I picked this up at random when looking for an indie romantic fantasy read with atypical people. An ogress sounded fun. The editing and formatting are well done.

The magic system is softer than I would have liked, and it's definitely a romance as opposed to romantic fantasy, because the fantasy plot is not the main focus. I was *not* prepared for the level of spice/smut in the book. I suppose I should have read more into the back cover blurb... I'm not a huge fan of open-door scenes, and this has plenty of it. (So if that's your thing, then that would be a plus, lol)

At times, the themes were a bit heavy-handed, and at other times, the themes of self-acceptance and her relationship with her stepfather were a bit hazy, and the implications uncomfortable...

The plot twist regarding her curse was a good one, even if the final resolution still has me raising an eyebrow.

Transmogrification is a theme I enjoy and this book explores 2 sides of being female. I think that there’s a cat involved too and I would like to read the next book too.
