A strict professor. A shy but brilliant student. An attraction he can’t allow...

OLIVIA
All I wanted was to survive hell-oh-one: the dreaded Physiological Psychology class that also happened to be crucial for my application into the psych graduate program...
And of course, the esteemed yet very intimidating Doctor Douglas who teaches the class is also on the graduate committee, so I better do everything I can to impress him.
My GPA can handle one bad grade, but not in his class.
Besides, I actually kind of love physiological psych and I’ve been studying it pretty hard.
Some of my friends say I’m too much of a nerd and I should get a boyfriend and have more fun in college.
But I’m just too focused on schoolwork to ever be interested in any man.
At least, that’s what I thought...

SIMON
I retired from my psychiatry practice because taking on the weight of so many troubled patients just became too much to handle.
When you reach a certain level of prestige in this profession, you have to separate yourself from the practice somehow...
And sure, I feel a bit guilty for stepping out of the war zone...but my colleagues assured me that my patient list was a task that no one should be forced to undertake.
Now I am determined to teach students going into the profession to be the absolute best they can be.
I won’t accept anything less.
They call my class hell-oh-one, but psychology is a profession that requires a lot of intelligence and discipline, and the sooner students learn that, the better.
I enjoy teaching students.
I enjoy my academic research.
I enjoy my quiet bachelorhood.
And nothing is about to change that.
That was, until Olivia Andrews stepped foot in my class...

Just okay and a bit misleading.

First, I wouldn’t call Simon an Alpha. He seems to just be a regular dude.

Take note that this is a slooooow burn. Luckily, I don’t mind that but some do. However, there were some parts that dragged. Plus, there were points where it felt like the author wanted to show off their knowledge of phisio psychology. There was waaay more in there than needed to be. By the end I was skipping entire paragraphs to get to the good stuff.

The end felt super rushed and I’d call it more of a HFN than a HEA.

Honestly, the writing wasn’t great and the one smex scene had parts that came off cold and almost technical.

What I did enjoy was the concept and the story. I’m a sucker for a student teacher story, especially a slow burn.

This book was done beautifully written. I plan on going in this exact profession and I can tell the author did their homework. I learned more from this story about my own desires and I really am hoping to read more from this author. To the author, well done for inspiring my passion with a great read!

Delicious and Unforgettable!

I received this book for free with the acknowledgment that it was unedited.

I hung onto every word of this book. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. Not even to sleep! I feel, I should mention that it’s 08:00 and I started reading this at 01:30. I thought, however naively, that I’d read a chapter or two and then go to bed. Nope. I read the whole thing and I still want more!!

These two are beautiful together. The mixing of minds between his scholarly and practical experience and her intelligence and thirst for knowledge driven by a deep passion, is so intricate and nuanced that it reminds me of the tete-a-tete of Eve Dallas and Roarke from JD Robb’s ‘In Death’ series. His passion and desire for her, her budding confidence and passion for him reminds me of the relationship between Maya and Matthew from LA Pepper’s ‘Bullion Dollar Friend’. And the vibrant descriptions and emotional depth remind so very much of how Megan Blackwood wove Magdalene Shelley’s heart throughout ‘Sun Cursed’.

Olivia is a brilliant student with no confidence in herself. She is taking a killer course that is required for getting into grad school. She wants to do well because the professor needs to write a letter of recommendation for her for grad school. She also didn't expect to be attracted to the professor.

Simon has left private practice and he knows that his course is difficult and that he is demanding. What he hadn't expected was for Olivia to shine as a student - and that he would be so attracted to her.

This is an unusual love story and you're not sure how it's going to turn out. I thought it was well written and the story was intriguing and well written. I received this as a review copy and this is my honest review.

I love this trope. There's something about the forbidden nature of student/teacher and how the conflict is resolved that I'm curious about. This is a short read so although there's a large portion detailing how the attraction evolves I found the resolution lacking. But I did find the mature approach unique. It was just a short time to have such a slowburn. I liked it.
