In Body Image, Relationships, and Personal Journeys to Recovery in Overeaters Anonymous, OA members tell their stories of suffering, loss, and harm--sharing how they regenerated and changed themselves; how they found renewed hope, acceptance, and strength; how they are recovering from hurting themselves and their bodies; and how their relationships with food have changed. We invite you to read these stories to find the peace, hope, and serenity OA members have found through working the Twelve Steps of Overeaters Anonymous.
This volume of Overeaters Anonymous Literature deals with Body Image, Relationships and Sexuality. Journeys to personal recovery are arduous and impactfully presented by survivors who lay bare their struggles with food as an antidote to pain. It is divided into three chapters entitled, Body Image, Relationships, and Sexuality. Though the book is under 150 pages it packs a wallop in terms of the traumas experiences by survivors. It is best explored in small doses with time for reflection.
I read this book in a group. It was great to read and great to be able to discuss the concepts in the stories. I didn't relate to details in every story, but each one held a basic truth that I did need to explore. It reminded me that no one is immune to the disease of over eating. I highly recommend this book.
Read this with my sponsor over a series of months, discussing the stories as we went. There were a lot of very inspiring shares here. I particularly loved the last story.
