His father and two best friends are still missing, and a Dark Magical, Damon has created an army that is wreaking havoc across Andar, driving the regions closer to civil war.

My name is Laura M. Drake, and I'm the youngest of five kids. I grew up in Arkansas and moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University. After spending three summers abroad in France, Japan, and China, I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education and began teaching 4th grade near Salt Lake City. A few years later I moved back to Japan to fulfill a life-long dream of living there. When Covid got bad, I came back to America and have been living in Arkansas and writing full-time ever since. I'll soon be moving to UT and look forward to the new adventures that await me there. When I'm not writing (which isn't very often--I should probably get a life haha) I love playing ultimate frisbee, board games, writing in my journal, and spending time with friends and family.

I read this book when I was pregnant and incapable of sleeping. Not only was it a great read but it also very effectively distracted me from my insomnia which is a huge deal.

I love that it picked up right where the first one left one and that the author chose not to spend the first three chapters re-capping the first book. It has a good host of pretty well-developed characters that tend to suck you in and keep you reading. I loved the story, it new and creative, and well written.

I can't wait for the third to come out.

OMG! I absolutely loved book one so quite happily dove into this book two and it did not let me down! Told from Gray’s pov this time, (book one was told from Emmie’s pov) we carry on from where book one left us and i have to say the author has done a great job. We get a bit more background in to Ander and it’s people and the magic, there’s fighting and lots of trouble, there’s mystery and intrigue, there friendship, family and loyalty and it’s such a great read. The world building continues to be extraordinary and the storyline is Exciting, entertaining, gripping and with twists and turns that I did not see coming and that ending!!! Let’s just say I hope book three is not long in coming!

This was an amazing continuation of book 1. I loved everything about this book!!! It picked up right where it left off but from Gray's perspective. I love how I got to read his thoughts on everything. He is one of my favorite characters, along with Emmie, Neil, and Henry.☺ So much happened that I never wanted to put it down!!! I wanted to constantly read it. Laura Drake writes in such a way that you are left hanging after every chapter. It seemed like she always ended with a cliff-hanger at the end of every chapter and even the book did, but I loved it!!! It kept my attention the whole time!!! I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves magic and some romance!!!

Laura has really come into her own with this continuation of The Chronicles of Andar and brings the story to an explosive second half!
Damon is back, bigger and badder than the glimse we had in book 1 and set on creating absolute chaos throughout the realm of Andar. Gathering magicals of all types and infecting them with his darkness, he's growing an army to aid him in his quest to create a new realm.
Told from Grays' perspective, this book flows flawlessly from book 1 with even more action.
And....Oh the feels! Emotionally charged, this is yet another page turner from Laura that promises to drag you right into the story from page 1 and keep you reading long into the night.
Can't wait to get my hands on book 3!

Wow what an adventure! After the cliff hanger in book 1 I couldn’t wait to get some answers with book 2. The first few pages had me hooked and wanting resolutions for Gray and that tricky black magic. I found myself urging Gray to use it to defend his loved ones just as often as hoping he wouldn’t. Everyone needs to read this fun series and take a break from the reality of 2020!

Unleashed magic was an amazing continuation from the first book told in Grays perspective. Throughout the book we see a lot of the things we learned about in book 1 put into action while also getting a lot of new information about the world, the magic system, and magic itself. You never really knew what was about to happen and it kept you wanting to read more!

After finishing the first book in the Andar Chronicles and LOVING it, I went into book 2 with high hopes. And Unleashed Magic did NOT disappoint! I really enjoyed Gray’s perspective and he might be my favorite character now (Sorry Neil 😂). A lot happened in this book! There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t expect. The fighting scenes are still some of my favorites and I loved that the romance was built up more in this continuation. Drake continues to blow me away with her writing style. Almost every sentence seems poetic and you can tell she puts a lot of love and effort into every aspect of her writing. I’m ready for the third book and will anxiously await its release.

I literally just finished reading this book and OMG that ending!!! I don’t even know what to say, while I liked the first book, this second book was just so so so good!

I will admit when I started this book I was kind of sour that it didn’t proceed in Emmie’s perspective. I still feel that the author could have brought in dual perspectives so you still knew what was going on, but at the end of the day, I thoroughly enjoyed reading from Gray’s perspective. It was honestly refreshing to read a book that had a male MC that was pretty well written.

Grays story was very well written and I really felt connected to him. This story had so many twists and turns, you could feel the tension building and building with every chapter and when it all comes to a head in the last few chapters? I’m seriously still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Honestly, there wasn’t much in this book that I feel the need to complain about. All around it was an awesome second instalment to the series and I will definitely be starting the next immediately!!

When I reached the end of Unexpected Magic I was incredibly eager to jump right into Unleashed Magic. I haven't expected that the narrative would change to Gray's point of view but I understand why, keeping us guessing about Damon's plans. Although you to get brief glimpses of Emmie every now and then.

I was expecting some pretty exciting action to happen fairly early based on where Unexpected Magic left off but Unleashed Magic ended up following the same slow build that we saw in Unexpected Magic. I didn't feel the same connection with the characters with this book, the same driving urge to find out what happened next just wasn't there for me. This one also ends on a pretty intense cliffhanger so be prepared! I solid 3.5 stars for me on this one, hoping the final book draws me back in to the world that left me breathless in the first.

I like how this second book in the series is written from a different character's perspective, and Laura Drake does a good job of changing the voice to match this other personality. If you've read the first in the series, you won't be able to prevent yourself from grabbing this one and continuing the story. I found myself really comfortable in this fantastic world, and Drake's ability to get inside the protagonist's head while also depicting the other main characters in nuanced ways is really enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the third book!

The author creates a flawless transition from book one to book two. We get the perspective of Gray now and his battle with the darkness I and around him.

The writing was great and we get a plotline that is truly interesting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. We are now seeing the outcomes of what we learned from book one being played out, and there are more twists that you don't expect.

The first book was from Emmie's perspective, and I really wish the author did dual perspectives throughout the series. It would have brought in a lot more depth to the story and we could have understood character reactions a little better.

The author provided a copy. This is my honest review.

I had my doubts about the character switch from the first book to Grey but it worked out great! I really liked getting his perspective on everything and this book needed much better than the first book. It turned this series from something told from the FMC that has been done a bunch of times to something fresh and unique. There's still a lot to answer on what will happen to everyone and I cant wait to see how Neill does as the MC in the next book.

Just when I think this story can’t surprise or amaze me more. I’m proven wrong. It’s such a great story so far! The details and imagery is awesome. The story line is fantastic really. I’ve found myself really liking these characters. This particular continuation of this series is mostly all about Gray. He’s gone through so much and changes. Yet in the end he’s such a good character. That ending left me shocked. I can’t wait to see what happens next! So good! Highly recommend this series!

What a powerhouse, action packed story! This book is dense, page to page action that has you guessing at every turn. The elemental magic school has been made a fortress, the world outside is on the border of civil war. A lost princess is found and trials for a regent to rule all take place during this time of crisis. Evil lurks in every shadow, gaining more and more power. Will this band of friends and family be able to stop any of it? Or will some die trying?

This book really builds on the story beats set out in the previous entry. Again, it's really the interactions and the dialogue between the characters that sells it. They just feel natural and believable, and it makes it that much easier to root for them. I love the gradual, unwinding mystery about the magic and the antagonist. It was a solid read overall and I really ended up enjoying myself.
