Everything is Someone is a book about objects, technology, humans, and everything in-between. It is composed of seven “future fables” for children and adults, which move from the present into a future in which “being” and “thinking” are activities not only for humans. Absorbing and thought-provoking, this collection explores the point where technology and philosophy meet, seen through the eyes of kids, vacuum cleaners, factories and mountains.
From a man that wants to become a table, to the first vacuum cleaner that bought another vacuum cleaner, all the way to a mountain that became the president of a nation, each story brings the reader into a different perspective, extrapolating how some of the technologies we are developing today, will bur the line between, us, devices, and natural beings too.
In Everything is Someone the authors translate their experience in working with futures studies, technology, and design in the form of a mix media experience.
After having worked together with Bruce Sterling to design an immersive VR experience called Objective Reality , now acquired by the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna, the authors are expanding their research with their first book.
IoT, face recognition, home automation - a quirky but thoughtful set of stories to make the reader step back and think about these technologies we're adopting.
I particularly loved 'The Girl Who Couldn't Be Seen' on face recognition.
Sweet stories with that read like little fairy tales of a realty that cannot exist but does. Addressing real world topics thru a different lens that are amusing and thought provoking at the same time. Love it.
Everything is Someone centers around the quiet life of objects, automation, technology, climate change. It reads like a modern day fairy tale and has a unique charm that I Haven't seen in other books. Short but sweet!
Delightful, creative short stories about modern tech through a whimsical lens. Feels like it’s own genre, which feels like a treat to read. I loved the part where the vacuum gets a vacuum.
