Can a curvy baker help this broken dragon find peace?
Born in a lab and tortured for a lifetime, hybrid dragon Dallin has never had a real home or a purpose beyond revenge. And he doesn't expect that to change now, even if he's forced to be some human's bodyguard. Then he meets Jo, the curvy baker he needs to protect. She's fiery, sweet, passionate, and far too good for a broken monster like Dallin. But that doesn't stop his inner dragon from sitting up and growling 'mine'.
When Johanna gets a ridiculous letter claiming she's in danger and has been assigned a 'Dragon Protector', she thinks it's a scam. Then Dallin shows up, with his hulking body, haunted teal eyes and a face so gorgeous it could almost be supernatural. After he saves her, Jo realizes everything is true. She's in danger, and despite his perpetual scowls, Dallin is determined to keep her safe. Too bad Jo is starting to feel the real danger is how quickly she's losing her heart to a sexy, unexpectedly sweet dragon who needs her as much as she needs him.
Between cupcake flavored kisses and steamy nights overlooking the ocean, Dallin's getting the distinct impression that maybe he's found the one--his mate. But he knows there's still something inside him that he can't fix. And if he doesn't learn to let Jo in and trust his heart, an unstoppable force from the darkness may destroy everything they hold dear.
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

I've been trying to make my way through this book for a few weeks now and it's just not happening. It feels like I'm wading through muck waiting for something to change and it never does. Strangely enough, I loved the Wings, Wands, and Soul Bonds series. I was actually very interested in a dragon spin-off series (which is this book) but I'm just not feeling it with this book.
I can't put my finger on what exactly is bothering me and that's the most frustrating part about this. The main characters are fine. The world-building is barely there (if I hadn't read WWSB I would have been a tad bit lost and overall confused). I love how the character's in the past series are still present in this one. BUT something is still off. I'll probably give this series another go with the next book and hope this one was just a fluke.
I grabbed this book because ➀ dragons and ➁ bakers/chefs combined in a book? Hell yeah! These are two of my most favorite character types in romance books. Sadly, the possibility of what this could’ve been didn’t live up to the actual story. Not for me at least.
While I liked parts of it — like he’s grumpy and surly with everyone but her; or how he loves her cooking/baking; or that scene with her doing a live stream of making cupcakes and he ended up helping her out. BUT I grew bored/tired of how he was so insistent that he was a monster (and not good enough for her) and how he was a prick about his fae side. I mean I get it because he was abused for years and years but these parts just dragged on and on for me. I would’ve wanted more baking or more fight/action scenes but other than one detailed cooking scene and three fight scenes; the rest (around 60% of the book) was all angsty hemming and hawing. Sigh. She didn’t even display any powers.
I’m a little bummed to be honest.

This book is sweet, funny and emotional. A troubled dragonshifter with a traumatic past, needs to come into terms of his true self and let his past go in order to be able to love and protect his mate. True Terry Bolryder paranormal shifter romance, set into her created shifter world, the first book in the new dragonshifter series The Reclaimed Dragons. Recommended for all lovers of sexy paranormal and shifter romances.
I've liked a lot of Terry's dragon books, although not enough to write a review until now. But I think this is the best one especially intermingled with the fae stories, which I've mixed feelings on those books. This one is funny, sweet, a true relationship that builds, sexy and romantic. It deals with some hefty emotional issues that Dallin faced and his mistakes. I liked the lead female character. She was sweet, good sense of humor and just seemed like a well rounded person. The lead females are often annoying in these books, but Jo was awesome. Looking forward to the next in the series.
I somehow missed this series and I don’t know how. It’s an interesting premise to build dragons and fae together to create some new race. I thought our little baker was a bit “weak” but I guess it takes all kinds.
This is a good start to the Reclaimed Dragons series. I was hoping we would get a series about the dragons rescued from the evil fae after I read about them in the Forgotten Dragons series and the Wings, Wands, and Soul Bonds series. I have liked all of Terry's dragon series, and it is nice to now have a series about hybrid dragons, who have both dragon and fae powers.
This book is about Dallin and his relationship with Johanna, a beacon who he was assigned to protect. Dallin was initially angry that he had been assigned to protect Jo, when he wanted to help rescue more captive dragons from the evil fae who had imprisoned him. He was grouchy about that, and I really didn't understand what Jo saw in him other than his good looks. Since he had been imprisoned for so long, he also didn't really understand much about human culture, and some of his reactions were funny.
Jo was likable and sweet, if a little too quick to forgive Dallin at one point. I did like, though, that she accepted him as he was, as soon as she heard about his sad history as a captive. She seemed to understand immediately that his past drove him, and that much of his behavior was based on the lies he had come to believe about himself. It was sweet how she cared for him in spite of his issues.
This one gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded up to 4 stars. I enjoyed it, and recommend it to anyone who likes paranormal romances. I do think readers will enjoy it more if they read several of Terry's earlier series first, though. Those series are Double Dragons, Tiger Protectors, Awakened Dragons, Awakened Sea Dragons, Rent-a-Dragon, Date a Dragon, Nightmare Dragons, Frozen Dragons, Forgotten Dragons, and Wings, Wands, & Soul Bonds. Readers should definitely read at least the Forgotten Dragons series and the Wings, Wands, & Soul Bonds series before beginning this one.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Except these dragons are a bit different. Dallin has just gotten his first job to protect a beacon, Jo. No doesn't understand why she needs protection. She is just a baker. Then things start happening. To really get the full effect of this story, you should read at least Dragon in Love and then the 4 Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds books in order. If you want to read about the whole Terry Bolryder Dragon world, you can start in 2 spots. If you don't mind stories with more than one on one, then read Double Dragons box set and then Tiger Protectors box set. If you want just one on one, then start with Awakened Dragons box set, Rent-A-Dragon bed set, Date-A-Dragon box set, Awakened Sea Dragons box set, dragons of Drakkaris box set, then Nightmare Dragons, Frozen Dragons, Club Crimson, Bad Dragons, Forgotten Dragons (including the final book Dragon in Love), and then Wings, Wands and Soul Bonds before this one.
This story has a fast pace, an uncertain yet hopeful tone and a character oriented storyline with some action and some steamy scenes. The characters are vivid and engaging. You really want them to figure things out! If you like complex worlds with tons of shifters and action, then this is for you! Enjoy!
A so-so, quick read that had a lot of potential but fell short.
It was a good story of reclamation as Dallin works to come to term with his past trauma and the monster within. But for the most part he was unlikable. The story focused more on Dallin than anything else, so Johanna, while kind and caring, was more a flat, secondary character. Despite their steamy moments together, there wasn't anything distinct about her that made me think she's perfect for Dallin and vice versa. I wanted to know more about her, her desires, wants and fears than the bare minimum.
Sometimes I felt lost while reading or that I missed out on something crucial to this story. Looks like reading the authors Wings, Wands, and Soul Bonds series before this one would have been best. I didn't like some of the dialogue, particularly during action scenes, which made me cringe. Also also, I couldn't get over the fact that Dallin's part emerald dragon but his eyes are teal and the cover is teal.
On the whole, this book just didn't work for me and could have been so much more.
Is this set of books about the story line about dragons, or is it about the amount of descriptive sex acts that can be put in a book ???, If it is the story line then it failed. I have read all of Terry's books except the paired dragons. The last set has a great story line, and I really enjoyed the story, but for me the sex should be a side note. I have never given a 3 star before, which is a shame. I feel Terry has a great story making mind with whatever shifter she chooses to use, and to be fair, she excels at it. But the sex needs to be non descriptive, or at least calmed right down. So to sum up. Readers reading about shifters want to read about the intrigue the life, the ups and downs of being a shifter, not how many times they can bed a girl. A strong story line PLEASE !!. I got to the stage where I was skipping all the sex scenes, and finding the story line was weakening. I will continue to support and buy your books.
Once again the author has managed to show a big bad shifter's sweet side. As much hate as he has the beings that have tortured him he has such a sweet attitude to children and is so good to Johanna. That doesn't mean he isn't still the big-bad guy.
Dallin has been released from his torture prison to be conditioned to live among humans to protect others. He doesn't make it easy. Watching him work with Johanna in the bakery is a riot. As much as he doesn't want to care about a human she is important to him. Too bad he isn't good enough for her--at least n his opinion.
Can Johanna convince Dallin of his importance? Will his past ruin his future? Their future?
I love the visits from other dragons in other series. The start of another great series with more to come.
I enjoyed this book and thought it was a very promising start to this series. The storyline held my attention well and had me quite invested in this couple. This read offers a well written combination of emotion, drama, action, danger, humor, heat and romance. I like both characters a lot. Johanna and Dallin had great chemistry and I enjoyed their banter and the interactions they shared. Whether they were at odds or working together, I felt that there was plenty of sparks and sweetness. I will say that there were times when I felt a bit confused and left out of the loop because I think this book/series has strong connections to previous books by this author. It wasn't terrible but it was a bit annoying. In spite of that though I really did enjoy it and I am looking forward to reading future books in this series.
Dragon Released: Reclaimed Dragons Book 1 By Terry Bolryder Kindle unlimited purchase Dallin was no ordinary dragon. The metal chain on his wrist held his powers back. His strength. Even his ability to shift. And the only instruction he’d been given was that he’d have access to his powers if he ever really needed them. What did that mean? Johanna is just a human baker. She didn't know about dragons and fae. Now she has a dragon protector. This NEW series is another spin-off. I recommend taking the time to read the books/series in order. So far this "book" has a lot of cross over of characters from the other series. This was a great start. I wonder who gets their book next. UV?
This was a fantastic story, and a great beginning to the series. I have really enjoyed all of the dragon and fae books by this author, and I can't wait to read more. It's not necessary, but if you really want to understand everything from the beginning, I would highly recommend that you start with the Dragons of New York series, and then read all of the dragon/fae series in the order of release. If you really enjoy this authors work, you can also get the book that consists of the correct reading order. (Sorry, can't remember the name of it, but it's available on Amazon) I have already read almost all of the books, and I have yet to find one that I didn't enjoy. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
Dallin is a dragon/fae hybrid, but he hates the fae. They are the ones who did experiments on him all his life. So he refuses to listen to any instruction about how to manifest into his fae side. He is assigned to watch over Johanna. She is a baker. She just recieved a package stating that she is a beacon with latent fae powers. She believes someone is spoofing her. So when he "bodyguard" shows up she tells him to leave. Read to find out if they ever learn to trust each other or if their powers remain hidden. What happens when Ultraviolet and the Chaos fae enter the equation?
I usually enjoy books by Terry Bolryder. They are very quick, light reads with a good combination of fantasy, romance and humour. I found this book lacking in all areas. The characters of Johanna and Dallin were never fully developed and their backgrounds were touched upon but never properly discussed. I think that Dallin has appeared in previous books and his history may be found there instead of in this story. The whole book felt rushed and formulaic with very little action. I was just happy to make it to the last page. Definitely a disappointment.
Dallin was told he had to protect Johanna if he was to ever get all his dragon powers back but he just wanted it over with already. He had been held prisoner for years by the evil Light Fae, tortured, experimented on and denied freedom. But after meeting and getting to know Jo he decided that it might not be a bad idea to stick around and see what happens with Jo. Johanna never knew that the magical world existed or thought was real in anyway. But when Dallin showed up to start to protect her from all harm she began to see she just might need help in being protected.
Dallin is new at being on the good side and for past misdeeds he is forced to wear a suppressor to stopping from using his powers. He is also given the job of protecting Jo, a beacon, a light fairy in the human world. Jo is a cook and doesn't believe in all that nonsense: she can't possibly be a fairy. Despite this, she is assigned a dragon for protection and their attraction is instant and become a couple but Dallin struggles with his past and leaves. But he won't be rid of Jo that easy. Great plot, likeable characters and red hot romance. Highly recommended
I really enjoyed reading about Dallin and finding out more about what am he went through. It was nice to hear how the other dragons felt about him. Fall in never felt worthy of anything because of how his life had gone. Jo could see the good in Fall in and how they fit together. The one thing I was a bit disappointed in not having in this story was when both of them take on their fairy forms when they truly bonded. I always thought that was a neat way to deal their bond. Really enjoy the far and dragons in this series.
Awesome!! I just love a happy ending. Dallin now has two forms, a Fae which he hated so much but now loves his Fae side and his Emerald Dragon. And Joanna didn't do so bad either, she is now a Radiant Fae, with a little Dragon power of her own from the ring Dallin gave her. I love that one of the first Dragon was present in this series Aegis the Emerald Dragon. It's good to see one of the first dragons show up every now and again..anyway can't wait to read Ryder and Landon story..big fan as always Winzie19☺💞.
Poor Dallin he is just so messed up from all the years of torture he went through that he lets it get in the way of making a life with Jo. Really enjoyed seeing the softer side of Dallin, I knew he had it in him. We got glimpses of the good man he is underneath all that surliness in the previous books so it was nice to see more of that. I'm even more curious now to learn more about ultraviolet. I hope she gets a happy ending after everything she has been through. I'm also loving the new dragons and can't wait to read their stories.
Another great book from Terry Bolryder revealing the lives and loves of the dragons. I have been reading these books for a few years now, and quite honestly can’t get enough of them. Each story is unique but following the dragons as they connect with their mates. Dallin loves Jo but takes some convincing that it is he who needs to be there for her, and it’s him she truly loves despite everything he hates about himself. Has some very descriptive love making, if this offends you, probably not the book for you.
I swear i have no idea how I stumbled into getting hooked, I started with the Wings and Wands series which was a bit too sappy for my taste but they were also funny and the story building in the background just got more and more interesting. Defiantly loved moving on to Dallian’s story, something about that cranky dragon just pulls you in. And here we are the 5th one I’ve read from Terry Bolryder and i know at this point I’m going in for more...lol. Well
What an enjoyable read! Dallin is a self-hating hybrid dragon who doesn't realize his own worth; it's charming to see how his inherent nobility is automatically recognized by everyone around him. Johanna is a sweet little baking beacon; very likeable but for an irritating tendency toward passivity. The conflicts are well-written, as are the heart wrenching glimpses of Dallin's and Vex's hellish pasts, and the cameo appearances are perfect; they make the reader fully engaged in and eager for the upcoming battles that have been alluded to!
Johanna, a sweet and gentle baker lady receives notice that she is a Beacon, and should expect the services of a hybrid dragon shifter as a protector during her gradual transition into a fairy. Dallin enters as her protector, a grumpy yet sexy man dedicated to guard her from all evils. Their gradual relationship expands as they scale obstacles of men intent on trouble, and situations that try Dallin’s patience. An adult fairytale aimed at entertaining the reader.
Dallin believes himself a monster. Jo has always amerced herself in her baking. Attraction is instant, but his demons are stronger. Will Dallin be able to find her before it is to late? Will love conquer all?
I honestly loved seeing this side of Dallin! After meeting Dallin previously, I loved seeing a softer and protective side of him. I thought that Jo was rather strong and loved how she took everything in stride. Good read!

Was absolutely excited to read Dalian. What a perfect story. Loved the ultra violet was in this one and hope she gets her happy every after. Really freaking loved that the bad A## of all dragons, the Emerald dragon himself made an appearance. Made my day. These two were so sweet and I loved reading about him working through everything he has went through. Jo was so patient and exactly what he needed. Cant wait for the next one.
Jo was peacefully in the world of desserts. She gets this letter and her world is changed in that moment. She needs protection?? A dragon protector?? Seriously! Dallin finds that redemption comes with protecting a human, a beacon who doesn't know what that means. The attraction is instant, but why and how is that possible? Dillan isn't looking for this, but damn.
Reclaimed Dragons book 1. This is Dallin's story. Dallin was in previous books. A simply fanfreakingtastic read. Dallin is still acting like a jerk but you get to know and understand him better. He has an assignment to protect a beacon. Johanna doesn't know she is a beacon. Now let the craziness begin. And the scene in the candy store is everything.
I think this is my most favorite book yet! I love all the dragons and the fae are growing on me but this angry, grumpy hybrid takes the first prize! Jo was so sweet and their story was funny, cute and very entertaining! You are riveted till the end! I can’t wait to read more in the next 2 books!
