You know those television stories about the woman who goes to the emergency room thinking she has a bad case of indigestion or kidney stones or a burst appendix and she comes home with a bouncing baby boy?
Stupid woman, right? Who the hell doesn’t know she’s pregnant for nine and a half months? I used to think those mamas were one block short of a level trailer.

Random Acts of Baby is the 11th book in Julia Kent's New York Times bestselling series as Darla, Trevor, and Joe go on a long, crazy journey involving a baby, living two lives, and learning who you can count on most when you need a helping hand.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 5 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French, German, and Italian, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire in a rom com).
She also writes romantic suspense as Meli Raine, sexy shifter romances as DJ Jennings, billionaire shifters as half of the author team Diana Seere, and co-authors with Elisa Reed.
She lives in New England with her husband and three children in a household where she is the only person with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.

I can't even....No I can't. The gasps that came out of me on the very first chapter scared even me. I thought it was going one way and and suddenly it was a complete 180 that had me rolling. These characters are truly some of my very favorite and there is nothing Darla can do that will not have me smiling...except when she's crying -- which she finds herself doing often in this story (not bad, no worries). What I loved most though was how both Joe (yes, REALLY, Joe) and Trevor surrounded her with enough love and devotion to see her through the chaos that suddenly (well it IS Darla we are talking about here-so not so suddenly lol) is forming their lives. As always, the typical off the wall humor that never fails to have you laughing out loud whether you are in a loud room or laying in bed beside your husband having to explain Doc O's strange fetish so he understands that closet scene. Mavis-not Mavis..okay, chickens play a part in the hilarity (no chickens were harmed in this story) and Darla's past comes into play more often than you can imagine. All of this and more brings us another both hilarious and sometimes sad (I sometimes felt so sorry for Darla despite the fact that she gives as good as she gets) story of Random Acts of Crazy.
Things are changing and Darla's only Constants are Trevor & Joe.
When I got to read the story's early copy, I literally Squealed! (Also, omg!! The blurb *squeal!*) I know Darla, Trevor, Joe only from the previous book (Haven't read the earlier ones, yet) AND Now I'm gonna read those stories ASAP! This one was Hilarious, Deep, Emotional, Just what I needed right now! I was laughing hard many moments & in tears the next. DEVOURED The story in 6hrs!
ARC Received for a honest Review.
Darla, Trevor, Joe have spend years together. In love, through obstacles. This story had a lot of emotional growth for them. Asked questions that these 3 never thought. It touched topics like A surprise baby, Infertility issues, Baby Fever. Julia wrote them well!❤
[The story's totally based in Ohio (D's Family home), so we don't see much of other band members But we do see All of D's family. Some Friends too!]
There's The Baby (Whose? You'll be surprised!), Home Road trip, Reminiscing the Past & Facing it, Baby cuteness overload, Softie Joe (So cute!), Loads of Tears (Happy+ Emotional), Rental Trouble, Baby Gifts, Laughs, Darla's sexy times with T&J, Family Drama, Media Hawks, Chickens (!), Feeling of Belonging, Family Brunch, Trevor's Eggsturbation (Ohh, boy *laugh*), Bar open Mic night AND Fam photo shoot!
Seeing this side of the 3some was Great! Trevor & Joe were soo swoony❤. They said true, Why limit yourself to The world's Expectations?
Their story is sooo not over! I'm excited for the next book in the series😍.
P.s. Darla's Fam was fun!
I never wanted this to end but like every beautiful story, it ended. I'm really proud of RAOC band, they've come so far!

The characters in this series are endearing to me. I have followed all of them from book one written many years ago. Ms. Kent is an instant click author for me. The words on the page fluid, and delightful. I throughly enjoy these romantic comedies.
I was so excited when I saw that this book was coming out...Random Acts of Baby...which member of the band would be the one to have the baby was my original thoughts. Boy was I surprised when I starting reading the book (thank you Julia Kent for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced copy prior to its release). First thoughts were wow, oh boy that did not just happen and how could you not know that were having a baby...well I guess it does happen and probably more often than we think. So we have Darla, Joe and Trever together, we see Alex and Josie along with some other memorable family members. There are rest area sex stops with police involvement, people yelling in the Walmart parking lot "get a room this is a family store", run in's with chickens, eggs and shoes. There are some laugh out loud moments, tears, sighs and you go girl sexy moments along with some swoon worthy acts... We see changes in this book and to find out what they are you will need to read the book. Once I started it I could not put it down and finished it in just two sittings. I love the dynamic of the characters within this series and look forward to future books in this series, You have another hit on your hands Julia Kent!!!
Once again we get to meet up with Darla, Joe and Trevor, as well as Josie and Alex and a few faces back home in Peters - I LOVE getting to catch up with characters!!
You will get from the blurb that there's a surprise baby....guess who?!? I bet you don't guess right 😘 but I'm saying no more!!
The humour in this book/series really is spot on! It's just so me lol! We have the usual expected yet unexpected carry on 😂😂😂😂 we have some really touching moments, some growing up moments, some sexy moments (oh to be Darla for a day....) Everything was just plain spot on, I thoroughly enjoyed it, read it in one sitting because I just couldn't not finish it and it's made me want to do a full re-read!
An excellent addition to the series Julia, you have once again nailed it!!!
5 well deserved stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
*I voluntarily received an arc from the author and this is my honest review.
Oh Darla and your ill-timed libido! Julia Kent once again plunges us into the world of The Random Acts of Crazy crew and this time starts with a major spoiler right in chapter one. Just when you didn’t think you could love Darla, Joe and Trevor more, you get this laugh out loud, heartwarming story about what it means to be “family” and what you do for the ones you love - public sex, yard chickens, an extended visit to Peters, OH and all that ensues.
You'd think after 10 books, there'd be nothing that could surprise you about the Random Acts of Crazy crew. But then, you'd be wrong.
There's nothing that can be shared about the plot without huge spoilers, but this book is WILD!! It had me snort laughing my whole way through but also had some really impactful emotional moments too.
It's always a good day to visit with the Random family. I can't wait to see what they have coming.
* I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have been dying for this book to come out. I thought I knew exactly who was going to have a baby and was anxious to see exactly how Julia Kent made the labor and delivery absolutely hilarious and lovely at the same time.
From chapter one, I was in for a surprise. This book is filled with hilarity and passion but we get to watch some of our favorite characters grow up and come to major realizations when a new baby unexpectedly enters their lives.
Personally I appreciate that she touched on infertility and the hurt that is experienced when "everyone else" is having babies and you can't. The mixture of joy, sadness, and anger that is felt when a loved one has a baby and you can't conceive is something that is not talked about.
I read this book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down. I wish I could say more but I feel like even mentioning character names is a spoiler!
This is Random Acts of Baby, book 11 in the Random series written by Julia Kent. I can’t begin to tell you how amazing this series is!! You will fall in love with the small town of Peters and the crazy group of people that live or lived there! Darla Jo Jenkins is back with her two sexy boyfriends Joe and Trevor as they try to navigate the “feels bombshell” that comes with a newborn baby. I dare you to try not to laugh as you find the guys in yet another compromising situation!! The laughs never end with this series and the sweetness will have have you swooning. Come on in people, the water is fine. ;p
An event has the family congregating in Ohio. Darla is “from” there, and while she most people still there, doesn’t quite fit in there anymore after living in Massachusetts. Her men Trevor and Joe are traveling with her to support her. The band wants them back in MA to practice.
An emotional, and somewhat riotous story of family – both blood and chosen. Relationships, fitting in, how early events affect you into adulthood and choices made to keep your family near.
**I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book**
Another hilarious story about Darla, Joe & Trevor, who end up getting some news about a surprise baby. All three end up in Darla’s hometown, trying to avoid wet holes when falling out of a rented house’s birth canal into an animal kink room, where the animals have fancy high heel shoes... There's a bit of a baby fever, with all its implications... With family gatherings, where chickens go limp when you turn them upside down (just like - uh - other things, too!), fowl play with an eggsturbation incident & shoes, this book has everything!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!
As always, Juoia Kent's writing is funny and poignant. I was happy to see Josie and Alex (one of my favorite couples ever ) again although sad they aren't getting everything they want. Hopefully we'll see more from them. 4.5 stars.
I don't know about you, but this ain't my jam. Maybe it's also because I haven't read the previous books. But I can't deny that it's funny and I enjoyed reading all the family members' antics.
Full Disclosure, I got this book as an ARC. I was new to RAOC world before this. So, like any good fan, I read the entire Random, Billionaires and Obedient series (in order) before reading this one! I have absolutely enjoyed living almost 10 years of their world in the last few weeks:) Back to Random Acts of Baby, I loved this book. It made me laugh while I cried and cry while I laughed. In this one, Darla, Trevor and Joe end up in Darla's hometown spending time with a new baby and the whole family. As always, there are tons of laugh out loud moments that find them in the weirdest of situations that leave us gasping for air:) Trevor and Mavis steal the show of course! With her usual flair, Julia Kent talks about miscarriages, living in a trashy trailer park, losing loved ones and such harsh truths of life with grace and humor and shows us the power of family love and human resilience. What pulls my heartstrings is the growing up of the threesome. Having just read the whole series, it is really wonderful to watch them grow in this book from new adults to responsible adults. Growing up is HARD! but they do it with lots of love, laughter and of course steamy sex! While the baby is the latest in the family, everyone seems to be being reborn into their better selves. The only shortcomings in this book to me are that it is not as light as the others in the series and while grown up Trevor and Joe steal the show, grown up Darla seems lesser than her younger self. Fans of the series will undoubtedly love this book. Newcomers to the series like me will enjoy this book too but I would recommend reading the previous ones to enjoy it to the max. I look forward to more books in this series.
This story was hilariously raunchy, as is typical for this series. I always laugh so much when I'm reading them that my husband thinks I'm losing it. The stories are so fun, and the characters are so wonderfully flawed -- I enjoy them all so much, and this one was no exception. This one also has some really sweet scenes with Darla, Joe, Trevor, and Darla's family to go along with all the steamy times.
I would recommend, though, that you start with the 1st book in the series, Random Acts of Crazy -- as knowing all the characters and previous plot lines will make this book much better.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
It’s great to be back in the Random world again. There’s never a dull moment with this crew, what with their witty one liners and Darla’s ill timed libido, they can always be relied on to provide some much needed hilarity and high jinx when you most need it.
However, it’s not all fun and games. although there are plenty of those too, together with the odd hilarious mishap. This book definitely had a more emotional feel to it which took me by surprise. Although she’s still her sassy, outrageous self, there’s a vulnerability to Darla I don’t think I’ve seen before, or at least not for some time. There’s also a certain poignancy to the story I wasn’t expecting. Nevertheless, baby fever abounds, which is just wonderful. I think its effects took everyone by surprise, not least of all the men who, with just one sniff of a baby’s head, turned into melting puddles of goo. I loved it, and I loved them even more than I already did. As crazy and chaotic as this bunch and their various relatives can be at times, there’s nothing like a new baby to bring everyone together, to get them thinking about the future and what family, in all it’s diverse forms, actually looks like. An unconventional, irreverent, step over the line and often presumptuous family they may be, but a family nonetheless. Random Acts of Baby is a journey of self reflection for this trio and I was very glad I got to tag along for the ride.
I’m not ashamed to admit I did an internal happy dance when I heard there would be another Random book. Add in that the word baby is in the title and that internal happy dance turns into an all out squee of happiness. I have greatly missed the characters in this prolific and extremely witty series. Catching up with them is like catching up with old friends—the craziest, sexiest, and most outrageous friends you’ve ever had. The growth—both physically and emotionally—that these characters have experienced from the first book to now is readily apparent in this story. This book feels like a homecoming. And like all homecomings, there are bittersweet elements as these characters try to adjust to “adulting” and struggle to marry the past with the present while planning a future that respects the lessons learned in each. Julia Kent masterfully portrays these characters coming of age while navigating life and love. Learning to embrace adulthood and all that comes with it is not easy—as these characters experience—but this story artfully depicts the process in hilarious and heartwarming fashion. I honestly cannot recommend this book and this entire series highly enough.
* I was given an ARC of this book and voluntarily chose to review. All of my opinions are honest and entirely my own.
Can I give this 5 x infinity stars? I love this series and these characters...so imagine my fan-girl “squeeeeee” of delight when I found out this was coming out...you may have to imagine the windows shattering as dogs howl due to the high pitched and loud fan-girling. Yes, it is like that...don’t judge me. Read the book and make the noises WITH me. I’ll wait for you if you need time to read these and get there.
I digress. Poor Joe and his sex-related mishaps? Check. Trevor and an awkward (squawkward?) egg-splaining? Check. The ridiculous hijinks that often occur? Check.
Laughter, love and a well constructed plot? Of course! This is a Julia Kent book...you clearly need to go read some more before asking such absurd questions! Otherwise, your ignorance shows like the freak flag that these characters fly without shame or fear.
Now I will have to wait for more of this universe. It won’t be in the closet, in a towel, with a chicken while I break eggs and hide from my lover’s parents. Oddly specific? Yes.
But I will wait in all other ways while ready to pre-order it before the title is chosen. Seriously, no questions are asked, aside from “why don’t I have this already”. I just hit that one-click button and wait for that goodness.
Darla, Trevor, Joe and the whole Random Acts crew are all back and with exciting baby news. It is crazy how one bundle of joy can interrupt and throw Darla for an emotional rollercoaster ride. It is nice to see how the baby news showed us how Trevor and Joe have matured (to a certain point😉) and how the three of them still have a solid relationship.
Yes, this book, just as the others in the series, gives us absolutely hilarious situations, but don't forget that there are always sexy moments with this trio too. I loved that we get to really feel more emotions from all f Darla's crazy relatives and friends in her off beat town in Ohio. I love this series and have enjoyed the antics that these three find themselves in on a regular basis and now throwing a baby into the mix really has made them all think about their past relationships with their families and what their future holds for them all together too.
If you haven't started this series yet, don't start here. Do yourself a favor and order book one and follow the full series into this book. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
Random Acts of Baby is the latest installment in the Random series, and it definitely did not disappoint. Julia Kent is BRILLIANT describing scenarios and making the book so friggin funny that you can't help but laugh out loud!
There were several parts of this book that were memorable! The water leak and ceiling incident... OMG!! I think I even snort-laughed. And the part where Travis was literally in the closet w/ the shoe and the chicken.... Holy moly, did I ever crack up. I even had to describe this to my husband just so he could understand why I was laughing so hard.
While I was a bit surprised at who had the baby... (I couldn't even IMAGINE!), the story was extremely well written, creative, hilarious, and still managed to show love. I absolutely love Darla, Travis and Joe!!! I hope the next one has some sort of ceremony to at least bind the three of them together so they at least know what to call themselves and how they are related to Darlas family!!!
I absolutely recommend this book and series. I received an ARC for my honest review.
SURPRISE - imagine that phone call from your 'quiet' step-daddy.
At home in Boston, receiving a call from her mostly silent stepfather, shocks Darla into a faint.
The dynamics of the surprise baby story along with the chaotic life of being part of a band collide in this touching story. Trevor and Joe finding a rhythm to balance out Darla’s suddenly insane family dynamics pulls you into the story.... waiting on the edge for what’s going to happen next.
There are so many funny one-liners that had me laugh so hard that I had tears in my eyes. Yet, there’s so much joy and angst and other emotions from the sub characters and their current life situations as well.
Joe and Trevor in this story ground Darla when she feels her world spinning out of control. Darla and the guys mature to a new level just because of a surprise baby brother and an unplanned trip to Darla’s hometown.
Another five star, knock it out the park for Julia Kent. Ms. Kent delivers satire, humor, angst, regret, and longing while still ending the story on a happy note.

Random Acts of Baby... Random Acts of Crazy bk 11 by Julia Kent.
Julia has only done it again with yet another fantastic book to add to the great Random Acts of Crazy series. Julia continues to write magnificent stories bringing all characters to life. We are back in Peter's ,Ohio with Darla,Trever and Joe, we also see Alex and Josie here too. There is a lot going on in this book, all good filled with loads of emotions, chickens too did someone call Mavis!(there is a scene with a naked person!who can that be? a chicken ,eggs,a shoe all in a closet)and of course a surprise baby too. HOWEVER,how can you not know that you are pregnant? There is a spoiler was in the very first chapter.(not telling you) You do really need to purchase the book to find out more😉 Random Acts of Baby sizzled, making it a gripping story that will have you glued to the very end. A guaranteed must read. You can not go wrong with a Julia Kent book👍Thank you Julia for this advance copy, this is my honest review. *its amazing, hilarious a great story that kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end. I loved it I strongly recommend it. 5**
Though I love & anxiously await every book Julia Kent writes, her Random Acts of Crazy series is probably my favorite. Still, I didn't know how much I needed a dose of Darla. There's just no one like her. Loud, brash, smart, loving & so, so funny, she's the glue that holds the Random Acts of Crazy band, friends & family together.
In "Random Acts of Baby", Darla is summoned home to small town Ohio. Mama needs her. Anyone who knows Darla can guess that she drops everything & hits the road. With her two guys, Trevor & Joe, in tow, hilarity is bound to ensue...and, boy, does it. Without giving the story away, there are free roaming yard chickens, interrupted outdoor sex, outrageous relatives, quirky townsfolk, attacking domiciles &, most importantly, a surprise baby. No, you can't make this stuff up but, luckily, Julia Kent can.
For readers new to Julia Kent's Random Acts series, you should really start with the first book, Random Acts of Crazy, which first introduces you to this zany triad of Darla, Trevor and Joe. I think it's crucial to understand the dynamic behind how these three first met and became a throuple. For fans of Random Acts series, we meet a more mature version of this threesome brought on by a surprise baby and a visit back to Darla's hometown. Since this book is told from a triple point of view, we explore the conflicted feelings each of the main characters experiences when meeting the new baby and what its presence now means in their lives. This book is a bit more "serious" than some of their previous stories, but it's a necessary development as they forge further into their "adult" relationship, and there are still plenty of LOL moments or it wouldn't be Darla, Trevor and Joe!
