But what people failed to see was that the virus was killing indiscriminately and relentlessly. It did not care for the poor or the rich, the big or the weak, neither did it care of religion or nationality, nor the colour of its host. . I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. I can say that Author Anuj sir has drastically improved in his writing skills. This book was very much relatable with the ongoing situation currently. We are all waiting for the vaccines to come out, so that we can freely get back to our routine jobs without having fear of getting the virus and also so that the deaths around the world because of this pandemic can stop. Everyday cases are increasing in India and companies are working hard day and night to bring out the vaccine. This story was a short one and it is about four major protagonist Yamini and sanjeev who are the owners of Biofizz company which succeeds in making the vaccine, Zubeda who is a news reported and Danpani who is a buddhist monk. Amidst in trying to succeed for the vaccine and in saving lives, these characters fight their inner demons side by side. The plot was good. There were very few errors in the writing but otherwise I was really impressed as to how the Author's grasp on language has improved.
The world is suffering from a health crisis which has turned into a more complex crisis with the economy and mental health crisis. While all of this has happened due to a microscopic virus, there’s a lot more happening here.
The book talks about the virus, it’s effects on the people, and the lock-down which was done a step taken by the government for prevention. The book is a pretty sensible take on the whole situation. How one of the characters, Danpani, has been infected by the virus and how Sanjeev and Yamini try to do something better for the humankind through BioFizz.
It is written with so much maturing and the seriousness of the situation is easily conveyed to the reader. Even though it’s just a 100-something pages long book, it has a longer impact with its content. The author has done a great job with his writing skills to draw out a realistic, raw, and significant story.
There are so many books around this pandemic, love story and all but finally someone makes sense and this book is a best example of it. Nineteen is a tale woven around deadly virus Covid19 and lockdown. The virus is taking its toll around the world ,so many deaths are reporting daily and every country is looking for it's vaccine . So in India BioFizz is very close to a breakthrough in developing a vaccine for the virus and also acquaint them with our PENTATUBE Technology. Biofizz is a venture of Sanjeev and Yamini ,young adult professionals who lived by their own rules and try to do something for the people. Danpani a corporate trainer and spiritual guide and the Srilankan Mystcal monk who is out on a quest to save humanity , but as his master told him his fate is such that his Glory goes hand in hand with his doom . He also infected by the virus and biofizz tested their vaccine on him. Will the company BioFizz find the mercurial vaccine cure and above all will the prophecy of Dalpani’s master Kalpani come true. All the characters are well elaborated and their roles are pretty defined, I even loved the character of Zubeda a reporter too ,honest, strong mind and grounded. Story written in a very intresting manner which keep the readers interest intact throughout the book. We all are going through the same during this pandemic and specially thanks to our front line workers and medical teams who are fighting day and night for us.
We are on the brink of changing times; this pandemic has taken the world by storm. 'Nineteen: A Pandemic's Tale' by Anuj Tikku brings us a very realistic perception of the pandemic's time through diverse characters - researchers, a spiritual guru and a journalist. Biofizz, an Indian startup, is all set to create a breakthrough with a vaccine, but it's not going to be easy. Will they be able to achieve this great feat? Will they be able to fight their inner personal demons too?
It's not just about the outer pandemic but also the inner fights that all the main characters are facing. The four characters in the book have a centre hold in the storyline and all of them are diversified in their stream. Yet, they are connected by the narrow thread of saving humanity in their own way. This is a very realistic book and hopeful as well. While it does have a fictional approach, it's safe to say we all hope for everything to work out in a similarly positive manner as well. The title of the book was well defined in the narrative.
The writing does need a little polishing though. It's very easy to understand, but might be bland in certain aspects. Personally, the pictures throughout the book weren't a good choice; it shifted the intensity of the book.
Overall, it's one of the books that enter the phase of Pandemic's literature. It is an interesting read.
Here we follow Four individuals Yamini, Zubeda, Sanjeev and Danpani who are struggling with covid 19 virus. One is a head of a company which is struggling to make a cure for the virus, one a reporter who is reporting the real life trauma that this virus has bought with itself, one is monk who wants to save humanity and one is the co founder of the company. We get multiple POVs , in each we understand why the author has used specific names like The Man, The Go getter and as the story closes we understand how important each one's background has been that has been intricately designed. The plot was really good and fast paced. I got a feeling while reading that the author wanted to keep an objective style of writing but I thought it could have been written in a better manner for the content to be more enjoyable. There are pictures in the book too. Some chapters are short and some are long. There was no such flow per se. The character developments was the best part and the most intriguing part of the book. It is a short read, a little over a hundred pages.

There are times when you start a book with a feeling that it's going to be a good read and that's what happened withe regarding this book. It's raining like there's no tomorrow for the past of couple of days in Calcutta and I couldn't stress enough about my utter dislike of this natural phenomenon. So in the middle of the day, with all the lights turned on I grabbed my blankie, got myself some green tea and started this one. I started this book after a day full of reading for my exam and boy oh boy this one I finished in record time. The book started with a few introductions and I thought it might be a slow book but nopes it was a roller-coaster ride all the way. Many of the characters seemed liked they were inspired by real life people. I took not a single break and trust me you wouldn't be able to as well once you start this book. The characters are so well formed, like doesn't matter how many pages you are in but every character will make sense to you.
