I'm a college student that is fascinated by technology and science. I enjoy reading during much of my free time, but also play with Pooky a lot. Pooky is the Border Collie in my profile pic. He had a surgery on the day I brought him home from the shelter, so he had to wear the cone around his head. (He doesn't wear the cone any more, but I love seeing the picture from the day I brought him home.) He's very friendly and playful. He's just so adorable, and one of his eyes is blue and the other is brown. Oh, this bio was supposed to be about me. I try to take care of my health, so I make an effort to jog in my minimalist shoes. I also try to maintain a healthier diet that doesn't include too many potato chips. After trying to explain what Bitcoin is for the ump-teenth time, I thought that my friends and family would enjoy reading about it in a little, silly book. And then My First Guide To Bitcoin was born! (Well, there were quite a few steps in between the decision and the birth, including a grueling semester, finals and a horrible pandemic.) I also like bananas.
That's about all I could say for myself. Bye

Beginning to make sense

This is the first time I've read anything about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies that didn't leave me scratching my head. Ok, I am still scratching, but only a little. It is a complex topic but I must admit I understand it better now than before. I bought a little Bitcoin a while ago. Now I know why. If you're in the dark about cryptocurrencies, this is definitely a place to start.

I got it during the Amazon free promotion on June 13. Regarding the topic, I've frequently heard people talk about bitcoin but never understood what it was. I hesitated to spend my time reading this because its childish cover (and illustrations) made me think this is just a book for kids. However, the author explains the concepts intelligently, as if he's speaking to an adult. He also cautions you from getting too hyped up and dumping all of your money into it. I liked the occasional humor and the ridiculous quotations at the beginning of the chapters. I still don't know the details of how bitcoin works, but this taught me some of the basics. All in all, I think it was a half hour well-spent.

It is an easy read on the subject, however I should have looked at the page length, as at about 20 pages long, this was never going to be an in-depth book and was not worth the money. Will be getting a better beginner's guide. For what it was, the content was fair enough, but I could have got this from a website, in one article.

It was cute and pretty short; I think it was like 30 or 40 pages. It explained Bitcoin in a simple way, as if the reader had no prior experience to the concepts and the kids liked the stick figure drawings.
