From Nobuyuki Anzai, creator of Flame of Recca , comes the tale of Ginta, a junior high loser who enters the vivid world of his dreams where, at last, he is a hero!
Ginta and Team Mär have one final mission--to save Snow from the clutches of evil Queen Diana. The stakes get even higher when Diana announces her ultimate goal--the domination of Ginta's world after she takes over Mär Heaven. And Ginta is devastated when the identity of the Chess King is revealed--an opponent Ginta never imagined he would have to fight!!!
The climactic conclusion to the MÄR series! Don't miss it!
I didn't know where to put this because it's about all the books. I just wanted to say that the books MAR are really good and I love that there's another world or dimension and I like how there's this evil group called the chess pieces
I started reading this manga years ago, and now I've finally finished it. The books made me mad sometimes, made me laugh a lot, and made me cry in the end. I loved every bit of this series! If you're looking for a good manga with a fairytale theme, this is definitely the one to read!
MAR doesn’t dally on too long, and many years ago it shot a nostalgia spear through my heart. It’s choppy. Plot’s a little too simple; characters can be a bit too child-like. I’m just about 30 years old and likely double perhaps triple the age of peeps this is intended for. I’m a fan of the art. It’s got a style that harkens back to what I feel is an age of manga/anime likely gone. The magic is fun, the humor is hit and miss, why keep listing things? I liked MAR, not sure I’d recommend it to anyone though, and doubtful I’ll read it again, yet still I enjoyed it.
Ugh, I love this series! It’s so quirky and unique! The monster and ÄRM designs were awesome - giving them my full seal of approval!
I know it kind of wrapped everything up, being the last volume of the series, but I admit that I want more! The backgrounds of some of the Chess Pieces for example. Still, I love MÄR and I’m so proud to have this entire series on my shelf!
I did it! I made it all of the way through the series!
There isn't a lot that I can say about this volume without spoiling so I want to take a moment to sum up my experience with this whole series.
First, I hear that there are video games based on this series and I kind of want to play them. Why not? Second, it was nice to read some manga that had an end in sight. 15 books is really a perfect amount for me and it could have easily been read in one day, if I didn't dole out my graphic novel reading a little bit at a time. Indeed, I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had just tore through it in one go. Some volumes felt like nothing happened and others were all plot, all of the time. I enjoyed reading these even though there was a lot of predictability to them. I also really enjoyed Dorothy and all of the references to the Wizard of Oz.
All-in-all, I would call this a positive experience. If you're looking for a manga with a completed arc that isn't dozens of volumes long, this is worth your time. I actually might miss MAR a little bit.
I loved this whole series and pounced on each new volume as soon as it hit the stores, but I've got to say I was disappointed in the last volume. It ended so abruptly that it felt like the author was just tired of writing it and was trying to hurry up and finish off the series and tie up all the loose ends really fast so he didn't have to do it anymore. It almost reads like one of the "rocks fall, everybody dies" fanfictions I've read online. On re-reads of the series I pretend it stopped at 14 and finish it in my head.
Loved the series though, just not the ending so much.
