I need to keep Alex safe, and I don’t have time for my alpha wolf’s hurt feelings. I get it, his pack got injured, but my brother’s still on the kill list. Everyone wants to control me- from Asshole to the headmaster- but they don’t understand I have one priority: my brother.
To appease the Council, the headmaster’s got spirit shifters on lockdown, and my torturer makes the one order I can’t carry out: kill the headmaster or your brother dies.
Destroy is the second book in this why choose, paranormal romance series. Expect a tough heroine, unusual shifters, vampires, bullies, a rejected mate, and love in this steamy new adult reverse harem academy romance.
Set in the same world as the original Thornbriar Academy series, but Misfit of Thornbriar Academy can be read as a standalone series.
This series is intended for readers who are 18+ and may contain situations which are triggering.
Cali Mann is the USA Today Bestselling author of the Thornbriar Academy series. She writes paranormal romance, the sexy kind with why choose, hunky shifters, sexy vampires, and women who stand up for themselves. She learned romance by reading through her mother's entire Gothic romance collection in her teens so she and romance go way back. When she's not writing, she spends her time streaming shows, playing video games, and pestering her two tuxedo cats. Find out more at calimann.com
Wonderful 2nd book. Sasha is finally learning that she can rely on others and take some of her burden but only after she continues to find herself in multiple situations that continue to make things worse. Sasha is a fierce, caring MC but and the men she picks need to understand that she is use to being self reliant and get use to that. The story line is great, lots of cross road dilemmas that create ripples in the pond....and finally open up a little more to show who more of who are the spirit shifters side and definitely who are not. Action packed, definitely a great 2nd book in the series. Cannot wait for book 3.
Sasha is at Thornbriar, trying to do whatever she can to keep her brother safe. She is forced to complete an unthinkable task to achieve this, but of course, nothing goes to plan.
Sasha discovers some new things about herself, and her relationships with her mates continue to change and grow, although she still needs add two more to the group. It will be interesting to see how that all unfolds.
I enjoyed this story, and the new developments, and I look forward to the next one, especially after reading that ending. Intriguing!
This book was great! I will say it time and time again that Cali can do no wrong. In Destroy we pick up right where the last book left off. Sasha has found two of her mates but her relationship isn’t strong with one. Chuck is seriously one of the best villains I have read. I hate him with my very being and I feel for Sasha. This book is action packed and steamy! I am mad at Cal though! I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. I definitely think there was a lot of character growth in this book! I highly recommend it!
This is such an amazing read that I read it twice. It moves along wonderfully keeping you reading till the very end no matter what you need to do. The characters are amazing and so real that you feel as though you know them and the story will grab you and keep you reading till the end. This is a must read, you will not be sorry that you did.
3.5 stars I enjoyed the book, however some parts seemed a little slow and I was willing the characters to do something and then in other parts lots happened. Sasha was a hard character to like in this book, I can see the love she has for her brother, and is starting to have for her mates, but I wanted to knock some sense into her too. I can see how hard it must be to trust someone but she still frustrated me. Drew was the perfect mate but Lucan still needs some work, lol. Lots happened in this book but I can see how lots more will be happening in book 3.
This book was phenomenal. I love the growing relationship between our FMC and 2 of her mates. There was so much action packed into this book. The story just keeps getting better, and just when I think I figure something out, another twists comes in and makes the plot thicken even more. I cant wait for the next book, esp with that little tidbit at the ending!!
Action packed and full of intrigue. I know it’s paranormal RH but for a change of pace, that’s not the focus. The suspense and drama run this book. I loved it. Plenty of steam but just not the main focus. Deep character development and world building happen and now I want to jump into the book and help bring the story to conclusion in book 3. Definitely recommend.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
3 & 1/2 stars rounded up. I apologize, I wrote the reviews for book 1 & 2 after reading them both, so I might have mixed up some stuff for each book. This book picks up where book 1 left off, so a new reader needs to start with book 1, or will be lost. The story definitely caught my attention. There was definitely a little bit off with the world building in book 1 that wasn't expanded on into book 2, but I found out as I write this review that this is a spin off from another series, so that may be where the disconnect in places comes in, since I hadn't read anything by this author before. There's definitely plot holes that took away from the book. I'm still confused about the "spirit shifter" being so dangerous, as that's never really expanded on, to understand the fear being put into the "going crazy" gossip, maybe this is explained in the other series? The other thing that's not expanded on that left me totally confused, is the characters go on about random sex hookups outside the academy, but then if she has sex with one of the guys in the RH, they become mates. It was never explained & just just didn't make sense. The main character, Sasha, is interesting but barely has any resemblance to the Sasha we meet in the beginning of book 1 (pre-academy). But the same could be said for the guys she gets involved with, they start out one way (swearing to not want to be involved or be a mate let alone hers) but then seem to do a 180 in the way they act or feel towards Sasha. Drew was a decent character by the end of this book, the one I could see being the best & most important match for Sasha, very supportive & actually totally accepting of the whole mate thing. Lucan was a total jerk, all his actions spoke of nothing but selfishness -& not because he's an alpha wolf. His mating her just so he could be first was a total turn off. When they mated, it felt so forced & definitely not like chemistry or lust, just hormonal from the bond driving them- for both of them. Took away all the emotional attachment and any like for Lucan that could have been for me. Cal, I have my doubts about him, since he wants to flirt with her -before he finds out he's supposed to be one of her mates, then he's all no part of it or her. I really thought that Poseidon was going to be the 3rd as her water element, until it's revealed at the end that it's Cal, it was almost a disappointment cause I think Poseidon would have caused a lot of crazy for the group that would have been funny. I have a guess at who the 4th mate will be, but am not 100% sure or on board with that thought. There's a lot of "telling" the reader something happened in the series, but it would have went further for the books to actually write those things into the story instead of an after thought that it "happened". I liked this enough to get book 3 when it releases -because I am curious to see where it goes.
I loved this second segment for the Misfit of Thornbriar Academy! Things are really getting so much more exciting and dangerous now! Sasha is put through the ringer this time around and it seems like the infirmary is her home away from home. I have to admit that Chuck is a pretty decent villain. This story makes it impossible to forget him and the threat he is to Sasha, her brother, and Thornbriar Academy. He is constantly finding ways to show up when Sasha least expects it, keeping her on her toes with the phone calls and visits, and using her flesh and blood first as a threat to harm him and then again as a bargaining chip to get what he wants. Sasha is such a strong and determined character that is used to fighting her own fights, handling things without any help, and relying solely on herself in all aspects of her life, but with Chuck threatening her brother, she finally has to loosen the reins and allow others, her mates and the headmaster, to assist and support her as she figures out a way to outsmart the man who seems to always be one step ahead. Slowly but surely she'll come to understand that accepting or asking for help does not make someone weak. Drew and Lucan are going to break down those walls brick by brick and it's clear by the end of the book that both guys are finally on the same page with Sasha. They will need that established trust in order to survive the upcoming insanity. With Chuck constantly being able to access the Thornbriar campus without being seen, it makes me wonder who else within the school could have been in cahoots with him. I'm dying to find out who else hates the spirit shifters and wants them gone. Hopefully some answers will be brought to light in the next book!
What a fantastic second book. Sasha really shows her strengths in this book, as well as exploring her relationships with her mates. I loved the character developments in this book, it gave me so much satisfaction watching it play out through the pages. There's lots of action and drama that keeps you reading until you unfortunately run out of pages. Phenomenal story and it has everything you could want in a rh paranormal fantasy. Cali Mann has a way with words and stories that takes you on an adventure that you never want it to end. Loved everything about it!
Sasha has two of her mates. Chuck is still threatening her brother, Alex. When she is burdened with his latest tactic, she only thinks of saving Alex. Accusations against her? She doesn't care. Betrayal seems to be the only thing she can be sure of. She has found her water shifter mate, but he is denying it. Who else could it be? And where in the world is her fire shifter? What other forms can she shift to? Will the hatred for Spirit Shifters ever wan?
Destroy continues right where Infiltrate left off. Sasha is trying to squash the evil plans that Chuck has for her and her brother. Some things don't go as planned and some do. She is still trying to navigate her mates and is looking for her third and fourth mate. A lot of things happen in this book, and possibly her third mate is found. Overall, I think it was a great book, quick read, lots of action and I am looking forward to book 3.
I love the growth we see in Sasha in this book. She is learning to trust others , and herself as well as standing up for herself. Her love for her brother is so strong and she is willing to go to great extremes to keep him safe. This was a great second book to the series . I really like the characters, the storyline and how that story is progressing. Nothing feels rushed, the story moves at a great pace, it was very enjoyable! I am looking forward to the next installment!
Fantastic! This one has so much action, drama, suspense, mystery and some great love scenes. It is extremely well written and the characters have grown greatly. I hope that Sasha becomes stronger and is is able to learn more about herself. Her mates are great if not stubborn at times. Yes, the story ends in a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
Wow, such a good book. This book is action packed and a page turner for sure. There is also self discovery, lust, hate, and love. Oh yes and a cliff hanger. I am not sure how many books will be in this series but this is book 2. This story s also told in multiple POV which is awesome cause you really get into the characters mindset. Great book, cannot wait for more.
Loved this story!!! This is the second book of this series and starts right where book 1 leaves off. Love the characters and the whole storyline. Love it so much I stayed up just to finish this book!!! Cali Mann is becoming another favorite author of mine. Seriously looking forward to book 3. Hopefully soon!!!
This story was great, the interactions between Sasha and the guys was really entertaining. Then, the sex scenes were extremely hot. Also, the way Sasha wants to protect every one is very brave, she is definitely a warrior. I am looking forward to the next book. Lastky, this would be a five star book, if not for the cliffhanger ending.
Book two stars where one left off..and Sasha and her Mates are learning to trust eachother. Alex and Molly are in this a little bit more..I love the relationship that is building between Sasha, Drew, and Lucan. And then there's Cal....not sure what I think of him now...🤔 he was a favorite.. now he seems weak and scared... I hope it turns around...I can't wait for the next book!! I loved it!
I'm enjoying the series and characters. The harem is building slowly but the 2 mates she has so far complement her. We get a hint at the 3rd mate but looks like he might need convincing. Looking forward to book 3
I’m glad Sasha is finally starting to trust and see that she can rely on others. There were some twists I wasn’t expecting at all. I really enjoyed this one a lot. This book had a lot of action along with emotions and fun moments. I need the next book it was so good!
Freaking Cal I can’t believe him 🙄 like seriously. Karma needs to be dealt to a few more people. I wonder if Flint is one of her mates ? I need answers ASAP . I can’t wait for book 3
This second book is just as face paced as the first, the ante has been uped again which keeps you glued to the pages to see what happens next. With two mates found and two still to go, i can't wait to see what happens next in this series.
An exciting follow up, with more twists! Interesting characters, and good dynamics between the characters. I feel like there is a different flavour of trouble in the horizon...
book was fabulous. I got caught up in the first chapter. I love the characters. Everything about this book was great. It was really well written and very intriguing. I loved it.
