Immature

The MC is supposed to be a grown man. Yet, his thoughts, speech, and actions all scream that he is a 14 year old boy.

The language is completely inappropriate. Going to a fantasy land, the residents are not going to say that something is "cool" the way we speak today.

The king of said world is not going to say he is being railroaded. They have no trains. They have no rails. Why would that ever be something a person of that world would say?

The constant use of "To be honest," and "well, truthfully" or "truth be told" got old quickly.

This author cannot count. Near the end of the story he looks at all the females, who all want to have sex with him because of the size of his 'manhood', and says "you three" then looks at the four of them.

Early in the story we are told a woman has a sphynx as a familiar and it is male. The author then proceeds to call the sphinx a her, a him, and then a her again all in a few sentences. Having completed the story, I still have no clue which the sphinx was.

The author also had the sphinx speak used the woman's name as the qualifier.

Very lazy editing.

This book is let me with mixed feelings, I got it as it was recommended so I didn't know anything about it before starting it.
When reading the prologue I thought that I was starting to read an over sexualized fanfic, but after that the book has a good plot (100% predictable but good), the fact that the MC is a painter gave a refreshing air to the book and make it stand out a little bit.
So why did I gave it a low rating, the prologue killed the series, because it shows the MC with all of his friends recalling the events of the past, so now we know that: he will be able to achieve his goals; 2- every one will survive, no matter how dire the situation that they got in to. Basically I can't see how the author will make the story trilling.
A good example of how this could be done can be found in the enderverse, the shadows series that happens at the same time that the main story line or even the formic wars that happened way before that are done in a way that make us feel engaged and wanting to know how the things will be done.
I will read the rest o the series because I dont like to have unfinished stories, but if I could turn back in time probably I wouldnt start it again.

2/3 of the way and man did it hit the ground.

I made it to about 2/3 of the way through the book and came to the conclusion that I really really really do not like this book. I was a bit skeptical with the prologue but decided to give it a go and the story started out pretty good. What really destroyed it for me is the main character and two of the main female characters Diana and Rebekah. The MC is a complete beta male doormat and Diana and Rebekah are such hypocrites. A weak and pathetic king with his equally pathetic nobles push the MC around and he just takes it, the two girls act high and mighty about saving the kingdom but in the end they are just the king's lapdogs and are willing to follow stupid orders that goes completely against their goals and reason to be a soldier/captain just because "he's the king". I wasn't particularly impressed up to this point though it was okay but that simply broke everything for me. I will not be finishing the story or read any future sequels.

Loved it!

I wasn't wanting to read this book at first, withh the description of taming a dragon then taming more of them. The cover art did not entice me either. The dragon looks so small compared to the human. Just seemed wrong to me. I had just finished my last book and this popped up in the recommendations again, so I gave it a shot.
Just finished it and I highly recommend it.
Martin, the MC, being a painter was a new spin for me. His passion for painting was refreshing and fun to read.
There's more I'd like to say but I'm at a loss for how to string them together coherently, so stop reading my words and start the book!

When in doubt, add a dragon

It was a great read. I know some have been critical of an after the fact opening and I actually rather enjoy those as the journey is usually more meaningful than the destination.

I enjoyed the dialogue, felt well enough immersed in Martin's story and description of the world that I liked it a lot. The painting background was a very nice touch as well.

My one detracting factor is the editing needed a bit more polish. It wasn't enough to distract me, but it was noticeable how he/her and she/him kept getting swapped.

Pick up for a good first book and a light, funny tone.

I was a little thrown off by the start, as I was afraid it would spoil the discovery of relationships, but after finishing the book I can say it does not. My favorite thing was the light tone of the book and small smiles it brought to my face. I’m starting too grow a little tired of OP MCs and world ending evil, but it is only hinted at in this first book and I look forward to reading the next one.

Dragons

A good Dragon book with an interesting way for the MC and the dragon.to.get together. Well worth reading for fun. I gave it a 4 because one supporting character really irritated me. Nevertheless, I will read the next book.

Great Read

Completely enjoyed this book from start to finish. Not normally a fan of stories that change perspective, but the few time it happened were a good way to show a different angle on things. I look forward to reading the next book.

All meh..MC felt immature, annoying. And since prolog gave clear image of future MC , I cared even less of everything. When all is shit, the references of memes, games and other do not make me chuckle but cringe. Nor does using them in descriptive sense inspire confidence in the writing.

Ok

This is a good story with potential. What isn't good is the editing, parts of sentences seem out of order. Plenty of other things.
