Charlotte Hackney, daughter to the Earl of Devon is betrothed to a unscrupulous Compte. When her father ships her off to France to be married, Charlotte doesn't want to go but she is not sure to avoid it. Then Charlotte meets another woman with similar features and they agree to trade places.
Charlotte and her maid try to stow away in a crate but are caught by the owner of the ship, Duncan Lancaster, the Duke of Willeton. What follows is an interesting tale of two people falling in love with everything going against them. Especially when the Duke's mother takes an instant "dislike" to Charlotte .
I'm sure that you will enjoy this book as much as I did. Looking forward to future books from this new author.
I received an ARC of this e-book to read and write an honest review. In addition, I have purchased a published e-book when it became available on Amazon.
I didn't get past 14% because I can't stand to read a historical romance book where a Duke is addressed as My Lord and called Lord Lancaster... Which is what I found in this book. If the author can't do even the simplest due diligence/fact finding and NO ONE ELSE in her immediate circle (first readers, Editor, spouse, parent, sibling, best friend... you get my drift) noticed it then I'm not going to waste my time to read their book, and if they did notice the error (I can't see how they could MISS it) but didn't care enough to change it then they are all just disrespectful and uncaring of the money and time the unsuspecting reader has wasted. Leah Connolly is an embarrassment to the rest of her historical romance peers and should stop writing trash.
I didnt like the way the Compt treated her and her parents forcing her to marry someone who was so disrespectful that he almost raped her and was going to hit a servant for disobedience. I hated when Duncan's mother terrified Charlotte and when she had the police come to his house and arrest them. I hated her then, and my heart broke for them. I know these negative things have to happen to keep the book from being boring. I become so engrossed with the story that I feel so sad, like it's my world falling apart. So i especially like a good ending. I think Leah is my favorite writer. I became interested in her books right away and struggle with not wanting to put it down. l love all her stories.
Regency parents often betrothed their children without their consent. So what options were available for a Lady wanting to marry for love whose parents betrothed her to a monster? Well, Lady Charlotte is full of ingenious ideas and has the courage to boldly put them to the test. Pretty Little Lies for the Duke’s Heart is a highly entertaining love story with many twists and turns. If you like strong heroines who find their perfect match you will really enjoy this one! Leah Conolly will quickly win you over with her well developed characters and fast-paced storyline — a real page- turner!

Pretty Little Lies for the Duke 's Heart A Clean&Sweet Regency Historical Romance
This is the second book that have read by this author and it is a good story about love and forgiveness.Charlotte sends another to France to marry the Comte that she does not want to marry and she meets Duncan a Duke and they fall in love but his mother is a problem. The plot is very good and the characters are determined and the extended epilogue is also good.A enjoyable read
Leah Conolly has everything in this book, romance, intrigue, family problems, villains, humor and a happily ever after. Lady Charlotte/Christine just wants happiness and safety, things she is not likely to find with the Comte. I love heroines that take their future in their own hands and don’t look for someone to rescue them. I always enjoy a story by Leah.
I really did love this book but could not find the extended which was a downer for me. I am hoping this author writes more books, really loved the story, hope the links for the extended are fixed, think she would have more readers. Keeping tabs in hoping more historical novels from this author. I still recommend!
A very clever and talented Arthur wrote this beautiful story. I enjoyed this crazy made up story and was quite surprised with the way it went. Leah Connolly is a very talented writer and you can enjoy her little twist and turns she throws out there for us to try to believe.
This was a story I could really like. Parents who promised their daughter to a reprobate not even going to the wedding and get angry when she runs away. Gotta love the duke at least he came to his senses and so did she!
entertaining, heartfelt and lots of emotional conflict
An amazing story, entertaining, heartfelt and lots of emotional conflict and soul searching with unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises and misunderstandings. loved reading.this.
Enjoyed reading this book. Characters were believable. Evil parents making arrangements that backfire. Ton only recognizes gossip. Regency era at its finest.
