He's the unobtainable rockstar. She's the perfect cheerleader. They never should have fallen for each other. But when sparks fly, can the bad boy and good girl make it work?
Hailey Danielson has it all. She's the cheerleading captain, straight-A student, and the perfect daughter. But after a humiliating breakup, she struggles to bounce back. Instead of worrying about boys, Hailey swears off dating -- she needs to figure herself out before she can get involved with anyone else.
Trey Carter is Evermore's bad boy. He's notorious for his absolute refusal to date anyone. The only thing he cares about is his music and getting signed to the local label. But there's a catch: the label won't sign him unless he can drum up a local fan base. Too bad Trey Carter pushes everyone away.
When Hailey and Trey are thrown together to do a high school English project, they strike a deal: Trey will take the project seriously so Hailey can keep her straight-A status, and in return, Hailey will use her social media influence to get Trey fans.
As they work together, Hailey can't help but be drawn to the mysterious musician's rough charms. And Trey? He suspects there's more to the bubbly cheerleader than meets the eye. However, they both come from different worlds.
Can the Golden Girl and the Bad Boy make it work, or will their differences tear them apart?

🎧— steal your heart from austin and ally i confess, i kinda like it that you’re innocent, keeping up your guard i’ll break it down so you can’t hide it no matter what you do i’m gonna steal your heart ꒰ i’m sobbing at my song choice lol (i’m actually not, i unironically and unashamedly love this show 🫶), but this song is so hailey and trey coded! ꒱
ᥫ᭡ my thoughts! ୨୧ another adorable book from ms. emily lowry! trey and hailey were so cute, i loved their dynamic <3 once again, the way that these characters fell for each other was too pure, they had me giggling and kicking my feet! hailey was a fun main character, i could relate to her wanting to keep up with people’s expectations of her. but i loved reading from trey’s pov. seeing him “hate” hailey and getting to know her and his of opinion of her going from disgust to down bad (im actually really proud of this line. please clap like egomaniacs and shower me with your praise), gah i love him 🥹 though i had 2 qualms w this book. the 1st being that trey is the “bad boy” of evermore high, yet there were no specific examples of this?? there was like one mention of him *possibly* being arrested, but that was never brought up again. also, the 3rd act breakup was once again annoying. just let my babies be happy! regardless, i rly enjoyed this + recommend it!!
୨୧ quotes! ᝰ "Who gives a crap what anyone thinks? If they can't resolve in their small little brains that you can be a rich cheerleader and a rebellious underdog, that's their problem, not yours. You spend your entire life trying to cram yourself into the boxes that other people make for you. Screw those people and screw their boxes. You aren't wearing masks, you aren't pretending to be different people, you ARE all of those different people. So get out of your head and start acting like it." ⤷ i looveee jordyn - she’s such a great friend to hailey 🫂
ᝰ "Hailey Danielson, you're more than you could even imagine. And I don't care what you become; I'll be thrilled as long as you'll have me."
Hailey has to choose a seat in English after she is late and only two are left. One next to Evermore's bad boy or one next to her now ex-boyfriend. She of course chooses the bad boy. Due to seating arrangements, Hailey is now partnered with Trey.
In order for Trey to take this seriously, she makes a deal with him that she will get him the fan base he is needing to get signed on a local record deal. At first, both don't like each other and have certain thoughts of how each other are, but after spending some time together, they just might be way different than the other thought.
I love the dynamic of these two. Their banter was funny and they just went so good together. I really like the authors writing and how easy the books are to read.
I can't wait to get into the next book. While these can be read as stand alones other characters from the books do make appearances.
4⭐️ “She’s a fire in the darkest sky, a golden girl with a heart of July.” 👏 This series is so good! Plz read this! So this series, Rumors And Lies At Evermore High, has the same circle in every book. So one book will be about the captain of the cheerleading team, another about the star QB, stuff like that. So the same people will be mentioned in each book….if that made any sense 😂 But this book was so cute! I was reading this on kindle and I was reading and I laughed at a line and was like that was so good, then I was like oh…that was the end of the book. 😢 You know it’s a good book when you don’t realize it’s the end ❤️
I am completely and utterly enthralled with this story. I had an outrageous about of anger towards Hailey’s ex from the very first page. His verbal and emotional assault showed his insecurities and warped perspective that he was untouchable. Anyway, from there she is left questioning who she is and if what she’s doing is just because she’s supposed to. I loved reading her growth and becoming her own person again.
There was an enormous amount to Trey’s character that he kept to himself. His kindness towards his family and friends, his determination to work for what he wanted was admirable. He was confident and let things slide off with ease. Some things haunted him from his past. Yes as he spent more time with Hailey, he opened himself up more and let her see a more vulnerable side.
You couldn’t hide the chemistry with these two. The stolen moments they got to be themselves and the electric energy was unmatched. Their insecurities and miscommunication leading to fall outs, (thank you Taylor Swift) left them wondering their place, was it realistic and did they like them for who they actually were? There was never a dull moment and I never wanted it to end. The constant quick-wit back and forth, easy banter and lighthearted moments made it even more enjoyable.
Hailey Danielson is cheerleading captain and a straight-A student. She endured an embarrassing breakup with Adam and swears off dating.
Trey Carter is the Evermore High school “bad boy”. He wants to get his band noticed and he needs fans to get the proper attention. So when Hailey and Trey are made partners for a high school English project, they come up with an agreement to help each of them. Trey will actually do work on the project and take it seriously so Hailey can keep her “A” grade in the class; and what he wants from her is to help him get fans and maybe a chance to perform at a local club.
As they work together on the project, Hailey sees that he isn’t the jerk she had thought he was. And Trey sees her in a new light as well, not the typical rich kid he had assumed. Where will this new appreciation take them? Can it bring them closer together? Or are they just too different to make it work?
This was a good story, especially when the two of them actually helped each other. The characters are well-portrayed and start to matter to the reader as they become more realistic through the author’s story line. Grab your copy and see if Trey reaches his goals with Hailey’s belief in him and his hard work.
It starts off with Hailey being embarrassed by her boyfriend Adam while she breaks up with him. She then gets paired with the mysterious bad boy Trey Carter for her semester English project. Things are rough from the start he views her as the typical rich, high school cheerleader. She thinks he’s jerk. But he’s really a musician struggling to get his band noticed and she’s the golden girl trying to find herself. They make a deal he actually tries on their assignment and she helps him get to preform at Prohibition (a local night club). Before they both realize that they click and make each other better the app Click butts in. Once again Click causes problems for yet another couple. Just like the previous book (Chase and Abby’s story) I freaking loved it. I can’t wait for the next book or who’s story is next. Maybe Dylan and Jordyn.....? I would very happily give this book lots more stars just like I wish I could for the previous book. It’s a wonderful YA. There is no steamy scenes or anything like that but it’s cute, funny and an HEA. It’s definitely deserves to be read.

The enchanting voice of Frank Sinatra greeted me from an old record player.
A fireplace roared, the logs crackling as the flames danced across them. The windows were frosted over, giving the coffee shop the same vibe as a ski chalet.
And Trey Carter was decidedly not Prince Charming. He was the swashbuckling pirate who kissed you once before disappearing from your life forever.
I have a million voices in my head telling me who I’m supposed to be and what choice I’m supposed to make.
“It’s not a love story, it’s a tragedy.”
This was a fun and quick read. Trey and Hailey were adorable. The book made me laugh out loud. I didn’t like it as much as the first book, Chase Jones is my Fake Boyfriend, which surprised me because I love enemies to lovers books, but this didn’t quite hit the mark for me. However, I still enjoyed the book. 3.50 stars.
This was my first read from this author. I loved the first person point of view writting which is a deal breaker for me. What happens when a good girl, straight A student, captain of the cheerleading squad, stays without her boyfriend? Well, she kind of wanted to have "the talk" but the boyfriend thought it would be better to make a scene, so afterwards she swears that she will never date again but then she meets the school's bad boy, Trey Carter. What could go wrong? A very good read, had a lot of laughing moments, which I always love. I will definitely read more from this author in the future. 5 stars.

This is the 2nd book in this series and it follows along the lines of the first book. It is a sweet YA book and it delivers the feels that you want from a YA book. It was sweet and quick and the flow is superb. I really like this author and this is the 2nd book I have read from her . I look forward to more from her in the future. I like the chemistry between Try and Hailey, even after the complete mess she is one that I will remember. Trey is not only cute but he has a heart of gold if the one is willing to get to know him. This can be read as a stand alone but I find that is better after reading the first in the series.

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Trey and Hailey. Hailey is a popular girl, cheerleading captain and has rich parents. She's living a charmed life, dating the football captain, until she breaks up with him and he turns it around in her. The to make matters worse in English class she's paired with bad boy, rebel and mysterious Trey Carter. Trey is in a band but needs more recognition. When Hailey proposes that her media presence might help his band is he works on the English project, Trey takes a chance. What neither expect us to find a relationship with the other as different as they are.

I'm floored, blown away! It was even better than I expected and I'm so happy I took the time to read this book. The problem with romance novels and me is that its rare that I find a female heroine that I really like. Authors can make the H as dreamy and book-boyfriend-y as ever but its difficult to create a female lead that will have the reader rooting for her no matter who she's with, or not with. That was Hailey. I loved her and Trey, their relationship is precious, but I like them both on their own too which is hard to make happen. I'd give this book way more than five stars if I could. Great characterization, masterful plot, awesome supporting and recurring characters. Five stars No swearing No sex
“So what if I thought he was good looking in a scandalous, bad-boy sort of way? So did everyone. And Trey Carter was decidedly not Prince Charming. He was the swashbuckling pirate who kissed you once before disappearing from your life forever.”
After this book, Emily Lowry is one of my new favorite YA authors! I loved the development of Trey and Hailey’s relationship and the themes of self-identity and self-worth in the book. It’s also a swoony and sweet story, and is a lot of fun to read! I think my favorite thing was that both Trey and Hailey made assumptions about each other and then had to learn how to see past the surface to who each person really was. I liked that both characters had different layers to who they were!
I loved the first 50% of this book. The plot hook was very engaging of a girl who wasn't sure who she wanted to be and a guy who already knows where he wants to go and is just struggling to get there. The pacing was great which made the book difficult to put down.
It fell apart for me about halfway through thought and in a big way. Trey got old real quick with his issues with Hailey's wealth, and this was never really addressed adding to my frustration. I also hated how much Hailey got lost in Trey because I wish she felt a little more of a stronger as a character in her own right rather than attached to Trey.
Sigh.

Super sweet teen romance! The plot was pretty predictable bad-boy-meets-good-girl / opposites attract romance but it held my attention the whole time. I really loved Hailey and watching her journey to figuring out how to define herself outside of everyone’s expectations. Trey was a great character too and I really appreciated that he wasn’t overly broody and that he didn’t put too much of a wall up with Hailey. I also really liked their back-and-forth banter. So if you’re in the mood for a light, sweet, quick read, this book is perfect!
A sweet YA read that well-thought with characters that show growth and a storyline that kept me hooked into the story with sassy characters, gossip, adorable dates, and emotions. Can the Golden Girl and the Bad Boy make it work, or will their differences tear them apart?

I love it when I find a new author I can put at the top of my tbr list. I really enjoyed this book. I would definitely recommend this author and I would have no issues letting my teen read this book too.
Another great story in this enchanting high school series. The couple is adorable and believable, and the dialog is well-written. If you like sweet YA romance, this book, and the series it's part of, are definitely for you.
I enjoyed this one more than the first book. who doesn’t love a “bad boy” although he really wasn’t bad mostly misunderstood. He was just a musician. The banter was fun. Still clearly YA.
This one had more kissing in the first book, but still clean.
popular girl x loser guy where the loser isnt a total cunt and doesnt cheat on her and do her dirty? (seth cohen and dan humphrey im looking ar you) hell yes.
TREY AND HAILEY ARE SUCH CUTIESSS. i can’t with YA series like this that always have a “bad boy” book to it where the girl is too good for the guy - THAT AINT A LIE - but also he always has so much potential and YET he’s always going on about how he doesn’t deserve her enough when HE DOESSS. hailey had he’s always been in the shadows of that KERKFACE adam zamos. like i would actually KILL HIM because he is such a BUM HEAD. and you know who else i hate? MADISON. she deserves NOTHING in her PATHETIC LITTLE LIFE. like all of them DONT. but on the other side, the band? oh they were SO FUNNY or LUCY? this WOMANNNN, i love her she is SUCH A DIVA. the way hailey worked so hard and actually managed to score them into prohibition AND have a complete DANCE OFF with lucy? i also LOVEE jordyn and haileys friendship, like they are just so sweet and have always got each others backs. and that moment where trey couldn’t figure out the song and hailey, who BY EAR got their song AND found what was wrong? like What. A. Queen!!! when she met his family, it was so cute, i just want to give her a big hug because her parents are like they mean well, but the mum was just so ANNOYING!! like she was always going on about how hailey looked, saying she should keep dating adam? like BUTT OUT. i did NOT LIKE HER. this book though? the romance? I LOVED THEM. absolutely HATEDD click like this website pisses me off SO BAD. but we are going to GET JUSTICE it’s going to BE OKAY!!! i love this series!!!
hailey talking about jordyn, i LOVE their friendship: “she was my best friend, had been since the day she hit dylan ramirez for snatching my juice box at recess. her actions had earned her a four-minute time out, and my lifelong, undying loyalty.”
the door swung open without a knock. “MOM! TREY IS GOING TO KISS THE GIRL!” isaac is hilarious and such a diva.
“hailey belongs to no one but herself.” trey ate w this.
“you ARE the cheerleader. you ARE the nightclub singer. you ARE the sidekick. and you ARE the hero. people. can. be. more. than. one. thing. you are forcing yourself to choose when you don’t have to.”
“you heard me. i love you, hailey danielson. i love you for every single piece of who you are.” “i love you, too.” she loved me. my heart was full.
