In a world where Christians don't know whether they're dating, courting, hanging out, living together, or just having sex, Jason Illian exposes the naked truth about relationships.
This book challenged some of the most popular "rules" in the Christian dating world. For example, the popular idea of early stage Christian dating is to go out in a "group date". Illian challenges this notion by arguing that this pattern weakens men's role to be the leader and initiator in a relationship. So in the positive side, the book promotes a more balanced view of a godly relationship instead of a rigid and legalistic one.
On the down side, I considered some of his opinions to be too liberal, especially in the area of physical boundary.
Overall, the book is very enjoyable and fun to read. It also provides some great insights to the mind of men and women and how they affect relationships. But I can't agree with some of the author's liberal point of view, so I'm giving it a 3-star.
I went to elementary school and junior high with Jason, so I figured I'd read his book! I thought this might be a post-Bachelor PR stint, but he's actually got a lot of great things to say about dating in the Christian world. In fact, I have to admit it's one of the better books addressing relationships for those who are following Christ. As an added bonus, he writes with the sharp humor I remember him having in grade school.
This instilled in me realism in honoring our Lord with our bodies, the sanctity between two people, that love and passion are linear to our Father and future spouse!
Would recommend this book to any single person thinking about dating? It has a very out of the box approach yet easy to understand and can be applied to one's life!
