He's the leader of the mountain rescue service. She might just need saving.
Lochie
For too long, I've been alone. Just me and my daughter. Keeping her safe is everything, so taking a job in the remote Scottish Highlands suits us fine.
I shouldn't need anything more.
Yet I'm beyond distracted by a lass.
Smart, beautiful, and living right next door, Cait McRae makes it clear she's not interested. Every sly glance tells another story.
It's all I can do not to throw her over my shoulder and take her home.
Cait might claim she only wants to explore the physical, but I know she's wrong.
She's mine.
If the people pursuing us both don't destroy what we've found.
Cait
I always knew I was different. No one ever caught my eye.
Until a huge, scowling man moves in next door. He's the new head of the mountain rescue service, and a single dad to a sweet little girl.
Turns out, I'm a late bloomer, as all I can think about is Lochie.
But someone else wants me.
A series of strange events point to one conclusion. I have a stalker, and the danger I'm in is only just starting.

Obsessed is book one in the Wild Mountain Scots series by Jolie Vines. This is my very first book by Jolie. I’ve been wanting to read this for some time. I knew this would be suspenseful but wow! I wasn’t prepared for how suspenseful it really was! I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout and kept guessing!
Cait McRae grew up with a dad, step mom and huge family that loved her. But she always felt different. Surrounded by family members falling in love and having children, she couldn’t help but feel a little jealous because she was lacking in something that everyone else seemed to have. She never felt attraction or sexual interest. It just wasn’t there. She desperately wanted children but had given up on having a normal, loving relationship.
Lochinvar Ross took the job as interim head to the mountain rescue team in the remote Scottish Highlands. What a perfect place to hide. Lochinvar is single dad to his adorable six year old daughter and her safety is his number one priority. She is in danger and this is the perfect place to hide. He was assured his new neighbor, a single woman, would help with babysitting while he was on call outs.
The first time Cait and Lochie met, there were sparks. But then Cait seemed to close herself off. Lochie thought he felt and saw interest from her and can’t figure out why she keeps her distance. He’s only staying until the man he replaced can return. When Cait finally admits she wants to pursue something with him, a physical relationship only, he knows she yearns for more but since he is only staying temporarily, he’s fine with it.
Cait has never experienced attraction in her life. Why now? And why this man, her new neighbor, and a man who will be leaving in a few months? Maybe this is the perfect answer. She can explore these new feelings on a temporary basis!
Cait has been experiencing some disturbing events recently, events she wants to dismiss but all together, they are worrying. Could someone be stalking her? As she and Lochie get closer, he reveals his own story to her. It is obvious that someone wants to hurt them but is it someone from Lochie’s past or from hers?
First, I loved Lochie and Cait together. I loved that Lochie was the only man that awakened Cait’s inner sexy side. He loved it too! And there is nothing more swoony than a man who has such devotion to his daughter. He would do anything, had done everything, to keep her safe. Cait is the first woman he wanted anything from and seeing her with his little girl made it more so. But how could he ever stay?
Jolie Vines manages to keep us on the edge of our seats throughout this book, building to a huge ending. These two deserved so much happiness and I so wanted them to be able to make things work. Add in this adorable little girl and you’ve got a wonderful book. The next book in this series is Cameron’s story in Hunted!
I was sold on this book by a TikTok video that had a scene where the heroine wakes up in the heroes bed, the heroes daughter walks in, she hides… after the daughter leaves, the hero says something like, “I want you here every day.”
So yeah, of course I checked it out. I’m a sucker for a single parent romance.
Ultimately, this was a seriously average book.
I think this author had another series because there were so many characters already paired up that had to have had their own books. The inclusion of so many background characters was both cute and a little overwhelming - the heroine has a huge family in Scotland, the McRae’s.
It was pretty slow - the pacing and the amount of time before the relationship picks up. The quick flips between the H/h POVs were jarring. I think the heroine’s indifference to men until she meets the hero was interesting… but couldn’t outweigh the plot and relationship, both I wasn’t sold on.
Oh man. I JUST finished reading this and I absolutely loved every second of it. It was fast paced, interesting, sexy, and had some fantastic twists! I love how protective Lochie was of Caitriona, how awesome Cait was with Ilsa, how amazing the McRae’s are... I just loved this whole story! The confrontation scene was perfect. I felt like we all know who the culprit was, but it was fantastic that the author was able to throw some seriously unexpected twists! Also- is it MAY yet?? After that sneak peek, I’m dying for Hunted!!!
Cait is part of a large Scots family. Her past is influencing her present but she is strong and moving forward into the life she wants. That is until Lochie and his daughter move to the area. Lochie has a big secret from his past that is also affecting his present. This book is fast moving with adventure involving mountain rescue. It also includes a mystery involving stalking. Of course Cait and Lochie provide the romance. I liked the pace of this book and fell in love with the characters. I will be reading more from this series. I received a free copy of this book. The honest opinions in this review are my own.
Oh my, I am OBSESSED! I am obsessed with everything that is this book. Such a great start to the series.
Cait and Lochie's story was amazing. I loved every minute of it, no regrets. Their story is filled with romance, passion, mystery, and suspense. And it was perfectly written too. The chemistry between these two is undeniable. His love for his daughter just makes him all the more swoon-worthy. Then there's the McRae family who jumped in to help them without condition. This book has the best characters. I can't wait to see more of them in the next books.
I could not put this book down. This is a must-read! I can't wait for Cameron's story next.
edit: I am obsessed with the bonus epilogue! I'm just happy for Cait, Lochie and Isla!
Ultimately this was okay but kind of boring. I love single-parent-romance, but it just didn't pull me in.
I appreciated the addition of the Scottish dialect, but it didn't feel very authentic and, at times, was distracting. Sort of like, the book had been written, and then someone went through it with find and replace to add in the Scottish words.
I didn't really enjoy the fmc too. Something about her being so attractive that people couldn't help but fall in love was too unrelatable for me.
I've not read anything else from this author, but I can only assume a lot of the side characters have their own books in another series, maybe? They just seemed to overwhelm the story.
Welcome back to The Highlands of Scotland and the McRae Family. In this new series Jolie Vines brings us back to yet another part of the family. This is a stand alone that has interconnected characters from so many books and it is not necessary to read them I think after reading this one you are going to want to go back and read the rest. At least that’s what I’m going to do!
Jolie has written a story with complex characters with vulnerability as well as strength. This story is action packed and will keep you turning pages until you are done. You won’t want to wait to see what happens, you will have to finish.
This story has everything needed for a great story, there is a sexy alpha, a smart heroine, a sassy little girl and so much more! Do not miss out on this one!
Obsessed (Wild Mountain Scots #1) by Jolie Vines is a contemporary romantic suspense told mostly in first person dual POV with a third perspective sprinkled in a few times.
Caitriona McRae has always wanted to be a mother, but she has never felt attraction for anyone. She thinks she's incapable, and therefore incapable of love. She thinks she's not cut out for a traditional family relationship, so she plans to start a family as a single woman. When Lochinvar Ross moves next door with his little girl to temporarily run the mountain rescue, Cait starts to feel things - physical things - that she's never experienced before. So Cait approaches Lochie to help explore her sexuality, and he's more than willing to assist.
But Lochie has secrets. He can't allow himself to get too comfortable or attached, because if his past finds him, he needs to take his daughter and run. Strange things have also been happening around Cait in increasing measure, and someone has clearly been watching her. Is danger lurking right around the corner? What will happen between Cait and Lochie as they explore their fantasies together? Will they remain friends-with-benefits or will they evolve into more? Is Cait even capable of more? And who is Lochie hiding from? Will the past catch up with him? Read the book to find out!
I thoroughly enjoyed Cait and Lochie's story. I loved them both as characters and was invested in them from the start. The Wild Mountain Scots series is a spin-off from the Marry the Scot series and the Wild Scots series, so there are lots of fun character cameos in this book as Cait comes from huge, close-knit family clan. If you haven't read those series, don't worry. There's a family tree included that shows how everyone is related. The story was hot and heart-warming, mysterious, suspenseful, dark and creepy at times, and action-packed. Highly recommended! I'm looking forward to Cameron's story, and can't wait to read what comes next.
Brilliant read - thrilling, sexy, romantic and suspenseful. Each time this author releases a new book, the hero becomes my favourite! So, it’s just easier to say that ALL her heroes are my favourites! LOL
”A few days ago, I found myself stuck staring at a man chopping wood, half naked. He was beautiful, and I think it woke something in me.”
Caitriona McRae has never felt a connection with anyone, until the moody and gruff Lochinvar Ross and his little girl, Isla, move in next door to her. Initially, he doesn’t make a good impression on her and vice versa, but there’s no denying the sizzling connection between them. Lochie sparks something in her that has lain dormant all her life and, in turn, he’s never experienced a desire for a woman like his desire for Cait. However, Cait is dealing with a possible stalker and Lochie is keeping secrets close to his chest and has plans to move on after his contract is done.
”Bathed as I was in Cait’s company, her scent, and her half-amused look, my surge of need eclipsed all reason.”
God, the intensity between Lochie and Cait was absolutely riveting! There’s a darkness and naughtiness between them that revs their engines something fierce and had my heart pounding. I loved Cait’s voyage of sexual discovery and Lochie’s thoughtfulness of her, even as he indulged his need for her. I also loved the element of mystery and danger. And, his words! Who knew such a rough and tough mountain man could be so flippin' romantic and swoony! It added another whole thrilling dimension to the story. This was such a well-written story, as always, from an author who goes from strength to strength. I adore the family dynamics and her heroes are always to die for! Thoroughly recommend!
5 star Review of Obsessed (Wild Mountain Scots #1) by Jolie Vines
From the first chapter to the last I was totally invested in Caitriona (Cait) and Lochinvar (Lochie)’s story. Lochie is a single dad, to a beautiful little girl, Isla and this is a genre that I have been reading more and more of lately, I just love them.
Obsessed is the first book in the Wild Mountain Scots series by Jolie Vines and it was an entertaining read. There is romance, mystery and suspense as Lochie will need to draw on all his skills as the leader of the Mountain Rescue Service to protect Cait and his daughter.
The story is well written, the characters strong and easy to relate too. I love that her heroines are strong, sassy and feisty and not afraid to fight for what she believes in. However, when it appears that she has a stalker, Cait is worried. The twists and turns woven throughout this story added an additional layer and kept me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry between Lochie and Cait is smoking hot and there were times that my heart was in my mouth as I read. This is a roller coaster of a read that I loved.
Bonny Cait & a mountain man with a secret: thrills, chills and heat😊
This first in a new Scottish romantic thriller series by Jolie Vines, one of my go-to writers of contemporary romance with a Scottish flavor, is romantic and suspenseful, but I also love a single, devoted father with an adorable child and that made it even better. Little six year-old Isla is a catalyst for her search and rescue coordinating dad Lochie and university contractor Cait to interact and, once they start, there's no turning back or turning down the heat!
An obsessed villain and dangerous rescue operations in abysmal weather conditions brought plenty of nail-biting action too. I really enjoyed trying to figure out who was messing with Cait's life and there were some good red herrings to keep me guessing for a good part of the story.
Cait's legion of relatives could be confusing if you have not read her previous Scots series, but there's a family tree diagram at the start of the book to help you figure them out.
Totally engrossing first taste of a series that I know I will be following to the end.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I liked this one, although it took me longer than I would have liked to really connect with the characters. I get that this is interwoven with two separate series, but I wanted to get more Lochie and Cait one on one. There seemed to be no real feelings until BAM all of a sudden there were.
It didn’t feel organic to me, and I seriously just didn’t really get what was Cait’s issue with men and relationships. I couldn’t relate to her at all, and I resented her attitude towards Lochie from the start.
And while I liked Lochie and I liked his intensity, he felt really one dimensional to me. I guess I just wanted more, although I really liked the side stories about the rescue business and the stalker!
Obsessed is Jolie’s first book in her Wild Mountain Scots series. A story about Cait, who knows at an early age she’s different from other women. Cait is ready to start her own family without a partner. She’s strong and independent.. until she meets Lochie. A mountain of a man with his own secrets. Lochie is running from his past and runs right into Cait. Together they realize the life they thought they were ready to live wasn’t really what they needed. Can they both escape their stalkers and finally have the happiness they deserve?
The very first few sentences had me captivated and sitting on the edge of my seat. I knew this book would be full of suspense right away and I didn’t want to put it down until I knew how it ended. You get both Cait and Lochie’s pov in this story which I loved. I need to know what each main character is thinking and feeling. That’s exactly what Jolie gives her readers. This book will entertain any age reader with its romance, suspense, and thrilling Highlands adventure. Jolie will teleport you to Scotland and have you smelling the crisp mountain air. Are you ready to laugh, cry, and bite your nails? Start reading Obsessed and become obsessed with this incredibly written story.
Obsessed by Joli Vines is the first book in her Wild Mountain Scots series. Ms Vines is a new author to me and while romantic suspense is my jam, this book just didn’t do it for me. The writing was just ok in my opinion and the story was too busy. I had a hard time really getting into the book and had to put it down several times. 4⭐️
Obsessed by Jolie Vines is the First book in the Wild Mountain Scots Series. This is the story of Lochinvar 'Lochie' Ross and Caitriona 'Cait' McRae. Lochie moves to protect his daughter which is how he ends up being neighbors to Cait. Cait has always long for a family of her own but has never had feelings towards another person to meet that goal. Sparks fly between the two when the meet but both have their secrets that keep things from moving closer. But soon they can't stop their feelings. Loved this book and can't wait for more in this series and from this author.
Got this free back in 2021. Scotish mountain men? Sign me up! Except this was so bad!! It’s cheesy and just plain awkward at the same time. I even tried the audio to see if it would help. The gentlman did a decent job, but the woman sounded like she was trying too hard with her emphasized rolled Rs. At times she sounded like she had an Indian accent instead of Scotish. I tried just listening to his parts and skipping hers. Didn’t help. Anyway, no rating since I didn’t get very far. I’m disappointed. ☹️
Holy smokes 😳😳 If I could give more than 5 stars I would!!
Lochie is a protective mountain Alpha man. Cait is strong, independent and knows what she wants.... or does she. She becomes attracted to her burly neighbour and the chemistry between the two is 🔥🔥.
Their journey is amazing, angsty and dramatic! They are utterly perfect for each other is every way.
I have been waiting for this. I’ve made no mystery about my love for Jolie Vines’s Scottish Highlander heroes and heroines. She has this amazing capacity to craft heroes who adore their heroines, and it makes you light up inside at the revelation of their love stories. But something has always felt underwhelming in the later chapters of her stories (epilogues excluded). Once the heroine accepts/acknowledges her love for these brawny, masculine heroes who adore them, the story loses a bit of its shine. It drags sometimes in ways that undermine the overall feel for the book, so I oftentimes give her books 4 and 4 ½ star reviews. I still adore her characterizations and the decidedly Scottish and English voices of her stories, but I’ve always expected a bit more. And that may be my fault, but I knew that there was more for her to give. And she has done it in her newest book, Obsessed. Let’s just say that I’ve become a bit obsessed with the hero and heroine of this story, Lochinvar “Lochie” and Caitriona “Cait.” So let’s begin about all the reasons why I adored this book, cementing it as tied for my favorite book with her Love Most Say Least:
For me, this book’s plotting and story development feel the most evenly paced. I believe this is the case because there is some romantic suspense within this story for both Lochie and Cait. As such, Vines is so careful to reveal the evolution and resolution to each of their stories that your interest in the story development is maintained through to the end. Even then, the resolution makes you feel replete. This felt different from her other books where the finality of the story was grounded in characterization (which is also the case here) instead of the story. I LOVED that aspect of Obsessed.
Additionally, Vines plays with ideas about $exuality in this book that are intriguing. She speaks to it in her acknowledgments, and it’s an aspect of $exuality that is rarely discussed or shown in romance. In doing that, Vines continues to push the envelope of romance writing along with pushing the boundaries of her own romances. It’s clear that she isn’t interested in generating staid romance. She seeking after evolution. Cait’s characterization as a beautiful woman who doesn’t feel strongly about love with any man is so contrary to romantic heroines that I adore reading her. Vines has thrown out the formula and rewritten it for Obsessed.
There is a psychology to this book that also intrigues me. While Vines handles Cait’s depiction well in this story, she also plays with the idea of the perceptions of others on our own perception of ourselves. Let me grow tangential here. I’ve been thinking recently about the impact of parents posting about their children online, how they are creating an idealized version of their children that their children can later consume. I’ve wondered how that might craft a different version of identity for their children that isn’t grounded in reality. And I’ve worried that we are raising a generation of confused children for it. In Obsessed, Vines plays somewhat with that idea of the influence of how others view our lives and its traumas in crafting our identity and choices in the present. This is shown in both Lochie and Cait’s depictions, making for an intriguing and thoughtful read. I love how Vines uses this idea to connect these two, adding gravity to their depiction. While it’s clear that Lochie and Cait feel something for each other, it takes much of the story for that knot to be unraveled. And as Vines has done well in the past, Lochie embodies the Vines hero well. However, unlike past stories, it’s done in a way that isn’t rushed and keeps the tension of the story driving forward.
There is so much to love about Jolie Vines’s Obsessed. I could wax poetic forever on the depth of storytelling and characterization in this story. But to do so would ruin the book for her readers. Instead, I challenge you to run and grab this book today. It still has some traditional romance elements, but I see Vines astutely and brilliantly pushing the boundaries of romance with Obsessed. Honestly, you won’t want to put Lochie and Cait down.
New author for me and it was good, genre-wise it’s a contemporary romance with some added suspense. Lochie along with his young daughter Isla has taken a temporary job as leader of a mountain rescue team up in the Scottish highlands. He’s also trying to lay low to keep his daughter safe from a past that may now be catching up with them.
Cait is the neighbour on hand to assist with any babysitting when he’s on call. She’s also part of a huge extended family some of who will be working alongside Lochie. She also has a stalker just low key things up until now like missing items and hacked emails but the latest incident sees offensive graffiti being sprayed on her door and she has no idea who could be targeting her.
So up until now if anyone asked Cait would have sworn to being asexual but the arrival of Lochie sparks something to life and the attraction between them is definitely mutual. Despite getting off on the wrong foot it’s not long before sparks fly and the initial primal attraction between these two was super hot with plenty of chemistry.
Neither are looking for anything permanent Lochie because of moving on when his temporary job is over and Cait because she just wants to explore her first-ever attraction. But it’s not long before both their feelings get all tangled up and despite their best intentions they both become attached and fall deeply but with outside influences closing in and the danger escalating things are definitely getting dicey.
This was well written and an easy read I liked both Cait and Lochie and little Isla was adorable. There was plenty of chemistry and this easily kept my attention. It’s a very heartwarming romance that I enjoyed a lot. I especially liked the unique aspect of the mountain rescue team and the family orientated environment I was intrigued by all the many side characters involved and am now planning on checking out other stories set in this particular world. This gets a thumbs up from me it was a great read.
Excuse me for one moment while I go book my trip to the Scottish Highlands because sign me up. This book has romance, hotness, sweetness, mystery and suspense. Obsessed by Jolie Vines was an absolute wild ride and I’m all for it.
We meet Lochie and his daughter Isla when they move into a cottage in the Scottish Highlands where Lochie has taken a temporary contract as a rescue commander for the Glen and Loch in the area. He has a tense run in with his new neighbor, Cait so they are not off to a good start. However, Cait had previously agreed to watch Isla when Lochie is called away to do a rescue mission. Strange things have been happening to Cait which has Lochie concerned. Someone is obsessed with Cait. Lochie has his own secrets which he’s been running from with his daughter.
Cait is not your normal heroine in a story and I loved that about her. Cait has thought for a long time that she was asexual which is something I’ve never seen explored in a book. Meeting Lochie has awakened something in her and meeting Cait has awakened something in Lochie that he thought was long gone. Lochie is a gruffy alpha who would do anything to protect his daughter and now Cait. Cait is just as protective of her family and friends so they are a good match.
This book had so much to offer and I love a romantic suspense novel. The few last chapters were intense and I could not put the book down. Jolie Vines left us with a great epilogue which is a preview to the next book. I can’t wait to read it.
Obsessed is Book 1 of Jolie Vines new series - Wild Mountain Scots and is a clench your kindle, nail biting, romance read. It is intense, action packed, sexy and sweet.
Lochinvar/Lochie is a complicated man. He is a sexy outdoorsman, ex military, natural born leader and single dad, to a beautiful and smart little girl, named Isla. His tough as nails personality keeps people at a safe distance, but his gentleness comes shining through with every interaction he has with his daughter. Lochie is running away from a past that could destroy him and is not looking for complications.
Cait is beautiful and smart and fiercely independent. She too is not looking for complications because her life is complicated enough already, but the heart wants what the heart wants, and hers wants a family. Cait is a complex character and her love hate relationship with men and sex, makes her an interesting one as well. When the possessive alpha moves in next door she is shocked to find herself interested in him as a man (factor in his beautiful daughter, and she is a goner).
The strange and insane chemistry between the two and the suspenseful undertones of the book make this a read in one sitting romance read. I was glued to my kindle and needed to read this book as ASAP as possible. Watching Cait, Lochie and Isla get their happily ever after made my book loving heart happy. TBR Obsessed and Enjoy!
Obsessed, that's the perfect word to describe my feelings for this book. Review done...
No, I couldn't just write this one sentence for this book 😉 But honestly, this one word is so perfect. This book has everything. It has a wonderful, protective, hot mountain single dad man. With a cute little daughter. It has a lot of action and surprises. And a wonderful heartwarming cute heroine who thinks she is a$exuel. Lochinvar is on the run. I can't say why, but he and his daughter have to hide. What better place to do that than in the mountains? 😁 But that's not the only thing that causes the action in this book. Cait has a stalker. Sure, she doesn't know who it is and she thinks it's not that bad... But it is. That's what I can say. There are a few candidates, because we all know (at least from all the books we read) how men can react when they don't get what they want. And as I already said, Cait thinks she is a$exuel, and so she doesn't want any man in her life... Except for her family. Oh, and I loved the scene when Lochie asked Cait to help him with her family members 🤣 This is the third series and every series has a couple and all the couples have children or are pregnant... And yes nearly everyone appears in this book. I love that so much. This huge family cohesion 🥰 I love it so much when we readers can see all our friends for a looooong time and don't have to say goodbye after a few books.
I'm now so excited for the next book. I already had my idea about who could be next and when I read the epilog I knew I was right 🤩
First, let me get it out of the way by saying that this was my first foray into Vines' writing and all I can think about is that I'm so freaking lucky I have her backlog to look forward to as well as the rest of the Wild Mountain Scots series.
WOW! What a gem this book turned out to be. I'll be honest and admit that going into it, I wasn't expecting much but that is mostly due to a run of less than stellar books from new to me authors. But I was oh so pleasantly surprised, I simply can't contain my happiness over how much I loved Obsessed!
Lochie and Cait were absolutely amazing together, their chemistry palpable and their connection undeniable. The way the 'started' was absolutely *chef's kiss*. Although I'll admit that at first I was not really connected with Cait but she turned out to be a badass and I loved her tenacity.
Lochie was probably all my hot Scots fantasies rolled into one. *fans self* He was absolutely delicious and so so alpha and you couldn't help but fall for him and his little girl!
This book was a romance suspense and it was so gripping that I ended up staying awake until 4am to finish it because I simply couldn't put it down. Now I'm looking forward to going back to the beginning and reading the parents' stories as well as the cousins' ones and I'SO looking forward to Cameron's story!!!!

If you are a fan of JOLIE VINES you should dive into this book!! OMIGOSH!! This book kept me on my toes, I started in the afternoon and did not put it down until the wee hours of this morning!! I will nap later! LOL
Like all of Ms. Vines books her characters are real, strong, not to mention gorgeous!! The female characters are portrayed the best, because they too are strong and opinionated. In this story Cait is afraid of the strange happenings in her life but does not stand down from figuring things out. She is a fighter like the rest of the McRaes!!!
Lochie is so VERY Scottish!! The scene at the end of chapter 7 gave me a hot flash that lasted through the entire book.
I am looking forward to Cameron’s story next! Thank you Jolie, for bringing us all into the this huge, warm, and loving family!!!
This is book one in the Wild Mountain Scots series. This series starts off with Lochie, he is a single father on the run with his six year old daughter, Isla. He has a six month contract to work as the lead for the mountain rescue service. This new position includes living arrangements with a neighbour to watch over his daughter when he is late or gets a call out. Cait is a single woman that has accepted her relationship issues and plans to move forward to having a child on her own with the help of the fertility clinic. She is one of many in the McRae family which gives family gathering updates along the way. Cait and Lochie each have unique pasts that make for some interesting challenges in their present. I loved this story, I was hooked once I started this book. I look forward to reading more, I cannot wait for Cam and Elise's story next. Enjoy!
This book will make you want to travel to Scotland and find your own mountain man. Cait knows all about obsessions it's what brought her into the world. She doesn't have any interest in men or dating but she has still gotten the attention of someone who doesn't seem to take no well. This is how she meets the new neighbor while removing the vandalism from said guy off her front door. Lochie will do anything to protect his daughter. Even moving, changing their names, and hiding in the rolling hillsof Scotland. When he see his new neighbor scrubing the offensive word off her door his protective instincts kick in. And this can come off as slightly rude. They don't start off at the best of ways but they have to get past it since she will help watch his little girl while he gets called away for work (with her family as a rescue team). Then the impossible happens, Cait become attracted to him. And the feeling is mutual. They know it won't lead to anything since he leaves again in 6 months. And she is planning to have a baby through a fertility clinic and doesn't want/need a man... But then the past is there to haunt them. But who's? Will Cait's fear of obsession get in the way of a possible future or will Lochie's need to flee before it can develop into more? This will keep you guessing. You will fall for these characters and this family. I will watch for more of the series to see what else happens. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Am I the only one who think cait has one track mind? At first it was just baby baby baby thn it was all lochie. I mean she's not total narcissist and all but whenever people are at danger she only concern about lochie and no one else. Even though others are her own family. I kinda didn't feel her asexuality that deep. Overall this book is eh. Don't wanna think more.
