Welcome to Wicked, the paranormal sixth borough of New York.

The end is near. Detective Danielle DeMarco is challenged with her most intense case yet, and along with it, she inherits a host of personal problems. When a sorcerer is found dead in The Emporium, a spell shop brimming with magical potions, elixirs, and tinctures, Dani and her new tagalong, Primrose, are on the case.

However, work turns personal when someone close to Dani is poisoned. To make matters worse, another of Detective DeMarco’s closest friends vanishes, her boyfriend is hiding something, and there is a new threat to the borough more dangerous than any in history.

For Dani, it’s no longer about simply wrapping up any single case. If she doesn’t find out what’s going on behind the scenes—and fast—there will be no more Wicked to defend.

Wicked Twist of Fates
By Gina LaManna
This has Val's rookie partner coming into her power and boy is it something! Lots of odd but interesting side business. Someone appears to have poisoned a bartender. More Hex files found! A wild ending to the book! Read this series in order to get the most out of them!

Something is wicked in Wicked.

It's back to the borough for a little mystery. Maybe not so little. So much is happening. Dani is dealing with issues in her personal life. The Hex Files. A new murder case. And things seem to be imploding around her.

This is definitely not a stand-alone book. You definitely want to read the series in order. Each book weaves the intricate web of intrigue and danger around Dani's life, both personal and professional. This book is no exception. Except, we are nearing the end. The web is getting tighter and tighter.

We learn of an ancient bloodline long since thought extinguished still lives on just not as anyone expects. The evil behind the scenes makes seemingly unrelated events into much more. You're going to want some tissues handy. The resolution to the primary mystery in this one will break your heart.

We get to see our favorites: Dani, Matthew, Grey, Willa, Nash, Rob, Chief Newton, Lily, Ainsley, Primrose, Sienna, Ursula, Poppy, as well as some new folks. We get a visit to both The Isle AND MAGIC Inc. And of course, Dani's magical talking furniture.

Where will book 7 take us? Because right now, I'm still recovering from this one. And I did not see that ending coming.

Like I said, tissues. You'll want them.

I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

BOOOMMMM!!! (my thought after finishing the book!)

Dani and assistant Primrose are called to a murder at The Emporium. Matthew is still in New York and Dani gets more and more uncomfortable with the state of their relationship. What is Matthew hiding from her? The murder leads Dani and Primrose to The Isle, important things come to light (especially about Primrose - I would not mind a series about her!). Prepare yourself for anger and heartbreak.

We are almost at the finale and it shows. I can't wait for the last book! I am absolutely convinced Gina will make it all-right again and save the Borough and all we love.

*** I received an ARC but this is my honest and voluntary review. I have also bought my own copy. ***

***I received an ARC of the book from the author in exchange for my honest review

In book 6 of the Mysteries From the Sixth Borough, a sorcerer from The Emporium is found murdered and Dani and Primrose go undercover to try to find out what is going on. They get more than they bargained for: a poisoning, a necklace with a rare flower meant to tame dragons, an army of new vampires, and the death of someone very close to Dani.
This book was so good I read it in almost one sitting. I just didn't want to put it down. Now I am chomping at the bit for the next book in the series. If you haven't read these books before, and you enjoy books about witches, sorcerers, vampires, and all things magic then you will love these books. They are addictive.

3 1/2 stars. I've missed the Six Borough and all the characters. It's so good they are back. This had the feel of a big build up for the next book which is the last. I think the mystery suffered a little because of this. It didn't feel as well crafted.

Oh, Dani. She took lot of hits in this book. Her supports were being pulled from her one by one and people she cared about were hurt.

This is a great series. I love Dani's furniture and her best friend. I will definitely be reading the last in this series and revisiting the others book in the future.

Wow! These books get better w/each one leading to the ultimate one.
Unfortunately, like many similar series, it will eventually conclude.. I've been enjoying it so it's a bummer but understandable. And with this book (#6), i now have my theories about the ending.
This book had a cross-over with her other series-"Magic & Mixology" which was cool. (Ainsley is featured) I think the 2 worlds will be interconnected. It was great to see those characters again. I'm glad i read that series, but you're not too lost if you haven't.
I've done all the previous books in audiobook format so this was the first one i read. It moved a little slow in the beginning but after chapter 3, the pace quickens & hold on. I couldn't put it down.

This book has Matthew very busy in NYC working as a commander there. Dani is dealing with the developments from the previous book as well as her deeper feelings for Grey.
Very interesting mystery surrounding the bartender at the Emporium.
Lots of surprises & twists. Some shocking, some cool. Awesome twist with Primrose. And goodness, that ending. Whoa!

One of the things I like is that while there is a light romantic triangle, Dani has made her choice and the characters deal with it. there's no "which will she choose?" that happens in other stories. There's respect & warm friendship with the choices.

Thank you to the writer for sending me an ARC fo this. I truly, truly enjoyed it & can't wait for the next installment in the series.

Also, I misspelled DeMarco. I’ve listened to them as audiobooks, not seeing spelling as I go along. Sorry, Dani!

I liked this one least. Dani has gotten repetitive, and she is always “unaware” of her surroundings due to emotional upheaval. There is much more overwrought emotional drama than action or storyline. I mean, really. Before book Matthew was willing to throw everything away—society can burn!— to take Dani and be safe together. Now he’s soooo busy not telling her anything whilst running the NYPD that they never even say hello? Ummm

The forced emotional drama and “I didn’t do it on purpose” moments are wearing on me. I quite like this author, but the past two books bogged me down. The drama seemed more struggling YA than fun and zippy heroine.

We know Matthew will be back. I repeat: I like laughing, kind Grey better

Dammit – I’m so ready but not ready for the finale in this series 😭 I always fall back on Gina’s magical books because they’ve never let me down. Wicked Twist of Fate continues that trend – I didn’t want to put it down, even for much-needed sleep. If you need a magical escape than look no further than this series – it is a series to be read in order though if you’re thinking about starting it.

Dani, Matthew, and Grey have somewhat come to an understanding and straightened out their triangle into a semblance of working order. I am so happy to see Primrose return – she is like a work version of Willa and someone Dani needs, even if she doesn’t realize it. There were several character developments that I would have never suspected from the ending of Wicked All the Way. We do see some guest appearances from characters of The Magic in Mixology and MAGIC, Inc. Mysteries. We get a little bit of progression with the Hex Files but only that two more files reveal two more names. This book was probably the most shocking in the series – especially the events that hit Dani the hardest.

One of the most random things to say in a review if you’ve never read this series but… I love Dani’s furniture. Their comments never fail to make me laugh out loud at least once each book.

I can’t wait to see where Dani’s path leads her in the final book even though I’m not ready for it to come to a close. There are two areas that could hold potential for new books that would be a little different that I would love to read about. One is Grey and the Elderwolves while the other is the Dead Lands and necromancers – both of these would be intriguing as not much is known about them from the series itself. A huge thank you to Gina for the opportunity to read and review Wicked Twist of Fate, the sixth installment of the Mysteries from the Sixth Borough series – all opinions are my own.

So it has been a while since we have met in with Detective Danielle DeMarco and the Hex Files, and things are progressing as they are written, Dani has to decide whether to tell another friend that she is named in the Hex Files, she is juggling this along with her Vampire boyfriend Captain Matthew King who is currently working an assignment in true New York doing who knows what and there is an unusual murder in the strange market place that is the Emporium and Dani was there just the night before.... coincidence? Dani and Primrose are on the case. What secrets can they get from a business that itself is shrouded in secrets and spells!

Things are coming to a conclusion, rapidly. Part of me wants the ending nearly as much as Dani however the other part of me knows that with the end of the Hex Files it could be the end of this truly wonderful series.

Gina LaManna has a great imagination the storyline is vivid with some amazing characters, characters who I have come to care for a great deal, there is a visit to a certain magic island with a guest appearance (very briefly) of a certain Ranger and Mixologist, It is cleverly done with no knowledge of the Isle required but a subtle nod for fans.

I highly recommend this series it is so immersive and entertaining. I would recommend starting from book 1 (Wicked Never Sleeps) so you can come to understand New York's Sixth Borough. If you have not already done so. Then once finished this book and whilst waiting for the finale of the Hex Files, if you have not already I would jump on in to The Isle. (Magic & Mixology - Hex on the Beach)

Misty's Corner Review :
Hold up, wait a minute, what?! I NEED to read book 7, like NOW!! "The Hex Files: Wicked Twist of Fate" is book 6 of 7 in Gina LaManna's series, "Mysteries from the Sixth Borough"! I can't believe this series is coming to an end! I was first introduced to Gina LaManna by means of her "Magic & Mixology Mystery Series", starting with "Hex on the Beach". I raced through those six in a hot second and did the same with this series once I found out that it was a spin-off! I loved getting lost in the mysteries of 'The Isle' and 'The Sixth Borough'. Gina LaManna is one to watch and NEVER fails to capture my attention, grabbing hold without letting go until the bittersweet end!

The book's blurb pretty much says it all without giving away any of the wild twists and turns that this tale takes us on! I laughed and I cried, I cried alright. This one had all of the feels, light, and engrossing yet entertaining all the same! I finished this in less than a day because I just could not put it down!

Many thanks go to the author, Gina LaManna, for providing me a complimentary copy of this title in exchange for my honest review! Side note, Gina, October 30, 2020, is too long to wait for book SEVEN: "The Hex Files: Wicked Ever After"! I am beyond excited for this! I'd recommend this to fans of JD Robb, Janet Evanovich, and J.K. Rowling! LaManna's style is right on point! Order now on Amazon or check it out on Kindle Unlimited!

Thanks for reading!

I don’t even know how to rate this book. They are things about it that loved, but they also things about it that I t hated.

I loved that Danny broke up with Matthew. I’m sorry to say I love Matthew, but he seem to be available for everyone except her and she needed to come to terms with certain things on her own.

Also, I love that love triangle. It’s not really a love triangle because she knew from the very beginning who she was gonna end up and she talked to him , and even though he has been with her through thick and thing, she still faithful to her feelings.

Quick question what is so badass about their heroine?

I hated the fact that somehow Matthew knowingly put Gray and Danny in a situation that they were too close and that was just not fair to Gray.

I also hated that when they the potion for clarity, she blame Gray for whatever came into her mind. You need to take responsibility for your actions. They were said they were certain things that I know were coming, and that usually doesn’t happen, but I didn’t know the death at the end.

I have to say that author Made situations that impact me very much and I had a lot of feelings about this book which is good because now I am looking forward to the next installment and I was ready to give up.

I’m looking forward to the next one.

And the plot thickens. There's trouble in paradise. Not only is Dani (the Protagonist) struggling with her relationship with Matthew, she is also having somewhat of a identity crisis. Having some self-doubt about things, and it's all bringing her down a bit. Things are happening with several of her friends and there is not much she can do about it. There is a lot going on in this book. Several different cases she is working on, and she doesn't have Matthew there to lean on. While the main mystery is solved in this book, there is an underlying mystery that runs through all the books in the series, and I would suggest reading them in order to follow along. This one also ends with lots of questions, and there is only one book left in the series in which things (I assume) will all come together. It also has a little more heart felt emotion than the others had. All the regular characters are there, plus a few new ones. All unique. There is no sexual content and only some mild violence (and what there is of that, is all in the form of magic.) It is a busy book and reads smoothly and easily. Written from one POV (Dani's.)

Each book in this series is impossible to put down once you start and this one is even faster paced with more action, emotion and mental tormoil than even the others, if that is at all possible! Dani DeMarco is faced with a murder to solve that leaves no visible clues. Along with her wanna-be partner, Primrose they set out to find out who murdered Collin and what is bronze valerian and how is it attached to anything? Who is the next hex file name? What is strange about Primrose? Why is Grey so interested? What does Emmy the head sorceror of the emporium have to do with anything? What is Matthew hiding from Dani and how does their relationship survive if he is in NYC for so long? What could be happening to the city and to the sixth borough? There are some very emotional moments in this one so be prepared! Since there is one more to this series, I can't imagine what is going to happen next since there are some questions that could be resolved! I Love this series! It is well written and very descriptive. This whole series is a winner! I received an ARC from the author BUT the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Ahhhh where to begin in a book that ends in such a catastrophic way?

Dani is even more frustrated in her relationship at the start of this book - Matthew continues to be an almost new character, hiding things, being distant, putting the job first, etc. Primrose is the new Willa until even crazier developments pull her away. We spend a lot of time learning about a new place - the Emporium, which is a magical bar filled with potions and secrets. We dive deep into that world because of a murder and because the plot needs us to know about it. I found this book pretty frustrating if my review so far did not convey that.

With all of the parts moving around, I thought we’d feel like things are going to be wrapping up, but instead it feels messier than usual. Her older brother’s reveal also felt SUPER forced and made up for plot purposes. All the characters I’ve grown to love seem so different when I just want them to be familiar. I guess this book accomplished what it most wanted to - put us ill at ease with the coming showdown. Nobody is safe, we still don’t know who the big bad is, and very bad things are afoot.

Fantastic magical series.

Dani has a new name to add to the Hex files.

She and Matthew aren't spending much time together, as he is temporary NYPD captain in New York city. He can't tell her what he's working on, and the tension between them grows.

A young sorcerer named Collin is murdered, and he may have been working on something nefarious. So is he the victim or the perpetrator of the scheme?

Matthew finally reveals the subject of his investigation, and the implications are more horrifying than anyone could imagine.

Dani will need all her strength to get through this one!

I got very emotional at the ending. I've grown to love these characters. Can't wait for the next book in October, though I will miss them when the series ends.

Wicked Twist Of Fate is the sixth and penultimate book in this Hex Files series. It is exciting, thrilling, shocking and gripping; a literal emotional rollercoaster. There is plenty of new action, meeting up with old companions (from the Isles) and twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

Dani, our intrepid police officer and heroine, us yet again solving crimes as well as the underlying mystery of the Hex Files and the prophecy they contain.

This book would not be suitable to read as a stand alone, as this is a richly woven plot across the series and too much has been missed in the first 5 Hex Files books.

I can’t wait to read the last Hex Files book!

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Shocking ending!

Wicked Twist Of Fate has been a wild and emotional ride. This is the 6th book in the Hex Files series, and Gina LaManna has really pulled out all the stops with this one. No spoilers here, but WOW. It’s full of twists and turns. Our protagonist Dani is remarkable as she handles everything that is wildly thrown her way.

This book would not be suitable to read as a stand alone. There’s too much that’s been missed in the first 5 Hex Files books. We get to peek in on some of our friends from The Isle in this book.

I can’t wait to read the last Hex Files book!

Another great book in this series. If you enjoy magic and mysteries you've come to the right place. Start at the beginning so you understand all the main characters, their interactions and the tone of this book. The 6th is full of twists, surprises and unfortunate events.

Looking forward to 7, the series finale. Can only imagine what Ms. LaManna has in store for us. I'm sure she will not let us down...

Check out her other mystical series, Magic and Mixology and Magic Inc.

This book had me on the edge of my seat. I can't even tell you how many times I cried in this book. I felt everything Dani felt. I think this book was one for the books in pulling those heartstrings. Dani has a lot of different things going on in this book you don't even know if she is going to be able to pull together who killed the guy. It was nice to see she visited two of our favorite places and people. That was a nice surprise. I can't even with the end. All the feelings were poured out at the end. I am sad that the next book is the end. I don't know where I want Dani to end up at. I know she is going to have to work hard to move on with her whole life at this point.

WOW! I was definitely not ready for this book to end! What a page-tuner! The supporting characters are all exceptional in their own ways, and very much needed by the main character of Dani, even if she won’t admit it. She is a strong, independent police officer who wants to depend on only herself. The setting of New York (yet NOT New York) is an amazing idea. There are several strong storylines, but the main one is just fascinating. The paranormal aspects of this series are extremely thought-provoking! I’m going to have a hard time waiting for the conclusion to this series!

six books in and still awesome

The plot and progression continue to drive the characters towards a conclusion.

With evil forces massing at the mortal side of the six boroughs, someone needs to watch over them.

With Captain King doing his best to protect the city, while Dani does the same, things get rocky.

The evil seems to be too present in this six book of the series and the good face too many challenges.

A little clarity isn’t all you can get at the Emporium and yet, what they do get never seems to be what they need

Fantastic

Oh my word Gina LaManna sure knows how to keep you page turning. I hope everyone has read Books 1-5 of the Hex Files so you get to know and love these characters Gina spots out with her own type of magic. The love and the mystery in between the pages of these books are spell binding.
Gina LaManna you could not have shocked me more then you did in this book. Excellent writing and I can't wait until the final book comes out and you put Wicked to sleep!

The twists are tremendous!

You’ll want to keep reading to the end of this book because there’s just so much going on in Detective DeMarco’s life and the twists will just keep you turning the pages. New characters are introduced and folks from The Isle are brought into the story. You just never know what’s next. And that’s all I can say without dropping major spoilers!

What the what?!?!

I just finished the book, and I'm in a state of shock. How? Why? Dani's life is in shambles and it just keeps getting worse. And not to spoil anything, but I'm so saddddddd about Matthew King. 😢. I'm thankful we don't have to wait too long for the next book, because I don't think I could. What a rollercoaster! That was a page turner, nicely done!!👏

I’m not going to discuss spoilers because this one is too big. It’s a great book in this series and had me on edge the whole time. First book to make me shed a tear, and I’ve read a lot of books.

Another amazing read of the Sixth Borough. I just love this series and Dani DeMarco. Sheis everything every little girl should aspire to be. She is bold, tough, but soft-hearted and loves and protects the ones she cares for with everything. I was so heartbroken at the end of the ebook but I have no doubt we will understand in the next one.

This book was worth the wait!! What a ride! A bit like a ride on a wild magic carpet! I love meeting Madison, what a gal! Every twist & turn had me holding my breath or gasping out loud! And the new development with the new NYPD chief is exciting. I can't wait to read the next book to see how everything turns out!! #TeamGrey :)

Well ... that made me cry :(

Argh. I really suck at this stuff. I’m not one of those book report type people (but I love reading them!); I’m a full on emotions type girl. Grab me with a story and Hit me in the feels ...

Well this one certainly did. Even though it was tempered by, shall we say distance, it still had me tear up over imaginary friends.
