An undercover quest. A noble disguise. One chance to kill a god.
Surrounded by enemies and suffering from heavy casualties, Clay and his motley crew are in their toughest spot yet. Making things worse, their greatest enemy is about to be crowned emperor of Arethkar, granting him unbridled power and abilities.
With a new quest and class unlocked, Clay and his pals have ten days to sneak into the foreign capital, establish disguises, and assassinate the emperor-to-be. Sounds easy, except for the extra tight security, corrupt nobles, and monsters roaming the sewers beneath.
Can they pull off their most dangerous mission yet?
Dream Druid is the sixth instalment in the best-selling LitRPG series, Arcane Kingdom Online. If you love RPG mechanics, destructive glitches, epic loot, and leveling-up then you’ll love this fast-paced fantasy adventure.
Jakob Tanner is the author of three LitRPG series: Arcane Kingdom Online, Tower Climber, and Second Chance Swordsman. His books were inspired by the Final Fantasy video game series, Dungeons and Dragons, and all the MMORPGs that have taken over his life at one point or another.
He likes playing board games, binging anime, and eating yummy food. To keep up to date with his shenanigans (as well as the status of his next book) consider signing up to his mailing list here: https://www.jakobtanner.com/dungeondi...
Beyond that, Jakob can be found at all the usual places:
Clay and his entourage have ventured into the heart of the Arethkarian continent in order to free all enslaved players. They capture the Iron Citadel in the Storm Mountains at a great cost but now they are landlocked and surrounded by enemies. Our heroes face their biggest challenge yet! Betina, the guardian of dreams also lands a real bombshell on Clay which he was really not prepared for. She is all set to kill him as is Clay who is very upset at losing his brother, so together they plot how Clay can become strong enough to take him out, however Takeshimi owned a prophetic seal, had guardian powers as well as chronomancer powers so Clay had to really upgrade before he could face him. He works on his dream druid class tirelessly, as Betina told him that only through these powers would he be able to defeat her father. I was very pissed off at Clay throughout the book as he seemed to be thinking more with his fists than his brain and jeopardised all their well thought out plans many a time, nearly causing our group of heroes everything. However one’s rash actions sometimes might still have positive reactions! And Clay did have a lot to be angry at Takeshimi about. This book is yet another story which is jam packed with action, great battle scenes fought through magic and weaponry and a fantastic cast of characters who bring fun to the action. I particularly love Shade and his witticisms and Chip who is so lovable. I wait in anticipation for the next book!
Wow! This was an excellent penultimate book! So much happened, so much was revealed, and the series end will be a lot different that I had guessed.
I loved that, from the start, everything that we thought was hard fact is now thrown into doubt. I spent much of this book wondering if Konrad really was behind ZERO, if Clay was actually being manipulated for nefarious purposes, if there was actually some hidden agenda that we would discover. We certainly don't have all of the answers, but after this book, there are a lot of things about AKO that are much clearer than ever before.
One of the biggest take-aways that I got from this book was how lucky Clay is to have the circle of friends that he has. Clay is a great idealist, and he needs his friends to help bring those ideals to reality - and to bring him back to reality when he goes too far. While not explicitly pointed out, Clay was on the road to be just as terrible a tyrant as Konrad had the potential of being, and would have gotten there if it wasn't for Serena, Shade, Jackson & others to help him remember that there is a difference between justice and vengeance.
What will the Chosen find of their world when and if they return to Earth? I can't wait to see how this all concludes!
ONE WICKEDLY EXPLOSIVE JOURNEY!!! Thrilling! Jakob doesn't waste a second, jumping in and kicking ass, rushing through the badlands full throttle, raising the stakes and keeping it real, blasting this little guy to life spectacularly. Securing the ups and downs, weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web. Eliminating the lines and crushing boundaries, limitations are stretched and manipulated, blazing a path, booting it into overdrive, slamming this baby into a frenzy with astonishing results. Satisfaction rocks this jewel, bringing it home with such intensity and precision, displaying triumph and imparting one block busting dynamo, fusing this baby together sleek shiny and tight. Shenanigans, escapades and havoc run amuck, rousting the drama, intrigue, turmoil, deception, danger, mounting suspense and intense situations along with a boatload of chaos while dodging disaster, you have one heart stopping adventure. The characters are authentic and realistic with depth and qualities that add diversity, transforming into amazing personalities. The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and depictions creating an elaborate backdrop that's so vividly descriptive it's like your transported to ground zero with them. Remarkable job Jakob, thanks for sharing this awesome little gem with us.
Full disclosure I received in ARC version of this book. So this book was a fun read. Lots and lots of action. Non stop really. The story is much like a D&D module with main quest and minors plus some level grinding. I found the emotional content a bit flat in the middle of the book but the last quarter was more expressive and I felt it more. There were few new characters introduced and it remains to be seen how many of them stick around. That said not all the previous characters are on this quest so mostly the main 3 are followed. The MC is still OP and a new class increases that by a large factor. Lol it seems The MC gets a class per book. The ending is fun And of course there are some new twists but that was both needed and expected. I look forward to the next in the series.
Did not finish. Got about halfway in and I'm done with this series. I've had it with this main character. He annoys me to no end in how he has no self control, and yet, somehow his party are okay with him being the leader. Yes, I get it, slavery bad. The players are suffering. Yes, I get it, the bad man killed his brother. So he's understandably upset.
So that means he'll stick to the plan to destroy the bad man so they can undo all the damage he's done... right? No, of course not. He's going to risk everything, time and time again, when he sees injustice going on. And yet his party is still willing to listen to him.
I was given this book by the author in exchange for a fair review. I've read the entire series so far.
Higher level, more powers, a new specialization, and a stronger villain. The new powers are cool but a bit of an over play as they come as part of the unique class of dream druid. If you liked the previous books you'll like this one, the flow, pacing, and characters are pretty much the same. It seems Clay levels up faster and changes class more than any character I've ever played and thus is a bit of a downside.
Book 6 of Arcane Kingdom Online. This book sets us up for the conclusion of the novel. I am excited to see how this one concludes. Lots of sneaking around and fixing puzzles all under stressful timelines. Not to worry there is some good power leveling in here too. Beyond all of that we are now going to be dealing with the real world according to the title of the next book. This will be interesting as the roles would drastically change. Excited for this conclusion. Warning: adult themes and language.
Arcane Kingdom Online is a really cool game lit book series, and book six is a great addition to the series. The book moves at a fast pace with lots of action. This is book six, and you’ll enjoy them most if you read them in order.
These books contain a fair amount of game violence, but not much sexual content (no sex scenes so far). I’d recommend them for teens and adults.
I rated this 3.5 stars. I struggled with Clay more this book. He is acting like he is right and not being a team player. I know he had more tragedy this book. I don't love how his new class changed his behavior. Also, this book opened the door on the closed-door romance more than other books. Not much more afterglow discussion who had not proven trustworthy, but I enjoyed this story
I have read many other LitRPGs by many different authors and I have yet to find Jakob Tanner's equal. The entire AKO series is simply phenomenal. A must read for diehard LitRPG fans and new comers alike.
Again feeling like we jump straight into things and then there's some strange anger issues that just feel strange. Not sure how this wraps up in one more book
