The spores are spreading across the country, and as America reckons with its new future, a spark of hope must be nurtured before it is snuffed out altogether.
Tired of the usual post-apocalyptic tale? Welcome to your new addiction.
SPORE is a new, thrilling post-apocalyptic survival saga from #1 best-selling authors Mike Kraus and Kenny Soward.
A billion acres of food have been wiped off the map overnight.
A mysterious illness, somehow connected to America's agriculture collapse, tears through the country - and the world - like a hot knife through butter, killing millions as it spreads.
Pockets of survivors are forced to trek west, seeking shelter and food as they fight against the disease that lives in the air and soil around them.
As death and destruction spread and the country collapses in upon itself, those left behind will be forced to work together to survive, lest they be consumed by the spores.
Welcome to my little space out on the web. I'm Kenny Soward, and I'm an author, musician, and once IT guy. I write books in many sub-genres of Science Fiction and Fantasy, including post-apocalyptic, military science fiction, epic fantasy, and horror. I'm influenced by authors such as Stephen King, George R. R. Martin, Anne Rice, J.K. Rowling, Mark Lawrence, Dan Simmons, Robin Hobb, Robert McCammon, Larry Correia, and Mike Kraus.
I love all kinds of movies and shows from Battle Star Galactica (reboot) to the Walking Dead. There's nothing I won't try.
I grew up in Kentucky in a small suburb just south of Cincinnati, Ohio, listening to hard rock and playing outdoors. In those quiet 1970's streets, I jumped bikes, played Nerf football, and came away with many scars.
My grandfather and many of my uncles and cousins served in the United States Military, and my father was a Kentucky State Trooper. Their efforts taught me the meaning of sacrifice and gratitude. I've always had an avid curiosity about the world around me, and I hope my enthusiasm for life carries over into my stories, even the dark ones.
I generally like this series. It's very timely, I'll give them that. But I can't get over being mad that the writers had the Army infringe on sovereign native American territory. I mean come on, it's the end of the freakin world, there is the entire Western US out there, and they had to write the Army taking over an native town? After all they have been through at the hands of the U.S. Government and now the Navajos can't just experience the end of times without the Army showing up and flipping off their sovereignty?? I know I'm supposed to suspend my intelligence and be mad at the fictional Army, but I hold the authors' to account for writing this insensitivity. It's hard to enjoy the rest of the book when being mad about this every few chapters. It's insensitive to their religion to have all those dead souls floating around their town too - this aspect should at least be mentioned - it would horrify them.
Kenny Spears and Mike Kraus' second book in the SPORE Series is CHOKE, that continues the fascinatingly, shockingly-possible saga, about a deadly viral infection spread globally, from a completely unpredictable source.
Survivalists and ordinary citizens, wealthy, poor, privileged and underdogs, soldiers and civilians - none are safe from the silent killer - or are they?
Get your copy of CHOKE - and be warned, despite being an imaginary futuristic scenario, Mike Kraus and Kenny Soward's increasingly tense second novel, will resonate all too terrifyingly with millions of us, world-wide, right now, due to the similarly deadly Covid-19 and all-too-real pandemic, that we are all trying to save ourselves and our loved ones from, at any cost.
Book 2, CHOKE is a vibrant, exciting and dynamic read. There is something potentially life threatening on almost every page. It’s a story that has you jumping out of your chair and getting caught up in fight or flight! A fungus spore driven apocalypse is bad enough but factor in all those who believe surviving means killing and worse. It’s a fantastic series that should not be missed!
This continues to be a good series. I do have to question Bishop's decision to bring a woman who was shooting at him into his home until she woke up. You can maintain your humanity without endangering yourself and your kids like that. The evil army guys also seem to be a bit formulaic and Burke running around Ohio seems puzzling. I do look forward to the next book to see what unfolds.
The series is great. Very different and cleaver can't wait for September to get the third book in the series. People are dyeing because of the spores in the air. will they get a cure in time to save their friend????
This series is pretty good. The excitement and characters, with the my love of biological. YES I need more of these. Definitely a great break from zombies. Keep this coming.
Another great in this series. You can’t stop reading once you start. You’re totally caught up with the characters and their survival, wishing you could help. Don’t miss out.
The adventures keep on coming as well as dangers. Each setting has its own set of problems or amount of hope to keep up the fight, for both evil and good.
Miles better than the first one. Though there are so many bad guys, idk about that yet. It probably makes sense, but I am more of an overarching enemy kinda gal. We will see how they shape up.
