Jean Greisch , born on August 27 , 1942 in Koerich ( Luxembourg ), taught philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Catholic Institute of Paris , of which he was the dean from 1985 to 1994. He was also director of the 3 rd cycle of the Faculty, where he directed the Laboratory of hermeneutical philosophy and phenomenology. Lecturer-researcher at the Laboratory of Phenomenology and Hermeneutics of the CNRS (1986 to 2005), he was holder of the Romano Guardini Chair at the Humboldt University in Berlin (2009-2012) His field of research is metaphysics, philosophy contemporary hermeneutics and the philosophy of religion. He is specialised in Heidegger and Ricœur .
In 2013, the French Academy awarded him the La Bruyère Prize .
