Sei spent fifteen years burying the past. A year ago, her daughter started digging it up.
Mui returns to Confrere Preparatory Academy and is determined to decipher more of the riddles in the mysterious book. She struggles with the idea of keeping the book a secret from the Bibliokeepers, the ones responsible for creating it. Their help could unearth more truths about Mui’s family, specifically the father she's never met. Little does Mui know, deadly forces are attacking the Bibliokeepers, putting their survival—and their knowledge—at stake. To make matters worse, a dark enemy has surfaced. Will he put an end to Mui and her mother?
Pick up book two in this gripping Mui thriller series. You can’t help but root for the assassin’s daughter.
Ty Hutchinson is a USA Today bestselling author who writes dark, high-concept thrillers that punch hard and don't let up.
A full-time nomad since 2013, he blends real-world detail with twisted imagination to deliver binge-worthy stories—where the rules are bent, the stakes are high, and the exits are never marked.
Living everywhere and nowhere, he's drawn to strange things and peculiar people—almost always leading to one question: what if?
Excellent as usual! Ty Hutchinson's character of Mui is always action packed and moves along! The underlying theme of the Bibliokeeprs add another dimension to our story! The relationship that Mui has with Nanuli, Ryan, Abby and Mother Sei, are always at the crux of her actions! She is torn in finding out the true nature of her Father and seeks to know him. As a Sophomore bringing her Archery Team to "States" is very plausible as well. Mui's athletic and Assassin skills moves the story of intrigue, discovery, patients and in some instances to her detriment at a fast pace. Remembering at her age the decisions made on occasion will lead us to haste, as well as over thinking our own abilities in situations! Then a true happening brings us to where we need to be. You will love Mui as she grows and matures. I am waiting her transformation through High School and beyond as this character will never grow stale or lack for a story line! My Friend, Ty Hutchinson, another great addition to the reading world!!! 5 Stars for sure!
All of Ty Hutchinson's book are awesome but this one is the best yet. Mui has a much stronger voice but it's definitely still an adult book. Abby and Sei are definitely there but the teenagers are front and center. It works really well and leaves you wanting more.
First half of the book is a slow burn but the last half is absolutely frenetic. Great storytelling. A little difficult to believe if you don't know anything about Mui's past so it would be more enjoyable to read it after the first five books of the Sei series. That provides more context for her street smarts and training at such a young age. Ready to start the next of the series.
While on a quest to decipher some hidden information, Mui finds herself in trouble when her Mother's past comes back to haunt her. While trying to understand the hidden message she climbs the outside of the Tranamerica building in San Francisco. She also gets in trouble with the Russian mob.
I became interested in the Sri series and then have continued on following along with the adventures of Mui. Cannot wait corvette next book in the series. Hutchinson does not disappoint.
Ty does not disappoint! I have been a fan since “The Perfect Plan.” This Book is another thrilling read from Ty! Mui is always involved in some sort of shenanigans that gets her in trouble. I was captivated from beginning to end. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
This book kept me wanting more, however, there were plenty of times that the detail was overdone. Who cares how the table was set? It had zero to do with the story, etc. Nevertheless I am purchasing the next book in the series.
You don’t need the book to cause vengeance. A few people who think they are entitled is sufficient. Mui is more like Sei then she thinks. I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
Muni just can’t leave well enough alone!! Always getting into trouble. This was another great Mui story. Kept it going on thrill and adventure till the end.
These books are still very YA with some areas of the story that could have been more fleshed out for a deeper narrative, but the writing is getting better with each book!
