Og-Grim-Dog is back in his tavern and many a client has turned out for story night and this time he has people even coming from further afield as his storytelling is catching on and the recorder is there right at the front waiting for what our ogre calls a dark tale. He recounts how they had felt when banished from Mer Khazer and ending up in the swamp and feeling as though there was nowhere that would accept a three headed ogre until they were invited to become the Dark Lord’s henchman. They met Lilith his assistant and were given a tour of the Fell Towers and sent on their first assignment to prove their ability and loyalty, and immediately both Og and Grim were not feeling good about the evil demanded they carry out but Dog was won over once offered a free room with full board, having fallen in love with the refectory and it’s excellent eat as much as you like food. But when sent on a more demanding assignment whereby they were to kidnap the Princess of the Kuthenian Empire so that the dark lord could wed her and thus be in line for the Jade throne they were even more unhappy. Turns out that many who were supposedly working for the dark lord were out to betray him and our ogre debated whether to expose what was happening or just bide their time. In the end it turned out that it was as much of a revolution against the Empire as it was against the Director of Dungeoneering whereby the constitution was amended to recognize dwarves, elves and halflings as racial groups, with the same rights as humans at least in Mer Khazer. Og-Grim-Dog had tried both the life of a hero and now that of a villain and it was agreed upon that neither was found suitable for them so what’s next for Og-Grim-Dog I wonder? I just love the way our hero’s three heads come with their own characters, and the way they discuss among themselves any issue before taking a decision which will impact them all. I am eagerly anticipating book 3 as these fun stories full of adventure with our ogre hero and his friends are becoming totally addictive.

After being the honourable good guys in the first book, Og-Grim-Dog the three-headed ogre find themselves outcast to a dead-end swamp, leading a dead-end life.
When an unexpected job opportunity comes their way via an old friend, they pack up and decide to give the dark side a go.
So they trek to the Dark Lord’s castle, the aptly named Fell Towers, and apply to become a henchman. Grim is a little hesitant, and Og isn’t entirely convinced, but Dog wants to stay. There’s a free buffet in the refectory where you can stuff your face all day, every day, if you want to.
First, however, they mustprove their worth to the Dark Lord by carrying out an evil deed.
The deed is truly despicable and again, both Grim and Og aren’t too happy about it, but Dog convinces them that having a home and an endless supply of food will be worth it.
When the deed is done, they return to Fell Towers and find themselves in the role of henchman. They’re soon tasked with capturing a foreign princess and sent on a mission.
The old crew from the first book join them on the mission and they uncover a plot to overthrow the Darklord and install something even darker in his place.
As the stakes are raised, Og-Grim-Dog must decide: are they really cut out for the dark side, or can they redeem themselves?
I didn’t quite enjoy this one as much as the first one with all its nods at the fantasy canon, but it was still a fun, laugh out loud read. There’s a few faint waves at Peter’s Evil Overlord list, and I’ll admit that list is still something I find amusing more than 20 years after first seeing it. I think if I was to ever write a humourous fantasy, I’d base it around that list.
Still, Og-Grim-Dog kept me entertained again and the pages turning. The writing is tight, the pace is cracking and there’s always something happening to keep drawing you through the book.
I’m definitely looking forward to reading the third installment.

Just finished this second installment. And again a well polished, fun, satirical story! This one had me laughing out loud in a few spots, and I rarely laugh out loud at books- especially fantasy books. There were also a couple of really well done fight scenes- which is something that I love in fantasy. Edmundson does a fantastic job of pulling you into the complexity (both physical and mental) of the three headed ogre and provides more insight into how Og/Grim/Dog each have a different way of thinking and each control a different aspect of the body they share. It shows how, to me anyway, people can learn to operate together. Fun, fantastic read. Never bogs down and I highly recommend it.

If you've read the first book in the series, you will know more or less what to expect here. Albeit, things get darker as Og-Grim-Dog finds himself working for the Dark Lord! It is definitely more morally grey than the first book, but all done in such a tongue-in-cheek way we could never hate the mc for his vicious deeds. It had some genuine laugh out loud moments for me, maybe even more so than book 1, and again there are several parodies that the reader might notice. Scratches a funny bone and definitely makes me want to return to the Flayed Testicles for more!

A world collapsed inside me, Shrek ate Donkey. This is a strong sequel after the first book. Yet it’s not so much a parody because there was a conspiracy in this book. I can already see that this series has gotten a great story, even if it’s cliché. And of course Dog's sarcasm wasn't left out either. It was also good to see the old characters again, with whom the ogre brothers had befriended in the first book. Good advice, don't eat poisoned muffins! Ha-ha!

Excellent. Volume #2 is maybe even better with its comedic fantasy than the enjoyable first volume.
In this story Og-Grim-Dog, the three-headed ogre, finds himself rejected by humans despite his previous heroism and decides to try out a bit of evil doing by joining the local Dark Lord in this fantasy world. OK, he’s not a Sauron but he’s a vain arsehole which is as good a basis for evil doing as any. And he knows the tune that a Dark Lord should dance to. Og-Grim-Dog does his best to be Bad for him, and a loyal henchman, but not always enjoying it as he’d hoped.
Quite a good story idea for the lead character to be working with the forces of evil (a fantasy-lite version anyway). For a start, they have the better music (heavy rock against, surely, varieties of folk music favoured by the Good; and they aren't picky eaters - I’m not saying the Forces of Good are all vegetarian but surely no vegetarians are allied with a Dark Lord?! Incidentally, these are my personal thoughts, not derived from this story, which is free of music and vegetarianism).
Once again, a fun read, witty, good pace, not too long for the story concept. And there’s a wizard called Sandon Branderson…

Og-Grim-Dog has tried two different roles, he's been a hero, and was banned from that life. What's an ogre to do? Why, he applies for the job of henchman to the Dark Lord. Is Og-Grim- Dog cut out for the life of a villain? Og-Grim-Dog gets a job as a henchman for the Dark Lord, and other than an unlimited supply of food, he will quickly realize that there is something amiss. Og-Grim-Dog, and his friends, will uncover a plot much bigger than one evil, and somewhat crazy man with delusions of grandeur, can be responsible for implementing, or planning for that matter.
Fascinating, and hysterically funny characters. Unexpected twists in the plot with a little mystery, and maybe the beginnings of a monopoly(?). Fantastic, and funny read I hated to put this book down. I loved this book, and I look forward to more in this series.

Meanwhile...back at the Tavern. Time for a dark tale. When an ogre isn't allowed to be a hero, what does an ogre do? Goes to work for the Dark Lord of course!
They just find out things aren't.quite.right with this Lord, even if Dog's in it because of the food. Many who work for the Dark Lord are just out to get him. When they are asked to kidnap the Princess of the Jade Throne, so evil will take that over, they find out being the bad guy isn't all that's cracked up to be.
So, what are they going to do next? This ought to be fun! Jamie Edmundson has a really amazing mind, a flare for a good story, and the ability to make you laugh so hard you might forget it's a story. I have been so captivated by Og,Grim and Dog and how they are three in one,and just what that might bring to the next tale. Highly recommended 5/5

Time for a story at the Flayed Testicles - a bar for young and old!
Stuck in a swamp the once good guy(s) of Og-Grim-Dog are living a dead-end-life in a swamp until they decide to turn to villainy. Joining up with the Dark Lord as henchmen the 3-in-1 ogres find themselves tasked with doing evil and as many squares a day as they'd like at the endless buffet.
Something isn't right in the evil castle, and after many twists and turns the 3 make other decisions.
The pace is quick, the humor is ever-present, and Author Edmondson has done it again in this continuation of the series. It is the second book in the series and while it can be funny alone, it is even better having read the first one as characters are referenced often.

Another cracking night at the Flayed Testicles, Og-Grim-Dog continue their tale from past capades, The Recorder with no worries or the patrons of being eaten if he he fails to make an impression this time, with Og-Grim-Dog out of work, They take up the opportunity to become a Henchman of the Dark Lord, to become a Henchman they must preform an evil deed, absolutley hilarious, Jamie Edmundson brings you an amazing array of characters and the humour through out will have you in stitches, Chuck Wagnor gives an amazing preformence, with his gravily and arrange of voices, brings Og-Grim-Dog to the next level, Fun, dark, witty, and just an out an out awesome series, highly recommend.....😁

Following on the heels of book one it is an easy thing to jump into book 2. The vibe is the same, familiar characters pop up, and a new cast of villains emerges in a short pacy read to the dark side.
I think I preferred the story of book one, but the pace and story in book 2 was tighter, the ending less abrupt and that worked well for the format. In terms of evilness, it was a tad too silly, but I saw the point in transitioning to the key players in the overly franchised scenario. Admirable restraint in not going psycho evil.
Need something quick and fun - it is hard to pass up, and I'm looking forward to the next book this weekend.

A great continuation from book one. We’re back at the tavern where Og-Grim-Dog continue their story of an another adventure. This one finding work for a Dark Lord as henchmen. Again a fun quick read with action and humor. Kept me interested throughout wondering what was going to happen next.

The second book in this series was ok, not really my thing but I read it anyway! There’s a big parody feel to the story where Og-Grim-Dog goes to work for the Dark Lord. We meet some intriguing new characters and the characters from the first book are introduced into the story in bits. I don’t want to say too much and give away the plot but Og-Grim-Dog takes part in a plot to kidnap the princess but then is persuaded to do the right thing and turn against the Dark Lord with the resistance instead. There’s also a twist to the story towards the end which may lead into the next book

Another great story. Og-Grim-Dog is the kind of character that just makes you laugh. The 3 are so different in thinking. They were sent to the swamp to live when an offer came along that they thought would work. Working as a henchmen for the dark lord was a lot. I enjoyed this adventure of Og-Grim-Dog. The author just draws you into the story. Loved it!

I've got the omnibus with the four books in the series. And let's be clear, it's a series, one book it's not enough. You'll want all of them, and more if possible (when "the nefarious exploits of Wro'Kuburni'-Dy-Hrath'Simbowa: dark elf, henchman and arch-villain"? and the prequel?)
Anyway, I'm not going to say it's hilarious (maybe because I'm a bit old and rusty in the laughing business, plus Spanish so probably miss several jokes) but it's very funny and I laughed.
If you like classic fantasy adventures like dungeons & dragons, you'll love it. And you'll find a lot of references to so many stories, series and films.
Very original, well explained and without neverending battles. It has sweet and sour moments, all of them worthy. A bit short of magic at the beginning, but it has enough at the end.

And so, I have spent another night (or more...) at the Flayed Testicles, listening to the Landlord as they relay a new story of their past, and I wholeheartedly enjoyed every minute of it!
From the moment a donkey saw its end, this story had me hooked and glued to the pages!
Gone from hero to villain, Og-Grim-Dog tries his luck working as a henchman under the Dark Lord, but things are not quite what they seem, and Og-Grim-Dog finds themselves perhaps a bit deeper into trouble than they first expected.
Just like the first book of the Me Three series, Og-Grim-Dog and The Dark Lord is quick-witted, fast-paced, and utterly entertaining! The writing is clean, the descriptions and events suit the story perfectly, and the characters (Og-Grim-Dog especially) are fantastic!
I will definitely continue reading this series!

This was as much fun as the first novella. It continued the story but was a good story that stood on its own, so it didn't feel like this series is a novel split up into chunks. It created a slightly richer world for the characters to operate in, too, and did a good job of setting up the next story without feeling incomplete itself or using an annoying cliffhanger.

Second in fantasy series.
Story of a three headed ettin joining an evil army. Reaper Miniature once produced a three headed ettin based off the Three Stooges comedy team. I recommend reading the first in the series.
