Southern Bride #6

Take Me Away

Rate this book
When I’m not a test pilot flying for the U.S. Air Force, I can be found risking my life in other ways.

Skydiving. No problem.

Bungee jumping off a bridge. Like a pro.

Paragliding in Switzerland. Time of my life.

Zorbing in New Zealand. Fun as hell.

You see…all these life-risking adventures are not just a hobby for me, not just a way to pass the time. I need the adrenaline rush like I need my next breath. I’m addicted to it. It’s the only thing that allows me to bury my painful past—even if only for as long as it takes for me to come down from the high. All that matters is that I’m able to forget. And every heart-stopping moment of it was working…at least, until she appeared back in my life.

Both my worst nightmare and my wildest dream all wrapped up in one beautiful woman…a woman I was still very much in love with.

And that’s not the worst part…

Linnzi Cunningham has no idea who I am. She has no idea how intertwined our terrible pasts are—and for that, she is lucky.

She doesn’t remember the night when everything important in her life, everything that she lived for, was taken from her by the man who promised he would always protect her.

That man was me.

To love her is to forget she ever existed in my world.

Second chance romance.
Dual POV.
Prologue sets the scene of their meeting and relationship, chapter 1 jumps forward 5 years.
During separation.
' It’s been five years and she hasn’t dated a single person.'
After 8 years.
Hero says ' I have never cheated on you and have been nothing but faithful to you these last eight years.”'

Spoiler...

They are childhood sweethearts, planning to marry, she's pregnant.
He's flying the plane, they have an accident, she looses the baby.
Wakes from a c section with amnesia.
The doctors advise to let her remember on her own.
So her parents don't tell her about her fiance or the baby.
The Hero disappears from her life, secretly spying on her over the years.
The heroine returns home unexpectedly and at the same time the Hero returns for a birthday party and they meet.

The heroine mentions at one point that they wasted years and he didn't forget so why didn't he come to her.
When they meet she feels an instant connection, has been dreaming about him and felt something was missing.

It was just so infuriating and ridiculous.
If he'd stuck around ..... Grrrr

But as they were both celibate during an 8 year separation I gave it three stars.
HEA.

On one hand I really liked the story and was swept away emotionally...but then...I kept repeating in the back of my head that some of the secrets and actions were ridiculous. I am basing my review on the emotional side since this is a work of fiction and anything is possible.

The actions of the characters in this book made no sense. It was ridiculous.
There was no reason for the hero to stay away from the heroine for so long, waste so many years of their life together. I don't know how anybody could think this was a better idea than him staying and going through that hard time together, but all of their family and friends agreed and kept the secret. If I was the heroine, I would have been soooo pissed.

I am not sure how Kelly manages to write an amazing love story but at the same time break my heart but she does it with ease. One of the reasons I come back to this authors books time and time again is that I am guaranteed to be swept up in the characters lives and enthralled by the storyline. Nolan and Linnzi's story took my breath away with it's intensity you could feel the love between them. They share a tragic past one that Linnzi doesn't remember and one that Nolan can't let go of. Kelly wrote the characters with such warmth that you feel like you are a friend supporting them from the sidelines. One thing I really liked was that there was OW or OM drama in the story it was just them finding their way back to each other. I adored Nolan his love and devotion to his soul mate was so evident without being gushy and too much. There were parts that truly gutted me but I also felt hopeful and happy.

5 Righting Past Wrongs Stars!!

Nolan and Linzzi’s book is so beautifully written. This story is a true love story that provides a gamut of emotions from love to guilt to healing to forgiveness and redemption. Ms. Elliott has written this fabulous addition to a favorite series that gripped me from beginning to end.

When I first started reading the book I thought I knew what had happened to cause the break of Nolan and Linnzi…and WOW was I wrong!! It’s so much more and I completely understand why Nolan and Linnzi’s parents did what they did. I felt bad for Linnzi because she’s lost so much of herself and she doesn’t understand the draw she has to this man that loves her more than anything in this world…even if it’s from afar. One thing Linnzi was sure of, was that she knew Nolan in some way and had been thinking about him all these years….
“They weren’t dreams Nolan. They were memories, and whenever I woke up I would feel such a loss. I knew you were out there. I knew it. God, how I longed for you.”
I fell in love with the way these two learned each other again. Their love burned so strong it was just finding those hidden memories and for Nolan hoping that when, not if, but when either Linnzi remembers or he tells her everything that her love for him will be strong enough for them to survive.

I was consumed with this book from beginning to end… I’ve actually already read it again. That’s how much I loved it. Ms. Elliott is an amazing author and she can tell a love story that grabs my heart, breaks it and then puts it back together again. Her characters are very relatable and make me want to move to Boerne, TX so I can be part of their lives!!

5+ stars!

Take Me Away is hands down a favourite book of 2020, it is also my favourite in Kelly Elliott's Southern Bride Series.

This story is incredibly emotional but oh so beautiful. I have never felt so deeply for two characters. From the moment I started this book I could not put it down. I was completely engrossed in their connection and the deep soul searing love story these characters share.

Linnzi and Nolan suffered a terrible loss. A horrific plane crash broke them apart and Linnzi has been blocking out her memories where Nolan has been suffering in silence for 8 years. Linnzi does not remember Nolan but her heart most definitely does and even with 8 years apart neither could move on from the other. My heart ached so much for Nolan and the guilt and pain he suffered. My heart ached for the time they spent apart and the time together again as Linnzi begins to recover her memories.

Kelly Elliott has written one of her best books ever. Contemporary romance lovers that want all the feels you need to pick up this book ASAP. 5 stars is not enough for this incredible story. These characters and their story will stay with me for a long time to come.

This one was unlike any other book I have read in a long time and for that I enjoyed it. It was a fresh storyline with great characters and the happy ending I have become accustomed to with this author. That is why she is always a go-to no matter the blurb. ~Jen

"
Take Me Away, first series in the Southern Groomsman series from Kelly Elliott is a heart wrenching read, you will be hooked on from the first page.

Linnzi and Nolan’s story is heartbreaking, with a love that will stand the test of times. You will go through so many emotions in their story along with these two to find their HEA. Linnzi has no recollection of the last 8 years of her life, Nolan has been in the Air Force for those same years. One call has him returning to the town and coming face to face with Linnzi again.

Watch these two learn to love again, and watch them overcome the past to move onto their future. " ~Stephanie

5 Star Review Take Me Away (Southern Bride #6) by Kelly Elliott

Full confession her, I have never read a book by Kelly Elliott that I didn’t like. I love her style of writing, she draws you in and you cannot help but become invested in the story she weaves. This is Linnzi Cunningham and Nolan Byer’s second chance at love story and I was hooked from the first to the last word.

Nolan is an adrenaline junkie and a test pilot for the U.S. Air Force. Linnzi and Nolan have a tragic past, one that Nolan remembers vividly, unlike Linnzi. Nolan has never gotten over his love for Linnzi, but he does it from afar.

When their paths cross again, he wonders if fate is giving him another chance. However what will happen when Linnzi finally remembers everything that happened? Will this be the end for them once and for all or is this their second chance that has been prayed for?

This was such an emotional read, of pain, loss and coming to terms with the past, accepting what you find and re connecting with your soulmate. From the beginning you know that Linnzi and Nolan are meant to be together. Their journey will be heart breaking but it will be inspiring.

I was sobbing at times reading Take Me Away but this is one of my top reads of 2020.

An incredible romance that will make you cry, laugh, and swoon repeatedly, Take Me Away captured my heart completely and solidified why I keep coming back for more of Kelly Elliott’s deeply emotional novels.

I truly don’t know if there are words to describe how much I adored Nolan and Linnzi. Or how heartbreaking their situation was. Because it was basically a no-win set of circumstances they found themselves in, with no way they would come out of it without having to work through some gut-wrenching emotions. And as much as I was flying through the pages, I have to admit when it came to the scenes I knew would pack the biggest punch emotionally, I had to stop and prepare myself for it. Seriously. That was how real Kelly Elliott’s writing was and how tangible the characters’ feelings were in every scene... Read More

Take Me Away is a beautiful and heart-warming second chance romance. This is a story of heartache and pain. A story of forgiveness and longing. A story of a past that demands to remembered and a love that will never be forgotten.

Take Me Away took me on the most incredible journey. I fell in love with Linnzie and Nolan’s story instantly. Their pull was undeniable and I was dying to know what had happened to these two. I was desperate for answers and with each moment, as we got closer to the truth, my heart just ached. Their pain so palpable, it felt as though it was my own.

The road to happily ever after for Nolan and Linnzie was not an easy one. It was filled with secrets, heartache, and loss. Nolan and Linnzie’s story will pull at your heart and leave you rooting for this couple to find their way back to one another again.

This story hit so many marks for me and left me feeling so many emotions. This is hands down, my favorite book by this author. Linnzie and Nolan’s story was absolutely everything and I loved getting lost in this story.

If you’re a fan of second chance romances that are filled with heart, romance, and just the right amount of angst, I hope you’ll check out Linnzie and Nolan’s story and that you will fall in love with them just as I have….

Take Me Away is book six in Kelly Elliot’s Southern Bride series. All of the books are written as stand-alone titles. I’ve only read this one, though, and I can honestly tell you that there was no point in which I felt lost as to the plot or any of the characters. So, you really can start with any book in the series and enjoy it.

I found Kelly Elliot’s books years ago and fell in love with her Wanted series. I still highly recommend that one to this day! For a while, and for some truly unknown reason, I stopped reading her new releases. Then, I found her Meet Me in Montana series (I love it!), and I was reminded why I enjoy her stories so much, which lead me to read this book in the Southern Bride series.

NICUnurse’s Rating: Full disclosure: I’m married to a former fighter flyboy. He wasn’t a pilot but flew in the backseat of an F-15E Strike Eagle (think Goose), and several of his former co-workers went on to be test-pilots. Why do I disclose that information? Because that makes me extra critical of all the little details regarding military life. Now, this book is fiction, so I realize the author has some creative license. There were a few details I could possibly argue over, but even when you think you know how the military works, someone else’s experience could have been out of the norm. And knowing what I know about plot development, I realize you do have to make a story work as a whole. All that to say, I think the author did a great job of keeping it real when it came to Air Force life details for the most part.

The best part about this book was, hands down, Nolan and his unconditional love for Linnzi. We already know I’m partial to flyboys. But a daredevil flyboy who has remained faithful to someone that can’t remember how important she was to him for that many years? Be still my heart! Their journey back to each other was such an emotional rollercoaster but not really angsty. I’ll be honest, though. Linnzi annoyed me in the beginning. She seemed…almost like a spoiled brat in some ways. But by the end of the story, she totally redeemed herself to me.

If you like second chance, contemporary romance books, I highly recommend this one. I read a LOT of books each year, but in my opinion, this one is the best second chance romance book I’ve read to date.

I give Take Me Away by Kelly Elliot 5 out of 5 stars!

Take Me Away by Kelly Elliott was all about feels, feels and more feels. This heartfelt story has stolen my heart so easily. I have fallen in love with Linnzi and Nolan's epic love story.

Nolan and Linnzi were childhood sweethearts but their life ended even before it started. By an accident. Linnzi cannot remember a large part of her life anymore. But she has this emptiness and longing for someone unknown deep in her heart. After eight years she decides to come back to Texas, to her home town. And she meets Nolan again. And her flashbacks come more often. But what is this big secret everyone is scared to share with her? Will it tear them apart?

This kind of love story is all about power of love. The love that conquers everything and is above every challenge. Nolan and Linnzi were soulmates. Her heart may have blocked the traumatic memories but has not blocked Nolan completely. Nolan is a great man. He tried to stay away from Linnzi to help her heal naturally and to protect her from the searing pain of losing something precious. He stayed loyal to her from distance. I cannot imagine his pain to live everyday knowing his love of life doesn't remember him. He was patient and calm. He had to endure guilt, heartbreak and shame but he never stopped doing best for Linnzi. She is so brave and sweet. It was a turbulent ride but she fought bravely. She was confused and angry and upset but she pushed for the new future. The author brought out the angst and pain so beautifully. Their love is so precious and sweet. And my heart is too much happy for them.

Take Me Away by Kelly Elliott is the kind of intense romance that makes me believe in power of love and friendship. This story holds so much strong emotions.

Take Me Away had me feeling EVERYTHING. I cried sad tears, I cried happy tears, I laughed, I smiled and I fell in love with Nolan and Linnzi’s beautiful, emotional story.

This is hands down my favorite book of the Southern Brides series and my favorite Kelly Elliott book to date. The moment I started this book I couldn’t put it down. This story captivated me, it made my heart ache. There is just so much emotion in this story and it is so beautifully written.
Nolan and Linnzi were childhood sweethearts, they had a great life together until one accident forever changed their lives. I loved Nolan. My heart broke for him and everything he had experienced in a short amount of time and never really had the closure he needed or the time to grieve, yet he still made a major sacrifice that I don’t believe many people could do. Linnzi, my heart broke for her, too. I loved her. She is strong for everything she experienced, even if it takes some time for her to realize that. Their chemistry is amazing. Their love for one another is for forever. Their souls know each other. It was truly magical.

If you’re looking for a small town, second chance between two soulmates romance that will have you feeling every single emotion this one is a MUST READ and hands down one of my favorite Kelly Elliott books!

If ever Ms Elliott has given us a couple that needed a second chance, Nolan and Linnzi are them. These high school sweethearts suffer a tragic past and their love stands the test of time. The myriad of emotions you will have while reading is more than many authors have managed to achieve.

Nolan holds so much quilt over that day that lost him more than you can ever imagine. Determined that they were doing the right thing he let Linnzi go and has watched her from afar. Trying to move forward but lost in the past with his losses. Years later when he has a chance at more at a future he is torn between reliving the past or moving forward.

Linnzi knows she is running from a past she can't remember. She knows the basics but not the details and doesn't push for answers. Years later, she is determined to get her life back. But will she be able to survive learning the truth?

Can the soulmate love that Nolan and Linnzi share be enough to help them through this? Will the truth of their loss be the end of them? Can love and friendship conquer all?

I can't tell you more but read this one, give this wonderful couple a chance to reach in your heart and share their love with you.

I cried so hard. 5 stars-absolutely!

This is Kelly Elliott as her absolute heart-rending angsty best! She’s written a story of love, loss, and of a grief so absolute and crushing that the mind went so far as to endeavour to hide that event in an effort to protect the heart.

It’s a heart that loved so fiercely, that it knew its soul mate had gone astray, and was waiting for that mate to come back to claim it.

I haven’t read such an absolute gutting love story for quite some time. Even trying to write my review days later, I’m becoming that ugly crier once again, but holy stars, it is worth every tear.

Nolan and Linnzi’s love story in ‘Take Me Away’ is exactly why I love second chance romances. And their story is not straight forward. Written from a dual POV, it’s the amnesia aspect that makes this book so much more heart-breaking and the length of time that Linnzi has been unaware of what and who has been missing from her life.

Ms Elliott absolutely breaks the hearts of her readers, and we all love her for it. 5 Stars for this beautiful bookღ⭐️ღ

Wow !!! What a fantastic addition to the Southern Bride Series.
Take Me Away is Kelly Elliott at her best, I was blown away by Nolan and Linnzi’s story and their romance stayed with me long after the final word was read. Nolan and Linnzi hav a tragic past, one Linnzi doesn’t remember but one Nolan can’t forget and now he spends his life watching his soulmate from a distance......
Fate works in mysterious ways and just when Nolan thinks she will never remember, something triggers small pieces of Linnzi’s past but what will happen when or if she remembers it all, will these soulmates get a second chance at love ......
This book blew me away, it touched me on so many levels and it was a story I didn’t want to end. I loved the characters and I even though I cried, I was happy to be part of their journey. This book will certainly be added to my top reads of 2020 and I urge all romance lovers to one click this gem.

Nolan and Linnzi were best friends, lovers and soulmates who had dreams for their future and didn’t think anything could come between them until the tragic day where everything changed. She doesn’t remember certain people or parts of her past and he is left with guilt and regrets as the woman who owns his heart doesn’t remember him or the life they shared.

Eight years later fate throws them together again when she moves back to her hometown and he is in town for the birthday of his best friends’s son. Her mind may not remember him, but her heart and her body does but if they are to have a future together she must remember what brought them to this point.

This is the story of an epic love between two people that isn’t diminished by emotional or physical distance. Your heart will break for what each of them went through but their journey will also inspire you as they fight to find their way back to each other and show that they are much stronger together than apart.

TAKE ME HOME – KELLY ELLIOTT 5* 18/11/20
Oh Wow! As ever with a Kelly Elliott book, you are drawn straight into the story, wanting to get to grips with the characters and you will not be disappointed.
I absolutely loved Nolan and Linnzi, wow what an emotional roller coaster, this needs a Handkerchief warning… I recommend a whole large box of Kleenex, a giant bottle of wine and the largest bar of chocolate you can get your hands on.
How can a young couple get through such an ordeal, one wakes up with amnesia whilst the other is left to deal with the aftermath. Nolan never forgot and did his best to keep this from Linnzi, it’s a tough choice to have to make on someone elses behalf, as it’s never going to be the right choice.
Its is such a heart wrenching story, as you follow Nolan and Linz helping each other to remember what had happened. They had amazing chemistry and it was lovely catching up with Truitt and Saryn again.
A real page turner.

This is the 6th book in this amazing series and is Nolan and Linnzi’s journey. These two were childhood sweetheart and soulmates until a tragic accident leaves Linnzi with no memory of her past, while Nolan cannot forget it. Nolan is patiently waiting for her to heal and regain her memory. Linnzi returns to her hometown 8-years later and when she meets Nolan again, she is drawn to him and having flashbacks, while trying to figure out what secrets the town is keeling from her. This is a beautifully written story which is emotionally charged, raw, gritty, realistic, heartbreaking, and with pain, healing, and angst, which all leads to a sweet and turbulent 2nd chance romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend for all.

I will say, I haven't read the first 5 Books in the series, and I was able to keep up with this one.

MY Review- Okay, full honesty here, I’ve never read a military themed romance, so I am not sure how to write a review on something I don’t really have experience reading. So my review will be short and sweet.

I liked the characters, I liked their romance, and I love Kelly Elliott and her ability to write a story. I am currently smack dab in the middle of her Meet Me In Montana Series and I am loving it.

This book was something new, and something fresh and I definitely appreciated the plot twists!

A unique, emotional romance.

Nolan and Linnzi's story pulled at the heart strings and kept me reading to find out what would happen next.

They experienced tragedy and pain that altered the course of their lives, but the story also had sweet and beautiful moments when they got their second chance to be together. The story and characters will draw you in and keep you engaged as they find their way back to each other.

This is my favorite Kelly Elliott book I've read yet!
