Okay, so we're in the final battle of the war games and there are two volumes left after this. Snow is currently being held captive by the queen and there are a couple of rounds of fighting left.

One thing that I find interesting about these books is how they handle back story. Like, we learn that one chess piece's husband was hunted down and killed because he had been a chess piece. In this volume what really stood out was the background story for Halloween who we learn was a childhood friend of Alan's.

I enjoyed this volume more than I have the past couple but I'm still glad to be nearing the end, both because I'm ready to move on AND because I want to know what happens.
