Death Dealers #2

Dead on Target

Rate this book
Everyone knows the legend of the disappearing hitchhiker....

Especially Harper Matthews. But that doesn't stop her picking up a stranger one rainy evening on a dark lonely road.

And no sooner does she have the strange man in her car than her world starts to tip itself upside down. First, she ends up being run off the road, then the stranger leads her miles off track, and then her car gets stuck in the mud. And, if that wasn't bad enough, the man vanishes without a trace, leaving her to find her way back, on foot, in the dark, through the woods, with only the shadows for company.

What more could possibly go wrong?

But let's not forget Ethan Stone--Bounty Hunter, friend and fellow Death Dealer. He knows things, and right about the time Harper is picking up the stranger, Ethan gets his own message and one he can't ignore--Harper just got herself in a whole load of trouble. In fact, she might just have walked into a world of chaos she wasn't ready to see

My name is Mason Sabre. I have been writing since I was a small child and discovered I could have a million adventures at the stroke of my pencil (I wasn't allowed to use pen back then). I have written more stories than I could even publish, some of them I wouldn't ever put out, but I have had a blast writing them. I love writing, I love reading. I love to have a fictional adventure. When I am not doing that I am with my children or studying. I have a lifelong love of learning too.

I live in the North of England. It's a little chilly here and a little wet, but it is what I call home and where pretty much all of my stories are based.

“Dead in Target” was a much better read for me than the first book. My biggest concern with the previous read was that there was too much internal dialogue and not enough conversation between characters. This read corrected that problem and it made all of the difference.

Harper is now the owner of the town’s funeral home. She feels like and outsider and is not sure she wants to keep the place. However she promises her friends that she will think things through before making a decision to sell. Meanwhile Logan is hot on the romantic pursuit of Harper. He comes to her rescue when she picks up a man who then vanishes and messes up a tire. They end up going to Chloe’s house, a friend of Logan where she is concerned because her husband is missing.

Chloe takes an immediate dislike to Harper especially when Harper sees a little girl being taken from the premises. The problem is that no one sees this but Harper. In this installment we also get to meet Ethan’s troubled brother, Dalton and the dedicated nurse that works with him. Dalt will serve an important role in the story as it develops.

I was wondering where the romance in this series was headed. Now I have a better understanding as to who will most likely end up with whom. All in all, this was a strong follow up to the first book and I am truly looking forward to reading the next.

I think my expectations were too high. This was a little better than the first book, but not by much. Dalton was a good addition. Still too many holes and very abrupt ending. Certainly by design. Definitely too much inner dialogue. One question that was not answered was why Chloe threw herself at Logan and why did she lie about them being lovers. None of that was necessary because she truly loves her husband and family. It was just weird. I do agree with other reviewers that Maya is not what she seems. I also think that Logan is not Harpers mate. Definitely friend zone to me. I think she was meant for Ethan so there magic can work as one. I certainly hoped for more excitement in this book. Also explanations of the holes from the first book. Nothing. Anyway on to the next installment. Hopefully better than this one.

Addictive and unputdownable

DEAD ON TARGET
, book two in Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton's Death Dealers Series, is another tantalising and gripping journey into the paranormal world of Harper Matthews. Once again I was kept on the edge of my seat as Harper, Ethan and Logan try to solve several mysterious happenings.

Mystery, suspense, paranormal activity, all ingredients that pulled me into a story that I couldn't escape until the final word was read. With numerous twists and turns, I found myself constantly second guessing my thoughts as to what was occurring and what the outcome would be.

Mason and Rachel are writing a series that is addictive and each book unputdownable.

Defintiely not one to be missed.

OMG!! What a completely satisfying story!! Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton make a fantastic writing team. I've read Dead on Time and Dead on Arrival (the previous Death Dealer books), so I highly recommend those books, but it's not necessary to have read them to enjoy this story. In this story, we get to know Ethan and Harper even more along with Dalton and Logan. I want to be Renea when I grow up ;) OMG there was an interaction between the brothers that was so moving it brought me to tears. It was absolutely beautiful! Talk about warming my heart! This book runs the gamut of emotions! I recommend starting this read early because I promise you will not want to put it down until you have read every single word! Happy Reading!

I am absolutely loving this series, Mason and Rachel make a great team, the words flow at a great pace and seamless, you don't know where one ends writing and the other begins, that is the mark of a true writing duo.
The connection between Ethan and his brother Dalton is fantastic, a proper family tie.
Logan comes to Harper's rescue, he really does seem to like her lol.
Harper is finding out more and more about her powers, once she understands it more, I think she will be a force to reckon with.
I love all the main characters in this series, whether Harper chooses Ethan or Logan she will be one lucky lady.
Can't wait for the next in the series

I am loving the Death Dealers series by Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton. Each book is getting more intense. Dead on Target takes off at warp speed and does not stop until the end. The story is action packed and is also humorous and heartwarming. I love the addition of Dalton and his relationship with Ethan. I am also intrigued with the potential romance between Harper and Logan. Could Ethan throw a wrench into those plans? Will Harper finally go to her mother and get the truth? I cannot wait to see what these two authors have in store for their readers next!

She had no idea

Harper always knew she different but not to the extreme she was. She learned many things but she had magic and didn't know. Ethan tried always to teach her different things and to learn she strength. So many things happening around her and she was afraid and trying to figure out how to fix things. Dead people walking and disappearing. But the most she learned was about the Nether. Logan wanted her in ways that had nothing to do with her magic but I think she cares more for Ethan, she read him better. Nice job Mason

Nice story but alot is left unknown and they tend to end abruptly

Just when I really start to get into the story and the explanations it just ends, for example in this story what exactly is the birth stone the bad guy is looking for, what was the point in Ethan beginning of story finding the artifact, what about johnathans wife...so many unfinished threads it makes for a very dissatisfying reading. I also dont like love triangles, make it clear if it's one in the first book or choose them both either way it should be clear after the second book.

Wow, this book is packed from start to finish with action, it had me gripped from the first chapter and not wanting to put it down until the very end and when the end came, I needed more!

Now I have to patiently wait. A carefully woven story of magic, action, feelings and other worlds. New characters, foundation character deepened and a story that leaves you wanting more answers and asking more questions. Can't wait for the next book.

Another action packed storyline with lots of twists and turns. Harper is having some type of visions and she is now having a hard time discerning reality from magic. Ethan is on a mission and he can feel when things start going crazy for Harper. He knows that she is in danger and has to get to her but obstacles keep getting in his way. A new character is added and very likeable. I hope she's got some hidden something. This was a great read. Patiently waiting for the next book.

Perfect.. loved it 🤓

I am definitely enjoying reading the Death Dealers books! I’m a supernatural fan and this definitely delivers on that front. The characters are amazing the way they are together. The teasing, the camaraderie .. the friendships that are building. I’m excited for the next new storyline from these two authors. Thanks for teaming up 🤓

This is the second book in the series. There's also a prequel worth reading, making it 3 books total. I didn't want to finish this one because I don't know when the next will be released. The characters are quirky, well maybe not quite quirky, but definitely compelling. They are growing and developing into riveting individuals. I'm looking forward to more.

This duo has done it again. I absolutely loved every word in this book. I couldn't put it down. The writing takes you and puts you right in the story. The flow of the scenes keeps you turning the pages until the end of the book.

I love this second book in the series. It's so interesting, the characters are well developed. The tension was believable. For some reason I was biting my imaginary nails. This book was better than the first and I will read the sequel too

Hold on tight and enjoy the mysterious world, that Mason Sabre and Rachel Morton have created.

Addictive reading, there was plenty of “wow” moments, as we the reader, are instantly transported back into the Death Dealers world. Intriguing and sometimes terrifying turn of events, had me on the edge of my seat, transfixed as to what was about to happen next.

As Harper learns more of her powers, I really felt that we got to know more of Ethan this time round. The characters are embedding themselves into my mind and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
