I absolutely loved this book! So interesting and attention grabbing. Could not put it down.
Full of problems, hospitals, cockroaches with guns and explosions.
I can not wait to see who gets a happily ever after next.

This story had so much potential to be a thoughtful exploration of consent and life after abuse/slavery but instead has a super cringey start that almost made me DNF it and be one of Those People who write an angry rant based on the first 10-30% of a book without seeing how things resolve.
So.
There are a lot of stories out there that involve abducted human women who were kept as sex slaves—it's a trope in and of itself in this genre and more than a few prominent author's bread and butter—but in this one, then-36 year old Carrie was deemed too old to sexually use, so she was kept on as some type of slave-nanny and maid to an alien captor. It's our male lead, Ssly, who was sexually abused for years and has a lot to heal from...to reclaim his body from being used by others.
And that's where this story seriously missteps. More than one author in this genre seems to think that if the sexual aggressor is a human woman, it's A-OK to be pushy and not respect boundaries. And how our society frames sexual predation, they seem to overwhelmingly agree on that. But there's no softer way to put it: in the beginning of this story, Carrie is a sexual predator and is really rapey in her interactions with Ssly. Every time he gave her a boundary, she plowed right through it, because it didn't make her happy. And...y'all....
He tells her he's not interested and wants to be left alone—she makes it a point to be around him more.
He tells her they're even and again, to leave him alone—she presses harder, because she's not happy with how he'll not accept her apology the way She Wants...because she needs to feel better from him rather than reflecting on her own actions and accepting it's OK for him to not want to forgive her.
He hints at her to find information that his people have a history of being kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery for their physical attributes in the hopes that she'll stop pursuing him—she becomes more fixated, aggressive, and determined to bed him.
He agrees to some physical intimacy and sets boundaries for how he wants to be touched—She tells him she's doing in anyway, and those boundaries may as well not even be there. But anything she asks for, he sure as heck stuck to them.
Please. Just. Stahp.
None of the above was a good thing. It could have still been in the story, but utilized to shape the narrative into a more positive one...rather than just eventually dropping it and having him do the classic 180 turn from No to I'm Super Into This Now And Never Felt Violated In The First Place. So instead of thoughtful discussion of consent and our gender biases about it, all we came away with was, "if you act like a predatory, rapey dude, eventually you'll get everything you want."
It was a serious let down.
The rest of the story is a cute and fun caper that leads into a sweet story about family and coming home after a negative, life-changing event. I really liked all of Ssly's family, his relationship with adopted daughter, Tru, and how he does eventually get to take back ownership of his own body. But it was super gross to get there, and I'm not sure even the author realizes how wrong that all was.
I think this story would have benefited greatly from more thoughtful feedback from alpha readers , a longer development process, and time to reflect and edit/revise a few times. There's a potentially wonderful story in here.

Another wonderful read! The story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I couldn't help but feel such deep sadness at the idea of such a young child being taken from her family and everything she knows to be forced into slavery. But thank goodness for Ssly! And how could I not fall in love with him knowing he had rescued her from things I don't even want to think about? And he can cook too. Any male who can cook is a hero in my book just for that alone. Carrie's relationship with Ssly, if it could be called a relationship, starts off not exactly the most perfect romantic beginning. But it's certainly entertaining. After a lot of awkwardness it builds into something meaningful and romantic. (I received a copy of Ssly for my honest review.)

This is the third book in the Galaxy Pirates Series. It features Ssly and Carrie, one of the rescued girls from the prior books. I really like the connection between Ssly and Carrie. They were both prior slaves that are now free and looking to move on. There is some racing, intrigue, action, thieving, betrayal, and romance all packed into this story. I finished it in one setting. Loved how the characters were also not instant love and took the time to get to know one another. Another great read! I received an ARC for an honest review.

The action starts at the beginning. You can feel the tension during the races, the mistrust and intense anger at a misunderstood situation. This mistrust goes both ways. There’s a lot I really enjoyed in this book: the fact that Tru is trying match her dad and Carrie; that Carrie offers to cook a meal for Ssly, but he ends up cooking for her; the slow, cautious buildup of intimacy between them; and that more action and danger is on the way.

Alright, so this series? It’s like my go-to snack: maybe not the healthiest choice for my sleep schedule, but impossible to put down. Every book in this series is totally unique—each adventure has its own flavor, and it keeps things fresh. If you love a slow-burn romance, insane twists, and villains that make you want to throw your Kindle across the room… welcome to your next binge-read.
Now, this story takes its sweet time getting to the good stuff romance-wise, but oh boy, is it worth the wait. Like, you’ll be practically yelling “Just kiss already!” while trying not to skip ahead. The setbacks? Heartbreaking. But once they finally get their happiness, you’ll be all smiles.
Plus, the villains here? Absolute trash fires, but in the best way possible. You’ll love to hate them, which just makes every hard-won victory that much sweeter.
So, while it didn’t quite reach my all-time-fave status, this book (and the whole series, really) delivers solid entertainment, lots of "OMG" moments, and characters you can’t help but root for. If you’re into wild plots, slow-burn romance, and roller-coaster emotions, grab the popcorn and dive in.

I really enjoyed reading Ssly soon after reading book two in the series - Thantose. Although I do think these books work well as standalone books, I’d always recommend reading as a part of the series as you get to know characters in previous books and it adds to the enjoyment of reading each characters book.
Ssly was a little different from other books by Alana in that it was a lot more based around the emotional relationship development between himself and Carrie rather than the sexual which I think worked so well for them as a couple especially with their past experiences and their personal situations.
I really liked the whole family aspect of this book from Ssly and Tru having a small family unit of two and seeing how it grows to encompass Carrie and Ssly’s family later on. I found the father-daughter bond to be especially endearing and enjoyed that aspect of the story, particularly as it was between a man and his non-biological daughter.
All in all I really enjoyed the storyline and characters and as always, can’t wait to see where Alana will take these books next!

This book wonderfully written with twist and turns that you won't see coming!
When Carries first meets Ssly and Tru, she not only thinks they're both men but lovers as well. Still, she finds herself attracted to Ssly.
After Tru is hurt competing in a race, the truth comes out and Carrie convinced Ssly is a pedophile, not only attacks him physically but wants him off the ship. After finding out she's wrong, she wants to make it up to him. Plus she's even more attracted to him.
Ssly is attracted to Carrie also, but because of his past he thinks she just wants to use him like his past owners did. (His kind is well know throughout the galaxy for their sexual prowess, the size of their,,uh junk, as well as having a tail that they bring into bed play.)
Tru gets worse a Carrie agrees to pose as her parent to get her admitted to a children's hospital, since Ssly can't pull it off. They all have to go into quarantine and become closer, much closer.
Money problems arise and Ssly has to turn to the head of the MarZan cartel, Daneur Khour! ( If you're a true fan, you already know. If you're not, this mother-dracker Khour is the type of being that would have his own mother slowly skinned alive if she was standing in the way of something he wanted. And watch!)
Ssly and Carrie have to work together, although her 'Regurgitation Equation' (i love that) is tested.
Secrets of the past, fight or flight and double crosses are plentiful in this one folks!

I really loved this book it grabbed my interest right from the very first page. These two really were made for each other.
Carrie is a beautiful, kind, loving and feisty woman who thinks she will never find a soul mate. Ssly is alpha male who has been a slave for many years and whi is finally free but does not want or think he needs a mate.
When these two mate all that changes specially when Ssly's adopted daughter is injured and in need of medical care.
This book has it all, romance, humor, danger, hot hot sensual moments and best of all an amazing HEA. I highly recommend this book and this author to everyone who loves scifi romances. Be sure to pick up a copy you will be very very glad that you did.

I really enjoy this author’s writing and this story is a great addition. The main characters are both escaped slaves and so have a great empathy for each other’s pain. I found it an interesting flip that it is the male lead who has been a sex slave and this influences his actions regarding relationships with females.
I liked that the adopted daughter is an active part of their relationship, not just a plot point, and that her emotional needs had a great bearing on the leads’ actions.
The resolution for where and how to live suits the characters and made me feel happy.
I’m amused that the author now has a recurring bad guy. I do wonder if she’ll ever get rid of him - he is terribly convenient...

I really loved this story. I liked that it was different from the others. The aspect of family really appealed to me. Being 35 myself, the fact that the love interest was older too, i really enjoyed. Ssly is really loving and caring. I loved the acceptance of others differences and that family is more than just blood. I also loved Ssly family. Really great story. It had love, it was sexy, it has action and adventure. One of my favs from Alana so far. I highly recomend it. I received and advanced copy and this is my honest review.

This author is an auto buy for me but this book was one of my favorites. Ssly is the perfect man and having a more mature woman instead of a perfect 20 year old was so great. I like the depth of the characters in her books and the emotional journey always feels real. Loved this.

What a great story. Ssly is suspicious of females as he thinks they just want to use him for sex. He was after all a sex slave for many years. He frees himself and a lovely 6 yr old human girl and raises her. Then he meets Carrie and he slowly learns to trust again as they fall in love. Wonderful love story and a happy family ending.

Loved the slow burn of Carrie and Ssly. In a galaxy of so many beings you never know who you may connect with. This couple hit a few bumps along the way yet found a connection worth fighting for. I enjoyed their fun banter and focus on caring for those important to them.

Danger, sabotage, stealing, a gunfight, betrayal and finding love - everything you need for the perfect romance. The characters are believable and have to deal with everyday emotions and situations. Awesome
I absolutely adore this series. Each couple goes through a lot of unnecessary struggles only to realize they are perfect for each other. Carrie was an older human abducted and sold into slavery. She in intensely attracted to the alien called Ssly but he is dealing with his own issues and thinks she likes him because of space gossip about his sexual ability. To be honest there were a couple of times when I wanted to bang their heads together and wake them both up to what was obvious to everyone else. I laughed and cheered them on in their escapades and loved their HEA. We still a few crew members to pair up though...

Secrets & abused for years - Can he trust Carrie to save Tru?
This is the third story in the spin-off Galaxy Pirates series. While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that it be read in publication date order in conjunction with the original. There are multiple reoccurring characters, concurrent / consecutive timelines (begins after Dax) and overarching themes that are built from the foundation laid by the first story (Zar) in the original (Galaxy Guardians) series. Although they are recapped, there are also a lot of details that occurred previously that would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.
** There are multiple scenes, dark themes and references to subjects that will be difficult for sensitive readers. These include abduction, enslavement, forced mating, mental health challenges, and trafficking. A high-level list is included below. **
— Although I try to watch it, if you have not read this (or the previous stories in the series), the following may contain spoilers. —
There is a beautiful dichotomy to Ssly that just drew me to his character. On the outside he is everything an alpha, protective male should be, but it is all to protect Tru. On the inside he distrusts because he has been used and abused since his abduction from his planet. Lots of emotions, but also a lot of action and adventure. The descriptions of the chariot races in the beginning made me feel like I was watching them myself.
The characters and universe are so well developed, with rich emotions that I have come to associate with Alana Khan’s stories. It just makes them come to life and feel like friends by the end. This is the reason I upset my entire TBR list so I can read her entire catalogue (so worth it btw if you are wondering).
I mention the following for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow. There are a few grammatical issues that include incorrect punctuation, missing word or incorrect tense, inconsistencies with data regarding a character description, word meaning ‘hour’ and formatting with possessive words ending in ‘s’. All in all, nothing difficult to interpret. I uploaded my notes to goodreads for anyone interested.
Carrie knows she is running out of time to either find a mate on the ship, or determine a planet to settle. Captain Thantose gave the rescued women a three-month time limit and it is now going on five. There just isn’t anyone in the crew that she is drawn to, especially since Ssly paid for passage five days ago. He has definitely woken up her libido. Carrie was fortunate that she was thirty-six when she was abducted, as her ‘owner’ considered her too old for his brothels. Yeah! Something great about being older!
Carrie loves to sing and goes to the cargo bay at night, as to not assault anyone’s ears. Ssly and his companion, Tru, sleep on the ground by their hover chariots, even though they were assigned a cabin when they boarded. They are always working on them during the day and keep to themselves the rest of the time. They must be lovers from how close they lay at night, plus he is so much younger. So why can’t Carrie get over her fascination with Ssly?
Then they arrive on the planet where Ssly and Tru are going to be racing as part of the gladiator games. Carrie is anxious before the race begins and wishing she had binoculars when Ssly removes the long fabric wrap he wears all the time. Then the race starts and her anxiety turns to fear … it isn’t like anything she has ever seen before! Ssly takes a more defensive position and waits until the last lap to make his move.
Then it is time for Tru. After watching Ssly’s race, Carrie is really worried about how Tru is going to be able to handle bumping and grinding with the other chariots, especially with his smaller and more slender stature. Then it begins … an opponent hits into Tru pretty quick, but he is able to recover. Then before long his chariot is hit again and he can’t recover quick enough. It tumbles end over end before coming to a stop and bursting into 🔥.
Ssly has risked everything to protect Tru, but will others understand if anyone discovers their secret? Ssly has learned the hard way not to trust anyone, so what happens when Carrie is the only one that can save Tru?

This is the third story in the spin-off Galaxy Pirates series. While this could be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend that it be read in publication date order in conjunction with the original. There are multiple reoccurring characters, concurrent / consecutive timelines (begins after Dax) and overarching themes that are built from the foundation laid by the first story (Zar) in the original (Galaxy Guardians) series. Although they are recapped, there are also a lot of details that occurred previously that would be lost, as they cannot be adequately explained within another story.

Ssly is a male from the planet Numa he big, green and super talented e with machines. He was stolen and sold into slavery over 12 years ago. While serving 2 perverted masters he rescued a small human girl and became a father. He escapes with her Nd they've been one the run ever since. Until he meets the crew of the pirate ship Ataraxia especially Carrie. Ssly needs to make some money so he enters a chariot race and allows his now 14 year old daughter enter as well. He wins but something goes horribly wrong with his daughters race and she's injured badly. Carrie is one of the women rescued by Thantose the captain of the pirate ship Ataraxia. She was in her late 30's when she was kidnapped and sold into slavery. When she was rescued she ended up helping the ship's medic, but she didn't feel like she fits in until Ssly comes onboard. She finds him incredibly handsome but mistakes his relationship with Tru. She ends up having to do a lot of apologizing for her assumptions. Their relationship starts of rocky, but when you've been a slave you Don't Trust Easily. Their relationship changes, grows and becomes something passionate when they learn to trust one another. Lots of adventure, dangerous moments and two hearts that learned too mistrust heal each other and learn to love. Great story and if any wait to see who falls in love next.💖💖💖💖💖

Ssly is the third book in the galaxy pirates series and is by far my favorite! It is so easy to fall in love with a guy who risks it all for his adopted child! He is smart, lovable and Ohhhh that tail! Carrie is an out spoken kind of girl who thinks she is beyond finding what she’s looking for but falls for Ssly. Together their story is fun and exciting with different twists and turns all for the sake of saving Ssly’s daughter. In the end this book is about coming together and finding family and all of the things that are important to this amazing guy! I loved the beauty of the planet, the dangerous adventure and the heartwarming conclusion. I can not wait to see what’s next in the Galaxy Pirates series!!!

Ssly. Slow burn love story. Lots of twists and turns. Really bad guys you love to hate. Great characters. Well written. Happiness will abound after quite a set back. Pirates on the ship keep surprising me. Great guys and gals.
I liked the introduction of Tru. I think I would have assumed the same thing Carrie did when she met them, Ssly and Tru. I won't give it away. Let you find out for yourself.
She had some character shifts from the female who is normally the one who has been sexually taken advantage of to the male. It gave the story line a whole different feel. I'm also glad she approached their relationship the way she did. Carries age and Ssly's past history would make it a slow burn.

Omg, Alana Khan can write! This story is a roller coaster ride of an adventure, with plenty of sweet, juicy love served up piping hot!
I love a story that’s filled with possibility, with the gratification of dreams fulfilled, don’t you?
Alana Khan never yammers on and on with details that don’t move the action forward, she never puts you to sleep with descriptions and explanations, but still, you clearly see the worlds she creates. I love that, I’m way too impatient to swallow tripe when I’m hungry for the main course, right?
You can trust Khan to take you on an exciting adventure in any book she writes, and Ssly is one of my favorites.

Cringe worthy
I like this author and her stories. This is the only book I couldn't finish. Storyline was so frustrating. I was hoping the lead female character would redeem herself but disappointed that her blatant harassment toward a male whom in the past had suffered from sexual abuse escalated through out story. He was very clear and established boundaries from the very beginning. Female lead totally disregarded his boundaries and acted like a totally perv.
I enjoy stories to escape and immerse myself into the storyline. But I just couldn't with this it wasn't fun. I guess I have set my boundaries on what type of storyline I will read.

Her and the other are at a hover race watching a stranger and his companion race ssly wins his race but things go wrong for try his companion he recks and is hurt. They rush him back to the ship but thing change when they go to treat him. He’s not a him it a human girl now Carrie is on the war path against Ssly not knowing the whole story. So enjoy the read and find out what’s up and if they get a HEA!!

This is a sweet story with family romance and suspense. You will enjoy this story which shows that love is a choice and being a good parent has nothing to do with biology. Join these characters as they struggle to love each other and form that elusive treasure called family.

The third book in the Galaxy Pirates a well written story with a great storyline. Ssly’Vestril his daughter Tru, and human Carrie's story, there is suspense, drama, danger, twists, turns, a villain,and romance., I want to read the next book. I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Love this series!!!
Each book in this series has Great stories. I didn't read them in order but that didn't make any difference.
This one has a slower time to make the connection between characters but with the best writing it doesn't matter. Characters are interesting and we'll thought out. Storyline make for a hold your interest and carry you to the end of the ride.

A lot of loose ends but otherwise a fun. I kept feeling like I had already read this book but I know I hadn't. The caper at the fancy party is a little over used in this style book maybe that is why it seems so familiar.
