It seems like six-foot-nine enforcer Wellington Dunn’s hockey career with the Halifax Halibuts is about to come to an end and that he can now devote his time to finishing his Master’s degree in Russian literature. That is, until the Ottawa Senators sign centreman Vasily Pisov, whose father is head of Russian intelligence. Overnight, Dunn finds himself recruited by the Canadian Security Intelligence Service to play in the NHL and spy on Pisov. What ensues is a zany romp through the worlds of hockey and espionage. Warning: This book contains sex and humour.
If you picked up this book looking for a quick read, put it down. If you want a good read, then pick it back up. This novel has so much going on you will need to take your time. The characters are well developed and the mystery and intrigue make it well worth reading. The descriptives and analogies are creative. The author has included some tongue in cheek humour that had me laughing out loud.
A stupidly fun, enthralling, and well written thriller. It doesn't take itself too seriously making it easy to enjoy, but the depth of story makes it hard to put down.
