He chose to be a dad before he realized he'd need a wife, too.

When Tait took in an abandoned girl, he had no idea it would change his life.

Tait Stedtmann–accountant, fledgling do-it-yourselfer, and all-around nice guy. He'd been more than a little interested in Bentley Girard and had finally worked up the courage to ask her out. That was before that fateful day at the rest stop when he saw a girl shoved from a car and abandoned there.

She's not like any girl he's ever met, and now she's given him an ultimatum. Adopt her baby, or she'll abort it.

Eden doesn't think he'll do it. She can have the abortion and move on with her life–far away from these creepy Christians in Fairbury. But when Tait agrees, she finds herself keeping her word… and the pregnancy.

Nine months later, Tait is wracked by guilt as relief sets in when Eden leaves and terrified as he decides he can't do this daddy thing alone. Bentley figured out how to make marriage happen for her.

Would she help him, find someone, too?

When Tait gets married, one plus one doesn't equal two, it equals three!

Tempting Tait is the second in the Marriages of Conviction Series.

**fingers skittle across the keyboard. Stop. Eyelids blink over the top**

Oh, was this bio day? Oops! I forgot. I was lost in my latest manuscript. Umm... bio. Yeah.

Hi! I’m Chautona Havig. (for those who care, that’s Shuh-TONE-uh HAVE-ig). Yeah. Just work with me here. I should have used a pseudonym, but when you grow up with a name like Chautona, it kind of sticks.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near. ~ Hebrews 10: 23–25

Those aren’t just words on a page for me–they’re why I write. I write to encourage my brothers and sisters in Christ. The stories I create are to make people laugh, cry, question, consider.

They’re for you.

When the world screams for hope, I try to point you to the true Source of hope–Jesus.

Sometimes life in the church no longer seems a refuge from the pain of a self-serving world around us, but through my stories, I try to point you to the only Refuge that can truly help–the Father’s Everlasting Arms.

And sometimes we just need an escape from the monotony, the emptiness we see around us. We need joy, laughter–what I like to call “just the write escape.”

Christian fiction without apology or pretense–lived, not preached.
What does that even mean?
It means I care–about you. About your walk with Jesus. I care about the words you put before your eyes, the mental pictures those words conjure. It’s difficult to express just how much I love my brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s difficult to share just how much I love you.

But I do.

And I write for you. I sit in my little house in California’s Mojave Desert and I write to show you why one sister believes one thing, why a brother believes another. I write to show you how some Christians handle trials or triumphs–for you. So when you’re faced with something–good or bad, it doesn’t matter–maybe it’ll spark a memory. Maybe that memory will smolder until you pull out your Bible and see what the Lord said about it–about His great love for you. For YOU!

And maybe, just maybe, you’ll share that love with another hurting, confused, or blessed-with-more-than-she-knows-what-to-do-with soul.

I just happen to think that’s the most blessed giving anyone could hope to receive.

Although I loved the single-dad trope in action, it wasn't my favourite Chautona Havig read. I really couldn't get Tait, the storyline felt a bit jumbled, and there was a 2-3 "married scenes" I could have done without. (I knew this would probably happen due to it being a marriage of conviction/convenience story, I just had hoped the author would simply have "fade-to-black" scenes, not a scene of a married woman in lingerie...)

The characters were like all Havig's characters, very alive. Their personalities just didn't mesh with mine very well, so I didn't completely understand them.

It was very obvious that Tait and his mother were saved and believed in God, but I wish it had been more obvious with Maya... as someone who grew up in Québec (heavily affected by Catholicism) I would have appreciated more of the reasons why she was saved, and more of an effaces on why Tait and the others didn't agree with her Catholic family's faith (instead of a general sense of "they believe differently, but they believe, so it's okay).

I appreciated the author being realistic and not having a big redemption arc for each character... as a pastor's daughter, Eden's arc felt very realistic to me.

Would not recommend this book to people under 18.

He is over his head, but not drowning.

I loved Blessing Bentley. The concept of marrying someone without being affectionately in love with them was a creative and thoughtful concept. Tempting Tait is just as wonderfully done.

First, let me say that Tait should go down as the most swoon worthy but underestimated hero I have ever read. He is “Clark Kent” with a “Superman” heart. Maybe lacking the bulging muscles but those come and go. His brawn is his mind, his heart, and his determination. His willingness to take the needed steps to not just save one life, but two. And the grace he had to display was rather commendable. He had to show a level of control not man have. #BookHero

Tempting Tait is more like two books. The first half is one story as Tait navigates his choice will dealing with an immature and selfish house guest. The second half read like a love story that tested, again, what love really looks like. And I might add, I have read many of Chautona Havig’s books and I will say, this one kicked up the chemistry ticker a little more than she usually does. Not that there are a ton of “Basham kisses” (if you read CF romance, you know who that is) but the intensity in those romantically suspenseful moments turned up the heater. Bravo!

If you love Chautona Havig books and unusual romances, this is the book for you. I can’t say much more because I will give away too much and that isn’t fair. Just click the link and read for yourself. I am sure you will be glad you did.

I was a little bit skeptical about picking up Tempting Tait because I really loved Blessing Bentley and I wasn't sure if there was a way that it could be topped. However, I was proved wrong. I loved Tempting Tait, in fact it's probably knocked Blessing Bentley out of the top spot of one of my favorite Chautona Havig books, as well as favorite Christian fiction book!

I enjoyed the premise of the story which tackled a topic that is prevalent in the society, and was convicting to read for someone who is pro-life, however, in true Chautona Havig form, it tackles this serious issue in a light-hearted way...or rather it was infused with light-heartedness that while the story is convicting, it is still a fun read.

Tempting Tait is almsot like reading two books. The first half deals with Tait as he tries to save an unborn baby's life by agreeing to adopt her. We also see how Tait tries to be an example to the baby's birth mom, even though she wants no part of anything to do with Christianity. The second half of the book follows Tait as the father of a newborn and realizing that he can't do it on his own and he needs a wife. And he enlists the help of Bentley to help him find a wife - who, in my hoenst opinion, even though they didn't get together under "normal circumstances", is perfect for Tait.  Will his search be successful? You'll have to see for yourself.

Tempting Tait was entertaining, thought-provoking and humorous all at the same time. There were some great one-liners in it, especially towards the end of the book. It was a beautiful story that deserves to be read by many. And all I can say is that I am  looking forward to reading the last book in the series, Charming Chloe, when it comes out next year! 5/5 Stars.

This book took me unawares because it is not the conventional kind of book I read. I was captivated and had to read it in one sitting.
In the pages of this book I read about unique characters and enjoyed a beautiful love story of sacrifice and obedience to God like I've never read before.
I greatly admired Tait and his he sought to obey God and go out of his way to do the right thing.
This is the book 2 of Marriage Of Conviction series. I will definitely be looking forward to book 3. The author did a fantastic job here.

The book was a beautiful illustrations of how God turns a mess into a miracle through willing and sacrificial people.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion.

Wow, what a unique book! This book is totally based on learning God's will from scripture and then doing it, which is harder and done less often than it should be done. Tait is a dream guy though not it looks but in heart. Maya sees this immediately and is totally taken with Tait. There are some hot button issues in this book, so be aware.

This is one of my favorite books this year. I can't say it tops the first book in the series, which was my favorite last year, but it's close. I love the example of how Christians should respond to abortion, and what marriage should be—and I love the humor, and the storyline... and everything about the book! This is a great story and I'm glad I had the chance to read it.

Oh, Boy! Hang on to something, this one’s a wild ride! When Tait takes his Biblical convictions and puts his actions where his faith is, look out! You’ll find him in some situations many in the church would find uncomfortable, inappropriate, unfortunate, etc.

The best part of the story, I think, is the ‘real-world’ examples of ‘When God convicts your heart on something, you’d better follow his leading’ and obey.

Without giving spoilers, this one’s hard to review, other than to say, READ IT! If you like:

Curl your toes contemporary romance
Good Samaritan stories
Solid male main characters
Atypical heroes (Not Tall, Dark and Handsome)
Giving people not only a chance, but a way to make the right decision
Multi-generational and Multi-cultural stories
Then you really should read this book! But you might want to read Blessing Bentley first. It’s not necessary, because Tempting Tait stands well on its own, however, the story is definitely enhanced by reading them in order!

I did receive a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, and choose to review it here. All thoughts are my own.

Can I have a moment…just to say…AWWWWWW!!!

I love Tait’s story. He’s such a lovable hero. Not perfect, not the handsome, masculine, in-your-face alpha male. He’s just Tait. Sweet, romantic, give-you-the-shirt-off-his-back hero that is absolutely perfect for this story.

There are some strong themes in Tempting Tait. I didn’t mind a bit, and I applaud the straightforward approach and never give in attitude that Tait displayed when confronted with behavior he could not condone. Harsh truth, gently spoken.

Several times, this book made me sit back and really think about myself. Which I love. That’s when I know a story has really struck home, when I can apply it to my own life.

Oh, and Maya! So much fun and a compliment to Tait in every way.

I requested a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. I was not required to leave a positive review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

I haven’t stayed up so late

since before COVID. Books haven’t held as much attention as they usually do. This one did. From the start, Tait, a far less-than-traditionally attractive hero obeys a call to save an unborn child despite many reservations and fears. Readers fall half in love with Tait’s precious sacrificial heart and the way he stands up for himself at the exact moments he needs to—long before his romance story even begins! The depth of love for his daughter is downright swoon worthy, so only a heroine like who sees that quality and finds it as appealing as the reader will do. Enter Maya. Bold, colorful, enchanting Maya. Chemistry, anticipation that will kill you, and a pair of hearts who long to serve Jesus as HE calls despite contradictory church priorities make for one of the sweetest romances I’ve read in a while. So good.

If I had a daughter I would want her to marry someone just like Tait. He stole my heart the minute he helped a young woman who he knew nothing about. Eden plays a pivotal part in this story. Through her we see the goodness in Tait. Some may say he is a geek, not so tall and a house that is half finished, but Jesus says to look on the inside. There you will find the true heart of a person.

The story is a look at several things. Let’s start with Eden. Now she is alone, pregnant and just been literally dumped on the side of the road. I can hear it now, “Well she should have listened to her mom. That boy is no good and will end up leaving Eden.” But what if God had a divine appointment for Eden on a certain day when Tait was there to witness her being tossed out of a car? I love the way the author uses Tait to demonstrate that God calls us to help others without prejudice. I cried during most of the story not because it was sad, but because I was being shown what a Christian should do and how they do it without judgment.

Tait has a heart for babies and is very convicted over abortion. I know this is a hot subject for some but the author lets us see how a person can love the unwanted. The moment Tait utters the words “I will adopt the baby,” my heart rejoiced. It’s not often that someone will take on a responsibility that he has committed to. I’m not sure if I wanted Eden to want her child or to leave and let Tait do what he was called to do. I think the little girl in me that so desperately wanted my mom to want me hurt for Haven who Eden was ready to walk away from.

I loved the last part of the book because we meet a woman who is so opposite Tait yet seems to have the same heart for helping others. Maya is a spitfire at times but a marriage is in the works. Oh how I loved reading how Tait and Maya go through counseling and meet each other’s parents. I couldn’t get enough of seeing how they compliment each other. Maya became to really grow on me as I realized how compassionate she was about other people. The story is one I need to cherish for awhile. Let us remember that somewhere out there are people who need to know Jesus. We can’t let one opportunity pass us without reaching out in love to those who feel unwanted, neglected, unloved and with no hope.

“We’re more concerned with avoiding bad appearances than we are with doing loving things.”

THIS FUN SUMMER READ WAS MORE THAN I BARGAINED FOR

I've been waiting to read Tempting Tait ever since I met Tait in Blessing Bentley...which I just realized I haven't actually reviewed yet.  #BecauseTooManyBooks.  At that point, all we knew was that Tait dropped off Bentley's radar when he got preoccupied with some girl staying at his house. That had to be trouble. And when you look at the cover, even if you've never read Chautona Havig before, you just know this is going to be a fun read.  And it was. But it turned out to be so much more.

HUMOR IS SERIOUSLY IMPORTANT

I spent this weekend at the SoCal Christian Writers' Conference.  Virtually, at least, because "Uncle 'Rona" aka COVID is still messing with all of our plans.  Bill Myers talked about how we need to have some humor around serious topics.  A little comedy helps us get at the tough issues through the back door, so to speak, rather than hitting them head-on. Those tough (or sometimes awkward) subjects sneak under our skin in ways that a 3 point sermon never well. This is the kind of writer Chautona Havig is - and the kind I hope I am, too.  Ms. Havig is not afraid to tackle really tough stuff, or even go against the grain, and have fun doing it. I think every book of hers is a fun read (though to be fair, I haven't read them all...yet), but each one has also challenged my thinking or opened my eyes in some way too.

TEMPTING TAIT IS NO EXCEPTION.

This book has us questioning how far we should go to be the good Samaritan, what pro-life might really mean, and even the "traditional" ways of finding a spouse. But it also has us waking up the neighbors laughing in the middle of the night.  And Tait?  The nerdy accountant who looks the part?  Well, let's just say he has more character in his fingernail than most guys I've met.  Definitely swoon-worthy.  Girls, there really are good guys out there. Just take Ms. Havig's word for it.

If you love a romance that isn't sure it's a romance for the first half of the book, if you think awkward small towns and family stories are the best, or even if you're just ready to see the whole dating scene turned on its head, you'll love this book as much as I did.

I received an advance copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Wow!

My rating is 4.5 stars

Though he was only a new believer, Tait lived his faith. I'm not saying he was perfect - he wasn't. Yet he had strong convictions that he worked to live out. Every day. Not only did he take Eden, a complete stranger into his house because she was in need and nobody else would, when Eden planned to abort the baby she discovered she was carrying, he was so convinced it was the wrong thing to do, he agreed to pay all her expenses and then adopt the child when it was born.

Who does that?

Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well, keep warm and well fed," but then does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?"

James 1:15 NIV

Oh, right!

I loved that about Tait. I also was so glad the author didn't make him all out handsome with bulging muscles and ... True to form, she didn't focus on the physical attraction but the beauty of his heart. Ladies, if you want to have reason to swoon over a man, the way they are inside is what you should be looking for! His kindness and determination to do the right thing, even when those around him condemned him made him all the more wonderful in my eyes. And then, the way he adored Eden's baby, Haven, from the moment he chose to adopt her. Wow!

I'm afraid to say much more - so I don't give the story away. I will mention that I was caught completely off guard about halfway through by the twist in the story. I went on for chapters expecting the path to head back where I was expecting it to go. And yet it didn't!

Tempting Tait was not only an enjoyable story, it was also a fascinating look into what could happen when a man chooses to live what he believes - even when it isn't easy. And one that will make you swoon over the sweet kind of love a daddy has for his little girl.

I read and loved Bentley’s story. In the back of the book was a teaser chapter from Tempting Tait. Of course, I read it. And then I sat and sat and sat and waited for this book to come out!

Chautona Havig is a wonderful author and I love how she weaves together stories. She takes people that are abrasive and we wouldn’t normally like and somehow makes them central to the story so we have to at least get along with them. And then, she just makes the story so convincing you can see it happening and imagine being there. These are the best types of stories. Plus of course, her stories are a bit different than what most are used to. They are very rooted in faith and bring out concepts that maybe you’ve never thought of.

Tempting Tait focuses on Tait and his life. When he makes the decision to save a girl he watches thrown from a vehicle and then run over he doesn’t know how much his life is going to be changed. And Eden, well she didn’t know she was actually telling the truth when she told her boyfriend she was pregnant and started the chain of events.

Eden wants out of this one-horse town and this guy who she’s not sure what to make of. He could be a serial killer, but everyone seems to think highly of him. And he doesn’t strike her as the type to take advantage of her. Plus, the kicker here, he reads women’s romance fiction! I mean come on, really.

So many laughs. I laughed my way through this book. Especially at the end when Tait begins to contemplate his own marriage of conviction and all the fun that ensues there. Oh, and did I mention that Tait does indeed have his own little secret life apart from his accounting? You’re going to love this book!

I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series because I’m sure it will be wonderful. You definitely need to read Tempting Tait. Read Bentley’s story too. Or really anything by this author and you won’t be disappointed.

How far would you be willing to go to help someone? I found this book a great opportunity to think this through. I loved that Tait Stedtmann was willing to help Eden after watching her foot crushed by her boyfriend’s car when he abandoned her at the rest stop. Tait took her to the hospital in his hometown, paid for the expenses, and gave her a place to stay since no one else could be bothered to or was able.

Tait is a short, geeky accountant. He does not have a lot of money. But, he pays the medical bills for Eden’s broken foot. When they discover she became pregnant just before being dumped by her boyfriend, Eden plans to have an abortion. Tait is adamant that the baby’ life matters too. He convinces her to give the baby a chance at life and let him adopt the baby.

The sweetest thing was how much Tait came to care for the baby. He tries to find a wife to help share the responsibilities of caring for the baby. It was a very cute romance. It took him time to accept his fiancé really was interested in him.

I love how the author uses uncustomary characters not typical genre characters. Tempting Tait is funny besides the inspiring parts of the story. It’s a must read!

Tempting Tait is a Christian contemporary romance novel by author Chautona Havig. It is the second book in her Marriages of Conviction series. It can easily be read as a stand-alone, but readers would benefit from reading book one, Blessing Bentley, because it was great!

This is the story of Tait Stedtmann. He is the kind of sweet guy that every mother prays her daughter will marry. I love his multi-layered personality and that he is willing to be used by God. He is a accountant, wannabe handyman, fairly new Christian, and a bit of a nerd. The best part of Tait is he lives his faith.

It is also the story of Eden. Tait witnesses her being tossed out of a car and left. He comes to her rescue only to find she is a feisty, unmarried pregnant walking ultimatum. If Tait doesn’t adopt her baby, she will abort it.

The characters are relatable and realistic. They became my friends before the end of the book. I wanted to go to their church and out to lunch with them. The author had me invested in their lives early and until the end of the book.

Whenever I pick up a book by author Havig, I am certain of two things - I will be entertained and my soul will be fed. The spiritual messages in her books are glorious. Tempting Tait is no exception for a thought provoking, WWJD, what would I do situation.

The situations, rescue, and Christian responses have stayed with me even though it has been a long time since I finished the book. It made me question the depth of my walk and if I helped others enough. What about judging?

I highly recommend this phenomenal book. It is laced with humor, scripture, life lessons, and faith. I was entertained, encouraged, enlightened, and educated. Most everyone will love this fabulous Christian story. It gets a 5 out of 5 star rating from me. A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit but these are my honest words.

I loved reading Blessing Bentley perhaps six months or more ago, and when I recently realized I was in something of a reading slump, I chose Tempting Tait as my next book. I knew it was a good choice—even before I started reading it!—but I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, and now I’m feeling up for another good read! Yay! Funny how different books can affect you that way….

But yes. This one. I didn’t expect it to take nearly all of the twists and turns it did, but oh, it was so good! I loved watching Tait work through his convictions and decide to do what was right, even though it wasn’t easy, and I loved the result of his decisions!

One of my favorite things about Tempting Tait was that Tait didn’t back down from his convictions, even when it was difficult for him. He wanted life for his little girl, and he made sure that she had every chance at that—even though her birth mother would have rather just move on. I loved seeing him work through that—and then seeing him delight in her after she was born, even though she really struggled to sleep at first! And then when he realized God made wives for a reason...that was special. I also enjoyed the few mentions of his work; that was quite relatable!

It’s hard to know how to best classify this book because it doesn’t fit in many of the boxes I’m familiar with. Suffice to say that if you have a heart for the unborn, read this story. If you want to be challenged to live your life fully for Christ—and live out in principle what you believe in theory—this may be a good encouragement that way. I found the story gripping, and the plot sound. Recommended!

I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it.

"'A significant part of loving someone is making the decision to do it'. He grimaced. 'And if that isn't the most unflattering way to convince someone to give you a chance. I don't know what is.'"

Tait Steidtmann was a nerd, but a nerd with convictions. He lives by himself with his dog Bea, in a half completed revamp of a house he owns outright. He's an accountant, fairly self sufficient, and loves to read....romances. He doesn't date but he wants to be a father and a husband someday. He attends church, part of where his convictions were born, and turns to G-D often for guidance. He's also someone who has plans and mostly sticks to them...until he comes to the rescue of a young woman in a rest area after she is dumped by her boyfriend- literally. The challenges that puts into his life are world changing.

Do his beliefs have legs when the rest of his "world" might question them? That's the premise of this, the second of a series by Chautona Havig, one of my favorite authors in this genre. Set once again in the fictional area of Rockford, Chautona's writing takes us into contentious areas of major conflict but tames it with love. Tait loves G-d, love's G-d's tenants as he and his community believe them to be, as long, as someone says in the book that "it doesn't upset their tidy little boxes where everything is supposed to fit". The challenges Havig presents are those we can argue with or learn from. Tait is a man willing to take a chance. Are you? Highly recommended 5/5

He chose to be a dad before he realized he’d need a wife, too.

When Tait took in an abandoned girl, he had no idea it would change his life.

Tait Stedtmann–accountant, fledgling do-it-yourselfer, and all-around nice guy. He’d been more than a little interested in Bentley Girard and had finally worked up the courage to ask her out. That was before that fateful day at the rest stop when he saw a girl shoved from a car and abandoned there.

She’s not like any girl he’s ever met, and now she’s given him an ultimatum. Adopt her baby, or she’ll abort it.

Eden doesn’t think he’ll do it. She can have the abortion and move on with her life–far away from these creepy Christians in Fairbury. But when Tait agrees, she finds herself keeping her word… and the pregnancy.

Nine months later, Tait is wracked by guilt as relief sets in when Eden leaves and terrified as he decides he can’t do this daddy thing alone. Bentley figured out how to make marriage happen for her.

Would she help him, find someone, too?

Tempting Tait is the second in the Marriages of Conviction series.

My Thoughts: This is a wonderful book, full of humor but also covers a very delicate topic of abortion. Chautona Havig has a way with words. She has a way of inserting humor into her storyline which makes for some wonderful reading. The characters are great; one can not help but love Tait. He's the all-round gentleman that women just love. Despite such a controversial topic, this book is fun to read. This is one that you won't want to miss.

Tempting Tait is a novel that tells of an unconventional marriage of convenience story and of unusual life choices. It is a contemporary story that shows what doing and living the Christian life would look like instead of just preaching it. Being the Christ follower and showing it in the sacrifices of our livelihood, finances, and ourselves.

Tait has his entire life changed when he decides to step in and rescue Eden after she is thrown from her boyfriend's car. Little does he know the sacrifices he is about to make, nor is he forewarned. He just acts. He is a bit quirky but he has a really good heart and he honestly is trying to live out his faith. And meeting Eden gives him chance after chance.

This book read like a two part story. Once you start and kind of wonder if the story is going to go one way, we are thrown for a surprise as that is not the road the author takes. I know I was kind of hoping for one resolution but a much better one happened to come along. No more hints, but I do recommend picking this one up and being entertained for awhile.

This is another author Havig story that not only entertains but shows convicting truth as well, in a nice way.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

I've been waiting for Tait's story ever since reading Chautona Havig's first Marriage of Convenience book (Blessing Bentley). In that book, I really liked Tait, and was extremely curious about his own story. Tempting Tait was worth waiting for! I always enjoy reading this author's books because I can count on her to do a fantastic job developing realistic characters, creating plot lines that keep the reader engaged, and integrating issues of faith in a real and encouraging way. This book tackles some really hard and polarizing issues, but in a way that isn't divisive. With the the focus on putting action to your faith, and being willing to sacrifice for what you really think is right, Chautona Havig encourages her readers to act- to do something positive even when things feel helpless. In light of all going on in today's world, this book reminded me that I am able to make a difference. But there's more to this book than this- the sweet romance scenes made me catch my breath, the dynamic among the various characters is engaging, and even though it tackles some hard issues, it is also funny. I highly recommend this book!

I can always count on books by Chautona Havig having a somewhat different approach than most that I read. Tempting Tait is definitely one of those with its unusual approach to marriage. If you have already read Bentley’s story you may have a tiny idea of what Tait’s story has in store for you.

Tait is not the usual romantic hero. Girls are not falling over themselves to date him. In fact the one girl he ever dated (once) married someone else. But Tait is an upstanding guy, one with very strong convictions – and those convictions lead him to make some very interesting choices as he follows what he believes to be God’s plan for his life.

Overall, the tale moves along at a decent pace with plenty of angst as well as humorous moments to keep it interesting. At times Tait’s approach to life can be a little frustrating, but hey, you have to respect a guy who stands up for what he believes. Tait never wavers. A cute story, Tempting Tait also deals with a very serious problem in our country, an issue on which more of us should take a stronger stand. Hopefully readers will be challenged and inspired by Tait’s story.

What I think you should know:
Tempting Tate by Chautona Havig is the second book in the Marriages of Conviction series. It is set in Havig's Rockland and has a timeline that runs dual to the first book in the series Blessing Bentley. I highly recommend reading Blessing Bentley prior to reading this story so that all of the things in this story make sense.

What I think you should know:
This story does include pregnancy out of wedlock and talks about abortion.

What I think about this book:
I have been waiting for this book since reading Blessing Bentley , a year ago! It was everything I wanted and MORE! Havig wrote a book that was fun to read, but contained a VERY powerful message. Tait choose to live in a very uncomfortable situation in order to get a teen mom to carry her baby to term rather than having an abortion. I love how Havig showed how the church is often Pro Life, but more concerned with impressions than they are actually doing what it takes to save lives. This is a book that will stick with me for a very long time. Tait may very well be one of my favorite characters ever! I am so excited about the next book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Another sweet and thought-provoking book by Chautona Havig. This new series has me reviewing my thoughts on many things. I’m loving the convictions and determinations these characters are having. The ideas are different, but yet, the same. The author has presented real deep social issues and brought out beautiful examples of how we can provide a solution.
I love it when I read a book and it sort of “hits me in the face,” as well as, entertains me. This is one of those books, and Chautona Havig is one of those authors. Her books are always clean reads and so very intriguing.
Chuatona Havig has done it again with this new series it has wonderful characters who are believable, fun, very interesting, and never boring. Chautona Havig always knows how to create clean reads with wonderful characters and settings. I also got a kick out of the tense between all the characters. Tait just wants to be doing the right thing, but sometimes it’s hard.
I look forward to reading more stories involving some of the characters in this book!
Now, to wait until the new books come out!
If you like clean thought-provoking books that will delight you and keep you reading until you finish it in one day, then this is the book for you!

'At five-foot, eight inches and just barely a hundred forty pounds, Tail Stedtmann wouldn't inspire confidence in a larger child, much less a young woman.'

Tait Stedtmann doesn't seem to be a hero or a lady-killer by his physical appearance but he is definitely both! Tait is a Christian who has strong beliefs about abortion and about the sanctity of marriage and he's someone we would all want our daughters to marry. How many men would be willing to save a baby from being aborted by agreeing to adopt that baby even though he doesn't have marriage, or even a girlfriend, on his radar? How many Christians would actually risk their reputation to do the right thing?

Tait experiences many humorous moments with Eden and her baby, Haven, and his surprising 'marriage of conviction' and its consequences had me laughing out loud. The strength of Tempting Tait, however, is its subtle, but powerful, faith message. Author Chautona Havig has written a heartwarming, thought-provoking book and I recommend it to all who enjoy contemporary Christian romance.

I received a copy of this book from the author via Celebrate Lit. A positive review wasn't required and these are my own thoughts.

Here’s what I always love about Chautona Havig’s books: The storylines do not always follow a predictable path; the basis of the storylines are going to be guided by Biblical principles; and I’m going to love the characters in the book. All of this is true in this book that’s the second in the “Marriage of Conviction” series.

The message of this book is VERY pro-life, and as I whole-heartedly agree with that viewpoint, I was cheering for Tait as he completely changed his life to save Eden’s baby by being willing to adopt and become a single dad. He didn’t have to do that. The faith message of this book is to BE part of the answer to a need, not just talk about it.

This book has it’s fun moments, too, and I loved the sweet, funny, and entertaining romance that grew between Tait and Maya. If you think that Hallmark fiction is the master of the “interrupted kiss”, Chatutona Havig has shown them just how to take that to another level. I’m glad I read Tait and Maya’s story about their “marriage of conviction” to help save the baby. (Be sure and read the author’s comments at the end of this blog.

This contemporary novel, part of the Marriages of Conviction series by Chautona Havig, takes place pretty much at the same time as Blessing Bentley, and sets the stage for the next book in the series. There are connections to characters in the greater Rockland area and situations from previous books that a reader of Havig's books would notice, but anyone could pick up this book and enjoy it thoroughly.

Tait was a great guy! Kind of nerdy, not so handsome, but smart, capable, and thoughtful. He lived out his convictions, which he proved in many tangible ways throughout the story. My opinion of him just grew better and better as I read the book. I loved how he and Bentley actually became friends throughout the course of the book.

I love each visit to the Rockland area in Havig's books. This was another meaty, but lovable, and unforgettable story. I really loved this book, and recommend it to readers of contemporary fiction and contemporary romance.

I received an eARC of this book from the author, through Celebrate Lit, for review purposes. The thoughts expressed here are my own.

Chautona Havig has a way of writing books that make me think but also enjoy to the fullest. I love the depth of the characters and the storylines she creates.

As Christians, we are called to a greater purpose than non-Christians. We are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus and do His will. So when Tait witnesses a woman be thrown out of a car by her boyfriend and have her foot run over, Tait steps in to take care of her. He takes her into her home, pays her hospital bills, and more.

Then when she later discovers she is pregnant, he agrees to take on the responsibility of raising the baby as a single dad if she will not have an abortion. Having witnessed a good friend and potential interest marry for convictions rather than convention, he allows her to find a potential bride for him.

I love the potential bride's family, especially the grandmother. The grandmother is so feisty.

So if you enjoy books that take a non-traditional but Biblical view towards marriage, check out this book for yourself.

Tempting Tait is the second book in the Marriage of Convictions series. I recommend reading them in order to avoid spoilers.

This series is very unique. Tait's marriage of conviction is different from Bentley's in the first book. Tait's conviction is that abortion is wrong, and if we believe it, then we need to be willing to make sacrifices to prevent abortions.

Tait rescues Eden after her boyfriend dumped her out of his car. Eden is hurt, and Tait wants to help get her back on her feet. Little did they know, she was pregnant. Eden wants an abortion and doesn't want to be straddled with a child. Tait is not willing to pay for the abortion, nor take her to the clinic; he sticks to his convictions.

It's interesting to see how Tait goes about finding a wife. What I appreciate about this series is that it doesn't follow a formula and is therefore unpredictable. There is a great cast of characters, and the story moves quickly. Poor Tait could be so dense, but he finally figures things out.

Chautona Havig is my favorite author, and this book is definitely one of my favorites that she’s written! I’ve been waiting for it for a year, and it was well worth the wait!

It is the second of the series, but it can stand on its own – just be aware that there are plenty of spoilers for the first book in here!

I fell in love with the characters, and I loved the way the author showed how we as Christians are supposed to treat each other: loving sacrificially! Tait did things that Christians should do, but very few actually do do. It was challenging to my faith while also keeping me emotionally involved, laughing, sitting on the edge of my seat… and making me want to hug the book when I finished. I highly recommend this book and I know that I will be reading it many, many more times!

Tempting Tait continues Chautona Havig's Marriages of Conviction series. I have yet to read the first book, Blessing Bentley, and feel that this one can be read as a stand alone. I thought this story was great. It was a fun, delightful, and entertaining read with lots of laughs. It was not one that I found to be predictable which was great and refreshing. I love the element of faith within its pages. I was captivated from start to finish. I loved it!
I am giving Tempting Tait five stars. I look forward to reading the first book from the Marriages of Conviction series, Blessing Bentley. I, also, will be anxiously waiting for the third installment to be released in the near future. I highly recommend this one for readers who enjoy clean contemporary romances.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
