Pebble Cove is known for giving tourists the cold shoulder, but a frozen body is something new.
The people of Pebble Cove are thrown into a forced hibernation when the worst snowstorm in a decade hits the Oregon Coast. They expect to find damages once the snow thaws, but a frozen body down by the pier comes as a terrible surprise.
Rosemary is keeping warm with an abundance of chai tea, wooly sweaters, and further research into Asher's past. But when a second body is found, she can't deny the chilling thoughts that the two deaths might be connected. Or that this might not be the end.
Eryn Scott is the author of heartwarming cozy mysteries. Her novels feature close friendships and strong families because those are the most important things in her life -- a little humor doesn't hurt either.
She calls the Pacific Northwest home and doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon. Eryn loves to hike, horseback ride, knit, ski, and read. She believes musicals are the greatest thing since lattes, even though she's not particularly good at singing or dancing -- hey, a girl can dream, right?
Her first cozy mystery series, Pepper Brooks, is based on some of the greats in classic literature. Each book features a different author from Shakespeare to Austen. Eryn's newest series is set in a little town called Stoneybrook. The Stoneybrook Mysteries follow local jam-maker Hadley James as she solves mysteries in her town's year-round farmers market. From deceased knitters to sabotaged florists, these crafty citizens keep Hadley and her twin brother, a deputy sheriff, on their toes. Pebble Cove Teahouse Mysteries are great for readers who love a hint of paranormal with their mysteries. These books feature a tiny town tucked between craggy coastline and rocky shores with quirky characters of both the living and non-living variety. Look for new releases from all three of these series in 2022 as well as Eryn Scott's new cozy series.

Yeah! Another Pebble Cove Teahouse Mystery book! I'm absolutely loving this series and this new book was awesome, too. It did feel a little spookier, partly because the weather was gloomy through most of the story. I'm liking the new romance going on, I look forward to watching it grow and how it will add to future books. I'm really hoping Rosemary can't solve Asher's mystery, I don't want him to cross over. I did feel like there was something missing (maybe because it was such a quick read for me?), that is why I only gave it 4 stars. I was gifted an advanced reader copy and I'm volunteering my honest opinion.
4.5 Star review Chai, Chai Again (Pebble Cove Tea house Mystery #4) by Eryn Scott
AUDIO REVIEW:
It was fun being back in Pebble Cove. This is the fourth book in the latest series from Eryn Scott and I could not wait to see what was new in Pebble Cove. I love stories about small towns, add in mystery and I was all in.
Rosemary Woodmere is yet again involved in solving another crime. After the worst snowstorm to hit the Oregon coast recedes, a body is foubnd and it is up to Rosemary to do what she does best. When another body is discovered, Rosmary fears there could be a connection. She also continues to investigate the circumstances of her ghost Asher’s death. The more she learns, the more danger she is in. There were numerous twists and turns within the story and I found this an entertaining cozy mystery. The narrator Jennifer Jill Araya did a great job bringing this story to life and made this an entertaining listen; her voice is pleasant and easy to listen to.
I am usually hesitant to give cozy mysteries 5 stars but I think this has been my favorite book so far. Every single character has depth (both main characters and side characters), there is an interesting main plot mystery that kept me guessing and involved a little twist at the end as well as a side mystery which runs through all of the books trying to solve the mystery of the MC's ghost friend's death a hundred years ago, then there is friendship and maybe almost a spark of romance, AND there is family, and of course, the small town setting and all of the drama that comes with it--both human and ghostly. Basically I keep coming back for the comfy atmosphere of Rosmary's tea shop and the sweet friendship between her and her best friend Asher. The mystery of his wartime death are so intriguing. If you love the TV show Ghosts, this gives me those vibes. I can't stay away from this series!
Always a delight to read Rosemary and Asher’s adventures. I love the easy flow of the books, the great titles, the fantastic plots and sub plots and finally the open ending that always leaves the reader wanting more.
This is the fourth book in the Pebble Cove Teahouse mystery series by Eryn Scott.
I am really enjoying this series but I think the relationship between Asher and Rosie is a little odd. There will never be a way for them to get together romantically unless Asher somehow becomes a real boy in an upcoming book. Which I doubt will ever happen. Rosie was a little jealous of Asher’s new relationship with another ghost which I am happy to know she realized she was getting these feelings for him. I enjoy seeing them as working together to solve a mystery but when it gets past that point, it all just seems a bit odd.
The mystery itself was fun to follow and I loved seeing the police chief and Rosie’s mom getting air time and realizing that they just might be falling for each other. It made the mystery just that much more satisfying.
Great series to follow. Definitely going to dig into it more! So much fun to read!
If you love a cozy mystery, definitely check this one out. Great new must read book great series too!
The little town of Pebble Cove and Rosemary's teahouse are so cute, and the quirky locals add a lot of humor and fun to the story.
I loved getting more clues to the series overarching mystery of what happened to Asher in addition to the current murders they are trying to solve. This mystery takes a couple twists and turns that kept me guessing whodunit far into the book. Eryn does a nice job balancing the two mysteries and developing Rosemary and Asher's friendship.
I highly recommend reading this book and the entire series. They are perfect to read while curled up with a good cup of tea.
Thank you to the author for providing an ARC for an honest review.
Authors are Being Murdered "The people of Pebble Cove are thrown into a forced hibernation when the worst snowstorm in a decade hits the Oregon Coast. They expect to find damages once the snow thaws, but a frozen body down by the pier comes as a terrible surprise." Authors are being murdered by an unknown culprit. They are mistaken for the author that has stolen a book by someone else. I borrowed this book from Kindle Unlimited. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
When your best friends are ghosts it can lead to complicated situations. There is romance , mysteries current , mysteries historical ,twists, turns and a fun read. All clean.
I have a lot of thoughts about this installment but a few of them tread on spoiler territory so I'll tread lightly.
As with the previous books, this one recaps you on all the characters, so it could be read as a stand alone if it weren't for the fact that it gives away previous mysteries, I highly suggest you start at book one.
For me, from the very beginning of the book is was clear what why the killer was killing/what the pattern was, and who the two main suspects were, but I kept doubting my thoughts because Rosemary was so bend on it being . For many chapters I was yelling at her, WHY AREN'T YOU SEEING THESE CLUES THAT ARE RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. For a smart girl, she was very unobservant in this book, compared to the previous three. I had to remind myself she is still young. lmao
I feel so much for her as a person, and I hope in the next two books we can see some more of this major character growth. Each book has her coming more into herself, and discovering her own bit of self confidence.
Though the way she chose to bow down to her mom without raising her concerns when mom decided to move in on her town really hit me in the feels. She is trying to hard to become an independent adult, but still not there yet when it comes to tell her overbearing mom to stop snooping & get her own happy ending. Rosemary should have asked her to leave, or at the very least called her out on her behavior if mom was going to act like that.
To top that, she still has no friends that are alive, and has made up a whole person?!? to make it more normal that she is spending all of her time speaking with ghosts. I think this affects me so much because I totally remember being an introvert in college, and had there been ghosts to talk to I might never have branched out and made friends. I will be very sad for her if this series ends with her still friendless. (It would be big weird if she fell in love all of a sudden, but I hope for friendships.) The parts of this book that had her made me cringe. He is dead.
That being said, I do love that these books are really two mysteries, one helping a ghost cross over, and the other being an in town murder mystery. Plus the no romance plot has me so giddy. So hard to find cozies that don't have insta love.
I loved getting to know more of the town, and seeing Rosemary become more of a regular, helping new comers fit in as well. She is so empathetic and really has brought a great deal to the sleepy town of Pebble Cove.
Overall, this series has been one of my favorites to read in a long while, and I recommend it to anyone who loves cozies with a touch of paranormal. It has a great cross book plot arc that is Asher's mystery, and a fantastic main character growth arc.
I loved this book. This is such a great fun series and one that I am so glad I discovered. I just love the way all the towns ghosts (including the cat) get involved in solving the mystery, a unique take on the usual cozy ghost mysteries and one that really works well. The series has a long running mystery, where the author reveals a bit of information on how Asher died with each book. So from that point of view I would recommend that you start with book one and work your way through, it isn't strictly necessary as they could be read as standalones but as each book gets better and better the more you get to know the characters why would you want to miss out. Then there is a second mystery that does get solved. This mystery was interesting and I had no clue who the killer was. It is the characters the has me returning time and time again back to the series (especially as I have the series as an audio book). They are just wonderful, both humans and ghosts. I like how Rosemary keeps having to come up with different ways to explains her odd behaviour,, it leads to some humours situations. I can't wait for the audio book or to start the next book in the series. When a man's body is found frozen to death under the bridge nobody is surprised, until another body is discovered. How many people need to die before the killer becomes a serial killer? Rosemary hopes to never find out. She is in the unique position of being able to talk to the town's ghosts and she thinks by using them she might just be able to protect the town's men from another poisoning and her own business. The food weather isn't the only thing keeping very body indoors. Rosemary just needs to work out how the killer picks his victims. Because her mother's new boyfriend, the police chief has very similar traits to both victims. Is he on the list? Can Rosemary and her ghostly friends find and stop the killer in time?
"Chai, Chai Again (Pebble Cove Teahouse #4)" by Eryn Scott continues a few more months out than the previous books gave between them. It's almost 6 months, or more (seemingly), from book 3. Which is great, if they get too close together in time line I feel a bit sorry and worried about the people of that town. This one is set in winter and we get to read some nice winter scenes.
As far as the mystery goes, this one just didn't wrap up anywhere near where I thought it would. I was completely wrong about who the murderer was. I can see where the motive came from but the person with the motive felt like a I-want-to-keep-who-I-built-up-so-I'll-toss-away-this-other-new-character.
The Asher story line got a plot twist throwing out my theories. That's why the books are better, next is a tv series before movies. Books and tv series writers can throw a plot twist at you and have it actually be a plot twist. Also, so glad the potential friendmance triangle fizzled quickly to everyone being friends.
Gotta love all the raccoons, duck, and ghost cat. Those little goofy moments really add the lovability to a good cozy mystery.
We're back in Pebble Cove spending time with Rosemary and her ghostly friends. Its' been a little quiet around town (well, excluding the fan fiction writer's convention, I guess), so it's probably no surprise when a dead body pops up. Not literally. It's found. There is no popping.
Then a second body makes an appearance and Rosemary starts to get worried. Because the Chief, who happens to be seeing Rosemary's mom, fits the profile of the men who have met a bad end. For all the suspicious glances they had at the beginning, the Chief has grown on Rosemary and he makes her mom happy. So she doesn't want to see him meet a bad end.
Meanwhile, Rosemary is still trying to follow clues to unravel the mystery of Asher's death a century before. (Which is a little difficult because, well, 100 years have passed.)
A little scare with the chief, some ghostly goings-on, a wicked winter storm, a little bookish discussion, and Rosemary and Asher right in the middle of it all.
Chai, Chai Again (A Pebble Cove Teahouse Mystery Book 4)
I look forward to the release of each new book in this entertaining series. As expected, this story was another great read! I love how Rosemary/Rosie has become an outgoing and happy person after all the tragedy in her life. She has settled into Pebble Cove and been accepted in the close-knit community as one of their own. She has blossomed into a caring and loyal friend to many. Although she does have one fault that drives the police chief to distraction, her curiosity that she cannot or possibly will not curb. There is one ongoing mystery that she cannot solve but continues to get closer to solving with each story… Asher’s murder.
This book is a well-written and edited clean mystery. Eryn Scott is a gifted storyteller. I am anxious for the next book to be released in 2021.
this is the 4th book in the series and it is great! I am enjoying the developing relationships and friendships. I was unable to figure out the murder mystery again until the culprit was revealed in the book.
Amazon synopsis: The people of Pebble Cove are thrown into a forced hibernation when the worst snowstorm in a decade hits the Oregon Coast.
Ooow I enjoyed this cozey paranormal mystery with the point of murder. Eryn Scott tells a intriguing and frightening tale of murder and mystery while bringing vibrant and colorful characters to life and spirit. As this is the fourth mystery in this series I can tell you that Mary and her Spirited friends are also becoming closer in solving mysterys of the past residents of Pebble Cove ,making it easier for those to pass on to their next journey in the spirit world. This author writes each mystery so well that you most definitely want to fallow along into the world of Pebble Cove and it's Tea House mysterys. Acquire " Chai, Chai Again " so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. 😀 Kat
This is a great city series. I love hearing about the tea but Asher and Rosemary's make a great team. I love how with each book she meets new ghosts and how they have come to her for different reasons, they are a whole separate community in the town. There isn't really anything specific that I can pick out about the book but it is enjoyable and easy to read, the characters are great, the story is well written, and each book is just basically a good book. I always enjoy the sense of being invested in and learning more with each book and its the same with this one.
With this fourth installment in the series, I feel the author has veered off into the silly and annoying trends seemingly so popular in cozy mysteries these days. The theory developed by the main characters early on so was obviously wrong that it made the bulk of the book more frustrating than enjoyable. Also, the rising prominence of a previously minor character, while obviously intended to create more tension in the main character’s life and relationships, is simply another irritant.
Not sure I will read any more books in this series.
The ghosts get more organized to help Rosemary with the latest murder mystery. New characters provide more clues into Asher's past. Rosemary learns more about her mom and the chief and their growing romance and Rosemary has to come up with a quick cover about why she's on the phone all the time. This will definitely backfire with mom planning to be around more. I'm really enjoying learning more about Asher's past. Great current mystery too. Plenty of suspects or potential victims. Already started the next book.
Rosemarie is surprised when her mother wants to put some boxes in her cellar but then finds her mother snooping around her house. Only to have her mother drop in to stay for a week. This throws Rosie’s “normal” life in a kilter. That along with two murders of men that look like the police chief. Any more and I will spoil the plot. Beware of all the twists and turns and enjoy the nail biting and ahhhhh moments as well.
The mystery of Asher’s death continues. It’s obvious not going to be an easy one to solve. Rosemary’s mom becomes a bigger factor in this book. We get to see a new factor to their relationship. I like the new complex feeling Rosemary is feeling about her and Asher’s relationship. Still think she needs a love interest maybe they both do. Will continue the series hasn’t let me down. I really like it.
I know whenever I start a Pebble Cove Teahouse mystery I will be finished in one sitting and this time was no different. With each new book in the series, Rosemary cements her roots in Pebble Cove and each acquaintance slowly becomes a friendship. I look forward once again to the next book in the series.
An excellent mystery with friends old and new. The mystery kept me guessing and turning the pages. I enjoy that the underlying story of Rosemary and Asher flows through all the books in the series and that it remains clean with no swearing or sex. I’m looking forward to more.
