the ocean is a poetry collection that takes the reader on a journey through the sea - from the melancholy of the seabed to the euphoria of the surface. It is the third book in the northern collection with 4 books to be released by the end of 2020.
Written and illustrated by bestselling Instagram poet and artist, Kamilla Toln, the ocean is a soft exploration of the depths of the human soul. Touching upon themes such as nostalgia, remorse and release, it goes deep into heavy emotions that we all feel from time to time. It's an invitation to dive in and discover the mysteries within yourself - the magnificent miracles as well as the dark struggles.
Inspired by the constant movement of salt water waves, the poems drift in and out of the human mind, connecting the dots between yourself and those you love. And just as water finds its way in anywhere, the moods and musings of this poetry will seep through the cracks in your heart and stay a lifetime.

This collection was so incredible!! My fav so far for sure!! It just had so many poems that were so relatable! And some really struck cords within me. I highlighted so so many in this collection!
K. Tolnoe has an unmatched talent with words. The way she can use these incredible metaphors to say what she needs to say, and make them sound beautiful, poignant and touching, just damn!!
The Ocean ranges from a wide spectrum of themes - about past, present and future musings, about self-reflection, about relationships, about moving on - a little bit about everything really.
I highly recommend this collection and this poet!! I’m loving what I’ve been reading from her!

The Ocean, buku yang mendekatkanku pada lautan. 🌊🐚
stories cannot be killed not even when their writer is eternally still
i write stories in the sand the waves wash my letters away and i begin again
Poetry is very hit or miss with me, but this collection struck some cords. K. Tolnoe penned some amazing lines about life, who you are, and how to overcome struggles. Her art was a beautiful addition and really helped create a more impactful message. Overall this was a fantastic collection and I hope to read more from her in the future.
A beautiful ode to the vast, profound, limitless, uncertain and ever-changing ocean of life. Simply magnificent - the words deep in deeply into the very bones. Looking forward to the fourth and final book in the “northern collection” series. The way 2020 is turning out to be, this collection is a bright light of inspiration and love.
It is simple and sometimes hopeful and I liked some poems. But overall, I think it's not so much of something new or dazzling me in a way I haven't read before or anything as such. And at some parts it felt like it was trying too hard to be something deeper. Overall simple but nothing of a wow effect.
I really liked this but I also really hated it. It was beautiful in part but then so horribly pretentious otherwise. I love pretentious writing, it’s one of my favourite ways a book can be authored but Jesus Christ get an editor if that’s the goal.
To see beyond the broken pieces of yourself and find a limitless ocean filled up with every part of your being. Floating along to see what can become of every single piece of yourself.
Really good book to help you overcome your broken world.

Some poems and lines were very lovely and beautiful, but overall it did not gave the emotions that I expected. Maybe because it is too close to my own poetry, I don't know. I appreciate it, but it is not a favorite.
