Just a meal and a place to sleep in the barn... When Jessa, the miller’s daughter, offers simple comforts to Willow and Gideon in return for a bit of work, the runaway princess and her fox spirit companion are more than willing to take Jessa up on it. After all, being on the road has its dangers, and the respite while they search for answers to Gideon’s cursed collar is more than welcome. But when the discovery of a murdered royal and a forsaken ghost comes to light, the two travelers realize they’ve stumbled into something far more sinister…
First and foremost, I started off reading this as the webcomic that is still ongoing steadily. It's interesting as it mixes Asian folklore with European fairytales as the harper, Willow, traverses with her fox spirit ally, Gideon. This is the 1st chapter section deals with mystery of swan maiden by the water and what she is looking for. Swans often represent fairytale and myth representing rebirth and death, as well as love (the Wild Swans, Swan Lake), etc. As the story goes we also start to see the other underlying plot of why Willow is traveling with Gideon. More to come in the webcomic, especially if you like the Little Mermaid and Red Riding Hood!

Another delicious bite that I had the pleasure to obtain from Kickstarter. I didn't know what to expect when I dug into this story, but what I found exceeded any expectations I had! The plot, the characters, and the art were fantastic! I am especially enamored with the two main characters; the princess and the fox! I love everything about them! There is some believable history between the two of them that I know will be touched on! As always, I can't wait to find out what happens next!
I remember reading this online when it first came out and how much I loved it. So excited to have a physical copy, and I hope the rest of series sees print as well. The writing is sublime in it's simplicity and the art is engaging. A perfect blend of what i look for in a comic. Its intrigue and charm makes it sure fire winner in my book!
