They might be the elite of King Academy but I am here for my own damn crown and I will do whatever it takes to get it.

Like in all the pretty pictures, King Town looks perfect. But underneath the cracks, that a painting can never altogether hide, lies and sins rule the town with the Academy right in the middle of it.

Kidnapped and forced from my latest foster home into the dangerous world of King Academy and the games they play, I find out I’m from here and now there is no escaping this world.

I’m born to play the same games they do.

Four houses rule this small gated town, and they always have done, poisoning the waters with their sins and darkness. And their heirs?

Well, they think they rule everything and everyone. They use their money and good looks to charm the academy into calling them their kings.

But I’m not falling for that bullshit.

Romeo Navarre, Archer Knight and Declan Dauphin may think they own the academy, own the town, and get everything they want…but then they have just met me.

They will soon find out I’m not falling for the sexy boys of King Academy.

Let me say, before I get too deep into the review, that I like bully books....BUT only if they have a strong heroine who can give as well as she receives AND the Heros are redeemable. If there is not that balance then the heroine comes across as a doormat with Stockholm Syndrome and the guys are not worthy Heros. I have this invisible line in my head that the Heros cant cross or I no longer deem them as Heros. Unfair? Maybe...but as a woman I could never respect another woman who just turned a blind eye to some of the abhorrent behavior I've read in some books. I lose all interest in all characters in that case. Plus, as a woman I sure as hell don't want to read about the horrible things the Heros do and then don't even have to grovel or say sorry...

All of that being stated Take My Crown sounded like my type of bully book! It even started out great with this conversation between the heroine and her mother...

"Am I the princess in the story?
...No, You're the queen in the story and no one can ever take that from you. Queens don't need kings, but a king will always need his queen"

My excitement continued when its stated that the heroine is NOT a virgin and actually fought back when being kidnapped...like full on fight! At this moment she didn't appear or even act like a doormat..she was strong, she was smart, and she was capable. However, my excitement was shortly lived when she's taken to her kidnapper and she basically just rolls over...but don't worry...she kept stating that she was "strong" and wasn't going to let him "control" her. What happen to my strong girl who fought back just a few hours ago? Why is she all of a sudden just talk and no action? Why is she crying when two guy accidently bump into her on the first day of school? Her actions and words became extremely contradictory and it pissed me off. My respect for her dropped and never recovered. Even in the end when she finally does what she says she's going to do I just couldn't muster up a "yea!"
As far as the guys are concerned...weak. I can only compare them to puppies who play fight for dominance amongst themselves but cower in fear when a big dog enters the room. Like the heroine, I found them all talk and no action. Also...they didn't even really bully the heroine. Yeah, one of them kidnapped her - he ended up being the most sensitive of them all - but after that they just want to get in her pants and are all of a sudden head over heals in love with her. They talk about how different she is but her difference never really came across.
I know my review makes it sound like I hated the book but I didnt....I just didnt like constant contradictions. If the heroine says she's not going to bow down how about she NOT attempt to have a ONS with one of the guys the first time they're ever alone, how about she not forgive a cheater because he "feels bad", how about her show some real frigging strength??!! There were some good parts of the book, hence the 2.5 stars and my desire to continue the series. I just wish the synopsis was more true to the story the author wrote.

Well that's one way to start a series lol. This book was a whole lot to take and once I got myself into this rich privileged/mafia like mindset I was hooked. I will say I'm not loving any of her men as of yet. They all have a lot to prove and given how entrenched they are in their families' lives and becoming the kings themselves, it will take them all working together to win over Ivy. Not to mention, can we even trust them? It's almost a little weird how each of the guys are like split in threes, one dark and dangerous, one soulful musician and lastly the Lothario named Romy. Declan the musician letting himself be manipulated by Ally and still sleeping with her while leading Ivy on was so off-putting. Then there's Archer who really did not make a good first impression, kidnapping her and all. But then again he's part of the badboy persona with his leather jackets and motorcycle. Romy at least laid out all his cards as the manwhore of the group. It was a bit disturbing though how often the heroine was ready to sleep with any and all of them even after them doing or saying something wrong. She's as usual a little hormone driven and I was not all for it. I'm not going to lie, until the end I was really not feeling the book. There was so much buildup and Ivy showed no promise, but alas I was proven wrong when she shared that she was working on an escape plan all along. That was a relief because I thought she'd lost her damn mind just mindlessly going along with whatever she had to. I felt so bad for her for much of the book though, having her life stolen from her, I'm glad if only minorly that she fought back. Parts of the book were so outrageous but given the power of her father and the other ruling families it's not hard to understand how powerless she is.

A bit of a choppy read...

...But still a good book. It's just shy of 200 pages but lacks a lot into it which is quite good. It reads a lot like a YA book to me but with teenage spice thrown in.

Wow this book rocked. We get to meet Ivy whilst shes living in foster care just before her 18th birthday. On her way back from the shop she is kidnapped by the sexy hot Archer on his motorbike and taken to her dad who she thought was dead.
From here we find out she is his sole heir to their part of the kings town. Whole she attends the academy she meets Declan and Romeo who are the heir to their own part of town like Archer. On her first day Ivy rescues Milly from bullies and from here things get all twisty and full of many unexpected turns. To end the book on a major cliffhanger after what happens.
Totally recommend this book I could say so so much more but I wont spoil the story

Plot and Characters need fleshing out.

I really tried to like this book, unfortunately it fell flat. When I read the overview I thought it held promise and the potential to a great series was there however as I finished the book there was a lot of details that screamed childish and their is a lack of character development. Some parts are so cliché and there are some part that are for lack of a better term just plain dumb.

The characters' relationships felt forced and needs more time to develop. I also don't understand how can the 3 heroes inspire loyalty from the heroine when did never did any actions to merit it. Stolen kisses and a one night stand does not equal genuine stable relationships.

There are a lot of actions done by the heroine and her heroes that have childish reasons behind each action.

Overall I would not recommend this book and won't be reading the series. I'm completely at a lost as to why this book has 5 star reviews.

What a great start to a new series, and I cannot wait to see where this journey leads Ivy.

Ivy has been in and out of foster care for many years. Right when she is about to get out of the system, she is kidnapped. She is taken to someone who identifies himself as her father. There she discovers that there are four founding families that have been battling for ages. She discovers that her mother left with her for her safety. But she is his only heir and must step up and do her part. But the other three sons of the other houses, ones that they have made known that they want her, and she cannot help but want them in return. But can she trust them, can she really trust anyone?

Take My Crown is a great start, I enjoyed this quick read that has a good plot, is fast paced and very promising.

Such a good book...the beginning is full of foreshadowing to what is to be Ivy’s future. She quickly gets a romantic turn with all of the kings. The plot twist towards the end may be a little confusing as to why Archaic Sr. devised for Archer’s being shot (*spoiler), but even bigger is the cliffhanger of why Ivy is so important to all the families. I can’t wait for all to be revealed in the next book, as well as getting her back in King town. I’m sure Ally will unleash something upon Ivy’s return as a promise. The book is well written albeit a few grammatical errors that can be overlooked. It flowed well and sucks you into the story that makes it hard to put down for a break. It also gives you a small glimpse into what each guy is other than their status. Can’t wait for the next book to drop.

I like the premise of this story, but it just felt very rushed. The feelings are developed seemingly over a few days, there wasn’t really any bullying being done between the heroes and the heroine?

Ivy didn’t feel very developed, none of them really did tbh. I’ll read the sequels to find out what happened, but i hope that they get fleshed out way more.

This book was just rushed and had no depth. The characters were extremely one dimensional and you really know nothing about them.
They are not fleshed out well.

But they all insta-love each other.

The FMC is just so amazing. But she’s not.
She’s such a bad motorcycle riding, rocker chick. Even though that’s how the author wants her perceived, that’s not how she comes off.

And the guys are so hot yet they aren’t even described that well. They have no personality and the FMC’s personality is wishy washy she’s strong, she’s weak, oh wait she’s strong again.

“Ivy’s special, I’ve never met anyone like her. She’s so talented, so pretty.”
“And that body...The feel of her against me is just...mmm-mmm.”
The dialogue is just childish and blah.

And the ending? Wtf was that?

The way the FMC was treated especially by her father and he told her she was pretty much a possession for him to use as he pleases but after one chapter into the epilogue he’s suddenly sad and just wants his daughter back?!?

I will not be continuing this series.

I will say I have been highly disappointed with most RH books I have read lately. It’s like the authors are tired of writing RH or they are just trying to rush writing their books and aren’t even trying to write great books with great characters that suck you in anymore.

Hmmm... I am in two minds about this book..
I liked it, buuuuut there were a few things that I wasn’t a fan of. So I apologise in advance because this will be a really mixed review!!!

That ending has really left me questioning a lot of things about the book. Because if I am honest, I enjoyed the book and the storyline (most of it) until the last 10%.

In regards to the storyline, I wasn’t a huge fan of the whole four families concept but I did enjoy the interactions between the characters. Ivy was a great FMC and I liked the fact that she was a strong character. Even though she was home schooled, she was portrayed in such a great way which created this great push and pull with the 3 guys. I have to admit though, she was pretty naive...

Archer, Romeo and Declan are our 3 kings. The 3 heirs of 3 of the 4 families who are set to inherit all responsibilities and run the town. They are all slightly different. Archer is the broody quiet one. Romeo is the charmer and the ladies man who has a different girl in his bed every night. Declan is the mysterious musician. They are all instantly drawn to Ivy but are their intentions pure? One of the things that I liked about this book and what made it different from other books in this trope is that they guys weren’t friends. Yes, they tolerated each other to keep the piece and avoid havoc but they weren’t friends and they pretty much disliked each other.

Now back to that ending.... This is the difficult part because I really don’t want to provide any spoilers.
Lets just say, for me personally.... it didn’t make any sense. It was all over the shop. I really want to rant and rave and point out those parts but I would literally give away the whole epilogue ending... so I will just leave it at that.
I am hoping the next book may fill in a few of those blanks and help that ending make more sense (in my eyes).

But in all honesty, apart from the last 10% or so, it was a good book! There were obviously a few bits and pieces throughout the book that I kinda rolled my eyes at and could have been done a little better but it was Easy to read, held a bit of mystery, secrets, lies and steam. It had enough to hold my interest and I managed to finish it in just a few hours.

I enjoyed book 1 of this contemporary RH series. I wouldn't classify bully in my opinion, but its a good billionaire, pick on the newbie, academy story. I liked Ivy and already have downloaded book 2 because I needed to know what happened next! I have to say Archer is my favorite after book 1, but I know that will probably change in book 2 haha. I hate Ivy's dad and couldn't believe the stuff he did. I cannot wait to see him get his just rewards. I hope Ivy can unite the houses and they can take down the horrible older generation and rule King Town how it should be...or escape and live their lives away from all the drama.

I was shocked by one of the side characters flip hahaha, she was awesomely evil and I am interested to see if she shows up in the rest of the series. I feel like she will come back to bit Ivy in the bum haha. I thought this story did a better job of giving us detailed/depth, compared to the author's other recent books in her pen name. I worry how she does well in book 1 and by the end, its not as detailed/we lose that storytelling so we shall see how this trilogy goes. There were some moments/time lapses that made my head spin and I wondered why it wasn't mentioned again (like Ivy and Declan got detention with the note and then it wasn't mentioned again - a sentence could be added to kinda close that gap). I think if those little things were rounded/tied up better and some of the transitions were stranger/flowed better, this could have been a 5 star.

So far so good, definitely ready to read book 2 and can't wait for book 3 in September. 4 out of 5 Stars for Take My Crown 😊

Interesting concept

The whole concept of King Town with the powerful ruling families and Houses was an interesting idea for a book. Even though I found the whole concept somewhat strange and far fetched (maybe Ivy isn’t the only one who’s naive), it was still fun to read. The constant questioning about who to trust, what is the truth, what is fake, what are other people’s ulterior motives and while it all made me quite anxious to read, it still captured my attention to the point I couldn’t stop reading.

I honestly had high hopes for Ivy’s father being a good dad but just struggled to show it but I think those hopes are shattered. The epilogue has definitely piqued my interest and has me craving for the next book.

The prologue mentioned 4 men but as of right now, there is only 3 so I can’t wait to read the introduction of the 4th man. Archer may have been my favorite. He seems like the tough guy, typical bad boy but it’s obvious he is rather sensitive and romantic. Romy and Declan still have some work to do to prove their worth but Declan definitely has more to do than Romy. Even though Ivy has feelings for all of them, I think she will struggle with trusting and opening up to Declan the most.

This was a fantastic opener of a series that is full of secrets, lies, betrayal, and drama. I will be “patiently” waiting for August for the 2nd book in the series.

Ivy has been in foster care for the last several years. Her mother passed away from cancer. She is months away from turning 18. She really likes her foster mother and wants to stay in touch with her. However she is kidnapped and learns that her father is still alive and has other plans for her.

Where they live there are 4 houses, that have been battling for ages. They have come to a sort of truce, and Ivy's dad is going to groom her to take his place as she is his only heir. She falls for the three sons of the other houses. Romeo Navarre, Archer Knight and Declan Dauphin. Archer kidnapped her in the beginning, and she has a hard time trusting him. Declan ends up being her music partner, but ends up having a girlfriend even though he kissed Ivy. Romeo is a playboy, and tells others of his happenings with Ivy.

Ivy doesn’t know who she can trust, but ends up falling for all three boys. Her father is keeping her as a prisoner, and has his own agenda of trying to get the 3 other houses out of the way.

Ivy plays along with her father, until she can't.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read for me, and I can't wait for the next book in the series. This is book 1 in a 5 book series.

I received this free eARC novel from the author. This is my honest review.

This was a great book! Ivy was put into an impossible situation and she adapted really quickly to survive this new life she was forced into. I would not have done well with that rude introduction, but Ivy figured things out pretty quickly.

The King Academy world is full of mystery, secrets, back stabing people, money hungry desperation, and lies. I'm so glad Ivy did not grow up there, because I feel like she would have turned out like all the nasty girls there. Because of her history, she does not take money for granted, she's not walking with a superiority attitude, and she's nice. Which makes me love her. And I love Milly too.

Archer, Romeo, and Declan are all unique in their own way, but all have the same upbringing since they are heirs. I like Archer the best so far but we didn't get to really know all 3 of them fully, so that may change.

I love Ivys decision at the end of the book. She stuck to her guns and essentially showed everyone that she meant business and wasn't going to be a pawn in anyone's game.

I'm so excited for this series and I cannot wait for the next book!

Ivy is definitely a good FMC! She loses her mother young but remembers the stories her kind mother told her about her being a queen and the 4 kings in her life. She ends up in foster homes and when she's 17 is kidnapped by one of the heirs and taken to her father. Her father is a controlling freak of a jerk keeps her locked up in her room at night. Sending her to the school with the other heirs she has to navigate the confusion of rules and hierarchy and show dominance. Each of the heirs are interested in her for different reasons, her father pushing her to get to know them. He is pleased when she begins dating Archer and just when they get close he forbids her from seeing him anymore. After forcing her to go to Declans party Archer is shot, Ivy and the guys take him to her house for a doctor fearing that the assassin is at the hospital when in fact it's her father behind it and he wants to wipe out all the other 3 heirs. She excapes her room then helps them escape and runs away. I don't trust these guys father's anymore then her father and I hope that these four one day get together and take control over the town bringing all four houses together.

Kidnapped by a boy with a bike and a sidecar. She is forced into a new life with no choice or freedom to call her own.

All eyes are upon her as she starts her new school. Gorgeous boys, and devious minds surround her.

Can she survive them ?

Ooohhhh what a read!!! thrilling from start to finish just the way I like my books!

They are all points of a compass and I loved the idea that together they could rule harmoniously but divided many shall fall.

The three head boys, one of each house are vying for her undivided attention.

Archer the defender, with a debt to pay off. He's solid and a good guy all round.

Declan the boy who shares her love of music, but is he trustworthy?

Romeo the ladies man who charms the ladies left right and centre. Is there more to him though?

Each one has something to hide and many skeletons in their closets, but boy they are scrumptious!

Ivy is quite innocent and isn't used to their world, but she can more than hold her own and I'm so glad of that.

This series is going to be something spectacular if this first book is anything to go by!

***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.***

This was the first book in a new series and it did not disappoint! I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the book blurb and I wouldn't normally pick up a book I am unsure about. To say I am happy I grabbed my copy is an understatement!

Normally I would want my heroine feisty and hero's to be a strong support system for the heroine! This book proved to be very different from what I was used to as the heroine is feisty but yet the heroine and the hero's all have quite a bit of fear when it comes to their parents. There are so many manipulations and lies in this book it will give you whip lash. One minute you want Ivy to be with Archer. Then you want her to be with Declan and hate Archer. Then you have another change and want her to be with Romeo and hate Archer and Declan. Finally you want her to be with all of them or none of them depending on the moment. I'm telling you... serious whiplash here. It changes by the day and sometimes multiple times a day!

This was a great first book to a series and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

Who do you trust? Who do you believe? Is anyone telling the truth? What a story! I found myself asking these questions throughout the story. Who would have thought that there is a town out there oblivious to others that have 4 ruling houses? And who would have thought that someone who did not grow up in this little town would have an attraction for the other 3 heirs?

I love the characters. Ivy is a strong female (she has to be – she lost her mom when she was young and didn’t have anyone else); Archer is your typical bad boy – seems to be a rebel, but deep down is just a romantic at heart. Declan seems to be more suited for Ivy as they love the same things. I can’t wait to see what secret he is hiding. Romy is your typical playboy – has all the corniest one-liners, but I think deep down he is insecure as I really think he likes Ivy and for once their might be something he wants that he can’t have.

I love how the book will keep you guessing as to what is going to happen next. I am anxious to get the other 2 books that are out so I can see how the story plays out.

I really enjoyed this book!

I liked Ivy's character, but i do wish we got a better picture of who she was before all this. I understand it's only the first book and mystery sells, but i dont really feel like we got to get into her head yet, we have a good idea of who she is, but i want to know how she works. We mostly got a glimpse of that at the end. The book was pretty fast paced, which was nice. I liked all three king's, for their own reasons, but i will say Archer is my favourite. The suspense of who she will end up with based on her mothers words in the beginning are always in the back of my head! I hope in the next book there is a bit more depth to each character, i feel like they were all a bit rushed. On the kindle there were quite a few typos and oversights.. In the beginning she says she is running her hand through her wavy brown hair, then in the next chapter, she is saying how she always keeps her blonde hair in a bun. It left you on a pretty big cliff hanger, so I'm excited to see what book 2 holds!

2 stars but I have it three because I reserve anything less for books with no plot at all.

This will contain SPOILERS -

When I just started this book I was excited. FMC seemed like the strong-take-no-bullshit type but as soon as she meets her dad who’s apart of this secret society she immediately dies everything he says.

We are introduced to the 3 love interest but there is not really any development of feelings or character or just happens and she is just so super attracted to them at once.

The entire plot takes place between the music room at at school, her house and that bike show so I feel as if more attention could be given.

I don’t even know what the MCs look like because there is no proper description

To make it even worse that ENDING???!!!! That last chapter her dad is revealed to be the shit villain he is and then by the epilogue he’s so heartbroken and wants to find his daughter because there is so much she doesn’t know and the guys who were apparently protecting her and gonna go get her just like that???

I enjoyed this one a lot!

Since her mother's death, Ivy has been tossed into foster families until she was kidnapped and brought back to her psycho biological father. Ivy is determined to get the hell out of King Town but it turns out it'll be more difficult than she thought.

I loved Archer's character. Like said in the book, he first seems arrogant but he's such a romantic, it's so adorable!
I thought Romy and Declan weren't as much present in the book as Archer was, or maybe they didn't make a good impression on my so far but I still want to read more about them.

Even though it says it's a bully romance, I didn't see much of the bully (I mean, compared to other bully books I've read, I wouldn't put Take My Crown in that category) but I still enjoyed reading this book and will definitely read Take My Place when it comes out!

Wow, this book was great! I was definitely surprised how much I loved the plot and characters as I had never heard of Louise before. I was surprised when I found out Louise Rose is G Bailey's new pen name.

In this book we meet Ivy, a foster kid, who is suddenly being kidnapped by Archer and taken to the rich part of Kings Town. She is then delivered to her father, who she thought was dead. We find out Ivy is the sole heir to her father fortune and is forced into a new cut throat world she doesn't understand or want. In order to keep her foster mom safe, she is to attend a private academy, where she meets the other three heirs to Kings Town, and learns just how hard it is to play their game. This book does end on a crazy cliffhanger and August can't come soon enough for the next book!

Intriguing start to this new series... Interesting premise in regards to the four families and am looking forward to seeing how the series progresses. Enjoyed the interactions between the FMC Ivy and her men Archer, Declan and Romy... lots steam, romance and drama. Really liked that it was from multi person POV as you get to see some insight into what her men think. And that ending!!! Interested to see what happens in the next book, although I am a bit confused about the change of attitude that her dad showed particularly after the way he acted throughout the book but am sure that will be answered in the following books.

I really want to like this book more and I’m hoping by the time the series continues that I will be able to get more into it. The main character seems very immature and for me there wasn’t a lot of character development. It seems their relationship are rushed and don’t make sense. I want them to get to know each other more because I feel like they have had very little time to gain trust or feelings. The very end was super confusing and I don’t like her father at all, who would, but for him to be with the other fathers acting like they were in something together made me a little irritated. I still want to continue with the second book because I’m curios to see if there is more development how it’s going to play out.

Meh. It's an okay read.

It's a short book...but I had a hard time finishing it. I kept thinking if whether to continue or just drop the book and find another one.

So the whole story feels rushed. Even Ivy's moments with the MMCs aren't smooth. It's like they just instantly feel strongly for her, even though they haven't actually spent that much time with her (especially Archer).

This isn't even a Bully Romance. If there is a bully I'd say it's Ivy's father.

But there were some cute and funny moments too. And the boys are quite intriguing (so far the characters that I like are the Knight siblings).

The book does leave you with enough curiosity that you'd want to read the next book.

Ivy has grown up in the foster care system ever since she was young. She lives an otherwise ordinary life until she gets kidnapped when she was out running errands for her foster mom. From there, she learns who her father is and that she is the sole heir to one the the four houses. Her journey starts when she meets the kings of King Academy: Archer, Romero, and Declan.

I really liked Ivy's character. She really does hold her own in the story even when she isn't in the school for long. This book made me slowly fall for the boys as I hated their attitudes in the beginning. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

I received a free ARC from Hiddengems and this is my honest review.

Let me start by saying that I connected with Ivy from the first page. I found her to be strong and at times willful but throughout the book she remained steadfast. What I did not really like was the last part of the book. I mean please do not get me wrong I liked the book and the premise but towards the end I thought it fell a bit short. These are new authors for me and I like their style but to be honest I wanted or expected more. I will say this it was a good book. I will try others by this author in the future.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
