“Honestly, none of this makes sense…”

When they come to, Haruhiro and the others find themselves in the darkness. None of them remember much more than their own names. The only one they can rely on is Merry, who, for some reason, hasn't lost her memories. Once they get out of the darkness, they find Alterna destroyed.

First and foremost, what they need is information. Narrowly escaping the town with their lives, they use the skills and abilities their bodies remember to race across the frontier of Grimgar. Then, they meet the forces of the Kingdom of Arabakia, set to take back Alterna?!
The tale of adventure born from the ashes enters its end game!

A breeze of fresh air, with the return to Grimgar. A entertaining book, easy and light read.
Parano arc is finally over and to never come back, or so I expect.
The group is back in the Tower, but apart from Merry, everyone had losses their memories. Somehow, they had retained some sensation or feeling of what they were. Which is very frustration because as the book goes on, they do not get the memories back, but they are able to just perform as good as when they were fully aware of their previous training. Most of the book is just them doing this or that by reflexes or muscle memory or that it feels right to do it so as stated, a little bit frustrating in that matter but it doesn’t run the pace or story.
The group got back on Alterna but it had been taken over by Goblinkin (follow up on events that happened on 14++ on Yume’s chapter when Frogan assault the town), so they had to run away from there to keep looking for some same place. Great to keep the world alive and changing, since the start they mentioned that many places had change hand over the years and this is a nice touch which add just confusion to the group as with only Merry memories they knowledge is quite limited.
They travel to other locations that they knew of or went by over the different books, with almost no avail, until they bump into a group of soldiers from the Kingdom of Arabakia. We finally found out a little bit on how the rest of the human race is doing in Grimgar.
The mission of that army is to take back Alterna and the group is somehow forced into working with them. They all travel back and sneak into Alterna were some survivors remains. One of them, or at least the one we are presented is Barbara-sensei, that with just a few lines mostly found out that something is wrong with Haruhiro and therefore the rest of the group. Some heartwarming and meaningful moments happens during this part. During the battle we get to have a life lesson again, as this series has shown before. (I had to read those paragraphs a few times due to disbelief and shock and more or less the always messy fight descriptions, in Japanese it does makes a tiny winey little bit more sense)
In the end they are able to take the town back and the group received the news that still some volunteer soldiers still alive and fighting.
On the last chapter we get to briefly see that group of volunteer soldiers, or just Yume and Ranta which just makes me happy as I love those two characters, they have grown a lot during the series development.
The book leaves many things still not clear as; will the group get their memories. Shihoru has done something amazing as to get Dark back but still a mage with no memories of their training is just useless.
I have hopes to see the group all back together but is I recall correctly, groups in Gimgar are up to 6 as per initial “rules”. That might mean that either someone is kicking the bucket later on, or that Ranta is not joining back. Still, the series is back on track with some great adventures ahead, hopefully no more weird parallel worlds or whatever as Parano was just painful to read, great concept and ideas but just didn’t fit the series at all.

The second time!

It's the name of one of the chapters in this volume and that aptly describes this volume. They lose their memories for yet another time and are thrusted into the world of Grimgar again.

While it's glad to see that most characters didn't change much, I personally think this will not make a good concluding arc unless the author wraps up the story pretty fast in the end. Only Merry retains her memories probably cuz of her weird disposition, Haru meets Barbara sensei again after 4 years (there is a 2+ years time skip due to them being trapped in Parano), during which humans lose control of Alterna.

Kuzaku still is the favourite member of the group for me, he's literally the best. I remember being so disappointed in him when he first joined the team, but he really develops as a character in the past few volumes.

Congratulations on your second memory loss, adventurers~ Nonetheless, this was an interesting new start in a Grimgar where things took a turn for the worse. I can't wait to see how this new arc unfolds.

Old cat is back in action, as the story enters its final arc. Really great volume, loses 1 star because it starts slow

Thoroughly enjoyed this reading. Were there parts that had me crying and anxious? Yes. But the crew was back just trying to survive and building bonds. They’ve come such a long way but still have a long way to go.
