Bradford is as colorfully mysterious as he is heartachingly complicated. Not quite perfect, yet almost completely broken takes on a life of it's own. Reluctantly Rescued is a story that needs to be told more often. It's a story of empathy and acceptance that packs a whole lot of love. Joanna is the best of what humanity has to offer. An optimist whose heart is one of her greatest assets. She leads with her heart and hopes for the best. The cynic and the optimist pulls emotions to the surface with more than little humor and an all encompassing heart. You can't help but love them and won't soon forget them.

Bradford has always been a background figure till now, helping others, doing the dirty work no one else wants or can do.
Joanna is going to bring him into the light, help him, guide him and love him.
She’s determined and selfless at heart and has a passion for saving life, few can match.
To me this is where she and Bradford click.

He’s a Mercenary of sorts, where he use to do as he was bid now he works as he sees a need and is required, when someone innocent is in trouble he’s the one to help them .
But all that violence and pain has to damage a man .
Bradford is gruff, mean, hard faced, rarely smiles, his only friend is Ian.
I felt this man’s pain and freely admit to shedding a few tears .
I can see how Joanna just wanted to fix him, but he’s not an easy man.

This was so well written by Ruth, it blew me away with the emotions from the two of them, the pain and the love you could feel that poured off the pages, it was wonderful and so passionate.

I loved every page and could have kept reading gladly no matter how long the book.
These types of books are what I live to read, ones that bring out my emotions.
Thankyou Ruth

If anyone needed a story of Redemption, it was our strong Bradford. He always stood on the outside and protected those who needed his help most.

Bradford felt deeply but unless you were close to him, you would never see past the mask he erected. You only saw the scars, the tattoos and the strength. The Barringtons' saw beyond his mask and recognized the good within.

Joanna had her sights set on Dylan and at a party stuck up a conversation with Bradford, who was trying his best to ignore her but something about Joanna drew out a different side of him and he hated it and tried to avoid her.

She challenged him as no one else did and felt something that even she didn't understand. All it took was one dinner to realize that Dylan, as good looking as he was, wasn't the one for her.

Fairy God-father Clay saw a spark between Joanna and Bradford and decided they should be his next project. Too bad Bradford didn't feel the same...until "Reluctantly" something magical happened!

This is such a fantastic book and I couldn’t stop reading. Joanna is such a ray of sunshine, and Bradford is her opposite. Loved how she still smiles and warms up to him. They end up with such chemistry. This book is so heartwarming. Had some happy tears over their fairy Godfather (Clay) and his over the top shenanigans. Really loved their happy ever after and I’m already ready to re read this book, it’s that good. I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy and I highly recommend this book.

Bradford Wilson has done too many things in his life to ever be blessed with love, home and family. He feels like his soul is just too dark to deserve anything good in life so he does what he does best and that is to stand alone in a crowd; never getting close to anyone. Enter Joanna Ervin who is very determined to be his friend and pull him out of the darkness. Bradford very reluctantly allows her to show him what life could be like if he would just give them a chance. When evil touches Bradford and Joanna, he is afraid there is no happy ever after for them. With a little help from a fairy godfather and loving friends, Bradford thinks he might have a chance with Joanna after all.

You never know what kind of a story you’re going to get from a Ruth Cardello book. There will definitely be laughter, a lot of fun and silly, but look out for the tears for characters who deserve so much more than life gives them. You will also get a helping dose of happy ever after done in the most romantic ways this author can come up with, new and fresh with each story. I have to say that Bradford Wilson is definitely a hero I can love. He didn’t deserve what life had given him so he withdrew from everyone around him. My heart broke for his dark loneliness but as always there is a strong, loving and fun heroine in Ms. Cardello’s stories. Joanna was definitely a sweetheart who knew exactly what it would take to “rescue” Bradford.
Reluctantly Rescued was definitely a perfect title for this story. I whole heartedly recommend this book as well as the previous stories about the Barrington’s and all they’ve gone through to get to their happy ever after’s.

I was looking forward to Bradford’s story. He carries so much weight on his shoulders. So serious and cold. I really wanted him to be able to smile and find happiness. All of the horrible things that he has been through, and done himself, have made him feel unworthy of love and peace. Being connected to the Barrington family would change all of that. Joanna was sweet and sassy. Not afraid of Bradford, nor intimidated by his grumpy nature. I loved that she pushed him to talk to her and break down the walls he had around himself. Her rescue farm was amazing, and I think it played a big role in his journey as well. It was a really great story.

I have been unashamedly waiting for Bradford’s story and Ruth did not disappoint.
Bradford leads a mysterious life and lets no one in. His job is to protect the Barrington family and has no time for relationships. Until Joanna. Joanna, who owns a mini horse rescue ranch, has made it her mission to draw Bradford out, and enjoy life. But Bradford pulls back, not counting on a woman who is determined to rescue him.

Oh, Bradford. He carries the weight of all his known and perceived wrongs around his heart. He doesn't believe in love, that he can love, that he deserves love but Joanna is different. For one she won't let him wallow. She pushes him beyond anything he thought he couldn't do or have. Joanna is so straight forward sometimes you want to put your hand over her mouth. She runs a mini horse rescue. Joanna is a saver. Horses, People pretty much every living thing because they all have a right to live. The newest addition to the Barrington family, because if you're a friend of one of them it makes you family. I loved this book. I could be read as a stand alone but much better to read the series from the beginning to bring in the whole family dynamic. I highly recommend this book and series for a laugh, a cry, and a happily ever after.

Bradford has a past, and as much as he'd like to see himself as a hero, that isn't the picture he has painted. Instead, he sees all of the ugly parts of his job, the ones that keep him from finding what everyone looks for. Joanna is a softy, looking for the dream. She sees a side of Bradford he never would have pictured because she cares for animals who have been abandoned and neglected, so she recognizes the signs of his brokenness. When they finally begin to see what could be, sparks fly, but there's a hidden element that will surprise them and could be more dangerous than either of them can see.

I haven't read one of this author's books in a while and it was a welcome change. Now, I feel like I need to go back and read the others before it. I truly enjoyed it.

"Reluctantly Rescued" is book nine in The Barrington Billionaires and is a great addition to the series. This book has the perfect title because Bradford, the hero, is reluctant to believe in love among other things. He feels like he is not deserving of anything good in life because of the bad things he has done, although these bad things were done for very good reasons. Joanna is the total opposite of Bradford, yet she sees the good in him and will not stop until she makes him also see that good.
This is a heartwarming romance with family and friends.

Loved it

I have been waiting for Bradford's story! I have loved him from the other books in the series. Joanna is the perfect match for him and helped him realize he can have a real life. Godfather extraordinaire Clay is the greatest. Dont know how he comes up with his ideas.

You had me at "Starring: Clay Landon as Fairy Godfather Extraordinaire." Ruth has once again written a romantic comedy that is equal in both. The best thing about Bradford is that he has been the straight man to everyone else's crazy in the previous books and it was great being able to see him in his own story. Bradford and Joanna definitely do show that opposites attract and seeing Bradford turn into a man who is more than a bodyguard and confidant was definitely a good payout on the wait.

Loved this book

This is what I needed! Bradford and Joanna’s story brought me out of my romance book funk. It’s been hard for me to find a great book to read recently and I’m so excited to have the Barrington family and clan back in my life, even if it’s just for one night.

Truly was smitten with Bradford and Joanne I’m Reluctantly Rescued by Ruth Cardello. She writes story’s full of emotion that pull you in and make you want to surround yourself with from the get go.

Joanne was a character that I loved. She couldn’t help wanting to save those around her. She won’t allow Bradford to wallow in the darkness. She brings him out to the light and I truly adored her for that. I truly felt Bradfords pain and just wanted to see the two of them find their HEA.

Even though this book can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend checking out the other books before.

5 stars for Bradford and Joanne!

I can’t say enough about this book. Bradford has my heart. Honestly when I first read the description I was a bit skeptical because I wasn’t sure how these two personalities could possibly mesh but WOW Joanna is just absolutely perfect for him and fireworks when they are together. Truly a happily ever after. This book had it all. A great addition to an already wonderful series and with the sparks flying off of Aly and Dylan I am impatiently awaiting their books arrival next!

The Assassin takes a shot to the heart

It goes without saying really… this is book 9 in a series that is best read right from book 1… however Bradford Wilson only begins to appear from around book 6 or 7 (Ian and Claire’s story mostly) so if you want to jump in somewhere, you could start from there. But in all honesty, it’s such a great series… read them all. They are amazing and they all create this huge, complex family that just keeps getting bigger and better.

So… Bradford Wilson… he is elusive, secretive, mysterious and darkly dangerous. Best friend of Ian Barrington, he has lived a difficult life from losing all his family through devastating circumstances and escaping death more times than many could even contemplate. He’s taken peoples lives as part of his job but also as his own vengeful justice. Because of this, Bradford has refused to allow anyone to come close to his heart. Not only due to not wanting being anyone into the dangers he faces and potentially lose them too… but he cannot believe that anyone could see him as anything but a cold hearted killer.

However, the of the Barrington family and their associated friends he meets, the more he realises that people are willing to offer him love and friendship without ties or expectations.

Joanna is brought into Bradford’s life by one such association and as much as Bradford tries to fight it, his attraction is instant and deepens every time he meets her. Staying away from her is proving difficult, and with everyone encouraging their union he’s struggling to admit that he doesn’t want her.

Joanna is such a pure and beautiful soul that even when confronted with the worst of his past, she doesn’t run away. Instead she runs to him and challenges Bradford to stay and face what she knows he truly wants but refuses to believe he deserves.

With Clay Landon playing Fairy Godfather it’s going to be difficult for Bradford to back down but by the time his first date with Joanna is done it has him wondering whether denying himself someone like Joanna would be worse than seeing where things lead.

But with a past so full of death and vengeance will they ever be safe? Or has he just put the one person he’s ever feared to lose right in harms way?

I absolutely loved this story. I guess it’s the huge personality turn around that does it for me, because like Ian in book 7, Bradford comes from a dark place… but Joanna is his light and his saviour. He is usually the one doing the saving, but in truth Joanna saves Bradford from himself - from his own self loathing and self-depreciation.

The turn around love story is heartfelt and emotional and you can feel that constant eternal battle he has… but with someone like Joanna to help him see his real worth, he was bound to become the person everyone knew he could be.

Loved that my two favourite characters (Connor and Dylan Sutton) still played a role in this story and I’m looking forward to Dylan’s love story next.

Honestly these books really do just keep getting better… but seriously… make sure you start right from the beginning… and maybe even start right back where it all began with The Legacy Collection. It would be well worth it.

I received a free ARC copy of this book from the author prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I have read this entire series and absolutely adore it. But this is book 2 in an offshoot of the original series. If you have not read this series before, well you are missing out and I would definitely start with book one.

The plot of the Barrington series is that Sophia and Dale Barrington had a bunch of children and one ended up drowned though they never found the body. The whole families life was changed from that one event. Their mother became fragile and suffered a nervous break down and it affected how all the children related to their parents, each other and finding love.

As this is book 9 in the series and 2 in the related to Barrington series, all the children have found love and yes, the child thought to have drowned didn't and so he is now a part of the stories going forward. The last son to find love was Grant Barrington with Viv and she had two fun brothers named Dylan and Connor. The two brothers ended up in Hollywood and Grant asked his best friend to help keep the brothers safe and teach them about the evil world and that was Bradford. He and Grant were mercenaries over the years.

In the last book Connor (book 8 and book 1 of the offshoot Barrington series) found love but Dylan is still available and Joanna is a friend to Viv and she thinks Dylan is hot. So at a family event she tries to get to know him and asks Bradford for help. But Bradford is hot for Joanna. So the book starts with a love triangle of sorts but it ends fast.

Joanna then realises she is very into Bradford but Brad is a sweet guy with a heart of gold but a very dark and messy past and so he does not think he is good enough for Joanna. Enter Clay who is married to Lexi and is brother in law to the Barringtons. He has a lot of money and time and he decides to help Joanna out and help her land Bradford.

This story was a lot of fun and very much beauty and the beast with a fairy godmother. Its book 2 in the Barrington friends offshoot of the main series. But it easily can stand alone. We do get to see a lot of Grant and Sophia and Dale and the rest of the Barrington's are not featured that much in it. But I think that helps it stand alone where the first 7 books don't stand alone.

Love Conquers All!!!

Bradford "Ford" Wilson was Ian's ( NEVER GOODBYE ) friend, Sophie Barrington and the rest of the family wanted to adopt him but the man wasn't having any of it. He liked Connor Sutton, they became friends very fast, so when he was to attend his new friend's engagement party, he couldn't say no. Plus he was asked by Ian Barrington to oversea the security.

He didn't like people very much but the Barringtons, along with their never ending extended loved ones were his to protect, no matter what. Even one of Angelina's best-friends, Joanna Ervin. A woman who'd caught his eyes but she didn't see him cause she was focus on someone else.

Joanna Ervin had her sight set on Dylan Sutton, the latter we've met him in previous books. If anyone was going to rescue her, she wanted it to be him but life always throws us some curveballs. She got what/whom she needed not who she wanted.

Ford's story pulled at my heartstrings, loved how Joanna wanted to rescue him, no matter what. She did that and much more, she gave him the redemption he was looking for. Loved how he finally accepted the fact that he was worthy or the love she, the Barringtons, Connor, Dylan and Clay Landon showed him. He was loved.

It was a treat to catch up with previous characters and meeting new ones. Ford got his HEA and we couldn't be happier for him.

RELUCTANTLY RESCUED is the ninth book in Ruth Cardello's BARRINGTON BILLIONAIRES series. What a phenomenal, heartwarming and adventurous journey. Magnificent job, Ruth Cardello. Two thumbs up!! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Reluctantly Rescued was such a cute read. Loved it from beginning to end. I haven't read the rest of the books in this series, but I am definitely going to change that very soon.

Bradford believes he doesn't deserve happiness or love or a family. After losing his parents and sister so early and brutally he's been alone outside of his best friend Ian who he met while in the service. Since leaving the military he's spent his time taking out the darkest and most sinister criminals the world has to offer. He's killed many people and can only see the taint of blood on his hands.

When he meets Joanna he has an instant connection, too bad she's talking about her attraction to a different man. A month later they're thrown together again and Joanna realizes the guy she thought she wanted isn't the man she wants at all.

Joanna and Bradford's relationship is so cute. It's filled with love and caring. I loved Bradford and how he fought tooth and nail to accepting that he was loved and that he deserved happiness. Joanna was so cute and the perfect match for Bradford. She was understanding and loving to Bradford's rougher and harsher personality.

Definite must-read. I didn't feel like I needed to read the other books in the series to understand and love the characters in this story, which I appreciated, but I can't wait to read the other books. A definite must-read.

Reluctantly Rescued by Ruth Cardello is the ninth book in The Barrington Billionaires, and it did not disappoint!

From the very start the hilarious antics and charming characters had me drawn into the story, wanting to get to know them all better, wanting to hang out with them, wanting to be in the know! Luckily, as the reader, we get that behind the scenes access looking into people's thoughts and takes on events, and let me tell you, it is so worth it!

Bradford and Joanna? Priceless! They are such perfect foils of one another, definitely fulfilling that stereotype of the grumpy one and the sunshiny one, one of my absolute favorites! And their conversations? Simply wonderful and delightfully representative of their personalities, even as they shape and grow throughout the story.

There's action, there's drama, there's tension, there's sizzling chemistry, there's moments of sweetness, moments of realization, and so much more jam-packed into this world and more specifically this story!

If you're looking for an engaging read with a bit of edge and a whole lot of sweet, look no further!

P. S. I would dearly love Dylan and Aly's story please and thank you!

A lot of fluff

As the title of my review suggests, this story is a whole lot of fluff, and not so much substance. It's instalove so fantastical and absurd one simply rolls their eyes as they read on. I really looked forward to Bradford's book because I just knew he was a tortured soul, but honestly, all of his issues were just lightly skimmed and forgotten as some superficial or trivial detail. I felt that this book seemed too rushed, especially based on his character. I also REALLY wish the book wasn't written in third person. It makes it harder to get involved with the characters. I have really loved Ruth Cardello's books, but with the last two in this series, I've kind of felt a little disappointed. There's been little angst, or climax. This story truly did not peak until the very end, and then it just rushed right on to the happily ever after. I'm still looking forward to the follow up for the Corisi series, and REALLY hope it has more substance than the last two Barrington books.

Bradford is a lost & lonely man who believes his soul is too dark to ever have love & family. Joanna is that person who is the light in a dark world as she's just a great person. She decides that she's going to be Bradford's friend, and there's no getting around it, so slowly but surely, Bradford has light in his life. Unfortunately, just when he's seeing the light, evil comes in to send him back into the darkness. Luckily, they have fantastic friends, and even a fairy godfather to help, so he won't be able to go loner again. Man, this story punched me in the feels cover to cover, but there's also an amazing heroine who made life fun, and I found myself smiling a lot. Reluctantly Rescued is a story that everyone needs to read, so hit those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Reluctantly Rescued by Ruth Cardello is another awesome story in the Barrington Series! I have so enjoyed the stories and characters that have come out in this series.

This is Bradford and Joanna’s story. Bradford has been introduced in a few of the books. For me he was the character you could wait to find more about. You knew there was more to him. Joanna finds that. I don’t want to give too much away but you know there could be only one person for Bradford. Joana is strong woman with beautiful heart.

I fell in the love with this book. This family clan is one you want to be part of. You can tell in this book and previous book how Bradford and now Joanna feel about the Barringtons.

Ruth Cardello did a great job of telling Bradford and Joanna journey together. This five stars!

This is part of the Barrington billionaires series by Ruth Cardello. All of these books can be a stand-alone, but there are so many repeating characters that it's more fun to read them all in order, including the other books that have character crossovers.

Joanna is a child's book author and miniature horse rescuer whose best friend just married a successful actor/Veteran's charity organizer and all around funny guy and part of the Barrington's extended family. Bradford is friends with the Barringtons, a CIA type agent, and all around gruff man who doesn't need anyone who keeps running into Joanna and sparks are flying between them.

The story is poignant in places, funny in places, a bit scary in places, and all around good story to read. Very enjoyable and I suggest you read them all. Available on kindle unlimited. Enjoy!

Broken but not destroyed

Bradford soul is tortured and he doesn't believe he is deserving of love for the things he has done but no one is more deserving than him, he just needs to see it. Joanne was the perfect woman to help him heal and accept the love she and so many other people around him wanted to give. My heart goes out to people like Brad who fight for the country and innocent that are exploited. It is hard to see them so tortured and even worse when they take their own life because of it as Joanne grandfather did. This is a very moving story where families come together to support each other. Clay London's character is fascinating, he puts the fairy tale element to the series. I can't wait for Dylan story. Is it the last book or will the Barringtons embrace more sons and daughters into their lives?

Bradford was his own worst enemy,  he thought he was too damaged to deserve a happy ending.  Along came Joanna, all glass half full with sunshine, roses and a swear jar.  And then add in Clay the self described fairy godfather. As hard as Bradford tried to stay away from her,  Joanna was like the siren call to his soul.  If ever two people were meant to find each other, it was these two.  Some may look at Bradford as being a cold hearted killer but really he was ridding the world of evil one bad guy at a time.  For as dark as he was,  she was his light.  I think he's finally seeing that he has more friends than just Ian.  I know they will have ups and downs but together they are working on their fairy tale.

Ruth Cardello has another stand alone story that's a part of the greater Barrington Billionaires world. I love the characters in this series as well as how she intricately weaves multiple storylines throughout the story while telling one complete story within this book.

I've always wondered about Bradford. He's been the silent and brooding man on the sidelines and I'm glad he finally got his spotlight. When he meets Joanna, he has met he match. She will not let him sway her in any way and will keep him on his toes - which of course made me love each of them more.

I can't wait to see what Ruth has in store for us next.

Obviously the author knows nothing about Black People

I enjoyed the story but got increasingly irritated when descriptions of our girl was given. Has she got midnight coloured skin or not? Descriptions given constantly about her skin colour and reactions were inconsistent and ridiculous. If your skin colour is a deep brown in tone then the constant changes in parlour described by this author is just not possible . Black people may have been described as "coloured" once upon a time but we certainly do not change colour from brown when our mood or feelings change. Do better research and don't insult a while race of people.
