How do you let go of soul-crushing guilt when a life is lost in your hands? By allowing someone else to save you.
My name is guilt.
Her name is Christine.
As a Combat Medic, saving lives isn’t an occupation, it’s my identity. A persona I’m struggling with as I wander from job to job, unable to commit to feeling anything for anyone.
Except my squad. I love my squad like brothers. Sometimes they’re too perceptive for their own good.
“How was your first day?” Snake asks. “Meet any cute women?”
He has a one-track mind.
“Mostly privates,” I laugh, Christine’s sexy body swaying through my distracted mind at this exact moment.
But at least they’re brutally honest. I can’t be that candid with Christine, not when my body is in charge.
So how exactly is it possible she manages to push my hot button within twenty minutes of our first therapy session?
Because we have insane chemistry. Because she’s an excellent doctor. Because we’re destined to be one.
If I can stop screwing up by storming out of our sessions, and walking out of her apartment leaving her crying, I have a shot.
I might just open my heart long enough for her to crawl in and help me release the traumatic memories of the past. She deserves a man of honesty, honor, respect, and integrity.
My mission is clear. That man must be me.
Matthis is a steamy, tender, heartfelt contemporary romance story. If you love happy endings where the good guy finishes first, enlist in his squad today.
This was a really good book. It’s well written and interesting. I enjoyed getting to know Matthis buddies. I’m looking forward to their stories. It’s a hot, steamy read. It was a relatively short read. It only took me a couple of hours.
Matthis is a former Army Medic who has seen and been through a lot. He’s still trying to adjust to civilian life and he’s not dealing with the trauma he experienced while serving in Iraq. He came home from war physically intact but mentally he’s struggling just to exist. He’s on his third job with the Army when he meets Christine. She’s the therapist he has to see as part of keeping his new job. The attraction is instant, and sparks fly between the two of them. Can Christine help Matthis to heal from the trauma he experienced? Can Matthis let go of his guilt and self-loathing?

This is a great story of instant love and connection. The book touches on a soldiers life after active duty. So many truths to how they harbor guilt and failure no matter what their role was in a unit. In this case Mathis was a combat medic and overridden by guilt when he was unable to save a injured private. It also touches on the forever bonds made within a unit of men and women that serve together. Lastly, Mathis & Christine have a deep connection both personally and professionally. He is scared and wants to run and she is not backing down. I love it! She is just what he needs in his life. Looking forward to hear what happens next in their story. Can't wait to read Everett's story next followed by the others.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Amazing read very well written with well developed characters and storyline. The struggles this squad faces when they have returned home are all too real. To see those struggles turned into a romantic story is somewhat breathtaking.
Christine- intelligent, confident, compassionate young woman who counsels vets upon their return to civilian life.
Matthias- a combat medic riddled with guilt over the loss of a fellow soldier he knew personally in Iraq. Now gun shy to fully commit himself to anything for fear of failure and further loss.
Can this magnificent woman help heal Matthias and show him he is worthy of her compassion and love.

Matthis is a soldier who left Iraq with war wounds, the mental kind. He feels guilty and unworthy. His therapist, Christine is the only one who is able to see right through him. She sees the fears that he tries to bury deep inside. The sparks fly between this unlikely couple.
Although the first book of a series, this quick read ends HEA. The veteran based characters give you a glimpse into the horror they carry even after coming home. The story gives you hope that even broken people can find redemption and love.
I found this story interesting and written well, the topics that appeared in this story were dealt with realistically and sensitively. Big up to Christine for believing in their connection and going the distance. Matthis was very likeable and I wanted to hug him and give him a head slap equally! I'm interested in reading more about this group of 'brothers'.

I enjoyed this hot, steamy insta-love short read. Makes me, again, appreciate the men and women of our military. Just what they go through for our freedom. PTSD is real. I loved these characters and their struggles. Will be reading more from this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the author, and I'm so glad that I did. This is a great short read, which I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. It was heartfelt, funny, and I felt really connected to the story. I can't wait to get my hands on the next one!
A nice steamy short read! The chemistry between Matthis and Christine from the moment they met is mindblowing! Will Matthis overcome his emitional insecurities and be the man Christine needs and wants? Read to find out!
I read an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.
Mathis and Christine are super cute and a really lovable couple. It was entertaining getting to know their groups of friends and watch get together in this heart warming story of love and overcoming fears and trauma

I liked the concept of this story but the ending is just lost. There could have been a better epilogue. The last sentence of the story leaves me lost. What do they need to tell. Nice story just crazy but good quick read.
An interesting story about compassion and bravery. It's difficult for returning soldiers to normalcy. They have seen so much that is indescribable. So when Matthis meets Christine the chemistry is off the charts.
