I understand that this was a novella so the story was quick, but I wish there was more leading up to the first possession. It kinda just hit out of nowhere in the middle of a conversation when there hadn’t been any talk about spirits, entities, etc.
After that though, it’s an all around good book! Had me sucked in and a great short story to break up longer books/genres.
Definitely going to look into reading some of her other books!

I liked this novella. A very short story with Goosebumps vibes to it. Wasn’t really that scary, but it was entertaining.

Author Niki Livingston brings us a tale about a group of friends who ghost hunt at a place called the Stanley Hotel. Leading the charge is Carissa, Issa to her friends and before they get to the haunted hotel Issa sees a woman in red following her but at that point she doesn't know that the woman is a ghost. On their first night at the hotel they are shown everything but what they never expected to run into was a portal to the other side. There one of Issa's friends becomes trapped while someone or something takes is place. But they don't realize this until both their friend and Carissa's friend Ashley goes missing. They then make plans to return to the haunted hotel. I won't spoil the ending but this is a great novella and one that fans of fright will enjoy. I highly recommend it.

This was a really good book. The story is very well written and creepy. The kind of story that keeps you up at night but you can’t put down. I would definitely recommend reading, you won’t be disappointed.

"The Wrong Side of the Mirror" ~ Niki Livingston
⭐️⭐️⭐️✨️

"For fans of Stanley Hotel"

Niki Livingston's "Wrong Side of the Mirror" offers readers a chilling foray into the supernatural, blending elements of horror and suspense within a concise narrative. The story centers on Carissa, who embarks on a Halloween adventure with her best friend, Ashley, involving a stay at a haunted hotel and participation in a nighttime ghost tour. What begins as a lighthearted escapade quickly escalates when Carissa encounters the apparition of a dark-haired woman, challenging her skepticism about the paranormal. In an attempt to dispel the entity, Ashley initiates a reckless plan that inadvertently opens a portal to their worst nightmares.

Livingston effectively crafts an eerie atmosphere, immersing readers in a setting where the line between reality and the supernatural blurs. The novella's brevity contributes to a fast-paced plot, maintaining tension throughout its 108 pages. However, this conciseness also limits character development and the exploration of underlying themes, leaving certain aspects underdeveloped.

While the narrative delivers on suspense and maintains engagement, a more in-depth exploration of character dynamics and the lore surrounding the haunting could have enriched the story. "Wrong Side of the Mirror" is a quick, engaging read for fans of supernatural fiction seeking a succinct yet thrilling experience.
