Very helpful.

Helped me see my blind spots in trading. Will recommend to even non traders. It helps to understand the inner working of mind, why we do things in a particular way.

Decent book for mental fortitude, but I think there was to much rehash of same principles spread over multiple chapters. Same idea's and techniques could have been told and explained in maybe one third of chapters.

Very well put together. Like how Dr. Gary Dayton relating the mindfulness performance to our trading performance. In fact, they are very true in many aspects, whether we like it or not "Emotion Hijack" are real. The first step to fixing it is being aware of it and getting on to our High-Value Activity / Action that matters most at hand. If you have read other mindfulness books, consider this a mindfulness putting into action for traders.

Save for the title, the book turned out to be a max surprise.

Very well written with clearly spelt out principles and the whys. It provides excellent frameworks for one to work on (over a lifetime).

This is definitely going to be one of the few classic must read in years to come. ( i think it is more actionable than Mark Douglas' books)

Of the 3 areas needed for successful trading, this book definitely fits one of them (i.e. the mind aspect)

**"Trade Mindfully" by Gary Dayton** is an insightful and practical guide for traders who seek to improve their performance by integrating mindfulness and psychological principles into their trading routines. The book stands out for its unique approach, blending traditional trading strategies with modern psychological techniques to help traders gain a mental edge.

Dayton, a clinical psychologist and experienced trader, brings a wealth of knowledge from both fields, making this book an invaluable resource for traders of all levels. His central premise is that mindfulness—being fully present and aware of one’s thoughts, emotions, and actions—can significantly enhance trading performance by reducing impulsive decisions and fostering a more disciplined approach.

The book is structured to gradually introduce traders to mindfulness practices, starting with basic concepts and progressively moving to more advanced techniques. Dayton emphasizes the importance of self-awareness, emotional regulation, and cognitive control, all of which are crucial for maintaining focus and making rational trading decisions under pressure.

One of the standout features of "Trade Mindfully" is its practical exercises and real-world examples. Dayton provides numerous mindfulness exercises tailored specifically for traders, along with case studies that illustrate how these practices can be applied in various trading scenarios. This hands-on approach makes the book not only informative but also actionable.

In addition to mindfulness, Dayton explores other psychological aspects that affect trading performance, such as cognitive biases, stress management, and the development of a positive trading mindset. He offers strategies to identify and overcome common mental pitfalls, helping traders build resilience and confidence.

While the book is highly beneficial, it requires a commitment to practicing the techniques regularly. Some readers may find the mindfulness exercises challenging at first, especially if they are new to the concept. However, Dayton’s clear explanations and step-by-step guidance make the process more accessible.

Overall, "Trade Mindfully" is a must-read for traders who want to enhance their mental game and achieve consistent results. Gary Dayton’s blend of mindfulness and psychology offers a fresh perspective on trading, providing tools to not only improve performance but also enjoy a more balanced and fulfilling trading experience.

I really enjoyed this book a lot. I don't think any single book will make you a profitable trader, but the more content like this that you can absorb the better off you'll be. The fact is, the traders who seem to make the the most are the ones who need the money the least. Why is that? In my opinion it's because of the vastly different mentality they have towards trading. They experience gains and losses very differently from a trader who needs money to pay bills immediately. Being able to recognize where you are on the spectrum can help mentally prepare you for handling the ups and downs of trading.

This book is a must-read for traders. Doesn't even matter if you are a trader, just replace the stock market lingo with whatever industry you are in. Gary Dayton talks about a lot of great ways to achieve mindfulness and the benefits of mindfulness.

I couldn't correlate the mindful tactics with trading. I have no doubt that meditation helps, but this was not what I expected.

Its not a book that will teach you trading strategies..

Its a book that will teach you the mental part of your trading..

How to avoid cognitive biases like mental shortcuts in reading stock charts..Leaving money on the table..Not cutting losses..

Most importantly, the book also teaches you how to defuse from the trading situation.. by looking at the picture from a distance so that your head is clear of emotional distractions..

The book reminds that discipline, diligence and decisiveness are qualities a trader must have to last long in this game..

"This book is such a great read for traders who suffer from holding their losers too long and selling their winners too soon. Dayton explains the psychology of trading and why traders have impulses that cause them to make these mistakes. By being mindful of this process, it becomes easier to overcome it. "
