Daisy Thorne is closing up her hair salon in the small British village of Edgemead one Saturday when she finds the dead body of one of her clients in the alley behind the shop. Worse yet, Daisy’s scissors are sticking out of the victim’s back. Naturally, suspicion falls on her, so Daisy has to figure out what really happened so she can clear her name. The big question comes down to who had access to steal Daisy’s scissors. Can she figure out who did it?

I enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was looking forward to revisiting the characters. I’m happy to say I found this one just as engaging. Because the action focuses on the salon this time, we get to know her employees better, and I really enjoyed that. The rest of the cast is back, and the suspects are strong. I also appreciated the fact that it is obvious the characters’ lives were progressing between books, a fun change from most series I read. I’m not sure if it was just me, but I did feel like the pacing was a little slow early on, but once the plot really got going, there were more than enough twists and surprises to make up for that. The climax was wonderful and kept those twists coming. If you enjoy a cozy set in England, you need to check out this series.

NOTE: I received an ARC of this book.

Daisy Thorne is the owner of the Ooh La La Hair Salon in the small village of Edgemead in Surrey, England. She is also studying Criminology on the side. A year ago she helped a handsome detective solve the murder of her best friend's mom. Now she is thrown back into investigating a new case but this one hits really close to home when a client is found outside the back door of her salon late on a Saturday night with Daisy's shears sticking in her back. And Daisy is the one who found Melanie. She called DCI Paul McGuinness right away. It gets worse when Melanie's DNA is found on Daisy's gloves and coat. Melanie is a mean person and has been since secondary school. So there are a lot of people who might have been interested in killing her, including the wife of the man with whom she is having an affair. Daisy enlists her staff to help her weed out possible suspects since Paul has threatened her to stay out of it. The list includes anyone who was in the salon that day in order to retrieve Daisy's shears. This is a great addition to the series and kept me guessing to the end. The ending was a definite surprise to me and made it all the more fun. I am looking forward to reading more about Daisy, her friends, and the handsome detective.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Finding a dead client is harrowing. Finding a dead client with YOUR scissors in their back is murder! And you become the prime suspect! That is exactly what happened to hairdresser Daisy Thorne. The victim, Mel Haverstock, and Daisy have some old history that some people think gives her motive. That and some questionable DNA findings earn her a pair of shiny new bracelets. But Daisy is determined to wash DCI McGuinness right out of her hair and style the real killer off to prison herself or dye trying!

Daisy Thorne is an admirable protagonist. She is intelligent and can think on her feet. She took clearing her name seriously and she came up with a list of suspects and worked her way through them. Ms. Innes also surrounds her with a nice supporting cast. Her friends/employees all have their own little quirks and histories. The banter between them is fun and true to life. What I loved was the way they pulled together and followed Daisy’s lead. The bit of romantic tension between Daisy and Detective McGuiness is interesting and entertaining especially when he has to do his job. All the characters are cleverly written with plenty of room for growth.

The mystery was well-plotted, filled with twists, and set a very comfortable pace. The murder happens early in the story giving plenty of time for a thorough inquiry. I love the way it came to an end. Daisy came up with a great idea to flush out a killer and the good detective was on board and present as her plan played out.

The salon setting really works. It is something relatable to everyone here or across the pond. My son’s girlfriend is working to complete her cosmetology degree and I recently went to the salon attached to the school. My first haircut since the pandemic and my cancer treatments. It was almost exactly what Ms. Innes describes in this book, as were other salons I have visited over the years.

This second Daisy Thore Mystery was very entertaining. I am excited that the third, Death at Holly Lodge has been released. With its Christmas theme, it is perfect reading for this time of year. I hope to read and review it soon.

In this second instalment in the Daisy Thorne Mysteries series by Louise R. Innes Daisy is a hair salon owner and is studying forensic psychology in her free time. She runs Ooh La La in Edgemead England a quiet, charming village. Her last customer of the day, Liz wants a little bit trimmed from the bottom of her newly highlighted hair and Daisy notices that her scissors are missing. Using another pair she completes Liz's new look, then sets about cleaning the salon. Daisy is locking up for the night when she discovers one of her customers, Melanie Haverstock lying behind her shop, with her missing cutting scissors in the dead woman’s back.

In this cozy tale, Louise R. Innes wastes no time presenting the reader with the murder very early on, and Daisy is immediately considered the prime suspect. The author's characters are very engaging, their presences jumping from the pages and by the time I finished reading I felt I had gotten to know them quite well, whilst wanting to meet up with them again. Daisy is curious, smart, and loyal to her friends, her friendships all seem genuine and I like that the reader actually gets to observe the friendships between the characters, rather than just being told that they are, in fact, on great terms. The diverse supporting characters were a hit for me as well; from the staff at Oh La La to the salon clients and the hunky Detective Chief Inspector Paul McGuinness, the reader is treated to well-crafted characters with plenty of room for growth.

The author gave me everything I desire from a fantastic cozy mystery making it easy to escape right into the humorous, light story. The suspects popped, the pacing was even and there were more than enough twists and surprises. The finale was wonderful and those twists kept on appearing. If you enjoy a cozy set in England, you need to check out this series. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Death at the Salon and I can't wait to read the first in the series, Death at a Country Mansion.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Kensington Books via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes was an excellent, fast read. Some cozies seem to get bogged down a bit with the protagonist continually going over the suspects and clues again and again, and while there was a bit of that, Innes kept the page number down so it was perfect for me. As I’ve said before, I would rather read a shorter book that is well written then a longer one that is repetitive.

Innes really shines when it comes to the characters' interaction and dialogue. It read how people actually talk, and she was able to add the perfect amount of sass between the co-workers. Instead of the author just telling use that they are friends, she shows us by their actions and words.

And I want to give a shout out for the mystery itself. I read so many cozies and other genres of mystery that I often know who dunnit at least half way through the book, but not the case with Death at the Salon! I was totally caught off guard, but it made sense, and once I knew, I could look back and see that Innes had put the clues out there for the reader to figure it out. Unlike sometimes where the identification of the killer comes out of nowhere and it barely makes sense.

Death at the Salon is a wonderful addition to the cozy genre and the Daisy Thorne Mysteries are a series I hope you do pick up to read.

This is a great cozy mystery and while I really enjoyed the story I didn't connect all that well with the characters, I think I need to go back and read the first one. It can be read as a stand alone but I felt like I was missing some depth. There was a lot about this book I enjoyed though. I loved that it jumped right into the mystery, I loved how the mystery developed, I loved that the main character wasn't a typical cozy mystery sleuth and I thought the writing was well done! Overall I enjoyed it and I think that fans of cozy mysteries will enjoy it too!

Daisy is a class act!

Daisy is a smart lady with a gift for unraveling mysteries. After nearly tripping over a dead body at the back door to her salon, she again finds herself in the middle a murder investigation. The twist is that this time she is the main suspect.

Things I liked about the story:
1. I enjoy reading a good, clean whodunit story that keeps my interest from page one through the last page.
2. A likeable character. I appreciate that Daisy is not an “I’m smarter than the police” type character.
3. A little romance thrown into the mix.
4. A network of true friends.

This is the second book I’ve read in this series and look forward to reading more in the future as they become available. I recommend this story and series to cozy mystery fans.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author and NetGalley. This gift did not affect my review of the book. This review is my voluntary and honest opinion.

I really, really enjoyed this book.

‘Death at the Salon’ follows Daisy Thorne, the owner of Ooh La La— a beloved hair salon in their village. As she is locking up the salon for the night she discovers one of her customer lying dead behind her shop, with her missing scissors on the dead woman’s back. To make matters even worse, Daisy becomes the prime suspect in the case. Daisy must find the real culprit to clear her name before it’s too late.

After hairdresser Daisy Thorne finds her missing scissors in a customer’s back, she becomes the prime suspect in a murder...

When Ooh La La regular Mel Haverstock left the hair salon that morning, no one expected it would be her final parting. But when Daisy closes shop Saturday night, she finds her client dead as the mullet cut. Homicide is back in style in the quiet village of Edgemead in Surrey, England. But who would want to harm a hair on poor Mel’s head?

Suspicions higher than a beehive pile on Daisy when it’s revealed that she and Mel had tangled back in high school, and DNA evidence seems to color her guilty. Handsome DCI Paul McGuinness gives the hairstylist new accessories—a lovely pair of silver handcuffs. To clear her name, Daisy must highlight the real backstabber, or she’ll end up shaving heads in the prison barbershop.

The author wastes no time presenting us with a murder very early on— a customer was found dead outside of the shop. I prefer it when the murder happens early on to a murder happening a couple chapters later, especially in cosy mysteries, because it almost degrades the “murder-mystery” element which is supposed to be the main plot.

Some may prefer a more in-depth introduction to the main characters, but keep in mind that this is the second book of the series. It is expected that you would have already read the first one, so an introduction to the characters really isn’t necessary. That being said, I think the author gives us more than enough about our main character before diving straight into the mystery.

Also can we appreciate the fact that our main character isn’t a coffee shop owner, or a baker, or a book store owner. That alone earns an additional point.

The mystery kept me hooked from start to finish. It was well constructed, well developed, and the motive actually made sense! I did have my own theory about who the culprit may have been, but I was wrong. In ‘ ‘ this was a good thing because the actually murderer reveal worked, and brought about an“aha!” moment.

I love the brewing romance between Daisy and the DCI Paul McGuiness. They have an almost “push-and-pull” relationship, and it is so fun to witness their banter. Slow burn romances can sometimes be frustrating to read, but we have to admit— once the couple does get together the agonising wait will be worth it.

There is a great cast of characters, and all the friendships our main character has all seem genuine. I like that we actually *see* the friendships between the characters, and not just being told that they are, in fact, friends.

I have the first book in my cart ready for check out, and will definitely be continuing on with this series. So glad to have discovered a new cosy mystery author.

4 stars.

The mystery in this book was absolutely wonderful. It had so many twists and turns and every time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong, and I love that! A mystery that keeps you guessing is always the best kind!

I also really like that even though this is the second book in the series, it stands alone rather nicely and doesn’t spoil the mystery of the previous book.

This is your typical cozy mystery with nothing too intense, gory, or romantic, but there are a few things worth mentioning:

As I said, romance-wise, there’s honestly not much to speak of other than it’s mentioned that unmarried couples are living together. Also, there are a couple of gay men, one with a boyfriend, but again, no “actions” are taken or spoken about. The only thing I caught was a mention of “pillow talk” at one point, the attractiveness of someone’s thighs, and an engaged woman makes out with a man she’s not engaged to (offscreen). So I really appreciate how “clean” the romance was in this book.

The one thing I didn’t care for, and the main reason I won’t read any more books in this series, is the language. It wasn’t all over the place, but it definitely sunk my interest in the book. There were 8 uses of h-ll, 2 uses of b–tard, 3 uses of b–ch, 2 uses of bloody, 1 use of sh-t, and 2 uses of d–n. So, really not my cup of tea in that department.

This book also has some models in it who are described as really thin, and some of their comments may be triggering to some people.

If these things don’t bother you, then you’ll probably really enjoy this book and the previous one as well. (You can also get a prequel to the first book by signing up for her newsletter.)

But when Daisy closes shop Saturday night, she finds her client dead with her cutting scissors sticking out of Mel’s back. Homicide is back in style in the quiet village of Edgemead in Surrey, England. Handsome DCI Paul McGuinness leads the enquiry but Daisy knows that things look bad for her so she sets out to find the truth.
This is the second book in the series & another page turning read, which I read in two sittings. I love Daisy who's intelligent, feisty plus she knows everyone in the village. Paul again features but has to follow protocol even though he knows Daisy is innocent. There are plenty of red herrings & twists & turns until the truth is revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed it & look forward to more in the series
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is the second book in the Daisy Thorne mystery series by Louise R. Innes.

You wouldn’t think a hair dresser series would be my thing but this one really stood out to me. The community here is one where you feel welcome and at home. I totally resonated with most all of the cast especially those in Ooh La La Salon.

The mystery of who killed Mel Haverstock has enough twists and turns to keep you interested and the interactions between characters were what sold it all to me on a silver platter. I loved the dynamic between Daisy and DCI Paul McGuinness. Definitely hoping for a love match there in the future.

Just so much to love about this series I can’t get enough.

Highly recommended.

If you like cozy mysteries, definitely check this one out. You won’t be disappointed.

I received this as an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in return for an honest review. I thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for allowing me to read this title.

Daisy Thorne and Detective Inspector Paul McGuinness are back as Daisy is accused of murder after her hair cutting scissors are found in a dead body. Death at the Salon (Daisy Thorne, #2) by Louise R. Innes, was a fast paced, enjoyable, and clever mystery. I love this series. The author doesn’t drag the story along and continues to give you clues or suspects on a regular basis. I love the characters she creates as they come across warm and friendly, just like the type of friends you would want in real life. As in the first book, the salon setting makes you feel at home and definitely adds to the book, even when in short spurts. If you enjoy easy to read, fast paced cozy mysteries, this is the book for you.

Thank you to Louise R. Innes, Kensington Publishing Corporation, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book. I am reviewing this book voluntarily and all opinions are my personal thoughts about the book.

I really enjoyed this glimpse into Daisy's salon and the employees there, who we really didn't get to know in the first one since the murder took place away from there. The story moved pretty quickly but there were areas where it lagged. Overall, the mystery was good and I was left guessing until the very end.

Daisy Thorne is wrapping up a long day and literally falls over a dead body as she leaves the salon. Too bad the body is a customer and Daisy’s scissors are sticking in the woman’s back, making Daisy the prime suspect.

The DCI covering the murder is Daisy’s old flame, Paul, and he’s a stickler for following the rules, even if he believes Daisy didn’t kill anyone, he has to let the evidence speak for itself. Rather than let the real murderer set her up for the crime, Daisy is going to snip off suspects one at a time until she finds who set her up to take the fall for their crime.

I really like this series. Daisy is smart, fun, and genuinely a person who cares and wants to do the right thing. If you didn’t read the first book, this one serves fine as a stand alone. If you did read the first book, you’ll devour this one just as quickly as the first and be ready for the next one.

Kindle Copy for Review from NetGalley and Kensington Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

A deadly hair cut can be your demise. A woman last seen one morning getting her hair cut is found dead in the evening by the salon cutter. What could have happen during that time spanned which cause her dead state?

Soon the past will raise suspicion on Daisy who had an altercation with the victim in high school and thus a motive. Will she be able to clear her name or will she be chopping hair in jail instead?

A charming small town cozy story.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of DEATH AT THE SALON (Book 2 of the Daisy Thorne Mysteries) by Louise R. Innes in exchange for an honest review. Daisy Thorne is the owner of the Ooh La La beauty salon in Surrey, England. She becomes a murder suspect when her work scissors are found in the back of a murder victim. Since Daisy and the victim had a contretemps in high school, it seems like she had means, motive, and opportunity. Daisy investigates in an effort to clear her name before her status changes from suspect to accused.

I thought this book was entertaining. I haven’t read the first book, but I had no difficulty following the story or keeping the characters straight. I recommend this book to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, small towns, and beauty salons.

Daisy Thorne is having just another day at her hair salon in Edgemead, Surrey. The big highlight of the day is that she's doing the hair for a wedding party, including her own stylist Penny's. But she has a last-minute appointment with a friend, and it takes her past eight o'clock in the evening. After she's cleaned up and is ready to go, she leaves out into the pouring rain by her back door. But no sooner does she get a few steps when she walks right onto a dead body.

It turns out the dead woman is Mel Haverstock, who had her hair colored at the salon that morning. She tells DCI Paul McGuinness that she has no idea why the woman was back, and so the investigation begins. When it's discovered that the murder weapon belonged to Daisy, things get harrowing for her. She's suspected in the murder, and needs to clear her name. But not long after, things start heating up when an accident befalls someone else, and now the suspect list is growing. Daisy's time is getting shorter, and she needs to unmask a killer before her own life is sheared short...

This is the second book in the series and I found it just as delightful as the first. Once again we journey to the small town of Edgemead, and this time we spend more time in the salon with Daisy and her employees. Floria is back, but in a much smaller role, and so are other characters from the first book. This one definitely centers on Daisy's life this time around.

When the murder occurs, Daisy is a main suspect because of the murder weapon. While she knows she didn't do the deed, she starts compiling a list of people who could have -- and it all comes down to those who were in her shop that day. But did any of them know the dead woman, and what reason would they have for killing her? It turns out quite a few, as a matter of fact, since Mel had made many enemies throughout her life, including the woman who owns the shop next door. Now Daisy has to quietly sift through suspects without them realizing they're suspects, but it isn't going to be easy.

The mystery again was done very well, with plenty of red herrings to get us through the book. There was a lot going on, and very few clues to the murderer, which came as a complete surprise. But the ending made it all worthwhile, as the motive was revealed and again we see that you can't look into the mind of a deluded person. Unfortunately, that is the way life is; and when it is all said and done, we have a very good mystery with a lot going on, and the epilogue sorted it all out and leaves us feeling satisfied in the outcome. I look forward to the next in the series. Highly recommended.

I received a copy from the publisher and NetGalley but this in no way influenced my review.

Review:
Satisfying cozy mystery with all the right ingredients - a cozy village, I was surprised, it had a Starbucks but I guess even cozy villages in the English countryside have to go with the times, an amateur sleuth, an unsuspecting victim, a quirky supporting cast, and trail of clues and red herrings and a cute detective... I liked Daisy the sleuth a lot, she is caring and kind and wants to do the right thing in some aspects she reminded me of Agatha Raisin by MC Beaton (thinking about it she is probably more reminiscent of the tv version than the book one...). I enjoyed the way the story kept me engaged while balancing the act of being interesting and intriguing enough and reliable and predictable enough to be a cozy mystery ! A wonderfully relaxing read - loved it ! The book put me back on track to enjoying the weekend ! And I’ll buy Book 1 (Death at A Country Mansion) in the series and I’ll look forward to the series continuing with Book 3 !

Daisy Thorne is back working quietly as a hairdresser at her own business, the Ooh La La Beauty Salon, after her crime-busting, murder-solving, exploits the previous year. Her life is pretty good, apart from having lost contact with DCI Paul McGuinness, which happened while she was on holiday with best friend, Floria.

When Daisy can't find her cutting scissors as she works on a most particular client she brushes it aside and uses those of her stylist instead. Although annoyed at losing them, especially as they were named, she closes up the salon at 9.00pm and heads out into the foul weather to walk home. As she leaves, Daisy finds her scissors, unfortunately they are sticking out of the back of a client she's hated since her teens.

Soon Paul is right back in her life again but not in quite the way she'd hoped! As his main suspect he and partner Buckley,  have to investigate every part of her life, personal and professional. To the dismay of them all, everything seem to lead to her!

This is the second Daisy Thorne book and is just as lovely as the first. The characters are already well rounded and the crimes just complex enough to keep you guessing for quite some time. There are mentions of the case in book one but no real spoilers, there is however, a teaser for book three included. I will be waiting happily for the next instalment which seems to involve Floria's complicated family once again.

I was able to read an advanced copy of this book thanks to NetGalley and the publishers but the opinions expressed are my own. This is a very enjoyable, relaxing read which I can easily recommend.

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes (A Daisy Thorne Mystery #2) 4 stars

A sequel to "Death at a Country Mansion" that introduced us to Daisy Thorne, salon owner and amateur sleuth extraordinaire. After a full and busy day at the salon, Daisy is tidying up and prepping for the next day. One things that annoys her is that she can't find her favorite scissors, after locking up she leaves through the back entrance and nearly trips over someone lying down near the doorway. She recognizes the person as Melanie Haverstock, an earlier customer; unfortunately she has Daisy's missing scissors in her back. Daisy is now the prime suspect in a murder investigation. She will have to figure out who has motive means and opportunity to kill Melanie Haverstock and frame her for the crime.

Daisy Thorne operates a busy salon in Edgemead; a local hub that can be sleuths best resource, she has access to multiple sources of information. She will need those sources to solve this mystery. I loved this mystery, as a reader we followed Daisy through the whole investigative process. The supporting characters contributed a great deal to the enjoyment of this book. I really liked the progression of the relationship between Daisy and DCI McGuinness , She helped him solve the murder of an opera diva in "Death at a Country Mansion" and this book shows that he values her intelligence, even when he is exasperated by her being involved at all. I am looking forward to "Death at Holly Lodge" coming in September 2021.

Daisy is a hairdresser and owns a salon called Ooh La La in the quaint Surry village of Edgemead. The most she should have to deal with? A customer who didn't like the new hair color or the cut looked better in the magazine picture but not a dead customer dumped at the salon's back door with her hair cutting scissors stuck between her shoulder blades. So now the biggest question of all - who hated the victim, Melanie Haverstock, enough to bump her off and who also hated Daisy enough to frame her for the crime? Daisy and Mel had issues that dated back to their school days - as did some other village residents - and when it's all put together it places Daisy as the prime suspect - technically. DCI Paul McGuinness knows she innocent but he's a by the book kind of copper and the handcuffs are part of the rules. Time for Daisy to turn to her other talent, that of investigating. After all, she is studying criminology and she's learned a lot. Time to see is she's learned enough to get herself out of this sticky mess and catch the killer.
From the cozy English village setting and the wonderful cast of characters, this mystery series has everything I enjoy in a book. The puzzle is solid, the clues are plentiful and the ending surprised me. All in all, the perfect reading escape for the avid cozy mystery lover.
My thanks to the publisher Kensington and to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

This is the second installment in the new cozy series " Daisy Throne". I have read the first in series and was delighted to read this next in series for review. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own. This can be read as a stand alone however I highly recommend the first in series for your reading enjoyment.

Daisy is a fun protagnist who runs a hair salon in the fictional charming village of Edgemead in Surrey, England. I love the author's descriptions of the village and the people. Daisy is closing the shop one night when she finds a customer murdered with her scissors outside her shop. She is immediately suspect number one with the local police. The difficulty she faces is losing her business and reputation as well as the respect of her local officer a former love interest. Daisy has to find the right suspect and solve the murder before the local police close the case.

Daisy is likable, savvy and smart . I like how she eliminates clues amid many red herrings. The ending was pleasingly surprising . I highly recommend this next in series .

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes
Publisher: Kensington Books
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
Publication Date: March 30, 2021

Death at the Salon by Louise R. Innes is the second book in the Daisy Thorne Mystery series. I had not read the first book, but was easily able to jump right into this one!

I really enjoyed this book! It had a clever theme, fabulous characters and a great mystery! Also, I love that there is a handsome DCI! Daisy, the heroine of the story, is clever and keeps her wits about her when finding herself in some trouble. The story was so good and I couldn't get enough of it!

I look forward to reading the other books in the series. The first book in the series, Death at a Country Mansion, is currently available on Kindle Unlimited, so I will definitely be reading it! The next book in the series, Death at Holly Lodge, is scheduled to be published in September 2021. There is also a prequel novella, Death at the Seaside, available for free through the author's website.

I'm so grateful to Louise R. Innes, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.

This is the 2nd installment in the Daisy Thorne Mystery series. Daisy Thorne runs the Ooh La La Owner Salon in Edgemead and as she is closing up one night, she almost stumbles over the dead body of one of her regulars Melanie Haverstock. Melanie was not Daisy’s favorite person but she is shocked to see her dead behind her salon with her scissors in her next. Of course, Daisy’s prints are on the scissors so she becomes the prime suspect and DCI Paul McGuinness must go by the book. Daisy and Paul had gone on one date many months ago but have not since although everyone in town refers to him as her detective. Paul has warned Daisy that he must go by the book and if she digs up clues they could be thrown out of court. Daisy gets some of her friends to help out and ask around to find out who could have possibly had something against Melanie. Also, there was a limited number of people who had access to her scissors in the salon so a limited number of suspects. Great story and I love how Daisy and all her friends stick together and support each other. Great ending and look forward to the next installment in this series. Recommend.

I really enjoyed this story. I liked how the characters have progressed with life since the last book and how the author brought us along so we didn't feel we'd missed anything. No love triangle for Daisy, no romance at all but that is not the same for those around her with best friend Floria, stylist-friend Penny, and head stylist-friend Krish all in relationships.

Daisy is continuing her criminology studies, though at times it seemed she forgets what I hope she is learning through her courses about procedures and such.

There are several subplots/themes but I don't feel like they are cluttered nor confusing. Unlike other stories where the amateur sleuth is suspected, Daisy actually gets arrested and has to stay in lock-up a bit. This presents an opportunity for more mindful sleuthing instead of the usual runaround stumbling upon info sleuthing (I like them both). This gives us the reader the opportunity to learn more about the salon employees and their connections.

It has been a couple of years since this book was published, I hope that it is not the last. There are some loose threads I would love to see finished.

Happy Reading!

Though this is the second book in this series, it is the first book that I have read. I enjoyed it and will go back and read the first book as well. It is a cozy mystery and is set, primarily in a beauty salon named Ooh La La, in a small town in England.

The proprietor of the salon and amateur sleuth is Daisy Thorne. Daisy has been studying Forensics Psychology with an eye to becoming a profiler for the police one day. When a regular customer is found murdered outside her salon, Daisy comes under suspicion.

She is not the only one who is a suspect. Way too many people had motives and opportunity and Daisy’s detective friend, DCI Paul McGuinness, has his hands full following leads and trying to corral Daisy into not investigating the murder.

There are lots of red herrings that take you from one suspect to another. Daisy’s relationship with Paul is at risk but still she chooses to do what she has to in order to clear herself and those she loves of suspicion.

I was provided a digital advance reader copy of this book by the publisher via Netgalley.
