I liked D.O.G. Executive Order. I can say with certainty I was not Barlow's target reader. This is more of a "man's book. I did enjoy the reasoning for the investigation. That is what kept me going.

I have read very few in my lifetime of these action type genre books. I have seen and cheered on the action heroes in movies: Ford, Jackson, Cage, Snipes and Connery.

This can be gifted as a beach or travel read. It's not complicated. It is entertaining.

Title – D.O.G. Executive Order
Author – Robert Barlow Jr.
Genre – Suspense, Thriller
402 Amazon Pages, 98,000 words
Rating 4 stars out of 5 Posted
No. 18 - 2018

My Impressions: Reflects yesterday's headlines, assassination, betrayal, high level government corruption.

Main Characters:
Gunnery Sergeant Zach Hinson – Marine sniper.
Sgt. First Class Jason Jones – Army sniper assigned to the Marines with Zach.

If you are a hardcore conservative you'll likely give D.O.G. Executive Order high marks. Not so much if you are a fervent liberal. The story centers around an incompetent progressive liberal U.S.A. President intent on destroying the constitution and the country along with it. The two marine snipers are thrown into the middle of a presidential executive order and the betrayal and intrigue it reveals. Only the personal agenda of a terrorist leader saves their lives after they are betrayed at the highest level and specifically targeted to die.

The editing and sentence structure and poor. There are far too many missing, extra, misspelled and wrong words used along with sentences that are poorly organized. Additionally, there are excessive comma where not needed, missing quotation marks and conflicting past and present tense in sentences. A competent, professional editor is needed.
Character development is good for the two main characters and several subs.
Details are good for the military aspect.
The plot is original, as if plucked from the news of several years ago and then radicalized.
The writing style is wordy, sloppy and repetitious.

“D.O.G.: Executive Order” introduces two elite snipers, part of team D.O.G., on a mission directed from P.O.T.U.S. to take out a terrorist leader.

Overall, I enjoyed this story. Told through multiple POVs, the book moves quickly through action sequences, conspiratorial conversations, and the repercussions of both. The story feels very “now” especially from a political take. However, the tale does not designate when it is occurring, leaving open interpretation regarding the reader’s personal leanings. This is a fast-paced action book that seems pulled from today's headlines. There are a lot of political overtones to this story but, regardless of your leanings, it all comes together to make an intriguing story that makes one wonder if this would be possible. This book was obviously written by someone who understands the military and the convert side of the government. I would label this an interesting and informative read.

Excellent read.

This book, mirrors what many people , believe about the current president and his administration. The Ukraine monies, that there is no accounting for where it went. The inflation, supply chain issues, COVID19, loss of jobs, constant protection from the main stream media , and lets not forget all the things the president is doing for the illegals. He does for everyone , except legal American citizens. I pray, there is a group, trying to bring him down. In real life.

I enjoyed this book. It was easy to read and I liked the different view points. The characters were easy to relate to or despise depending on the person. The only thing keeping this from a 5-star review, is how everything was laid out. It was almost too thought out. Real life usually doesn’t give you all the answers. But again, the story was great and I hope to see another in the works; based on the ending I would assume there is one.

I won this in a GoodReads giveaway and this is my honest opinion.

I liked the story very much. The plot was good and the characters were enjoyable to read. My only complaints are that I felt the story needed to be fleshed out a little more and some of didn't really seem believable. I think a little more detail and little more fact checking would have made this story a 5 star for me.

I love a really good thriller but am turned off by most of them due to the offensive (to me) language used throughout. This book had none of that and made for quite an enjoyable read. I’ll now be following this author in hopes that he’s got more like this coming.

This book was truly exceptional.
1. Characters sufficiently developed
2. Nonstop action
3. No lulls
4. Twists
5. Ending not foreseen and NOT a cliffhanger
All these boxes are checked. There are not many authors that I have read that check all of the above.
