Meghan

So, I exaggerated a little in my job interview. Who doesn’t, right?

But the next thing I know, I’ve been bundled into a spaceship, shuttled to another galaxy and presented to Khaze’in—elite Zo’tox warrior and taciturn grump, all rolled into one blue, musclebound package. When he discovers that I’m a puny human, and not the ‘skilled negotiator’ he was promised, he’s not impressed.

At all.

But for no reason I can understand, instead of rejecting me, he hauls me off to his alien palace. And before I know it, those scary eyes of his are roving all over me—like he can see right through my clothes.

Khaze’in

If I hadn’t taken the soft-bodied human home with me, she would’ve been sent to the breeding program—at least, that’s what I tell myself. But I didn’t bank on her smart mouth, her constant demands for a “fulfilling job”, and her distractingly sexy curves, and before long, she’s getting right under my scaly skin.

Zo’tox do not kiss; Zo’tox do not mate other species. And yet—

The moment Meghan’s soft lips press against mine, my entire being screams that she’s mine. But taking the sexy earthling as my queen is strictly forbidden, and will have serious consequences.

When The Dark threatens to destroy all sentient life, Meghan’s negotiating skills might be the only thing that can save them. But will they be enough for her own happy ending?

Promised: lots of fun, sensual alien times, with a ton of snarky humor.

1.5 stars for effort?

This book was without rhyme or reason. I'm not quite sure what it was trying to do or be.

It wasn't humorous. It wasn't romantic. It wasn't erotica. It wasn't dramatic, exciting, angsty, or clever.

The story is built around someone who lies her way through an interview, and somehow ends up on an alien planet for a job she is in no way prepared for. This could've been a funny, albeit unbelievable, story, but it wasn't.

Our imposter heroine then goes to live with the monosyllabic speaking hero. He eats his enemies and spends his working days killing. He has a hard exoskeleton and horns maybe? Everything h says confuses him and when she cries he doesn't understand it. Yet he too sheds tears at the end of the book and they're purple for some reason, which I think is a last minute description thrown in to remind us he's an alien.

The heroine is not clever, or snarky as the title would have you believe. Every single situation is simply written so that she comes out victorious and all the simpleminded aliens look at her in wonder and awe. The bar is set very low for her in terms of outsmarting all the aliens on this planet. As her friend says, she solves world peace and becomes queen in the course of a couple months. And that was with her working as an alien pet sitter full time.

Absolutely ridiculous.

One interesting story of job interview gone wrong. It went 180 from interview to "kidnapping" to meeting hunky alien and meeting the fated one. The whole plot was actually interesting, though it's kinda dragging in the middle. Only after 70% of the book, when the storyline was getting interesting and fun. Few subtle twists, not much, but okay in the end. The MCs characters were quite strong as well as the supporting one. It was well developed, though I'm not sure what kind of direction the second book was gonna be. I was going to give more stars but since the middle plot make me wanna skip a few chapters, I guessed I settled with 3.5 stars. Oh, and this book was heavy on romance and light on politics or war; yeay!!

No virgin
No contraception mentioned
BBW human h, War king alien alpha H
Actions/fighting scenes were briefly mentioned but not detail
Safe read, No drama/angst, No OM, OW were arranged marriage, HEA
The details and descriptions on new planet was easy to understand and projected
Overall score: 3.5 interspecies romance stars

Meghan Shearer has a very controlling father who hardly allows her to breathe, and the situation is getting worse when she breaks it off with her ex-fiancé. They fire her from her job in the family business and kick her out of her apartment. She realizes she needs to get out of this toxic environment, so she finds herself choosing an out-of-this-world experience instead. Her job interview is a bit perplexing with the language barrier. But the picture of the pink sand and violet lake was enticing and she said she would take “that job”, whatever it was that was being offered there. The translation device didn’t make things easy either, but she tried to give the interviewer a list of her qualifications. Remembering a team-building exercise to “sell yourself in an interview”, she said, “uh, I’m an excellent communicator, able to find common ground and win people around with both verbal and non-verbal expressions. Also well-developed leadership qualities, a strong decision-maker, and adaptable to unfamiliar situations and environments.” Apparently the interviewer got very excited. She was given 2 hours to get ready to leave and she was not permitted to decline the job. They needed her and intended to make use of her skills! They even locked the doors so she couldn’t walk out.

So when the proverbial wires get crossed and they think Meghan is a powerful international mediator who can prevent the heated conflict brewing among three races on another planet, her adventure takes her in a different direction where she will meet Khaze'in. On the journey there, one of the aliens told her about where she was going. The three races that live on the planet are Qhuls on the dark cold and they are strange, reclusive creatures; on the blue desert side are the Exins who are large and powerful beasts, barely sentient, but able to fight; and in the middle, in the temperate zone between the two extremes, are the Zo’tox who she is here to serve. When he told her he hoped she survived, as he turned and walked out, she tried to figure out what that meant as the ship landed on the planet Giphiunope.

The puny female does not inspire Khaze'in’s confidence, but she stands up to him and is filled with indignation at his insulting behavior. As the tentacle creature suggests sending her to the breeding group, his eyes flashed with a look almost like jealousy. He picks her up bodily and takes her home to the palace despite his reservations about her skillset. Will she be the start of planetary war with her inept mediation? Or is something better waiting for her as she gets to know the fierce Khaze'in better?

This book was perfect for me, crazily funny with a spunky heroine that I, as a fellow Earthling, could be proud of! Seriously, I enjoyed this book and highly recommend it. A definite comedy of errors that takes you down the right path in the end. Grab your copy and enjoy!

This was pretty fun. I got a little bored with alien war storyline, but the chemistry worked between the heroine and hero. Overall, pretty fun and sexy.

Meghan has been fired by her father from the family lingerie business, her long-term relationship has ended, and she is down on her luck in general. She needs a job and she has just stepped into an employment agency on the outskirts of her town. What is a desperate girl supposed to do to get the job? Lie of course! Now she must continue the lie on an alien planet where humans are one step above “pets”!

Khazen’in is the war leader of one faction of alien races living on the planet Giphiunope. All three of the alien races are fighting over land rights on the planet and Khazen’in realizes his people need to find another way to get things done besides fighting and war. He needs an experienced and savvy mediator to help him with negotiations with the other alien races on the planet.

Once again, I was sucked in by the book blurb. The novel started off well with Meghan trying to get a job with the alien employment agency. Those scenes offered comic relief and some insight into Meghan’s life. After that, the story seemed to lag and drag. There was a lot of time spent describing the sci-fi technology, the planet, and the inhabitants. I was confused if humans were aware aliens were around and it was fine or if this was something new. Meghan seemed fine that she was interacting with aliens at the employment agency. The development of the romance between Khazen’in and Meghan was okay. It was not as interesting as I had hoped. I am still not for sure what constitutes as “curvy” in this novel. I did find myself skimming and skipping pages towards the end because the story felt like it went longer than it should have. It did end on a HEA and there seems to be another in the series that is coming out in 2020. Overall, the story was nicely written and interesting. However, given the title is “Snarky In Space,” I was hoping for more craziness, humorous antics, and more tension.

The writing and editing of this novel was fairly clean in the ARC version of the manuscript, with occasional typos and somewhat awkward sentence structure throughout. The world building was somewhat interesting, with the alien world coming to surprisingly vivid life considering the quality of the overall writing. The characterization was somewhat thin, with the hero especially not being a vibrant character with strengths and weaknesses. The development of the romantic relationship was a little flat, with me the reader not really witnessing the process of these two characters falling in love with each other, or me the reader falling in love alongside the heroine. The plot and pacing was quick and exciting, though there were a lot of things which went completely unexplained. For example, who is using human females as breeding slaves on this planet? Apparently, none of the indigenous species? Is Earth an intergalactic spacefaring planet or not? These questions were all left unanswered. There was little angst in this romance, though the hero's culture was intensely xenophobic, which left a bit of a nasty flavor in my mouth. The stakes were very high throughout, which I typically prefer. This story used the Mars Needs Women trope. The world building was two stars. The plot and pacing were three stars. The development of the romantic relationship and characterization were both three stars. I rounded up and gave this novel a combined rating of three stars. This novel ends on a Happy Ever After ending instead of a cliffhanger, so that is a plus. I do not recommend this sci-fi romance. I am uninterested in reading the next novel in the series, and I will not be buying myself a keeper copy of this novel.

One of the most irritating things about books are the covers to be honest. Its a huge draw to books for a lot of people. The cover is everything. I boggles the mind when you have a thin woman on the cover of a story about a plus size or curvy woman. It annoys. Now, that I've said that I LOVE this cover because it matches the story! So yay! Cover was the first thing I like about it. There are a lot of things I liked about the book. It was fun and cute. There's not a ton of conflict but just enough to keep me interested. Its the kind of book where you dont necessarily have to think too hard. Not to be insulting to the author. Its got really great world building but lacks character development to match. I would have liked the author to put as much thought and research into Khaze’in as she did with the world building. We didnt really know a ton about him. I liked his character just fine but I want to know him. What about his Mother? Any siblings? We dont know his age. We dont know a ton about his species just a little bit. I just want more details. Not just him but the others as well. We have 3 main species in the book and we just know surface stuff. Meghan was funny. She's a little naïve but definitely not stupid! I just loved when she was pulling these lies out of her butt but you know the aliens were kinda dumb so there ya go. Love scenes weren't impressive really just kinda quick and not detailed like I prefer. Bottom line is I had fun reading it. I would recommend the book and I do plan on reading the rest of the series at some point.

Loved it!

First time reading this author and I absolutely loved this book and her writing. I think the world building was done fairly well. I do t think Meghan was handed everything to her too easily like another reviewer stated. One thing I did laugh at and found kind of ridiculous was that Khaze’in was supposed to be caveman-ish not really intellectually inclined but when he was in his own thoughts he had very complexed thinking with very big words. Now, I’m not saying he’s supposed to be a complete idiot, I mean he is a leader amongst his people but he does talk me like, etc and he does frown upon too many words being used but when he’s thinking privately he really does go the extra mile thinking about things but he does use very big words when he does. You’d just figure he’d think the way he talks.. that was really the only thing wrong I found about the book. I enjoyed everything else. The relationship building, the chemistry between Meghan and khaze’in was off the charts hot and her relationship with Brooke and Abi were also very good. The book also had quite a bit of humor as well. I found myself laughing a lot. Also, what was up with those ants? Lol. The female Zo’tox and their pets were also hilarious. This was overall a great book and I can’t wait for brooke’s story. Check this one out and give it a chance! I’m also foreseeing her friend getting a book soon! We still have Abigail and the lieutenant out there as well. Someone is going to hook up! I just know it! I do wish we would have seen more of the HEA though. I’d have liked to see how Meghan was getting along. Maybe in brooke’s book? I sure hope so! 5⭐️ from me

💢 This is a new author that I tried, first I was Gun Ho, right after the good part it kind of dragged for me. And then it got interesting and I'm glad I kept reading. My opinion would be is to keep reading. This is definitely FANTASTIC book!

🔹️ Meghan Human is what the Aliens call her. When doing her interview they ask what are her abilities? Meghan said “ I’m able to find common ground and win people around with both verbal and non-verbal expressions.” She had no idea how true she was. Scary for her is an understatement especially when her father just fired her from the family business, then told her she was Not Worth Anything. She show him!

🔹️ Khaze’in is an Zo’tox his alien species shares with two other Aliens the Qhul and the Exin on the Planet Giphiunope. When Khaze’in first see’s his supposed Mediator he almost laughed himself to death. But wow her curves, yep he was peeking.

☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.

Loved reading this sci-fi romance about Meghan who got fired from her family lingerie factory and split up with her boyfriend. She went on a job interview at Intergalactic Helpdesk and was exaggerating on her work skills when she was designated as a mediator and was shanghai to the planet Giphinope. Prince Khaze'in is needing a tough negotiator and when he spies Meghan a puny human who won't last one week on his planet, decides reluctantly to take her to his home. Along the way Meghan constantly talks and Khaze'in is sully and quiet. Will these two find the middle ground when their feelings get involved? Will Meghan bring the warring tribes together? Loved the tongue in the cheek, snarky Meghan and the surly, quiet, warrior Khaze'in characteristics and the world building in this enjoyable alien romance story. I volunteer to read and review this ARC via booksprout.

Romance and laughter

This is the first book I've read by Juniper Jaxx. I'm glad I took a chance on a new author. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had everything. A budding romance and lots of laughs with a hea. Meghan is a human who wants to get a job off planet. Her interviewer decides she would make the perfect mediator and then sends her right away to a planet without even giving her time to decide if she wants to go. Khaze'in is a warrior who comes to pick her up. He immediately discounts her as a suitable mediator but does not allow her to be taken into a breeding program. Instead he brings her home. And a slow, passionate romance develops between them while Meghan manages to save his race with her negotiating skills. Khaze'in goes from being a warrior who barely speaks to showing Meghan just how much he really cares about her.

Nope.

After reading the reviews and the blurb I decided to get this book . Now I'm wondering if the reviewers and I were reading the same book . My biggest problem was the lack of cohesion in the story. Nothing made sense. The inhabitants of the planet , the planet itself. All I had was questions. The Xo'tox people were about as knowledgeable ( smart ) as toddlers. Example ( spoiler alert ); The Xo'tox could use a tablet and drive a space car but they didn't know how to create light to keep darkness away. No flashlights , light fixtures or even fire ! They were like , " Fire is bad. It destroys our homes and kills our people. " WTH ? DUH UH !! Anyway...now that my IQ has dropped a few points I'll leave the decision to read this book up to you .

Khaz'in is an alien that fights with 2 other alien races on their planet. Zo'tox have a low birth rate and are dying as a race. Meghan was sent to the planet as a mediator, of which she as no skills except a snarky tongue and her intelligence. Can she solve the riddle of the Dark saving Zo'tox , their planet, and her mate?

The characters are funny, snarky, and feisty. The fast paced plot will keep the reader entertain but the dramatic twist. I like this because it makes the regular Meghanthe heroine of the story. The next book in the series is Smart in Space, which I will be reading August 2020. Highly recommended.

A sci fi story with heat, drama, love, communication troubles and plenty of snark. Meghan is a complex, intelligent character with a sarcastic sense of humor. Khaze'in is a serious, stern warrior who has no use for a "puny human" mediator. I really enjoyed seeing the way author Juniper Jaxx developed a caring, trusting relationship between these two and I am hoping there will be more books to follow so we can see what might be in store for some of the other characters we meet in this book.

Meghan wants away from her father bad enough she goes to another planet. Khaze is a alien and wants a mate that will be able to help him bring peace. Due to miscommunication she finds her self landing a "job' they will not let her decline since they believe she is a mediator and can help the conflict on the planet. Fate works in weird ways. Loved the characters.

This was just your typical girl with bad family and no future gets kidnapped by aliens to a strange and beautiful planet. Her boss is a seven foot, horned alien with 4 arms and a tail. This particular alien is quiet and doesn’t talk much. The attraction between them grows and there are some good sex scenes between the two. All in all it was an interesting read. I look forward to the next one.

Little did she know that she would wake up on a spaceship without her approval for the job. Once she acceptance her fate, she helps bring peace to this planet and her happy future with Khaze'in who loves her. Great characters and an engaging story line.

A sci-fi romance where talking too much may just save you. Meghan just wanted a job and to get away. Her family didn’t care about her and her life pretty much sucked. But then she finds herself on a strang planet with a male that was gruff and doesn’t seem to like her. Her sassy mouth led her to another world and just maybe it might save her. Plenty of interesting twists and an unusual romance.

Meghan is sent to be an alien mediator when she lies during her interview to a primitive planet. She finds herself with a sexy alien warlord who needs her help to prevent a war but doesn't seem to want to talk much. This book is funny and sweet.

Sigh! This book was over too quickly. Not because the story was short, but because I didn't want to put it down. Snarky is right!

A delightful romance set on an alien planet with extreme weather issues. The heroine us aptly described but her talent for snark was wasted on her alien love interest. It was still funny and entertaining and without giving anything away her solution to solving that world's problem was very enlightening. I can't wait to read the next book.
