The Wrap Up

Rate this book
The end is never really the end; it’s simply a new beginning. You have seen the Washington and Smith families through just about every stage of love. From the inception of love, to the products of love, to the maturity of love and now the loss of love. Be a fly on the wall as we experience the final chapter in the Washington/Smith Saga. Through their feelings of loss and gain, pain and happiness, will the strength of their bloodline make them strong enough to withstand the tests of time? What happens when a new love interest comes on the scene? Will she be welcomed with open arms or will there be hesitation out of the respect of a lost love? As Grandmama Rosa always said, “Iron sharpens iron,” and this new feminine iron has her work cut out for her if she wants to sharpen and perfect a suffering, iron clad man. To every end there is a new beginning… and this is the new beginning for the Washington/Smith clan.

THIS WAS GOOD!!

I decided to read ALL of Mel Dau's series catalog in order. I've met the family's and fell in love with there crazy asses. I've enjoyed the ups and downs that I've read still reading. But one thing I loved about this book was the description of that DREAM! I felt like I was right there. Happy to see family members who passed away. This was a GREAT BOOK MEL DAU!.

Was so not ready for that Mel! Not my girls! They were so strong, and seemed like they were invincible. Tae was standing strong, even with dealing with all that she was going through. Khyiare, is a good man, who loved and took care of his family. He deserved love, even if it was not the way he originally intended. Loved playing catch up with the remaining Washington/Smith clan as their families grow, and they flourish in life. I hope there is at least one more story to "wrap-up" the Christianson tribe. Would love to see what Jameson/Lela and Justice/Delia are up to. Good read!

The Washington, Smith, Christianson Finale... or is it??

So the next Gen continues with Khiajah Zoie( Khiaere and Phy's oldest daughter) and her husband Lamik, who both work for The Christianson Enterprises.

Mel Dau got bored, switched some things up and threw in some real curveballs. So, get your tissues ready 🤧 😢!

Trell and Tae... mehn I love his character and thier love more with every book.

Phy... remember when she was in the "in between" talking to her dad. Ueah, me too 😮‍💨 Yall, just read and enjoy this "wrap up"..

BTW: if you haven't figured it out yet, the Washington/Christianson/Smith reading list is as follows:

Khiaere & Phy 1 & 2
Justice Rose
Trell and Tae
Heart of Tana
The Wrap Up
The Christmas Guest
Come into The Out Now
A Beautiful Mess

Whewwww! That's alot! If you go by the Amazon rec, they will have you read "Summers Howl" and "Willows Peak" after "Trell & Tae" because of the characters Claire and her sister Rae. However, those are optional as they do not deal with the Smiths or take place in North Carolina

Thank you

You always attack sensitive topics with care. This story was no different. This book is perfectly titled, I have been with this family from the beginning and I have enjoyed every moment!

For me, one of my least favorite things an author can do as a series progresses is start killing off characters. I especially hate that in romance. It means a previous book no longer has the "happily ever after." So is it still a romance?

Anyway we spent 2 books reading Khiaere and Phy's love story, as well as their appearances throughout the series, just for Phy to have died from cancer. We also spent that same time on Trell and Tae's love story just for her to have dementia and be forgetting him. I peeked to ahead and I can tell you I have zero desire to read about Khiaere falling in love with another woman.

Wrapping It Up

I absolutely Love the Washington-Christianson-Smith Tribe. I was sad about Phy, yet Love that Khiaere gets a second iron.

I'm not sure how I feel about Khia and Phy kids and their love lives. That's all I can say on that.

I really hope that Trell and Tae get more time. They're such a great couple and that darn Trell is a true comedian. I need more of his shenanigans.

While I'm sure this isn't the last of this Tribe, I'm glad it ended on a high note.

Good read.

Spoiler Alert!!

Ok, this story was good. Great in fact. I know the author can write the story as she sees fit. She's entitled to that as the author.
As a reader, I'm entitled to feel how I feel about the books I read. Phy & Tae seemingly missed out on the happily ever after train and I'm feeling some type of way about that.
Tae having dementia is wild. Life alteringly wild. Yes, she and Trell are still together, going strong, but she's slowly falling apart in front of him and the rest of the family. Imagine how she or they feel. Yes, there are still good days to be had, but the cloud of dementia is always in sight for them.
Phy dying really took me out of this series. I'll take a break after this book before I jump back in to finish the other stories.
I genuinely, whole heartedly, do not like when an author kills a main character in a love story. I invested reading time into Phy & Khiaere's story, their ups and downs, and I fully expected the happy ending. Phy dying is the exact opposite of that. Yeah, that happens in life, but this isn't real life. To have Phy die, only to fill her spot with a younger version of Phy, is low key insulting and high key unnecessary. The dream with Phy giving Khiaere permission to love Yaffa doesn't make up for Phy dying.
I read books to step away from reality. Not getting the happily ever after is not cool.

Emotionally Loved

This book was really deep and had me all in my feelings!!!…The cover definitely did not give you a hint into what was on the pages!!!…
I was not prepared for the health issues that Phy was enduring and then the loss of her!!!…He last words to her husband was to find his iron to keep him sharp!!!…That’s some deep love, loving your mate enough to encourage them to love again after you are gone!!!…
Tae, my heart broke for her, even while dealing with her own health issues, she worked to make sure time shared with Phy was precious and memorable!!!…

Hmmm🤦🏾‍♀️‼️…What in the indefinite girlfriend, side chic, bae, boo foolery (buffoonery’s 1st cousin) 🥴? ..”The happiness of our relationship is solely dependent on us”. Yea ok Yaffa, I hear what you say, but that sounds like a conditional justification (BS) of a standard established by the original ply-ologist 🤭🤷🏾‍♀️‼️…But if relationship semantic works for you🤔⁉️ However, most woman thrive in security which supersedes happiness any day! Nonetheless, I wasn't prepared for “The Wrap Up” of Christianson/Washington/Smith. Interesting family updates.

Hated it. Hated that Phy had to die and this uppity bitch took her place. It was absolutely 100% fucked up. The first moment this bitch fixed her raggedy ass mouth to say some slick shit to Khiaere about Phy should of been the day Zoie but her six feet under. Then to have them get together I'm like wtf am I reading here. Why couldn't he have been single until the afterlife. Shit why couldn't she have not died altogether or they went together. Reading Khiaere and Phy stories and how he couldn't even go on a trip without her and his kids up under him makes me incredibly sceptical that he would of really moved on 3 years after her death. There is such a thing as one soulmate. I read these books out of order because Mel Dau has no line up on Amazon to say which books go with which because so many of them have the same families and friends connected to said family. For Phy life to be cut short was some straight bullshit. Car accidents, cancer, and so much other loss. You really had to do Khiaere like that? I feel like this book came out of left field because why did we have to witness him moving on on this plane from Phy? Definitely need to take a break from Mel's books because if I have to see Trell or Tae die or both...and either one of them "moving" on I definitely will skip it altogether.

I have a lot of catching up to do. This book was the conclusion to the Washington and Smith family. I loved every minute of this book and wanted more. I realized halfway through the book, I need to go back to the beginning, but I felt like I knew everything about the characters from this book alone. Mel Dau has came into my life and had snatched my soul with her writing and I dont want it back. This book was so good!!! I will be reading their stories. Great book!!!

Have tissues ready!

This book was very well written and I appreciate catching up on all the characters I’ve read about in the other books. What I didn’t appreciate was having to get through this book with a box of tissues close by because it seems like every other paragraph I was in tears. Once again, Mel Dau did her thing and I can’t wait to read about the rest of the Washingtons, Smith’s, and Christianson’s.

It's a Wrap

OMG!!!! This book will take you on an emotional roller-coaster. I was sad and heartbreak to see Phy die, but I was glad the entire family got to be there for her and love on her. I really love the Washington, Smith and Christianson Family unit. I'm glad Khiare is finding her 2nd Iron in the fire. I hate this is the wrap up because I loved reading about this Family.

Loved it!!!

It’s going to be hard staying goodbye to my favorite family. Mel Dau did an amazing job wrapping up their story but I feel she left room for them to still make appearances in other books.

I loved how they loved each through lost and how they supported each other as they moved through life after the lost. The Washington-Christianson-Smith Family truly loved each other and that love made me love this series even more. This book is definitely a must read.

Very Good Book

It was sad to find out what happened to Phy. It was great seeing how everyone is doing and how all the kids are now grown with their own families. I want to know did you write stories about the kids meeting their husband and wives. Are you going to do a backstory on them. I love this series. Very good book.

all the feels

This story was so good and so emotional. I cried real tears as I read about everyone’s love and next chapters of their lives. The writing has been amazing in all of Mel Dau’s books. I feel like I’m there in the friend group feeling their joy, and their pain. Well done, Mel Dau.

Great ending to a wonderful series. I look forward to reading other books by Mel Dau. Is it wrong that I don't want the series to end? It's like I'm never gonna see my family that I have grown to love and care about after this.

Good wrap up with lots of tears

This is a good wrap up with a lot of tears along the way. The story displays love on different planes: through sickness and health, after death, through unknown loss, but always through good time outweighing the bad.
