So this book was timely for me. I am entering into a new season where I know the Lord will use me to promote His Kingdom and I could get very prideful b/c I am being used. Yet this book was right on time. Humility is the path for more grace and more favor in my life. The Lord must increase as I decrease.
As a supporter of the ministry, AWM sent me a copy of this book. It was timely as my church has done a series on pride recently, but I found what Andrew wrote about the flip side of pride --fearing to step out and believe what God says about us -- to be far more relevant to me personally and less commonly discussed.
I really like Andrew's stuff. He's not always super organized, but he's got solid, Biblical teaching. This book in particular is a great catalyst in the direction of the freedom found in choosing humility (at least, I've experienced a lot more freedom, I don't know about you!). It's not a cure all. We must turn to God and the Word of God for that, and it's an ongoing, lifelong process, I feel like. But this book is a great kickstart in that lifelong direction, for sure. Highly recommended, it won't take super long to read, though if you take your time to read it and work through it, that would definitely be a good idea! Maybe while reading something else. Great book. :)
A simple message from this book. A truly humble person is able to focus more on the Kingdom of God rather than their own life.
It is impossible to live with a temper while being humble. Humility diffuses anger. Arrogance is pride. Low self esteem and insecurity are pride. Pride is looking at things with a self centered perspective.
“No one thanks their boss for their paycheck. They think they earned it.” Thankfulness and praise put God in the right place as the source of our lives (Colossians 2:7, Hebrews 13:15).
God gives grace to the humble. Humility is agreeing with God about what He said about you. Pride is a focus on self, the opposite of humility. This can present as arrogance, but also as low self esteem. This is the essence of the book and a message that is often missing in the church, not to mention the world, today.
I found this book interesting and very thought provoking. His words on pride and how we sometimes don’t do things is also prideful made me stop and process what I personally do. I’m always watchful to not put myself “out there”, but I can also be self centered and prideful when I don’t. Great book - God’s Word is always the Word to follow.
Like all other books from Andrew Wommack, this book is life-changing. It came at a critical time in my life. I needed some spiritual adjusting. The Biblical principles outlined has brought correction in my humility and attitude. Blessings!
I really enjoyed this book. It really hit what I was needing to learn. Pride goes before the fall but I had not understood exactly what pride might be until I ready this.
