I wasn't a big fan of this volume. It took me forever to even pick it back up to finish. A new character was introduced that I wasn't excited to read about. I still like all of the old characters, so I hope the third volume sticks closer to their story.

I was dreading this possibility.... but this volume wasn't as good as the first. I loved the gang from the first book, Tae, Kun Kang, and Ga-woon, but they basically only had cameos in this book. It went to the point where I actually felt NOSTALGIC when a scene with them came. Kinda weird, since I read the first volume yesterday. Someone this book had a lot more of was Jung-Woo.

Jung-Woo is a huge asshole in this really careless way that makes the girls go wild. I may or may not be included. Shh. This new girl named Que-Min is introduced and she beats some hoes who were (s)mackin' on Jung-Woo. The rest of the book is basically Que-Min following Jung-Woo and being in denial about her obsession with him. That, and this new gang is introduced and they have a problem with Jung-Woo.

This is something I never got. Why the hell are they mad at him anyway?? This is what I understood: way in the beginning when Que destroys those chicks, this gang thought Jung did it and got mad? But I don't think that's right because reasons so never mind. Colour me still confused. So this book also has a LOT of fighting in it, and I don't really get why Jung was so good at fighting?

The story was just less interesting in this one. There wasn't even much romance, just the girls wanting Ga-Woon and Kun to go homo for eachother, and some hints that Ga-Woon and Tae might be an item now. I personally ship the latter.

I didn't really care for any of the new characters, of which there was an abundance. If anything I kind of ship what happens at the end which is a spoiler so I can't say it. That was pretty much the extent of my care for these new characters. It was nice how much of a badass Que-Min was, though.

This book was pretty funny, though the humor tapered before even the halfway point I think. The way the characters talk is pretty funny in this non-serious silly way. For example, I read Body's Ghost Volume 3 recently. (Go read my review for that book once you finish this one... you know you want to.) That's a more serious series, though it definitely has it's humor. The dialogue in Kiss Me Kill Me was how I joked around pretending the dialogue to be in Body's Ghost. A character might say, "I'm gonna kill you!" and I'd be silly and think it'd be funny if they'd actually said, "I'm going to beat your skank-ass to a pulp!" or something like that. Well in Kiss Me Kill Me characters actually talked like the second quote.

"AHHHGK! MY RIBS! I'M DYIN'!"
"STOP KICKING ME, YOU WHORE!"

Those were actual quotes from the official Tokyo Pop translation. I found it funny how informal it was, and I was really happy that the dialogue wasn't censored.

Something I heard someone complain about with the first volume (of which I do not own a physical copy of) is that the text was often too close to the spine opening (I don't know what else to call it... the middle where the pages connect) and it was hard to read. Oh boy, that was VERY true with my book as well. I feel like it even gave me a bit of a headache craning my eyes to try and see the words crammed into the crack. Not fun.

I still enjoyed this book because of how wacky it is, but it just doesn't live up to it's predecessor. I have volume 3 already so I'm going to read that soon.

Only 3 volumes to finish the series. Alas, it's not worth it.

The characters are terrible and annoying, and I'm sick of both males and females using bashing terms for girls. From skank to worse. The same goes for misogynist stuff and toxic masculinity.

And the violence! It may not be graphic, but there's more of that than anything else- almost no story. Can we really say this is for a female audience?

As a note, one can read the first volume and feel like that's the (lame) end , since this volume focuses more on an annoying girl who sort of crushes, in her weird way, on Tae's cousin. If you expected Tae, Kun or Ga-Woon, they only make a small appearance.

The second volume, however, ends in that cheap way of leaving clues about dark pasts so the reader keeps buying. Despite the slogan remaining Crossdress to impress, there is none of that.

This volume was a bit too all over the place plot-wise, didn’t really follow through on much of the plot from volume one. To add to the chaos, it’s often unclear which character is saying what.

SPOILERS BELOW

The first volume focused on a girl, Tae, who swaps places with her identical male cousin, Jung-Woo, to get to know her crush, a male model classmate of his. She ends up getting beat up by a gang leader who her cousin offended when he slapped the back of a gang member who was choking and they thought he was starting a fight. After besting up Tae a few times thinking she’s Jung-Woo, the gang leader falls for her. Also, he and the male model crush are bffs. Because.

This volume sort of continues with the same characters, but shifts to Jung-Woo and some new characters to essentially use the same basic plot. It’s not really clear what is going on with Tae, if she’s dating the gang leader or still has a crush on the model. She’s in this volume, but the focus is more on a new girl, Que-Min, who is tough and a strong fighter but poses as a good girl. She beats up some girl gang members who are threatening Jung-Woo, mistaking him for a girl. Jung-Woo is just sort of nonchalant to the point of near obliviousness about everything. When Que-Min learns yet another gang is after him—supposedly because Tae pounded one of their gang members on the back thinking he was choking while posing as Jung-Woo which they mistook for trying to start a fight (yes, same thing as volume 1, but two different characters), she makes herself his bodyguard and fights the gang lackeys because she has an insta-crush on him. They don’t actually know each other, he doesn’t even know who she is, but he’s pretty boy good looking, and that's enough for her to become obsessed. When Que-Min meets the gang leader, he gives a completely different reason for why they were after Jung-Woo- claiming Jung-Woo stole his girl. I’m not sure if this was an inconsistency error, or if he insta-fell for Que-Min the moment they met and retrospectively changed the reason on the spot.

Basically, the series is just a lot of gangs running around threatening and beating up the main characters, only to end up falling for them while the main characters insta-fall for each other. There’s also a lot of mistaking males for females and vice versa and emphasis of traditional gender roles, which leads to a lot of homophobic talk, which wasn’t so uncommon when this book was published but feels outdated and offensive now.

I own the whole series, which only lasted 5 volumes, so may read the next volume to see if it pulls together, but this volume felt like a bit of a mess.

Goodreads seems to be erasing my reviews, so my retyped review for this will be alot shorter than the original one.
In this volume, Que-Min is happy to have moved to a new school, but feels like her falling for Jun-Woo will mess it all up. But, she cannot help it, since she really likes him.
But, at the end, the gang leader that had beaten Jun-Woo up ends up asking her to be his girlfriend. And, we are left hanging right there. We don't find out her decision, but we know she doesn't want to, since she likes Jun-Woo.
Excuse me, if I got either name wrong. It's been a few days since I actually read this.

This is the strange story of Jung-Woo meeting the bookish punk girl Que-Min, who falls for him, and he doesn't know her name but the gang leader Ghoon-Hahm does - and he wants to steal a girl from the pretty boy who stole his girl. Que-Min may choose the punk to save the pretty boy, and Jung-Woo may never know her name.

Questions unanswered- what girl did Jung-Woo steal from Ghoon-Hahm?

What happened to Jung-Woo's parents?

Does Jung-Woo get to keep the puppy?

Okay, this is the 2nd part, I think. I believe this is the volume when this tough girl ( something-Min) comes and falls for a useless pretty boy, basically continuing on.
The first part characters do show up every once in a while.

Why couldn't this one have featured the original characters that I came to like so much. Instead it sort of just dropped them without any definitive ending and put me into this other story altogether. Not a fan.

I'm confused about Tae and Ga-Woon, they're suddenly together when Ga-Woon confessed. What about Kun Kang? (Seriously, their names are so damn confusing. I like Japanese names more.)
