Barnabas had his whole life planned out. He'd even chosen his future wife. Then the war got in the way. Things changed on the home front and he changed on the warfront. Now, war torn and weary, he is starting anew and heading West.
Dorothy lost the love of her life and father of her children to the War Between the States. She has made a life for herself and her children, and is content. Until she meets Barnabas.
Barnabas/Zeus- was in the army during the Civil war Dorthy- her husband died during the Civil War now left with 2 daughters, she sews dresses more for enjoyment but money is always needed. I enjoyed reading this engaging story with a loving hea, though it was more of an fictional tale than romance, but still good. KU
This was a good story..only had one problem…Soooo Many people had to go back and forth many times to make sure who was doing what or who belonged to who..
Barnabas had chosen his future wife. Then war and things changed. Dorothy lost the love of her life and the father of her children to the War Between the States. She has made a life for herself and her children and is content. Until she meets Barnabas.
Civil War setting. At the beginning of the book, there's a lot of telling. It moved the story ahead but didn't give the reader the "feeling" of the time. The second part went deeper. I loved the Christian and Christmas elements.
This is the third book by this author I have read. They are all very good and the story pulls you right in so you fell that your there with the characters.
I enjoy reading books that tell more about other families, that I've read about. Each one makes it more interesting and Barnabas and Dorothy fell in Love at first sight. Thank You, Elissa Strati.
This is an unusual love story. Barnabass is off to fight in the war between the states and becomes a war hero. He earns the nickname Zeus and his stallion the nickname of Thunderbolt. You will enjoy reading this adventurous and exciting tale.
