Adam Marshall can’t shake the guilt from killing a man in the line of duty. Already struggling to feel worthy of his badge, he’s faced with a civilian poking around in his dangerous investigation. And just as he starts falling for her, he discovers a vengeful kingpin could have the innocent woman in his sights.

Though she can work the evidence for leads to her cousin’s killer, Olivia can’t quite decipher Adam’s intentions. And when Adam digs up the last detail needed for the arrest, he’s terrified he’s staring down the barrel of another tragic ending.

Claire Boston fell in love with romance and romantic suspense at eleven when she discovered her mother’s stash of Nora Roberts novels. Like Nora, she writes series set around families or groups of friends with a guaranteed happy ending.

She loves travelling and learning about new cultures and interesting vocations which she then weaves into her writing.

When Claire’s not at the computer typing her stories she can be found creating her own handmade journals, swinging on a sidecar, or in the garden attempting to grow something other than weeds.

Claire lives in Western Australia with her husband, who loves even her most annoying quirks and is currently learning how to knit.

This story is about a young accountant named Olivia whose cousin was killed by drug dealers (the dealers also committed other crimes, including money laundering - which Olivia might be good at discovering what was going on). Adam is a police officer in their small town who has some guilt over not being able to stop the killing of Olivia's cousin and also guilt over killing the killer, when he could maybe have just wounded and jailed him (though many others do not blame him for anything like he blames himself). There are good descriptions of small town life, the life of a small town police officer, and the care and concern of family and friends in a small town. Olivia and Adam find themselves falling in love but there is some deception and misunderstanding that brings trouble to their growing relationship. And as her accounting skills and his police skills bring them together in finding out the current crimes going on, Olivia finds herself in the middle of danger. Can Adam save her? Can he save their relationship? This is a great romantic suspense story!

Ms. Boston is a new to me author, and what an amazing author she is! Protect is the fourth book of her First Response series and after reading this book, I realized I have really been missing out! This is an emotionally charged, action-packed romance filled with danger and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat anxiously turning the pages wanting to know what happens next. Adam is a police officer and an incident while on duty leaves him shaken and doubting himself. He also feels guilt over not being able to keep Olivia's cousin from being killed. Her cousin was killed by drug dealers and she wants answers. Adam warns her to stop investigating but she is stubborn. Olivia drives him crazy but he is also attracted to her. I love the dynamics between the two - they have such great chemistry. Ms. Boston has written an amazing book and I am hooked. I will certainly be going back and reading all the books in the series!

This is the first book that i have read by Claire Boston but definitly not the last as i loved this story so much. Adam is a police officer and when things went wrong and someone died Adam does not know what to do as he is struggling and unable to sleep and he cant find a way forward. Olivia has travelled to see her aunt and uncle after her cousin death and she finds utter devastation in the house that was always full of life, she is extremely worried about them and she does not know what to do. This book had many twists and turns and i loved all the characters and how they were always there for each other regardless of the situation. Adam and Olivia's chemistry was so strong and i love how they are not afraid to show there vulnerable side and how they were feeling.Claire Boston has wrote a brilliant book and it is so well written and i recommend you read it as it has a great story line.

Another action packed intense book where justice prevails eventually. Olivia does not believe that there is more to her cousins death and that it was not a drug deal gone bad and its up to Adam to convince her to stop investigating. I love the dynamic of the Adam and Olivia together, their desire and intense chemistry made a great couple. Story line was intriguing and well developed with action, drama, several twists and turns and criminal activity. Olivia was such a wonderful strong smart female character, her insecurities just made her more realistic and relatable. Adam is questioning his abilities and lacking conviction of his actions during Olivia's cousins murder and struggling to work through those emotions. Seeing both characters flawed and vulnerable makes them very believable with a tremendous amount of depth. A Must Read!

(Warning: part of a series, but each have different sets of main characters within their world, each book has its own HEA)

I cannot get enough of this author and this series!

It is wrought with emotion and so well written that I absolutely could not put it down!
Each book has been cohesive and enlightening to the overall theme between these characters.

This whole book is full of heart-pounding suspense and I absolutely loved it! Olivia strives to see if there is more to her cousins murder and can’t see what Adams intentions are. I don’t want to reveal anything big, but the way that these two come together as they investigate has the romance almost steaming on the page. I feel like I need to re-read all of the other books in this series

I regret that I did not read the other books in this series because some of the background is lost on me.
Olivia is not convince her cousins death was unintentional and Adam is determined to make her see the danger. The suspense and action undertones is riveting and the storyline explosive. Read as these two battle the hidden enemies and secrets that keep them guessing

I have read all of Claire Boston’s books and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. Protect is the last in the First Response series and it is a great ending. The characters are likable and believable. The plot is clever and the build up of suspense is well paced. I liked how the characters from other books have popped up throughout the series. I read Protect in one day, it kept me enthralled.

Stuart and Hayley are struggling since their son was killed in a drug deal gone bad. Their niece, Olivia, convinces them to take a vacation, and she stays in their house while they're gone. She thinks there's more to her cousin's death. Adam, police officer, was involved when Ian was killed. He tries to discourage Olivia from investigating further. As they become friends and then more, there is a misunderstanding which nearly destroys their new relationship. Besides this romance, there is so much suspense and drama surrounding the story (yes, there was so much more to Ian's death). This is such a wonderful and diverse group of friends, loving and caring, accepting new people into the circle. I really enjoyed this book.
