"i didn't believe you when you claimed you brought me to eden, but when your tongue left poison along the nape of my neck, i realised you were right."
eden. is Chalmers' second collection of poetry. The collection centres on nature, in its metaphorical and physical form, and the disdain for how the human race disregards nature and all of its beauty.
Liv Chalmers is a long-term fiction and poetry writer who is currently working on her debut novel.
Starting when she was just thirteen, she now has a 1st class degree in English + Creative Writing. She can often be found reading or rewatching Marvel movies.
If you enjoy her work, please leave a rating and review on Amazon and Goodreads.
Chalmers has dedicated her poetry to the preservation of the earth much like fellow poets, Anne-Adele Wight or Catherine Kyle. Her tone throughout the work though, is far less cynical than Kyle’s. She doesn’t write from a place of exhausted anger, but rather a deep sadness. “love the trees, feed the bees, / write about the blue of the seas,” her work cries out.
This short poetry collection is Liv's second publication, made up of 2 small sections - Genesis and Terminus - filled with poetry about personal and relatable topics with a naturalistic twist. It's a quick and easy read with the use of beautiful imagery throughout, and I'm so grateful and honoured to have a poem in this collection dedicated to me. It really makes me smile every time I read it and it brings back good memories from our days in university together. I hope that one day I can return this beautiful gift with a piece of my own writing dedicated to her.
