Four and a half stars

First Response is the fifth Boys Behaving Badly anthology curated by Delilah Devlin. It's one excellent collection of hot reads!

FAR FROM OVER by Reina Torres ////
Russell Webb is rescued by the beautiful and formidable Gina Ferrer. A fellow firefighter, he's wanted her since they were in training. But it isn't until his life flashed before his eyes that he determines to do something about it. Ms Torres's story is exciting and gripping.

SHELTERING CHARLOTTE by Elle James ////
Logan Mitchell's loved Charlotte forever, but she'd gone off and married someone else. Now she's divorced and back in Hellfire, and determined to guard herself from future pain and harm. Good thing Logan is a patient and considerate man. And when a storm sweeps into town, it ignites a storm of a different kind for this couple. Part of Ms James's Hellfire series, this story stands well alone.

THE SIREN'S SONG by Ava Cuvay ////
Lorlii Atarga owns The Siren's Song, a bar that caters to a wide audience, including her BFF Roark Trekker, aka "Raging Roark", Captain of Sigma-9 Spaceport's Fire Force. She's also madly in love with him, not that she'd ever admit that. When he confronts her shifty bar manager attacking her, that changes the course of their future interactions for good. Ms Cuvay's story is a terrific scifi take on the theme.

FIRE IN THE STORM by Payton Harlie ///
Kevin Trask, a fire rescue worker, and Kandi Reynolds, a retired Marine and now owner of a vacation rental, are stranded together during a hurricane. For two people who'd determinedly not been looking for anything longer term, this might be the start to something a little more permanent. Ms Harlie's story is quick and satisfying.

CLAIMING LYLA by Megan Ryder ////
Lyla Chatham's literally fleeing multiple pursuers who are intent on claiming her as their mate, pursuers her worthless brother has allowed this privilege. Duncan Taggart is on a Council mission to investigate some reports of wrongdoing by local packs. What he hadn't expected to find was his mate. Ms Ryder's story is a page turner.

OVER THE EDGE by N.J. Walters ////
Mariah Mills and Jack Morgan have been separated for a year. When she ends up on a work retreat at the lodge Jack's working at, Jack doesn't intend to waste this chance to try to repair what he'd let go wrong. A lovely second-chance story by Ms Walters.

SAVE ME TWICE by Jaap Boekestein ///
Amanda's marketing firm receives a swag package from one of the authors they promote. Her newest BDSM romance involves handcuffs so her coworkers have a blast cuffing themselves and each other to everything under the sun at the office. Amanda carefully avoids the play until she can't. And of course, the key goes astray. Xander, a welding artist who works in the building, is asked to come to the rescue. And not only does he free her from the cuffs, he proceeds to blow her tightly held preconceptions about restraint to kingdom come. A hot little intro to the BDSM life.

SAVING TIME by Kimberly Dean ///
Everly is a scientist working on a portable time-travel unit. Devlin is a time marshal, tasked with rescuing and tracking down those who get lost in time. When an unexpected accident happens, it might give Everly and Devlin the perfect opportunity at the perfect time. Enjoyed this creative take on the theme by Ms Dean.

FALLING OFF THE SINGLE TRUCK by Tray Ellis ///
Emma is a hardcore biker who often ends up riding by herself because her friends tend to prefer other activities in their spare time. When a bad fall puts her in fellow biker Danny's sights, she realizes that might have been the best ride ever. A fast, fun read.

THE $5.00 KISS OF LIFE by Michal Scott ///
Beverly Reynolds is the minister's daughter and committed to walking the walk and not dishonoring her faith or her parents. Rob Williams is a local firefighter who tempts her beyond rational thought. Not simply his appearance or his beautiful smile, but his easy confidence and the way he draws friends from far and wide. When he appears in the town kissing booth as a fundraiser, it's the perfect opportunity to treat herself to a kiss. Michal Scott's characters are well written and captivating.

DRIVE by M. Jayne ///
Olivia Stern is on the run. Having witnessed and reported a pack crime put her on that pack's radar, and she determines not to drag anyone else into that danger zone. Detective Graham Vincent scents his mate when he's next door, and there is no way he's letting anyone get to her, period. A mate is forever. Intersects with M. Jayne's Novus Pack series, but stands well alone.

BLACKOUT by January George ///
Ruby Ramirez has been avoiding Liam Rygaard for several weeks now. They'd shared a mutual flirtation that led to a date, but some damning suggestions lead Ruby to back off when they might have taken things further. When Liam and Ruby are trapped in their apartment's tiny elevator when the power goes out, the truth comes out... An enjoyable second-chance story.

HANDCUFFS and G-STRINGS by Margay Leah Justice ///
Pierce Rogan and Everly Browning meet at a strip club on the night the police officers are holding a fundraiser. No thanks to Pierce's many brothers in blue (and by blood), Pierce is showing off his (lack of) skills on stage. Their chemistry is scorching hot. And all's well that ends well? A cute read, and I would love seeing Ms Justice tell Pierce's brothers' stories as well!

CROSSING THE LINE by A.C. Dawn ///
Jeff and Kat have been dancing around a scorching shared attraction for years. But he's the captain at the fire station they both work at, and they've been careful not to cross any lines. Until a high-stakes, high-adrenaline situation pushes them both over with a vengeance. Ms Dawn's story is both hot and sweet.

IN THE WILD by Delilah Devlin ////
Martika Mills is on the trail of a particularly troublesome bounty, when an unexpected bison encounter strands her in the middle of nowhere with Caleb McKay, forest ranger. They find some creative ways to stay warm and safe through the night. Connected to Ms Devlin's Montana Bounty Hunters series, but stands well alone.

All in all, a great collection to get your heart racing in the best ways!

I was asked to read First Response: Sheltering Charlotte and that was where a second chance story and it was every emotional and detailed about what happened to the deputy sheriff and lost love. Also Sheltering Charlotte was written about a woman who had lost who she was and need to get herself back together. There was a second chance in this story that was Charlotte need it. Charlotte had an abusive marriage after college. She thought that Luke was going to come for her and he did but found out she was getting married he joined the service. When he came back he heard that Charlotte was back too. He thought he had a second chance.
Charlotte was home after work when something bad was going to happen and she didn't know about it. Luck when to see if she need a ride home when things got worse.
When he got to her house she was running a sander and didn't know what was going on.
I had to keep reading until the end.
Elle made the character wonderful together. I could read this again and still see myself in this story as I read the emotional and tragic things that happen.

I received an ARC of this book, for an unbiased review. I liked it fine. It's an anthology of short little life snippets, you might say. Subjects run the gamut from firemen/women, sheriff's deputy, off planet sci fi, an alien barkeep, shifters, etc. If you don't like descriptive sex scenes, you won't like these stories! Usually the main characters know each other, but not always. I personally don't care for sex between strangers. Thanks to Elle James for sending the ARC. Her story Sheltering Charlotte was sweet. It could have been a romance novel. I like a woman willing to remodel a house on her own!!

This anthology is made up of short stories about “ bad boys”, all First Responders. Men that under their hard exterior, have a soft spot for a woman that either they had a connection years ago, and each went their separate ways, or it’s fairly recent, but neither party has taken the step to make it real.
My favorite was Sheltering Charlotte , by Elle James.
Logan Mitchell, a deputy in Hellfire, TX has been in love with Charlotte from the moment he met her in his teen years. Then she left 10 years ago, got married and left Logan heartbroken. She’s back in town, owns the local diner, but is no longer the same girl. Obvious to him, is that the marriage left her with deep scars.
When a tornado hits town, they find safety in the cellar of her new home. Will they survive the tornado? If so, will they finally get a chance of moving forward together or will each go their separate ways?
Short stories, and/or novellas are not easy to write and many stories suffer when the plot and or the characters are not well developed. This author managed to do both well in just a few pages.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I grabbed this anthology for a few reasons. One, who doesn’t love a bad boy, and to have a bunch of them in one book...I’m definitely in! Secondly, I’m a big Megan Ryder fan, so when I her name, I was doubly excited.
Claiming Lyla is a paranormal romance, but don’t let that stop you if you’re new to the genre. It’s a quick read, but really good...and now I reading every shifter romance I can find! It’s Ryder’s first para story, but I’m hoping it won’t be her last, because it’s very well written and Duncan and Lyla are H. O. T! It’s my favorite story in the anthology.
Half of the writers are new to me and a few stories didn’t capture my attention, to be honest. But you can’t beat the price point, especially if it opens the reader up to a new romance sub genre and/or new author. Overall, 4 stars, but Claiming Lyla on its own gets 5 stars from me.

This anthology is packed with action and with plenty of steam too! I enjoyed most of the stories, some were not my usual genre though, and there were a few editing mistakes throughout.
My favourites were:
Sheltering Charlotte by Elle James
Claiming Lyla by Megan Ryder
Blackout by January George
Handcuffs and G-Strings by Margay Leah Justice
Crossing the Line by A.C. Dawn
Most of these are new to me authors and I will definitely look into finding and reading more by those that really caught my attention.
I received an ARC of this book but the review is entirely of my own opinion and unbiased

I love the variety of stories one finds with First Response. There were two stories I really enjoyed. The first one was Sheltering Charlotte by Elle James and the other one was Saving Time by Kimberly Dean. Both were different but they caught my attention from the beginning until the end of the story. If you only have a few minutes to read a story, such as 20-30 minutes, and want to read something, then I recommend this book. You'll have a lot of stories and authors to pick from.

I received a copy of this book as an ARC for an honest review.

I received an ARC of this book, for an unbiased review. It contained many short novella length books by various authors. Several of the authors I was familiar with and enjoyedthose short stories of the others that I was not familiar with I read and enjoyed them. This is a book that will give you an introduction into a number of different romance types, military, fire, police etc. and into new authors that you have not been read before.

This is a fun steamy set of short reads, and all are supernatural treats. My review is fir Claiming Lyla by Megan Ryder.
I loved this short tease and hope the author plans to expand it at some point. Duncan was a hero and protector with integrity, and I appreciated that. Lyla took a bit if convincing at first, but she let him save her and claim her in a dramatic way!! Wjo can fight fate??? I highly recommend this book.

Short stories of bad boys and the women who fall for them.
I was asked to read Far From Over by Reina Torres.
Webb and Gina had met at the fire academy. They still have unfinished business.
Webb was trapped in the fire and has resigned in himself that he isn't making it out. Gina has different ideas and helps get him free.
Webb shows up at her other workplace. He has to have her. Will she feel the same way at closing time?

This is a great book if you are looking for some new authors. There are 15 short stories about “bad boys” of all kind. A few were really good but some were not to my liking. But it was a great bargain for the price. I am a big fan of Elle James so I did like her story, Sheltering Charlotte. I’m sure every reader will enjoy these stories.

This anthology definitely has “bad boys”. Has very short stories but with the hero showing up right in time. One of the stories was SHELTERING CHARLOTTE by Elle James. True to Ellie’s story telling style she was able to give us a touching and exciting event for Logan and Charlotte to weather, literally! Great reading if you just like want to read short hot stories.

I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. In Far from Over by Reina Torres, we meet Russell and Gina. Russell is currently waiting to br rescued from under a pile of rubble from a fire. Just when he's about to give up hope, Gina and another firefighter find him. Russell and Gina have had a thing for each other since the fire academy. They never did anything about it until now. After his brush with death, Russell decides to see where things go with Gina. This short story has all the feels. Ms.Torres never disappoints. Get this book ASAP. You won't regret it.
