Over the course of 2019, I had poetically documented how my days went. I embraced both bad days and good days, giving advice, lessons, life experiences, and capture the importance of the moments I endured. A few years back I had fallen in love with how healing poetry books can be to a confused soul. I remember clinging to the pages of books from authors that made me feel less alone, those same authors paved the way for me. My hope for the book is for people to do the digest my words and can relate to what I have experienced.
365 is SUCH an engaging, introspective collection of poetry. I think this collection is nothing short of universally relatable. The writing is a genuine gaze into the author’s psyche, and you easily get lost in the powerful feelings displayed through the pages. I loved the self -talk that was prevalent, almost ritually so, throughout- and the courageous ability the author showed-to look inward, and ultimately, self soothe. 365 is a contemporary book, defiant of traditional stereotypes of what poetry is and revolutionary to what it can become. This year-long collection is the kind you want to get nestled in for- because it’s difficult to start once you stop. A favourite of mine was February 9th- “don’t wait on praise from others, praise yourself’ is an important position to hold, a brave understanding of what our minds really require from us, self-love. There are wise inputs throughout, which leads me to believe that the author is particularly sagacious. It would seem that the author is too familiar with the depths and breadths of human feeling, and the numbness that comes with not feeling anything. Emotionally, 365 is a rollercoaster to read- and what great books aren’t? - you have a front row seat to the many pains and pleasures of humanity in these pages. It’s real to read. I honoured the authors wishes in their poem April 20th- and what a treat for all my further reading (great suggestion). Some of my other favourites were June 12th, June 27th, , September 7th ,September 30th, October 3rd, November 30th and December 13th! Thank you, Nicole- for putting together this poignant and beautiful collection. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future!
