From a fan favorite author with more than one million books Four women chase their dreams of love in this western historical series.Hilda Meyers lost everything on her journey to Canada—parents, husband and baby. The dreams of independence and security her husband espoused seem far too distant now. Especially when a fire halts her successful business. She tends the store for Burnsie while he is away, in exchange for lumber for the repairs.Miles Cardinal arrives in Willow Creek seeking the father he never knew. Instead of finding a man, he discovers Hilda running the store. Miles is instantly drawn to Hilda, but knows that someone with his history is no good for her. But that doesn’t stop him from falling for the feisty, independent woman. When Miles disappears without a word, Hilda believes she might lose everything once again. Will Miles prove her wrong?
Linda Ford grew up devouring books and making up stories in her head—often late at night when she couldn't sleep. But she hadn't planned to write. Instead, she dreamed of running an orphanage. In a way, that dream came true. She married, had four homemade children, adopted ten and lived (at times, endured) the dream.
Writing first took her to non-fiction human-interest articles for newspapers and eventually a non-fiction book about tuberculosis set in the 1930s and 1940s (Touched By The White Plague). But romance had always been her first love and she turned to writing love stories. She is multi-published in the CBA market.
She lives on a small ranch in Alberta, Canada, where she can see the mountains every day. She and her husband continue to enjoy their children and grandchildren.
Hilda, a woman of German descent, has come to this country to start a new life. Hilda's reality is that she has lost any family she had on the voyage and is now a widow making her way in life alone. Hilda has a business and a home but there's been a fire and Hilda is living and working in the general store across the street from her home. Hilda is taking care of the store for her friend Burnsie who has taken some time off to travel. Miles, a man of mixed races (white/Native American), has come to town to find Mr. Burns, whom Miles believes is his father. The story continues with Hilda and Miles getting to know each other. There are complications with the townspeople perceptions of the couple. The story concludes happily with answers for Miles about his birth father, Hilda and Miles' becoming a couple and another member of the family who comes as a surprise. This was a very enjoyable read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
After her three partners married and left her to run the café, Hilda Meyer had to hire someone to help her. That came to be a problem when the girl let the stove get to hot that it caught the café on fire. Making a deal with Burnsie, Hilda was running the General Store while Burnsie took a trip to the mountains. One day a young man shows up looking for Burnsie. He really needed to talk to him about something important, so he stayed in town to wait for Burnsie’s return. He needed a job and since Hilda’s ‘café repairperson’ skipped town, she hired Miles. There were problems with some of the townspeople and the young man that made things a little difficult. I will leave it at that! Another great series by a great author.
Where you go I will follow… What a lovely book to read while I am making yogurt and spending a peaceful Sunday morning. The story is so good Hilda Meyers has lost so much and now she is helping out at the general store while her business is repaired. That is when Miles Cardinal shows up. Secrets and drama are in this sweet western romance and it made for a very entertaining read. The time flew by that before I knew it was time for step two of my yogurt making. There are some splendid characters in this story too and I just know you will enjoy meeting them. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Another great story with life lessons hidden in the telling.
The characters are well done and dialogue fits them. The situations are tough, but most are set in the past, so we witness the effects of the retellings on their characters, not the situations first-hand.
Along with those harsh occurrences we see love unfold and families come together.
It's a sweet story with Christian overtones, but no preaching nor proselytizing.
In typical Linda Ford style she has penned a sweet and heartwarming story of grief, hardship, loss, discrimination, mistreatment, some not so nice folks, good friends, faith, and romance. This is Hilda and Miles' story, both of who have experienced lots of tragedy and heartache in their lives. Will they be able to navigate a small town's prejudices and injustice to find a HEA. Be sure to read this story to find out. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did.
German woman alone on western frontier(entire family died on board) who vowed never to love again. She has encounter another obstacle and is waiting for repair help. In rides a handsome Native American and later a ten year old 'half-breed'. both with information about their birth fathers. the Indian helps the lady and hey both help the boy. Issues: unconditional love and acceptance, prejudice.
Enjoyed this book a lot, clean Christian romance. did dock a star though because there were a few things that bothered me. In the previous books, Hilda was known to have an accent, with her Ws sounding liked Vs. In this one, she barely had that, I just don't think it's something that goes away. Also, there was a time when Miles addresses her as Hilda. I can't fully recall but I don't think Hilda gave her name? Maybe he overheard someone call her that? But I just thought it was off.

As always, Linda Ford provides readers with another heartwarming story. The last of the four friends to find love, Hilda meets a Miles, who came to Willow Creek to find his father. Such a touching book.
I have never understood prejudice and the hateful way people can be. It grieves my soul. Apart from that, this is a hood story with plenty of mystery as well. I like how the relationship grows over time, not rushed or sickly sweet. A very satisfying read.
All eight of the series have been such great stories and filled with humor, faith, and frienship. I am sad to have finished. I look forward to reading more from Linda Ford.
I enjoyed being part of the journey that lead the four young ladies to Willow Creek. Each girl was able to find her love under very different surcomstances. The Lord does work in mysterious ways and in His own time.
I love this author’s storytelling. She is so talented in weaving her characters in very believable adventures incorporating historical facts which hold you spellbound till the end.
This is a sweet heartwarming romance with just enough drama to keep you turning the pages. Hilda's story was a joy to read. I received a complimentary copy and this is my honest opinion.
