Have you ever woken from a nightmare? Well, I sure have…
It all starts when I first gaze into those beastly eyes. My vision trails, pausing at his chiseled abdomen and massive biceps, his masculine body towering like a statue. A rough growl leaves his ferocious mouth, and my body freezes. I’ve never seen an alien like him before… He lunges, and I don’t even think to put up a struggle. I don’t dare move. Exposed, vulnerable, and afraid, I surrender to his every whim. I fall for him. Harder than a shooting star. But as terrifying as he is, he shows me he has a heart. He’s not afraid to love me 'til the bitter end.
Kalxor and Ava took me on an entirely unexpected journey... And I think that was a good thing.
Honestly, I almost have up several times during the first half of this book. There are several reasons, but the main one, I think, was my struggle to understand throwing someone into the equivalent of a holodeck (without my knowing they existed in this world) and wanting this 'boxer's to figure out from the inside what the holodeck needed, or how it needed to be fixed/improved.
I also struggles with the use of the word Cyborg in this story... I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll just say it does turn out to be the best word to use and still hold back some really interesting/pivotal revelations, which come in as the story moved from confusing, and truly out of this world to 'WOW, I never thought about reality, and what's real in these ways before.'
I had previously read Alien Mate, and while they are in the same Universe, and both involve Earth Federation, this is definitely a solid done in one stand alone.
This story treads on some interesting moral and ethical ground... ground I think to some degree we as a society are approaching a need to discuss. It explores this concept of huge amounts of data exist, and can be captured... but do we really have any idea how it can/will be used, or by whom?
This is not light, fluffy reading. I'm glad I was reading this on a weekend afternoon, as opposed to late at night, and could truly pay attention to everything that was going on.
I was gifted with a copy of this book, switched to the Kindle Unlimited version when it was released, and chose to leave a review.
I should have taken the other one star reviews more seriously. I read them and thought "dark, rough sex" I can get down with that. Maybe it's one of those mind-f*** reads that you have to read the whole thing to appreciate it.
I underestimated the f**kery. It was so over the place that I got a headache from it. I physically cannot go past 33%. It's not understandable. The characters make no sense, there is zero world building. No. This is not something I would recommend. Okay, so he mentions the scar on her back. He says he wants to take care of her. He also says she is the mate he's been looking for and immediately says he wants to rip her to shreds like he does the other people, but he holds himself back. She is just as wishy washy. Can anyone tell me how her pants are ripped down the middle, and then ripped off, but it's only mentioned in the scene it happens? She sits in a dungeon blah with cell bars, with her butt hanging out, and all she wants to do is talk about escaping?
Maybe it gets better? Maybe the ending is worth it? But I'm not trudging through a migraine to find out.
This story was a bit confusing it kept jumping in and out of real or not real. Kalxor and Ava story is a strange one, she is a coder and is invited to Aroni Industries by her cousin Elon who needs her help and what she sees is a big blue alien cyborg in a simulation that she finds very attractive and when Kalxor sees her he wants her bad and will do anything to find her. When Elon puts her in the simulation to find problems in the code for him but never did she believe that she would be saved by the hot alien from beforehand. The twists and turns and enemies coming at them from all side can they find the real world or are they in it already.

When I first started reading this book I didn’t know which way was up. To be honest it was not what I was expecting when I read the title alien beast. The book got better the more I read, but not less complicated. It had very good descriptions of the characters and the landscape. But the real dilemma, was what is real and what isn’t? And it is being real everything it’s cracked up to be? It seems the more real you are the more heartless you are. Finding out Ava’s secret added another dimension to the story. The biggest difference in the characters was Kalxor. He seemed more real and became more aware and full of emotions as the book continues. The book is full of unexpected good guys, and absolutely evil bad guys that you love to hate. The ending was good, and it fit the story.
I absolutely enjoyed reading this very intriguing, futuristic Sci-Fi alien romance. The plot is adventurous & has abundance of details with good scene descriptions & world building. The characters are complex individuals with unique personalities & portray realistic emotional feelings while struggling to overcome adversity. There is: twists & turns, action, adventure, intrigue, suspense, evil, devious plans, bravery, danger, threats, violence, conflict, steamy scenes, contentment & a well-deserved satisfying conclusion. I definitely would recommend this futuristic Sci-Fi romance to people who enjoy reading this genre.
Wow, this was different. Mix some artificial intelligence, aliens, humans, computer simulations, a corrupt earth federation and lots of suspense, action, deceit and betrayals with a side of love and you get the just of the book. This book intrigued me and makes the reader ponder the moral lines as far a AI and computer simulations. Shocking revelations make you wonder what is real and what is not. This is not one of those romance books that you can read quickly, this book demands and keeps your attention. Truly a must read.

Twists upon twists, and finally getting to the truth of all that matters. In this absolutely dark and beautiful story a tale of two who ultimately fall deeply in love with each other one human? And one Alien? Or are they. One dreams of things before and a family he once knew a nd the other is in deep depression after her father died. But nothing these compares when they both find out the truth.......
Penelope woods has out done herself yet again in this wonderful tale. It was thoughly enjoyable to read. 5 stars
This book will have your mind jumping around. Never really knowing what is real and wondering what will happen next. Can they find love in this reality they have come to find? This is a well written and very entertaining story that will keep you on your toes while you read it. Interesting characters that will draw you into the story and make lose track of time. This author knows how to captivate her readers.

I really wanted to like this book. But what stopped me from liking it is the abuse the heroin suffered and the mind f*** she accepted. Her “father” was abusive and she loved him because he was her father which is fine but then she accepted that the abuse was because he loved her basically. I was already on edge with this book. But that? That set it in stone. I don’t recommend this book at all. It was boring but had one element that made me finish it, I wanted the Heroin and hero to have a happy ending but the happy ending they got was just ok not including the mind f***ing
Her books are hit and miss with me sometimes and this one was a big MISS. What the actual heck she was trying to say i have no idea the whole story made absolutely no sense to me. The dirty talk between her and Kalaxor was eye rolling bad like she purposefully tried so see how ridiculous she could get before someone would notice. Well I noticed it was bad no one really talks like that if they do its probably in a porn. Im sorry i just couldn't recommend this one.
Alien Beast is book five in the series Alien Mates by author Penelope Woods. Ok so this is not what it seems. With all the conspiracy theories out there this book- story fit in perfectly. As I read this book I was like no way- NFW. But here it is and it’s a little crazy, a little unsettling and absolutely deliciously terrifying. Just imagine if …. Anywho, it’s a really good read, not something intend to navigate towards. Yet in the end I’m really glad I did. Enjoy!!
It is fast paced with some twerks within the story. I enjoyed this story and it provided me an escape for a bit. It is dark. I thought it would be darker but it has the right amount to make the story good. The characters and world building was really good and visually it is one you soon will not forget. Miss Woods writes a story that will linger with you. I will read more from this author in this genre.

The story line was alright but I was really confused throughout this story because the alternate reality. Also the transition from scene to scene is very unclear. Also it was hard to understand what was happening most of the time with things popping up like virtual reality. Had a hard time finishing it, but was determined.. not one of my favorites from this author.
How much has life changed when you find yourself in a realistic hologram fighting for your life and finding love? The change is gradual and unique to the hologram until you find your way out. Or does it change? Does a simulation become reality or does reality become a simulation? Does one find love and does it continue in reality? The only way to find out is if you read this recommended book.
Was not able to get into this story! I read other books by this author and I found so far 3 different books that I just couldn't get into. Perhaps the author needs a new way of writing or take some pointers from other authors. When I read a book I want to be enthralled from start to finish and I want that story to take me to a different place! This does not!!! And neither does this author! Sadly, I do not recommend this author and her many books she has to anyone!
This writer knows the value of a great story line. Not the same story with different names and a slight scenery change. I had no idea what the next page would reveal and I read it in one sorting because I could not put it down. The story doesnt serve as a vehicle for the sex it flows as a natural part of the story. Well done, I'm a new fan.
Wow! There were so many twists and turns in this story; I didn’t know how it would end! What was real life, simulation, alien, cyborg, human-this story had it all, and the chemistry between Ava and Kalxor was off the charts hot!

Wow, this book is action packed adventure. This story is a new twist on alien romance. It's hard to tell what's real and what's not, you'll change your mind every chapter. Penelope writes a top notch action romance that will suck you in program, code and alien. I would recommend this book.
A sci-fi romance with a huge twist. There are two major characters. Ava is a computer coder. She has a brilliant mind but finds it hard to connect with others. Kalxor is an alien and a beast. A definite alpha that wants to fight and find his mate. Their story is very unique and had several surprises. Things do get very hot throughout the book.
I love sexy alien beast stories and Penelope Woods has written one exciting, action packed adventure with a sexy growly alien who looks terrifying but has a heart of gold for the right woman. Sorry guys no spoilers so read the blurb and that will give you the gist to this story, fantastic story and I highly recommend this book.
When I read the description of this book I really thought that it sounded like a great read. I will say that I was disappointed. This book was not anything that I thought it would be. I was not expecting to have Cyborgs in these book. I am not a huge fan of cyborg books so to say the least I was not really thrilled with this book. If you like reading cyborgs books then you probably enjoy this one. I rated this book a three star because at times I found the book confusing and couldn't really follow what had happened.
I did not like this book at all . I never really understood the technical portions, we're they in a simulation or not, was Ava ever in the real world, did then end up in another simulation I my this one controlled by her father. How did hurting and abusing Ava come out to her father actually loving her? Those are just some of the questions I have and it sucks.
Stopped at 37%. Could not finish. First, the backstory was too convoluted and confusing to be entertaining and second, I don’t find BDSM in this context enticing at all. This isn’t Alien romance but Alien erotica. Wish Amazon, indie publishers, and mainstream publishers would understand the difference and categorize books accordingly.
I don't know what I just read and to be honest, I've got to 45% of this and it certainly wasn't worth it. If this is supposed to be a romance is a pretty dark and twisty one that doesn't make sense.

Dark steamy sci-fi read. Ava gets a new job from her cousin Elon where she is shown a virtual world and meets Kalxor, an alien beast. Sparks fly between them but is he real or virtual? Fast-paced read with loads of twists and turns, mystery and drama. An entertaining read.
A well written story with twists and turns, Ava and Kalxor's story made you want to know what was going to happen next. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was an interesting read I thought. She spots him straight away then appears in a totally different place. It was like not living in the same reality. Strange but gripping. I felt the characters were fab and I loved the storyline. Totally different to other books
Usually books about science fiction romance are like every other book written in this genre. Not this one. I was intrigued from the first paragraph. I highly recommend this book.
The premise of this story was nothing like what I usually read. Although it's a good book that held my attention, I was challenged to relate to the heroine. Almost every bit og this story surprised me.
